how to hard reset this phone

Hard reset
To perform a hard reset press and hold the Left soft key and the Right soft key at the same time use the stylus to press the reset button. Release the stylus but continue pressing the two sotfkey buttons, release them when you see the following message "Press send to restore default, press end to quit." press send on phone.

Just read the manual and I did once.

Hi
My device has gone really wrong all of sudden. Keeps locking up, weird application corruption etc. I have taken out the battery a number of times. The phone boots up and seems to be ok, but if I slide out the keyboard nothing happens on screen. If I try and make a call the touch screen will not work to dial a number. Weird screen corruption. I thought this device was too good to be true.
I want to do a hard reset. HOwever not sure what the buttons are.
HardReset: Hold Talk and End soft key - Reset :When prompted push Green Talk Button

I ran across this thread. my phone is locked with the pin, and I cannot get the pin to unlock the phone. I tried the softkeys and reset but it gets to the tri color screen and stops. It dosn't prompt for a hard reset.
AEB button plus bricked my device. It will start but when the green screen appears it will not continue. Activesync will not connect and I cannot hard reset. Please help!
You should be able to hard reset as you dont need to be in the OS to do this. Try following the hard reset procedure whilst your phone is booting up.
PROCEDURE EXTRACTED FROM WIKI:
Press and hold both soft keys
Using a stylus, press and hold the soft reset button at the bottom of the phone
Keep all three buttons pressed until the keypad lights turn off and then flash
Release the soft reset button while still pressing the soft keys
Let go of the two soft keys once the message "This operation will delete all your personal data, to manufacturer default" appears on screen
Finally, press the green call button to perform the hard reset, or press other key to cancel
Hope this helps
I have ae button plus on my tilt. How in the world did it brick your tilt?
You installed it to your storage card didn't you? tsk, tsk, tsk...
It will work in storage card only if you change it's start up number in the reg. Otherwise it's stuck trying to load a program from a place it can't see yet. Because the startup directory tells it to boot before your SD card loads. It's not bricked though. You can hard reset you just have to know how.
Firstly do a soft reset. Immediately after the reset depress both softkeys. As soon as the green screen comes up depress the reset button again while still holding the soft keys. Then follow the directions on the screen! Voila!
Thanks guys, I did not install to my card. During installation it read some type of "language" error. Eventually I did get it to hard reset. I hooked it up to my comp and then tried a hard reset, after about 10 tries it worked. Thank you for your help...
Hi
I've bougt a HTC Touch Diamond from a friend. He left all his Contacts, pictures on the phone, so i want to Hardreset my Device.
I pressed the Volume-Down and the Enter button and then the Reset button. Release it and be pressing the other 2 Buttons.
Nothing happen....
I tried to push only the Reset button (soft reset?) but the device do nothing.
Is my Reset button defect?
Greez Michael from switzerland
Probrably. Hitting the reset button should shutdown your device in the same second. So it will vibrate and show the boot screen.
If you simple press the reset button and dont see nothing... well...
I've found a way:
I have to start the device and pressing the 2 buttons at the same time. Then the HTC displays the Reset screen without pressing the Reset button... crazy, but it works...
You found your way! ;-)
im new to this so please be simple if you can help. i love my phone and i am really mad i cant get to anything. i would try to hard reset but i cant get to the start menu or anything. ive soft reset on multiple occasions but it does nothing
You don't have to be able to get to the menus to perform a hard reset.
Simply push both soft keys (keys above the 'E' and the mail icon on your pad) while performing a soft reset. You will then be prompted to push the 'Send' key and everything will be restored.
Welcome to XDA
Yeah, you can hard reset using the physical keys. However, the above method has never worked for my ATT Tilt. The method described in the wiki has never worked either. The method I use which works for me, is:
Press the two "-" softkeys on the front of the device while it is off
Then, while still holding the sofkeys on the front, press the stylus into the reset hole on the bottom for at least 3 seconds
While Still holding the two softkeys on the front, press the power button briefly then release it
You may release the softkeys once you see the warning message
Good luck,
Dave
