any 8GB non SDHC mem cards available yet? - MDA III, XDA III, PDA2k, 9090 Software Upgrading

as the title says

SD 8 GB
Hi
Kingston produces it:
8GB* Secure Digital High-Capacity Card (Class 2)
But I do not know if it is going to work on the BA. Does anyone have such a card in his BA?

Black6spdZ was asking for NO-SDHC card.

well I was asking because I thought I remember reading somewhere that the SDHC cards wouldn't work in our BA's.. has this been confirmed?

yup, its doesn't work, I bought the Topram 8GB SDHC from Googlebase and it wasn't working. Theres a thread about this already so get to the searching.
cheers.

SDHC-support (hack/update/other)

It's simple: I'm looking for an SDHC-support update/hack/driver/other for Blue Angel (Qtek 9090).
Can anybody help me?
Yes, it's rather easy: sell BA, buy sth that supports SDHC out of the box.
More complicated solution: wait until more devices will support SDHC, then sell BA and buy it.
So far we can forget about update of drivers to support SDHC and, what is more probable, device itself is not capable of suppoorting SDHC.
Thanks for you respons even though I don't like the sound of it.
Nothing at all I can do to get my Blue Angel på support SDHC? Nothing?
For sure something can be done
1. Write driver that supports SDHC, if chip inside is capable of reading SDHC cards. If not:
2. Unsolder reader and solder a new one in it's place, that supports SDHC for sure. Then write driver.
In both cases it will be easier and cheaper to just buy new deivce.
BTW: yo you know, that BA reads easily 4GB SD cards, that are not SDHC (a bit out of standard, but still possible)? Maybe it would be enough for you?
Ok. I'll sell the 8 GB SDHC-card and buy another (not HC) SD-card.
Thanks...
From all the technical datasheet I've gathered so far, it's all in the drivers.
Not even the device reader's firmware.
Right now I'm just waiting for a WM5 device that fully supports SDHC so we can lift the driver out of it, but that chance of that is slim as they'll all most liekly be WM6. Anyway, there is a possibility and I'm not giving up that easily.
So when is it possible for a sdhc-driver for Blue Angel to come out? Soon or should I sell my 8 GB SDHC and buy a 4 GB SD?
If you want to have more flash on your BA, you should buy no-SDHC card. Even it there will be any device on WM5 that reads SDHC, there is little chance it will work correctly in WM5 on BA.
And chances of having new device on WM5 are also lower and lower, as WM6 is the mainstream today.
8gb SD
My 8GB SD card (not SDHC) does not work in my BA.
Anyone know if a driver has been released?
Forget about driver. So far.
Where have you bought 8GB SD that is not HC? Any links?
What reader it is compatible with this (rather odd) thing?
8GB SD
fleabay are selling 8gb sd cards.
The readers are sdhc and sd compatible.
prices are around £45 incl reader + del.
what are the chances of a 8gb sd driver?
Does the Athena support SDHC?
AbuGWM5: I don't think there can be SD card that is both SD and SDHC compatible. It's like having a partition formatted both Fat32 and EXT2 at the same time.
hardingt0110: This is BlueAngel forum, isn't it?
The only non HC 8 gig SD cards are MMC. These can be made to work with driver support. It's all in the data transfer. Here's all you ever wanted to know about SD cards http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/samsung-i730-i830-i830w/88442-8-gb-card-hunting-tips.html

I just looked on ebay (US and UK) and all the 8 gig SD cards I saw were SDHC. Have a link to one of these cards that are not SDHC?
8gb SD
Here's the link to the 8gb SD card:

Sorry for the mis-understanding: i meant 8gb SD card with a reader that is compatible with SDHC.
MMC just stands for multi-media card. So any memory card falls into that category.
PS buy at your own risk from the above seller he is very slow with delivery approx 4 weeks from USA and his cards may not be x150.
If you really want this 8gb sd card pm me if you'd like to purchase from me.
"8GB Secure Digital™ SD SDHC"
That card will not work in the BA, it's an SDHC card.

MMC is registered name of MultiMediaCard standard, that is separate from SD (but usually compatible), MemoryStick, CompactFlash and other standards.

Biggest Capacity SDHC Card Possible

I'm running WM6 on 7500, with 4GB SDHC card, and need more space.
Whats the biggest capacity card anyone is running without problems?
I haven't tried one but I saw the microSDHC 8gb has just been announced at $150. I don't think there is anything bigger then 8gb at the moment but I could be wrong. Wikipedia mentions Samsung announced a 16gb but they don't mention if its SD or micro.
6gb microSDHC has been available for a while now. But i'll wait for 8GB one since it should be soon available.
BTW, SDHC is useless for Athena. We should be using either miniSDHC or microSDHC.
Parity with the hard drive, nice!

The MicroSD cards usually come with 2 adapters (one for Mini-SD and one for SD).
Thanks, I'll get an 8Gb one then when my 7500 turns up.
Please be informed that the 12 GB MicroSDHC is already out:

microSDHC and TyTN II

Hi!
I understand that HTC Kaiser (TyTN II) support SD 2.0 standard, which allow it to use microSDHC memory card.
Yesterday, I have found a Kingston 4GB microSDHC memory card at one retailer shop, I want to buy it. So I asked the storekeeper for a test by inserting the 4GB card into TyTN II card slot. The result, TYTN II do not recognize or see the microSDHC card from Kingston at all.
I have read in other forum that TyTN II can use Sandisk or Toshiba microSDHC card up to 4GB without the need of any driver of anything.
So what's the problem? My Kaiser use released ROM (WM6) and it work fine with 2GB microSD, but why it do not work with microSDHC?
Can any friend explain why? and can you help me get my TyTN II to work with 4GM microsSDHC?
Thank for advaice

Same here. And I also have tested the 8GB. Also worked fine.
I own Kingston 4GB microSDHC, works like a charm The problm may be in the card or your device. First of all try inserting the card when device is switched on.
Don't forget, maybe it was a shonky card in the first place?

It may not have been properly pre-formatted either, sometimes the factory format isn't perfect.
I also use 4GB Sandisk card. The only problem is it get's stuck (U can't remove it just by giving it a little push after wich it's supposed to pop out).
In some other thread there is a discussion of this problem and someone recommended "going round the edges with a paper clip" wich I didn't understand. Can someone who has solved the issue give me more details about the solution?
All in all 4GB Sandisk card seems to larger than normal.
I was about to buy a 4gb Kingston Micro SDHC on the weekend, but held off because my Sandosk 2gb isnt even half full.
It was a class 4 which i presume is faster than my Sandisk 2gb.
Im curios to know what the Kaisers actual sustained transfer rates are with the SDHC cards.
Imo, Kaiser will not be able to use full speed of the card even if it was 0.5 class =)) Higher class card only works faster through card-reader, not in the device or through Card Export.
I've also noticed, that my kingston is hard to get back from the device, but i think it is the problem of the slot cover - it really s*cks.

Is your Kingston a SDHC? And did you get a card reader with it?
When i had my HTC P3600i i found that whilst running TomTom6 off my microSD and selecting 6 types of POI it would hang as i beleived it would 'time out' as the data transfer rate was slower than allowed. This was using a Sandisk 1Gb MicroSD in a miniSD adaptor.
Hence why i am genuinely curious to know what is the actual sustained data transfer rate of the Tytn II.
Yes, it is microSDHC (I doubt you find microSD 4Gb large), cardreader was purchased separately. I'm almost sure, that inner kaiser controller will not be able to transfer data to main memory at rates close to the specified in the class description. Though, I also doubt, that you TomTom problem had anything in common with SD data transfer rate. I'm sure you were able to watch video from it (your card), and it is about 1500kbit/sec (HQ) - far more then needed to perform any searching operations. Practically, I've noticed, that copying files through cardreader is about 5 times faster than through CardExport and not sure this was device USB limitation.
After reformatting the 4GB Kingston micro SDHC card, it work OK!
Thank for advise! The shopkeeper thank me a lot, saying that if you don't tell me to format the card, I will never know!
Thank guys!

Class 10 sd cards

Does the G1 support class 10 sd cards?
Also, using a custom rom, can I partition the card so that a 32 gb sd cards works?
You obviously know something nobody else knows about... where to get a 32GB class 10 uSD card..... link please?
http://www.engadget.com/2010/02/16/...hc-card?icid=sphere_blogsmith_inpage_engadget
But to answer your question sjbayer3, I'm not sure if the G1 supports it.

Good luck jamming that into a uSD slot.
Its about 4 times too large, physically.
LOL.... I love these threads every few months.
The keyword you have missed OP, is the word micro. Micro carries a LOT of meaning.
either way you guys have been pretty pathetic with answering the questions:
will a 32gb micro sd card work in a g1?
my bad on the micro part... yes class 10 sd cards exist... im unsure if a micro sd class 10 exists

Well you have internet so I'm sure you can google it and find an answer...I know I did. And if you looked at my first post there is a link there that answers the question that YES Class 10 Micro SD cards do exists in 16GB format.

Nobody really knows the answer to your question. I'm guessing mostly because the 32gb microSD cards are almost worth as much as the dang phone itself. In the meantime, you can buy one and try it....if it works let us know as well.
On every search that I ran on google everyone keeps saying that the G1 doesn't support them.
the g1 should work with all SDHC cards 4gb - 32gb when it comes out

But still nobody will know because they'll probably be like 150 bucks
You could always buy one and see for yourself, I have not heard someone do it yet, but maybe you can and report back to us what you find out
Remember that sdcard and micro sdcard are DIFFERENT...
I ordered one for my hero, if it doesn't work, I'll put it in my camera. It's backordered at the moment... I'll update. I'm pretty sure that the G1 and Hero have the same SD compatibility (2.0) and I think that the class 10 is SD 3.0... so I have doubts
well, i have a class 10 16gb MicroSD Card in my Leo and it's working fine.
Also i have 2 more 16Gb cards (1 x Class 4 and 1 x Class 2), between the Class 2 and Class 4 i don't notice the speed difference when playing around on the phone but i do indeed notice the improvement in speed when using the class 10 one, so my guess is Class 10 will most likely work fine in all HTC phones using that slot form.

compatible 32gb cards

hi,
I'm just looking at upgrading my HD7 to 32gb. I've found a class 4 card that i know will work 100%, but i'd much rather buy a class 10 card. Does anyone know if SanDisk SDSDQU-032G-U46A will work ok? available on amazon. or has anyone else had a class 10 32gb card working in their handset?
thanks in advance
will keep this thread posted with updates to try help others in future!
I know some guys are using a 32gb - Class 10 - micro SDHC in their hd7's and just about any 32gb micro SD or micro SDHC card will work now... Just not micro SDXC cards. Not a 100% sure if the SDSDQU model will work for sure though, but if it's a newly manufactured card it should work! If there's a return policy, get it and try it, if it doesn't work return it and get the 32gb - class 10 - SDHC.
You can bench the card that you get in a PC using CrystalDiskMark 3 http://crystalmark.info/download/index-e.html
and use the 4000MB setting. Then you can post what type of card you got and the benchmark test results in this thread here

I just picked up a HD7 to have a play with WP7. Was not intending to upgrade it but when I inserted the sim it did not go in correctly so I had to remove the back anyway. I had a 32GB Lexar class 10 which I know people have reported as not working. I've been running it for five days with no issues. I've loaded music, movies and apps all run nice and fast with no stuttering
the only card that work very good is only old class 2...Sandisk is perfect!
Im using a sandisk 32gb class 10 the red and black one with no problems at all
rocking a sandisk 64gb here
