In the pictures all over the net, I see the Kaiser as either being completely black or being dark gray. Now I just received mine and it seems to be light silver/gray on the front side of the phone. What's up with that? Is it like this for everyone else or like, are there different versions going around?
yeah, mine is like that as well. i would have preferred all black, but i can't complain.

all black would have been great. i bet orange will make it like that, they always change the housing with a very good design !
agreed. Can that bit of plastic be removed? You could probably spray it with a black laquer quite easily if you could get it off without breaking it.
Anyone here how actualy does have a black kaiser? And is it still a 120 model?
Anyone knows who sells those black ones? All I see now are the silver models, and I would really like mine to be black.
tia,
Cheers,

this is the true colors of the HTC Kaiser:
my kaiser has a black rubbery back, black keyboard, black upper housing around the screen bit and a gray/silver brushed metal looking screen besel
yea like the post above ^^

I guess it depends on what you think of as "light grey / silver". I would say it's closer to gunmetal / dark grey than silver. It's probably one of the nicest designs I've seen on a phone of this type... IMHO.
All the unlocked ones are dark grey / black.
Now the T-Mobile version is most certainly silver.
The Black Kaisers are the 100 (without camera) and 110 (without 3G) they gonna released soon.
This is what mine looks like.

I'm looking at my Vario III right now, and it's most definitely NOT silver. It's a gunmetal/dark grey with a brushed steel effect on the front. Silver is very light coloured.
is the kaiser also known as the TyTN 2 or is that a different phone?

Kaiser is the development project name for the phone. TyTn II is the official release product name. Other names such as MDA Vario III are brand names used by certain carriers such as T-Mobile.

Could you post a pic? The promotional photos I saw looked really bright... At least compared to the HTC version.
Give us BLACK Kaiser 120 Damn it.

Well, that sucks. Save the best color for their cheaper, less featured models... HTC's stupidity continues to astound me.

I have yet to see any pictures of all completely black Kaisers... And the 110 without the front camera is being sold by AT&T in the same housing (save the awful chrome buttons) as the full unlocked version. I am skeptical as to the existence of any "black" Tytyn IIs.

Black is like... the best color for any piece of electronics. I can't believe they'd just skip past it in favor of light silver/gray. What is this world coming to?!
I find every picture I take with the diamond sub par and not even 3 megapixel standard. my resolution is def set to highest. even my missus's iphone produces sharper more defined pics. diamond pics are soft, cloudy and blotchy when zoomedl auto white balance is useless, always gets things wrong and I have to always fiddle around with manual settings. what are your experiences?
Original files are in zip.. When you hold the td perfectly still the photo's are ok.. when te conditions are worse, i.e. your walking/moving, in darker places, the quality runs back quickly.
I found the camera amazing (except for in the dark, while contra-light doesn't seem to matter that match). Good quality, high-res pictures if you allow it to focus correctly and hold still. Some good modes too.
Prety much the same. Only way to get a reasonable pic is to remove the back when I need as good a quality as possible, and when I do so they're passable. Find auto WB is ok outdoors, but rubbish indoors (badly washed out), and needs a bit of fiddling to get the best out of it.
Bit of a nause, but I'm not a prolific snapper, so it's not the end of the world for me.
camera is amazing on light.
but in the dark it is really ****.

This is exactly what has been said before, i completely agree and I did some tests on it to. Both my images showed that with the cover on, cloudy, misty pictures and with the cover off, good quality, reasonably sharp pictures.

I do also agree that indoors and in low light the quality isn't that great but outdoors especially in good light the pictures are pretty good. Would be great if there was some sort of software tweak or software upgrade that would improve the quality of the pictures produced.
But at the end of the day we all know it all goes down to the quality of the camera that the manufacturer has used in the device. Im reasonably happy with the 3.2 megapixel that was used but with things like the Samsung i900 Omnia coming out / recently out with a pretty good 5 mega pixel hopefully HTC will take note and upgrade the cameras in future devices.
Im happy with mine, taking the back cover off can be a pain, but it works for me! (For now, hehe!)
Compared to what I just came from (a terrible VGA cam in a Motorola V3), I think the camera is amazing. It's not up to proper camera levels, but if I was after a camera for more than the occasional picture, I'd buy a proper digital cam or one of these phone/camera hybrids.
It does require a steady hand though, and it very low light it's not good, but even in relatively poor light it still did better than I was expecting.
Its just 'OK' in the light and useless in dark.
okay. tried with the cover off and theres definately an improvement, although still not perfect. however, its going to be a major pain in the arse to take the back cover off everytime I want to take an improv picture.

push the lense cover out....worked for me
but then you have the problems or crap getting in the back of the phone
Pretty good during the day, but at night it turns to ****, my guess is that it tries to prolong the shutter speed instead of increase the gain / ISO sensitivity.
HTC need to learn 2 program.

what if we cover the hole with clear screen protector film?
it would warp the image, short of proper optics you cant just cover a hole an take a picture through it, what we need it some sort of shutter on the back panel, quite easy to manufacture if someone could be bothered

you have any idea what does it take in terms of sensor circuitry to increase ISO sensitivity?
you have any idea how expensive a good camera sensor is (not the crap you see in consumer cameras, which are also **** in the dark)?
guys, I think you're just being unrealistic about what a phone camera should do.
I cleaned up my cover lens and I pushed it more that I wanted and ups it is out so now Im glad with clean photos and once a time I clean up hole back under cover...
...but about steady hand and good not blurry pictures...does anybody worked sports or burst mode with resolution higher than size "L"

can popping out the lens cover really damage the phone?
well
you'll get dust inside, this shall be most notably when wearing it in pocket...
i managed it by putting a plastic seal around it:
i took one of those cable holders which came with the diamond (e.g. holding the headset together) cut it in the middle (so it was half as high as before) and placed it around the lense
now its closed again (teste with very fine sand) and i got much better photos....
(sry for the bad english ;D - I hope you can get what i mean)
Im wearing it in my pocket and its not that horible than I expected so its your choice...no damage btw glue is still there so its the matter of 2 sec to stick it up...
If you don't want to remove the lens cover, then clean the cover. Have a look at your cover and you should see why the picture comes out the way it does.
I.ve been watching this forum for more on this issue. The camera is crap. I upgraded to the htc rom because it said it made camera improvements. Bull***t. It’s still the same. I take loads of photos and almost all with the diamond have some sort of blurriness. If you have some sort of movement when the photo is taken then it blurs’. Examples below. Because of what another member posted about the same problem. I will be contacting htc support.

My old 2.0 mp Artemis and 3.0 mp Tytn II never had this problem.

And could anyone tell me, what is it for and can I remove it, if i do will it mess up the picture?
Regards

Try checking your white balance in the camera settings. Set it to Auto. Sunny setting is usually orange tinted while Incandescent setting is blue.
The orange tint you see on your lens is not a plastic layer. The lens is probably coated to prevent lens flare or other excessive lighting. If you look closely at the lens of point and shoot cameras, you'll also notice this tint (even in high-end cameras). I noticed that cheap or low end camera phones do not have this.
Hope this helps.
Have you replace your case recently? I do have this problem because the new case comes w/ a yellow tape inside. I remove the tape and everything back to normal.
today i have noticed that there is a very small black dot on lcd, but i dont think its a dead pixel, because its visible when the screen is off, like a little dust under screen !
is it possible that dust goes under hd7 screen ?
how can i fix that ?
I have the same issue. But I leave it as it is ´cause I don´t want to make it worse and in normal operating it doesn´t bug me so much.
what is it ? is it dust or dead pixel do you think ?
but its annoying in white background
Well indeed I think it is a dead black pixel since it doesn't move like dust.
It doesn't disturb since the display never is fully cleaned :-]
My first HD7 had dust under the screen straight out the box, 2 specks by the arrow up the top right, I exchanged it as it also had a gap on the battery cover so I could see the SIM card.
replacement was perfect, so a bit of dodgy quality control at HTC by the looks of it..

hi John.
I have HD7 and the battery cover has a gap- as you described...
where did you send your hd7 in order to be replaced?
Did you send it dirtectly in HTC's?
or did you address to the shop you bought it?
how many days did they spend to replace your mobile?
Thanks for your help
the small dots under the screen is not dust specs.
its actually the insulators builted in the screen..
if u place the screen under then sun with a black screen (lcd off) u can see there is actually quite a number of them.
they are visible if u tilt it to a certain angle..
i place a matte type screen protector and its not visible anymore.
anyway i still hate the tarnished camera button.
nevertheless, my kick stand starts to paint-pill even though i have not even use them. =(
but i still love wp7.

I know what are you saying, but this dot is different from them, its not on that grid, its only one and when the background is white its visible as dark color
but i dont think its a dead pixel too, it is a little far from lcd and seems to be under the front glass !
I couldnt do anything with it
I listed these in the For Sale section but figured you guys would have interest.
Click here to check em out.
There's a white and black both barely used great condition.
I am interested and what are the requirements to receive it ?
I just sold the white one for 15. If you interested in the black let me know. I'm sure we can set something up.
is there a chance to get my IncS complete in white? the back cover in white looks great but i guess it doesnt look nice with a black front.
The link doesn't work for me. Link a picture please.
Hi. Do you still have the black one?
is the white 1 still available?

Quite fancy the red one - but how do you change the front cover? My workmanship skills extend only to changing the occasional lightbulb...

By the way, I have detached the front facing case(only the frame around the screen). Beacuse it was streched a little.
Now the question is, can I paint this part. And if possible how
