Difference between AT&T Tilt and AT&T Tilt NC? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

Does it mean No Camera?
I would like to confirm that.
Thanks

Your correct. One has a camera the other one doesn't.

yes, according to the manuals, the AT&T Tilt NC has no camera, and is also the AT&T 8900 whereas the Tilt with cam is the 8925

Did you mean FRONT camera? Or some of these devices has no camera at all?

Neither Tilt has the front camera; the Tilt NC has no camera at all.

Unbranded Kaiser on AT&T?

Okay, sorry for the n00bish questions, but I've been on Sprint forever and don't really have a lot of experience with unlocked phones...
I'm planning on leaving Sprint and gettiong a Tilt. So I was watching some you tube videos of the Tilt, and I got to one that was an unbranded Kaiser (or Tytn 2, whatever). Instead of AT&T it had HTC on the top...
Anyway, it had a camera on the front for video calls, and appeared to have all the other features of the AT&T branded device.
Does anyone know if everything works on the unbranded version on AT&T? Would the video calling work? If no video calling, is there a messenger type app that would let me video chat (assuming I knew someone else that had the same app)? And the push to talk? How about the MMS? 3G data?
Any other issues I should be aware of before I buy an unlocked Kaiser?
I'm not a current AT&T customer, but I'm seriously thinking about leaving Sprint and getting a Tilt. But if the AT&T branded unit has less features than the unbranded unit, I'd rather go that route...

8525 3G?

Don't know if this is the right spot, but, I am looking at an 8525 on Ebay and they state that it is a 3G phone... I thought the 8925 was the 3G model... Am I thinking correctly??
Here is the phone:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Unlocked-HTC-85...39:1|66:2|65:12|240:1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
The 8525 is also a 3G phone. The major differences between the two are the camera/gps/RAM and ROM space/ and dual core processor. I had both and the 8925 is definitely a far superior phone.
**Edit**
This should actually be in the Hermes forum.........

Video Chat in the USA

So i would like to know how many people currently live in the USA and at this very moment, not in the future but today, have and would use the front facing camera with something like skype for video conferencing.
would love the feature but we need a front facing camera, so far no network in america would support such feature cuz even though they all claiming to have america largest 3G network, none of them cant even support true front camera vid chat, it sucks and if we do video chat right now, its via WiFi

not true i teather my phone to my laptop and video chat all the time and it works just fine.
This I never understood... I just came down from Canada and got the Fuze... I had expected it to have the front faceing camera. Up in Canada if you're on the Rogers AT&T network they have a TON of phones that use video calling.
Here's a link to their touch diamond.. which you can see has a front facing camera:

it's working great! except it doesn't use the BT mic, only the built in one
just to test this, i purchased two nokia 6120's a while back and got two att sim cards with unlimited videoshare and data on both accounts. Then I attempted to start a video call while on 3g and it failed. this came as no surprise because carriers are able to charge us for video calling and sharing so there must be something on their networks that detects this which means that the netwoirk did not have the rite settings. I attemped this in 2007 so there were no plans to roll it out then
me!
I live in the US and would love this and i know i can see people who call me from skype with video on my fuse just that theres now way for them to see me.

don't you have to pay for it and it only worked for my back camera not front camera.
it is because Americans are deprived of cutting edge technology or something they cant charge us for more down the line. look at verizon and their phones they cripple them so you need to buy the features. thieves

If the AT&T network up in Canada can support it why doesnt their network in the states?

The Fuze isn't the Diamond though. The Touch Pro does have a secondary camera according to HTC though.

I wonder if it's still there and just covered by the faceplate?

I really wanted to take advantage of the front-facing camera, so I'm going to get that software.
BTW, I don't know if I should start another thread, but I always thought the front-facing camera would be a good 'security' camera - is there a way to get it to record in the background?

Because reindeer dont need much bandwidth.
Last time i saw the verizon site at fenway it had 7 T-1's. And they could still improve it. The infastructure your talking about, has to be in place to support all this traffic. That maybe why you dont see a full-on videochat launch in the u.s. yet.
At&t announced 4g buildouts by 2012 in certain markets. Keep your fingers crossed. A mix of land/cell technology capable of all the "wii-max" type features.

The Diamond AND the Touch Pro over seas version have the front facing camera. The Diamond over in Canada on Rogers ATT Network has this however they dont have the touch pro (Fuze). Regardless from living in Canada for years I saw promos for their phones that allowed video calling to other phones directly and thought it was VERY cool. I assumed coming down here it would be the same. I was suprised when ATT in the states didnt provide the service. Not to mention pulled the front facing camera's right out of the phone. My understanding was it isnt there at all, not just hidden under the case.

I would ONLY if there were peope I know that use it, it's a great feature and all, but if you're the only one with it, well, it's kinda useless. My family and friends are on many different networks, AT&T, Verizon, US Cellular, T-Mobile as well.

Front camera vs no front camera

In all the pics I see of "our" phone on the net, there is a FRONT camera as well as a back camera. On MY phone, there is no front camera, only the main camera in the back. From what I've read, there are two model numbers for this phone. The p3100 and the p3700. I'm assuming the LACK of a front camera means mine is the p3100? Any info would be appreciated...

Very strange. Mine is an unlocked GSM version complete with t mobile prepaid sim card, and NO front camera. Seems like they were doing a lot of model changes and upgrades at one point.
