well, i have been reading thru this site since i submitted the post. It seems kinda straight formward to do the rom upgrade. But, i cant find a way to backup my rom and stuff. It says that OSImageTool does it on the PPC 2002 and PPC 2003 but, not on PPC2003SE. Any suggestions ? Maybe i aint looking in the right direction ?
Thanx in Advance.
Hi,
Also, i have another question... In which order do i do the update ?
Rom, Radio, ext rom ?
Thanx
You can do them all at once. Other than that, it really doesn't matter.
how do i backup my current rom?
Here is a link that tells you how to backup you're ROM in case you want to downgrade beware this only backsup the ROM and not files or software you installed.

You can use XBackup in the programs to backup contacts software etc, however you can not restore to a different ROM version.
orite, thanx alot.

advice to a newbie..

Hello there...
I ordered my herald...actually a p4350 and i will be receiving it in a few days..
But as i know it will come with WM5 installed.
So,
i am trying to understand the procedures explained here but..
Theres some modified roms as i see.
So what should be the path to follow...
Upgrading to WM6 from htc's webpage ? or is there any modified wm6 images around?
And what is rom called for? A kind of theme that should be installed after upgrading?
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance..
The best advice each one of us could give you is to start reading the posts your interested in. Make sure you have read enough to know what you are going to do and what to do when it goes wrong.
If your Herald comes packed with WM5 and you simply want to upgrade it to WM6, the best way to do this is by downlaoding the official RUU (Rom Upgrading Utility) for the HTC website (europe.htc.com).
If you're familiar with WM6 and you want to use a customized package then start reading the posts on how to upgrade, the (im)possibilities and it's pro's and cons. Start with reading the topics by ITje on how to upgrade to his rom. The latest version is Touch-IT V3 for Herald/P4350.
Make sure you have the official RUU before you start upgrading to the customized ROM, because you need that one incase you brick your Herald (means something went wrong during upgrade and it isn't working anymore).
All the answers to any question you might have can be found in these forum's. To make sure you don't piss of people or ask redundant question search the forum until you're desperate before you ask something.
Good luck!

Bit of n00b help appreciated..?

Guys
I sincerely want to use a cooked ROM - I used to on my Artemis and a number of WM devices before it - however I'm a bit more worried about causing my rather expensive HD Touch some harm.
More than that, I'm worried about getting all my programs back (I have a lot!) with their settings...taken me ages to tweak them how I want. As you guys are the experts, can anyone suggest a way in which I can backup my existing programs and relevant files and restore them after flashing a cooked ROM (instead of stock)
Hopefully it's possible
If you follow the "Dummies Guide" to flashing by Digital Outcast here step for step you should not go wrong.
For setting up your newly flashed ROM try Sashimi, this makes setting up a breeze.

Newbie in ROM installation

Hi,
I read about ROM that can be downloaded to upgrade PPC. I downloaded the the WM 6.5ROM for my OPAL.
I just fell confused about some points that I hope you can help me with:
Do I have to install any SPL or HardSPL to be able to install the ROM?
Is there any stable version of WM 6.5 for opal or most of them have bugs?
I also hope that posters of new ROMs include all necessary steps to install their ROM and don't rely on the previous knowledge so newbies don't feel lost all the way.
Thanks to all of whoever exerted effort to please us with new ROMs and apps.
Any way, thanks for watching this topic, I found an answer that could be useful to others, it is the steps necessary to install your ROM (it uses Diamond but same steps applied)

[Q] Running FRX07.1 on a Topaz...

Hello guys. Pretty noob here
A friend of mine owns a Topaz and he would be grateful if he could run Android on it. I read several posts and instructions and I'm almost sure I can help him. But I have one question for you... I tried only once to install a custom rom (on a Kovsky) and I made it first try... I remember changing some values in the registry with TotalCommander (if I'm not mistaken) and HardSPL-ing my phone before I could flash a custom ROM. Are those steps mandatory to run FRX07.1 on a stock Topaz or I just follow those instructions and nothing else?
Excuse me for being noob but anyone starts from 0.
Thanks in advance... Alex!
i have the same problem as u i need to flash my TD2 and but new android Rom and i dont know how can anybody help
