Phone call recording - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

I know this has been posted, but has anyone researched the ability to record both sides of the phone call? I have played with trials for Vito and others with out luck. Right now with most software, you have to turn on the speaker and this is really not a solution. Anyone have any suggestions?

Try to search in this forum, it has been discussed and no solution due to restriction from the hardware and/or WinMo OS.

Really annoyed:

I purchased the motorola HS850 a couple of days ago, seems pretty good paired up sraight away.
Problems are as follows.
The BT headset can't be used as a microphone for recording your voice, and/or giving commands to Voice Command software!!! Also i cant work out what pressing the button once quickly when not on the phone does. On normal mobiles you can announce a voice tag and it will dial the number. On the PPC (XDAIIs) it changes the icon of just headphones next to the start menu to headphones with audio coming out. Any ideas what this does? seems to create a connection to the decice, but still does not pick up audio from the BT mic!! One last thing is, on normal mobiles the HS picks up button presses etc, throught the BT speaker. No it doesn't even do that with PPC WM2003SE!!!
So in short the unit is pretty useless apart from answering calls by tapping the button on the headset. Kind of defeats the idea of a Btooth headset. Surely you would want to dial out using its built in mic? Am i just been stupid here, or should any of the above work?
Any workarounds or software that will work with BT Headsets? If not does anyone want to buy this from me for a fair price??? I mean what is the point? Can people tell me there postive uses please, or explain what im doing wrong!!! Surely if a crappy £50 mobile can utilize the features a £250 ppc should be able to, i mean come on!!
Anyone? I'm sure someone out there knows a little more about this than me? Im after some info!!!
I guess the answer is to buy the one designed for the device from O2?
As far as i know from the research i have done, it doesn't matter what h/set you have got!!
Matt
You are unfortunately right that ypu cannot control Microsoft Voice or therefore autodial with ANY headset at present. This is apparently due to the Widcomm Stack implementation (They haven't coded that part yet!).
Most users will also have difficulty with (System) sounds from the IIs presented on the headset. I believe that the new High Quality Stereo Stack has now been implemented but works with only a few headsets.
Where can the new stack be found from? or is it the 3900 stack?
I was led to believe it is in the 3900 stack but there was a CAB file floating around a while back for it (Never tried it myself so can't be of much more help I'm afraid!)
Thanks bebbo, anyone got further information on this problem at all?> I would like to get to the bottom of it, as their are hundreds of these kinda posts around all with no definative answer....Come on lets solve this and put an end to peoples suffering..... (MINE TOO!! )
Anyway, please post any information you know!!
At this time there are NO headsets that provide this function that I am aware of. If you highlight a contact, you can push and hold the headset button until it beeps and it will dial that contact.I was considering switching to the Nokia 9500, but it does not have that function either.
Maybe in the future, but not right now........Later

Recording Conversations "Through" your phone

Please forgive me for posting this thread as I know it's redundant; however, I have searched the forums and have not seen any questions with the same ingredient as I am going to ask.
My biggest "grunt" about the Kaiser (and every other HTC phone for that matter) is that it is unable to record phone calls "internally" through the phone. I have searched and searched for this option and haven't come across anything that's decent. All applications that are out there record the call “externally” and have very poor recording capabilities. I am not interested in taking Notes; I am interested in recording conversations.
What has struck this conversation up again is a little program by the name of "BTAUDIO". This program allows you to listen to music and other forms of media through your BT headset. I haven't quite figured out how this would enable “internal” phone call recording, but it seems as though it pushes us a step closer to our success.
I would be interested in hearing from talented programmers who can possible use this to enable internal phone call recording.
One more thing... please hold back the "Law" aspect of this conversation, I know it and don't want to hear it. Nor do I want this thread to be about "The right thing to do".
Thanks for your input!
Yeah, I wondered about that too. Even if we can't record a conversation through the main phone speaker, could it be possible to record a conversation that is passing through to a wired or BT headset?
the answer to the questions: no, it's not possible to hack into the BT stream. The TekSoft guys have tried it hard - no success.
What I rercommend is, if having a separate phone & PDA isn't a prblem, is getting an additional HTC*s310 (oOxygen). It's able to record calls. Alternatively, if you have more money to burn, get the N95: then, you'll have the best of both (Symbian and WM) worlds.
I also recommend my related articles inj the Wiki - I've published a LOT of articles on the subject.
I am using resco audio recorder, too bad it only record my voice, not the other party.
So I really want to know is there any solution for the kaiser phone.
Thanks!
Get a Grandcentral account. It will enabled you to record any phone call you are having (both parties), by simply pressing 4 on the number pad. The recorded conversation is saved online and can be downloaded to your PC.
Edit: I also thought I would add this: When you record a conversation with grandcentral, it *will* notify the other party they are being recorded. Some states require by law that you notify the other party they are being recorded in a phone conversation. If you are looking for software that will record without notifying the other party, you may be breaking the law, depending on what state you live in (if you live in America, obviously).
How about PM recorder?

Callers deafened by ringtone when I answer by Bluetooth

Anyone else got this issue and is there a new bluetooth stack or something to resolve it?
When I click the answer button on any bluetooth headset (currently using the iqua solar powered one), the sound is temporarily diverted to by mobile before the bluetooth properly picks up, and also during that slugging moment, any ringtone playing is diverted to the caller's earpiece (i.e. sent out by my mic).
One caller complained it had nearly deafened them.
Anyone able to help?
Having the same issue with my parrot bluetooth and my Tilt
Can someone purrlleeeease help with this issue? I am now scared to answer any calls, lest I get shouted at with, "GOD WHAT WAS THAT NOISE? IT NEARLY DEAFENED ME!"
You really haven't give a lot of info here.
I mean what Rom are you running, what BT hardware and reg tweaks do your use etc.
Info is required to be of any assistance.
Note my signature shows exactly what Rom(s) I'm currently using.
Many thanks. Here are my versions:
HTC TyTN II
ROM: 1.0 Sleuth
ROM date: 08/28/07
Radio version: 1.27.12.11
Protocol version: 22.45.88.07H
Essentially I think a new Bluetooth stack might solve it, but I really wish to avoid losing all data by flashing a new ROM altogether.
A new Bluetooth stack on its own would be wonderful... or a way to restore my data back to a newer ROM. Would Sprite Backup do that if I use Sleuth's WM6.1 ROM?

I know the commercial version is supposed to support "Rom Upgrade" support but I'm not sure if that is in the version that is floating around the forums.
What you can do though is make a backup prior to upgrading.
Then upgrade to test if the problem is fixed in one of WM6.1 roms.
Then downgrade and restore your back-up.
Now you will know if there is even a point to expending the effort of trying to extract the BT Stack.
Don't take offense at this next statement but if you put forth that effort it might endear someone more skilled to your cause as you've provided a "Proof of Concept" so to speak.
Okay I have just upgraded to Sleuth's v3 (WM6.1). Sadly the bluetooth issue remains, despite the new Radio version.
If someone calls, and I answer using the bluetooth headset, for 1 second their audio is output to the speaker of the Kaiser. I believe it is during that second that they also hear the end of the ring tone, which is what deafens them.
An unsatisfactory workaround is to use a quite ringtone or vibrate only, but that is hardly ideal. If anyone knows of any other solution or a bluetooth stack that is a bit snappier when answering via headset, it would be great appreciated

Same issue here with the same new ROM.
I'm having the same problem. When I push the button on my BT HF it gives a horrible noise to the caller at the other end for a second. In my case I doubt it is ring tone, it doesn't sound anythin like the tone I'm using, it's just like loud crackling or smth.
I can't give you any version numbers cause by TyTN II is sent off to warranty (3rd time already). This time it stopped accepting and making calls while showing 3G symbol. Previously I had band selection on auto and had no problems. Now even after hard reset no calls could be made so off it went again. The first two faults where the speaker and the "Fn" light.
I am having the same problem, the handet is at HTC's repair facility for this and a few nagging issues. I will report what they find.
Mine isn't so much the ringtone it just sounds like a loud static sound. I thought it was the headset but I tried it with 3 different headsets and the Bluethooth in my car and they all have the same problem.
Got my phone back today and I can't say I'm impressed with HTC. First they requested that I send it in the original box then must have thrown it out and sent it in some crap box without enough padding. They didn't even send a note or invoice saying what had been done, which was nothing.
They claim they couldn't find anything wrong and when I called support the guy thought it a joke.
Needless to say it is still deafening and I am pissed.
Same Issue Here... It is almost as if there is a dely in cutting off the WAV/WMA file. Bluetooth Picks up and and both parties get the end of the ring tone.
Had the issued with the origional AT&T rom
Have the issue with Slueth 3.0 and Alex 5.2
If anyone finds a fix please let me know...
I am using PhoneAlarm - Don't know if that is related.
I've had the same complaints from some of my callers, and try to answer between rings as much as possible. The complaints have gone way down. Of course, we shouldn't have to jump thru hoops to answer our phones!
Does anyone have contact info to point HTC to this worrying thread? We need a patch release ASAP. A phone that can't answer calls properly? Yikes.
No issues with my BlueAnt Z9. Have you guys tried different headsets?
I think you may have just been lucky. It is uncommon to A) answer during the ringtone, and B) have the caller complain about the loud noise.
It happens on my Bluetooth earpiece, and Nokia car kit, and JVC car kit. So, it is for HTC to resolve.
I've tried three headsets and it happens on all of them. It happens even when I have the phone on vibrate.
I spent an hour on the phone with HTC support and they are awful, even after telling her that it happens on three different headsets she says that is sounds like a headset issue not an issue with the phone.
When I explained for the third time that I would agree if it happend with one headset but since it happens with all of the headsets it would support my arguement that it is an issue with the phone.
It was like talking to a wall. I wish I had an alternitive to HTC at this point, I love their design and have never had a problem with any of their other phones but this their lack of support is amazing.
I think its with all HTC phones. Happened with my Dash - Wing and now Tilt.
But I've never had anyone complain about hearing music on their end...I can just hear it on my headset for about 1 sec. I've also had my SMS tone play wile on a call and also my VM tone play while on a call and I've asked them if they heard that and they said no.
I also only use noise cancelling headsets.

I've never had a problem with any other handset, I've had a Qtek 9100, MDA, O2 Exec, Wing and a Dash.... crap I spent a lot on phones. The only one I've had problems with is the TyTNII.
Same problem here. And sometimes the speaker will very briefly go into speaker mode as I answer! Not good.

software that can record both sides of a phone call

I have WM 6.1 installed on my Kaiser.
I would like good software that can record both sides of a phone call.
I have tried to install Resco Audio Recorder v4, and it didn't do the job.
Please advice.
Thanks.
It's been asked before...as far as I know it doesn't exist.
Partly because of legal implications I suspect.
It is not illegal in all the contries, so I think there is a solution for this.
Audio Software
Hi
I have been using Resco for quite some time, works perfect.
Have TYTNII with one of Dutty's ROMS.
I don't think it is software dependent. I have seen several posts regarding this, and it is (supposedly) hardware dependent. I've used vito with mixed results. Maybe Resco. Will Try.
How did you managed to record using Resco?
What did you do?
I have tried using this software and it didn't record the other side.
It has been mentioned countless times on this forum... both sides recording is not possible b'coz.. the hardware does not allow for it...
If this is a hardware issue, how come some people succeeded to record both sides?
It only works with the speaker enabled as far as I'm aware.

i did searching as well for the same thing, its not possible due to hardware limitations, but if you have the speaker on, the mic will pick up what the person on the other end is saying. but there is no way to do it internally. it may also be possible with some bluetooth devices, but im guessing they would be expensive.
No way! I use Vito Audio Notes and it works most of the time. I record phone calls and meetings and such all the time.
Kraize
During call, go to note, select menu and tap 'view recording toolbar' and it worked for me.. it shud for you!
enjoy.

I did this same thing when i originally was looking for a solution. It did record the conversation, but the other end was always way way softer then my end. is this the case on your phones?
Same here. With both the HTC recorder and VITO Audio notes. It's supposed to be that way I suppose.
i install vito audio notes 1.32 in my atom life.records perfect both sides.the same program in my xda orbit 2 records only my side.i thing it depents to the hardware.

Call Recording problems on X1 HELP!!!

Hello everyone,
can not say that it is like "to live or not to live" but still important, and i belie not only for me.
I have tried a lot of different call recording software for WM.
The problem is that during call recoding it just records the microphone, but not the dynamic.
It just works like simple Voice recorder.
Most advanced I think was the tool from Resco. It has even the input device list in which I've chosen "Cellular Line" but still... no result.
I even have few times changed the firmware
I'm interested:
1) If it's only in my phone and you did not experienced such problem on yours
2) You guys can do the miracle ???

anyone ?
I can't do the ICR as well.
However, many of the people in the forum said they can...
I am wondering how as well.
I think this is not software, this is hardware problem. Something with laws reasons. Anyway, no program to able to write sound from hardware speaker.
Another way to use that programs - try to use recording with BT hendsfree.

Thanks, but obviously there are people claiming that they can do it with their X1s. Therefore we are asking why and how.

The speakerphone trick is not possible while you are using it outdoors, which is unfavourable for most of the time
Thanks anyway
Have you try this?

I just tried your method, it seems that it actually records passively via the vibrations from the speaker to the mic, or via the actual output from the speaker. Recording in a silent environment I can barely hear the person on the other end even at max volume.
I guess this option isn't really a working solution.
At this point it does make me think that there are hardware differences between X1s we have...
I am using X1i made in Y09W03, which I can't get the ICR to work...
Can those who make ICR work state their model and manufacture date as well?
Thanks
For a start, there may be some confusion here, some are using simply the notes application which can be accessed by menu (right softkey) during call and then record a sound in new note. Other it seems are using a recording software.
That being it, it is so unlikely, that it is nearing impossible that there would be hardware differences in the phone causing such significant difference in functionality. They have a specification to keep.
That being said, the cases describedas working I would put down to a difference in opinion on what "working" is considered to mean exactly.
P.S. X1i UK Y08W52
How about BTHF?
I heard some people had claimed that they can record both streams through BTHF... ark... things getting confusing: but I just want ICR on my X1, for the best I just pick up the phone to record all the in call voices, or using the HF comes with X1, or the worst BTHF (which I dont have one right now).
Just to keep you updated:
BTHF - No Good.
In Mobile01, some users claimed that if you use plastic "jelly" type protection case, it will help you divert the other parties' voices from the earpiece to the microphone, which in case help the ICR.
I am looking into issues and possibilities from the threads in Touch HD to make ICR work with Xperia X1.
I just freakingly hate it when people make false claims. That in any other way doesn't help but rather contribute to confusions.
Firstly, you can't even say that it records voice calls simply because the extreme silenced environment enables the mic to hear the whispers coming from the earpiece of the phone. Or saying that you just have to turn on the speaker phone while on record.
That definitely isn't a way a developer would do to claim anything about recording voice calls.
I'm sure you guys have other phones rather than PPCs say later nokias and later SEs perhaps. Whenever someone is calling you, you can simply press softkey and press record, and it will record the conversation and "stop recording" whoever hangs up first which doesn't happen to notes-recording.
Reviewing the recorded message is simply just as clear as having two people on phone patch just like our President's phone patch scam.
Dude, by far this thing DOESN'T record voice calls as I have tried to search. These claims are just workarounds. And If this do ever record voice calls, then you wouldn't even have to search the whole damn features finding where the record button is. Simply put.
>>MrLeche
Thanks for your comments, but the fact is that the recent Touch HD movements have granted us some hopes. People in Taiwanese forums are making use of the patch to apply on various of HTC phones and got positive results - therefore this has given some people, at least the stupid me, to do some further testing and research before closing the issue prematurely.
Did everyone just give up or did someone find the "cure" and I missed it?
I have tried everything possible but have not been able.
Just out of curiosity is this possible:
I have seen a program that diverts the sound from the speakerphone to the earpiece for use with skype. Could a virtual device be created to emulate a speaker, have sound diverted to the virtual device then to the real earpiece or speakerphone? This would allow the virtual device to send the sound from the other party to the recorder and hence record both sides of the conversation.
Maybe the above makes no sense but just wondering.
If anyone has been able to record both sides of the conversation at reasonable volume levels on an X1, I am interested in finding out how.

Thanks but unfortunately that is not an option for me. I would like to record all calls and the speakerphone option is just too awkward for normal phone use.
