Doesn't has any heat problems so far, and most of the initial problems where fixed with updates. The biggest gripe for me right now is that the latest updates disabled the U-touch functionality of the home button (now it's just a regular home button)
You won't get any upgrade for zuk z1 if you can root and flash custom roms then take this otherwise I will not recommend it bcoz now every latest game is now getting incompatible with z1 bcoz of older processor and it's WiFi chip is also old bcoz it doesn't get any network if you are far from WiFi router where my old micromax unite2 gets strong signals
No I would nit
Finger print scanner doesn't work (lot of people with the same problem)
Home button doesn't work properly anymore.
Gets pretty warm if you play games even with simple games.
GPS can be unreliable
Camera makes nice pictures if there is enough light but makes pretty bad pictures in low light situations.
Cyanogen os is buggy.
The last security patch is from June.
No idea when the will finally update it to marshmallow, we don't even have a confirmation that it will get it.
It has decent specs but doesn't always run that smooth.
Bezels are pretty big compared to other devices.

I would take a look at the xiaomi redmi 3s (pro) or the xiaomi Redmi note 4. I don't have any experience with xiaomi but I have seen a lot of positive reactions of people that own one

IMHO, I would pay 100$ more, and buy OnePlus 3, better specs than Zuk & Xiaomi

Xiaomi with inbuilt backdoor[emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji106]

You can buy an HTC HD2, there's android N already released for it[emoji106] It's a great device [emoji3]
What I want to say: don't trust any oem in relation to official updates.
You consider to buy an Android phone, which biggest advantage is the unofficial rom community who gives also the oldest devices out there a chance to live longer!
I personally give a fck about official delivered firmware[emoji1]
I have the zuk since the beginning, never had any issue with software or hardware. It's big battery, screen, dual LTE sim slots and fast USB is great. But not all is great on z1, you must decide for yourself which specs you need and which you don't need at all.

That's true, battery could be better on one plus. There's another manufacturer, UMI, they also built superb phones with low prices.
The zuk can be very great in battery life, im on 54% with actually 5,5h sot.
About the backdoor: It should be investigated, but I think it's only necessary to care if you been on stock OS... But it's a new leak...

Which rom/kernel setup are you on?
About Zuk Z1, I'd recommend it if you are the sort of person who fiddles around with roms and try different combinations that work for you. The hardware is pretty decent, the performance I have had no reasons to complain so far, camera sufficiently good for this price and so on. Software experience and updates on stock leaves a lot to be desired though, with cyanogenos 12.1 that shipped along with my device having some irritating bugs that made me quickly switch over to custom roms. Currently though, I'm very happy that I bought this one.

I'm using Nuclearom with inbuilt radioactive kernel xposed with some other tweaks.
I totally agree with you, I also bought the zuk cause I know the bad support from manufacturers(Android 6 for zuk they announced early 2016) but know the capabilities of the hardware and the willingness others to develop on this platform. Thanks to all the dev's our there [emoji106] [emoji106] [emoji106]

ZUK is a crappy phone,
Within a year charging doesnt work properly anymore, fingerprint scanner broken within a few months, homebutton broken etc. Just poor quality. Only upside was the battery life. Got a Oneplus 3 now, what a difference!
and just pathetic that they dont upgrade to android 6.0, being a Lenovo company !!

That can happen on every brand, every device with complex electronic. There's always a chance you buy a device and get trouble many times or never. That's the normal way [emoji6] look at Samsungs Note 7 or Apple iPhone seven.

Yes it can but this phone has to many hardware and software problems.
As for the hardware part.. Yes.. Presales checking is poor.
As far as software part.. Its perfect.
Just cos has errors.
Try cm 13,nuclea or du.
No bugs.. No glitches.. Full control.. 10+ hrs battery life.

Remember, that there are people outside there, who won't hassitate with flashing, testing etc. They want out of the box a phone that works without software or hardware issues, for a low price working for a long time.

I bought this phone so I didn't have to do that anymore. I used to do it but decide to stop with it cause I kept trying different roms wich took up to much time.

layers, easy answer. cm themes uses too many resources, and is aweful.

true, but I find CM has much more selection of themes, and from my research it is more user friendly as of now.

maybe, theyve been using it for a few years now, where layers is relatively newer. but, the use of system resources outweighs its user friendly ui.
CM themes on the fly but layers themes so much more...
I like layers, but it is not as popular and so it theme section isn't as good. that said there is so many cm themes and that puts it on top of layers for me.

CM, for the ability to apply icon packs within any launcher, especially with the Google Now launcher. If you don't care for icon packs, then Layers is great.

Hey guys I just finished working on a new theme for cyanogenmod that is also an icon pack for Apex and all launchers. Wanna see it?
Want a dark, flat theme for your android?
Well here it is!
Introducing Darkula, a dark theme for cyanogenmod and dark icon pack for Apex Launcher.

Thank you
I'm running freedom ces. It's super smooth it's just missing customization lol. I have tried a few themes but they didn't turn out great. What's some of the stable oos/legacy themes out there? Also do the font substratum packages work with oos?

you could try out spectrum or swiftblack and it depends on what colors you are opting for.
Using Swiftblack here, and it works perfect. And very fast updates after app releases with graphical changes
Hi,
I'm changing my Note 9's theme to smt black with white icons, but whatever iconpack I use from Samsung Themes, most of the non-Samsung apps stay in full colour, even all the Google apps. Are the icon packs from Samsung Store only for Samsung apps? If yes, how can I apply iconpacks from Play Store that have a lot more content?
By design the icon packs only affect some Samsung apps.
Use a Custom Icon Packers with Nova Launcher in case you're ready to switch launchers.

Then why the point of customizing? I want a full black theme with with icons. So this means only the Samsung icons get white and all others in color?
Hello,
I'm about to buy my new Xiaomi mi 9 but before I do I'm trying to find a ROM for it that has the same type of launcher as Samsungs OneUi.
I have been using Samsung for a few years now and have grown to love the launcher it uses but after seeing what MIUI looks like I'm not sure I want to leave Samsung.
Is there a Rom that has this sort of theme? I don't like the pixel launcher because it has the google search at the bottom. the apps draw is vertical and not being able to create folders in the app drawer.
From what I can see all the Roms available look like the pixel launcher or lawnchair.
Thank You
You can get Samsung's OneUI Launcher from APKMirror.
