is the Tilt really that slow? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

if so, how much of that slowness is the AT&T loaded ROM? Is the HTC ROM faster?
I've had a Wizard since it launched on Tmobile, I've been salivating over the Kaiser for the last year or so but now that it's out I've read a lot of reviews that focus on how slow it is compared to the Mogul on Sprint.
I need to get off Tmobile (no 3G is getting to be too much of a hassle) and need a new phone (my Wizard is running strong, but it's 2 years old and lacks features I want) and I was pretty certain the Kaiser and AT&T would be my next move, but now w/ the reviews I'm wondering if the Mogul and Sprint would be better (if it had built in GPS it'd be a lock).

well, my tilt was slow at first. then i tweak the registry a little bit, now its really moving fast.

Ordered my tilt today. Any chance you could elaborate on what registry tweaks you did to speed things up?

Not slow in my opinion (noticably faster than the TyTn), but then I'm using the HTC Rom that is generally recognised as smooth, quick and believe it or not after nearly two months I have not had to do any unwanted soft resets and NO hard resets.
PIE scrolling is painfully slow (a recognised bug) , but Opera Mini and Opera Mobile work very nicely and fast.
So I guess if folk say the Tilt is slow then it's an ATT ROM issue.

What have you learned from your Kaiser?

I am getting my Tilt in the mail on monday, and am wondering what everybody wishes they had known to (or not to) do when they first unboxed it and did the initial boot.
Should I skip the AT&T bloatware, or is it really not that horrible to deal with? Should I play with settings and the tweaks, or should I just not waste my time and flash the thing? Should I do a rain dance before putting the battery in, in hopes it will hold off the red led?
Oh, and I am coming from a wizard that I have flashed no less than a dozen times, and have gone through every UI i can find (legally or not). And am VERY impressed with the latest pointui release, which may or may not find it's way onto the tilt the day I open it.
Thanks!!
If your comming from a wizzard then you are bound to find out that your wizzard was faster. the Kaiser is slow in different areas and lacks Video Drivers.
From the Kaiser I've learned what COULD be accomplished with a PPC, and how fast it could be, but it isnt quite there yet...

My Tilt still treats me fine..... Yes, drivers would be nice but for everyday use, I couldn't have gone wrong. Waiting to see what the official WM6.1 will hold.
You are gonna have fun!
I personally would leave it alone for 30 days so you can get a base line.
Bill
iPhone will be my next phone if the next HTC product isn't better.
your gonna love it
I just got my tilt last week cuz I got drunk and lost my wizzard.
first let me say your going to love the tilt
no more of that A-GPS crap now you've got real gps
also 3G which is so so so much faster
oh and there is this panarma feature that is realy neat
somethings I wish I know and imo are notwqorthy
the keyboard FN keys are totalls different but that's just getting usto
commercial eing from thw wizard I bet your usto scrolling with scroll bars well in the titlt u can grab and scroll tuff to explain but think of it like moveing a physical peicse of paper in front of you up and down
I would kep the att rom for atleast a week cuz u get some nifty applications like mobi tv xm ssatileite radio trail for 3 days each
lastly gogle maps atleast for me sucks gmaps like forgets I have a gps after like 1 or 2 minutes I hate to say it but M$ live is far superior the gps part is acurete and updates very nicely
ps
don't forget to run the quick gps location under tools before using the gps
quick gps downloads where the satellites are in orbit for faster aqusition time
I belive if u don't do this the gps has to search and find em but doing this it knows and just has to connect
my 2 cents on the tilt hope you found this helpful

Pure bollocks.
I've had a Wizard, Hermes, and just got a tilt a week ago.
I can personally say the tilt/kaiser is WAY faster than the Hermes, which was way faster than the Wizard.
Dutty's wm6.1 non-cube rom is great. No hard resets. In fact it hasn't locked up on me once.
What did I learn about my Tilt
I've learned several things about the Tilt in general:
Considering I've come from a MIO P550 GPS/PDA and an ATT Razor v3m, the Kaiser is a suprisingly good compromise between the two.
The GPS is far more accurate (though I have yet to find an affordable and decent map solution) than the P550;
not as good on picking up a usable signal as the V3 (but not bad either).
Battery life is a little better than the MIO P550 PDA.
Screen's smaller but plays video a hell of a lot better than either the V3 or the P550.
Definitely lose the AT&T bloat ware...most of the non subscription stuff you can get to from Media Net anyway. Besides I don't use half of it anyway.
I used SPB Pocket Plus on the PDA, it works just fine here too.
Bluetooth...the bane of the Tilt's existence. Call audio sucks and Voice command doesn't work over the headset (yeah I know there's hacks out there). I'm hoping if and when the official WM 6.1 for ATT comes out this will resolve.
RLOD - So far I've been blessed, but the thing is still under warranty so chances are it'll happen one minute after that warranty expires...(Murphy's law doncha know...)I know where to go to fix that little mess and possible problems.
Overall, I'd say I'm satisfied with the Kaiser/TyTnII/Tilt, it does exactly what I want it to, when I need it to. Like many products I've experienced, it has its quirks, but it also has its charm too. I'm half tempted to flash to Dutty's WM 6.1 for ATT, but I think I'll just wait (for a very long time from what I hear) for the official HTC release.
I <3 my tilt all day long! So yeah, I can type out a whole sentence before the first letter is displayed, that doesn't mean my tilt doesn't <3 me back. Or does it?
On a serious note, I think the tilt is great and yes there could be video drivers, but that was so 2007, I have learned to love it even with its flaws.
GPS owns!
Among the first things I would do:
Find the Bluetooth audio quality and microphone hacks.
Get rid of Cyberon, and get MS Voice Command 1.6.
Find the PTT Button Remap hack, and map MSVC to it.
Find the hack for One-Button activation of MSVC from BT headset.
This has made all the difference for my use in the car, the office, and on the jobsite; I don't have to touch the phone to use it, which is as it should be!
First off: change your rom. much faster, more usable.
what did i learn?
well tilt was my first pda and first phone with a physical keyboard.
i learned:
_xda community is a great place
_3G is not all its cracked up to be. At all.
_physical keyboard is not at all more accurate than my ipod's touch keyboard. No lie.
_if I have wifi, im def gonna be browsing with my ipod touch. faster, better, and much easier.
_i would buy another htc product, but not until they get their sht straight. hopefully soon.
_Dutty is a your friend
_touchscreen is not touchscreen if it doesnt have multitouch (unless you use your stylus, but who has time for that?)
Wish i had know of the driver issue b4 getting and 18 month contract 6 down 12 to go ....
I wish my hermes would have lasted longer..... damn white screen!!
What have you learned from your Kaiser?

That I need eye surgery to read the damn thing! Seriously, although these (older) eyes are getting worse by the day, I am very happy with mine.
That they don't like being dipped in Castrol Synthetic 10w/40.
What I have Learned:
Tilt NEEDS to be tweeked out from unboxing to become user friendly. (IMO)
Reading on this site (Wiki and ROM threads) helps you tweek your phone how you would like it. Radio's work differently for different people in different areas.
Every ROM is different and can be custom fit to your prefrence by searching or asking questions in the CORRECT thread.
There are many helpful people on this site so watch the way to respond to people and their answers. Always say thanks!!!
You can accomplish anything with this site (I have been on here since Oct. 07' and I have never started a thread!) I just have common sense to know where to post
Have a great day!

p.s. P1 but the Castrol Synthetic 10w/40 helped the keyboard right....lol!
What did I learn?
Not to buy a HTC anymore. It promises a lot and delivers less.
Although I am not unhappy with this device it never gave me what I expected after reading several reviews. It is slow, heavy, bad camera, etc.
I had hoped that HTC would be a bit more customer focused.
..
TyTN II.. Is great!
-GPS
-Keyboard
-Tilting screen :O..
-Video Drivers (o.o?.. ok no no Video drivers).
-400 Mhz!!..
-2 cameras
-Poor performance of principal camera on dark places.
-Fully Customizable : D!
-3G.. (here in mexico that means: "videocalls Dude!!")
-HSDPA (Unlimited data plan and you get Fast Broadband Internet Connection On The Go! .. use it with your laptop )
-A2DP !!
-WiFi..(when you dont have Unlimited data plan !)
-I said Tilting screen already? :O
-MicroSDHC.. (that means 32gb of Memory.. or Multiple memory cards ..)
-Office
-MMS
-SMS
-Push to Mail
-PTT
-Voice Commander!! (its funny ear your phone read your sms's!)
-And more more more...
The only thing that it needs is the Prover video Drivers...
And because of that many people is saying things like that
"Not to buy a HTC anymore. It promises a lot and delivers less."

Should I shouldn't I

Question to all you with this stunner of a phone already.
Is it as slow as everyone say's it is.?
Does importing any of the roms available make any difference to the speed?
Should I hold out for the pro? (T-Mobile Vario IV) Though I hate the T-mobile branding and white screen. I presume I will be able to replace the rom.
Your expertease guidance is needed in me making a quick decision.
Thanks guys/gals
Between Diamond and Diamond Pro,it's all a matter of size, keyboard and battery.
Anyway, this is a great device, the best I've had if I may say so. I had also many other HTC before this one, and this Diamond is a master piece
No,it's not slow. It's not hyper-fast as well. But it's far from saying it's not usable because it's slow.
As a matter of fact, even with original ROM inside, it's the fastest HTC I've tried until now... (I tried almost all HTC since the old Qtek S100).
So, if you want my advice: buy one NOW,and join us with our problems, and our solutions, but always having a great time here
HastaSSSS
He is totally right, I have had quit some htc devices already and by far this is the fastest.
What many people or complaining about is the touch3d today interface that is lagging. but the device its self is quit impressive. To have that technology in such a compact device, is all my dream come true...
I really love the device, and the only problem is the battery for me. But i saw that soon there will be a battery with 1100mha for it, so i am waiting for it...
I assume you've had a WM device before?
If you remove touchflo its actually a very very fast device. With touchflo its quite slugish.
With european ROM 1.37.401.3, I found TouchFlo surprisingly fast
Give it a shot,in case you haven't done so already.

I've tried all the roms and multiple tweaks. I'm no stranger to playing in the registry! What i've found is:
1) Touchflo is not very intuitive. Its show over function, and its too slow to get to where you need to go quickly.
2) Its far too easy to press the wrong thing in touchflo and the screen feels like its not sensative enough to deal with finger navigation.
3) At times touchflo just freezes, or lags - yes in every rom with every tweak. This makes problem 2) even worse and leads to frustration.
BUT..
I've found that the touch screen actually is good enough, and after changing the pressure to 240 (or even 50 to 60) it works great in everything except touchflo. Touchflow has its on finger pressure setting which doesnt seem to make much difference.
When using other navigation programs like pointui or mobile shell there are no lags, and you can actually use the phone properly. In fact mobile shell is so fast it feels comparable to an iphone.
Touchflo is ok, but in my opinion needs alot more tweaking and i may come back to it in a few months, but for now i'm using mobileshell.

Yup, no noticeable lag. TF3D is VERY useable now, IMHO.
Thanks for the pro's and con's from you real users.
I have been with XDA for the past 3 years had many flavours of win mobile devices and many HTC phones in the past and I know to only ask them in know to get the truth so a big thanks.
Think I will wait and see what T-Mobile UK offers and opt for the pro for the keyboard and extra battery life.
thanks again

It can be instaled using unsigned hardSPL - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400950 or original SPL from HTC(maybe regionally dependent)
If there is no request already, you can ask for signed version here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=400411
i spent 48 hours with my diamond now, didn't modd to much now,
because i am waiting for a rom that fits my needs.
Nevertheless i really love my new baby..
(alltough most people complain about the battery-power i have to say after i did some tweaking as written down somewhere here, it is not that bad)
btw. Touchflow feels qouite snappy compared with my old wizard an UL..^^

Diamond speed...any complaints?

Hi all,
I am seriously considering getting one of these after they showed up in a shop here last week. I spent about ten minutes playing with it and was mightily impressed with the TF3D interace and the accelerometer ball game had me grinning like a schoolboy (haptic feedback kicks butt). One thing I noticed is that the main UI seemd to run pretty slow. It took about a second before the screen would slide to a new page when using gestures, is that normal? I suspect that it is probably a problem with the crummy ROM they had (the Chinese ROM's they put on HTC phones here are worthless, the Hermes was unuseable out of the box, which is is what lead me to find the gold-mine of geniuses here on XDA).
Anyway, to make a long post short, does anyone have any issues wtih speed on thier diamond? Anyone using anything other than a stock ROM at the moment? Thanks!
After having played with TF3D a bit (didn't care much for it), I personally use a "Clean" ROM from Panosha or bElite (plain WM61, without TF3D) and it runs very fast and has 70MB free with SBP Mobile Shell.
My diamond doesn't seem any faster than my old artemis. I've disabled touchflo 3D and it's still just as sluggish as any other slower CPU phone.

Have You changed your ROM, or is it the stock ROM?
currently using a cooked rom from the Dutty and Tom Project team diamond V2. With the TF3D in that is very fast, but that is due to the loss of some animation. such as side to side sweeping,
but that is something which i can live with.

I am still with Hermes, but couple of weeks ago went with a friend to get for him Diamond (from ZGC )
This gave me the opportunity to play with original (English) Rom and Chinese one too. Diamond experience ~4+ hours
(1) I felt the same :
(2/3) No, it is not a problem of the "crummy ROM". Diamond performs very slow compared to my Hermes (customized ROM + modifications). My friend runs origianl ROM and is very jealeous about the responsivness and speed of old TyTN
(3) Yes, after I got the TyTN that was the reason to find XDA-Devs too
- My feeling is the interface on Diamond is tooo heavy, which causes raely slow performance. For me personally this device makes sense after getting some clean rom on it. Well, in case getting the device more on "cool factor" side, I think it is coool - but for working device I still preffer what I have now
(perosnaly prefer to wait for Raphael and X1, and then will make my mind about changing device)
As stated, Dutty's ROM shows significant improvements to the performance/speed/stability/touch-sensitivity of the Diamond. I had quite a few complaints myself, about the poor performance of the Diamond as it was OOTB - but I knew that there most likely would be when I bought the phone.. however, i ALSO knew that there were chefs and cooks in these forums who always impress us with their mad-ass skills in creating the best ROMs in terms of performance 'n prettiness. All hail the Diamond chefs and cooks! You've seriously gotten me falling in love with my Diamond even more.
it Flies

I am also using the Panosha Clean ROM and Mobile Shell 2.1 and the phone absolutely flies, it leaves my Cruise for dead. For me this is the fastest Wm6 phone I have ever owned and I have owned a heap of them.
THanks to everyone for all the responses, it's interesting that the TF3D seems to cause performance issues for a lot of people. That also dissapoints me a but as I was thinking of holding out for the touch-pro, but by checking pdadb.net I see that they will have the same processor so can probably expect similar performance issues....is that correct?
Also, I wasn't knocking all Chinese ROM's, there are some awesome ones out there and I have used several for my hermes, I was knocking the crummy ones the guy at my local shop seems to dig up.
Anyway I guess the thing to do is wait for the deelopers here to come up with a fast ROM for these devices that doesn't sacrifice TF3D. I am sure they will figure it out and I wil absolutely DONATE, as should everyone who keeps a ROM on thier phone for more than a few days. THe fact is that our devices would suck without the work of people in the community and we should give something back to those who put down hard-earned money to be the first to buy these phones and then spend the time to make them work for the rest of us. Just my 2 cents....

Hermes to Kaiser - Hi

Hi all,
Finally did it and got myself a Kaiser. Long time Hermes user/supporter.
Im busy reading all the faq's and wiki but what do you suggest i have a look at in roms?
I know CRC's/DVTs were preferential in Hermes dont know enough about Kaiser cooks yet, although i do see a few of the older names that have moved on.
Im in Aus, and this phone is stock so im going to have to do radio as well.
Glad to meet you and hope to be an active contributor here as well.
Try them all, that's what I did... till I settled with one I personally liked. There is no risk involved once phone is completely sim/security unlocked, just time...
Mate,
Enjoy your new phone I did the same change about 6 months ago.
I am in Melbourne and have tried a big selection of the roms available.
Firstly use Kaiser Unlocker to hardspl sim/cid unlock.
Then Jumpspl to change to hardspl 3.56
My suggestion would be try the Garmin1.2 rom or version 2 if it is out when you check.
Try the radio that loads with this rom or
Change to neon 1.65.24.36
This setup works great for my location with no problems that I have noticed..
Have Fun
Thanks Halon,
My 2 specialities was Media Centers and Hermes programming. So I feel and I guess that I am back to noob status
Its great to get a point in the right direction.
Reading the Wiki's and it seems like alot more info/processes than the old Hermes.
Everyones a noob at something.
There is a lot of information here and dare I say it a lot of it can be confusing and a bit disjointed but I am sure with your previous experience with the Hermes you'll be flying real soon.
UPDATE -
Reading vast amounts of information in one night - I have configured the Kaiser with Garmin's 2 ROM!
Halon .. i have done all of your suggestions and everything is working well. (Except for MSVC which slowed down the entire ROM for some reason), Uninstalled that and I am now back to normal. Wierd.
Ill now have to see which of my heremes cabs do work and what cabs dont work ..
Im also looking forward to reading about the video card driver problem .. will have to google that thread.
Cheers all.
TEST (now with a Kaiser)
I did the switch from Hermes to Kaiser about 2 months ago, so far all of the cabs I had used on my Hermes are working on my Kaiser.

I think is better if u use cabs specifiec for kaizer, u can find then in signatures from Senior members or moderators,( like P1tater, Skatdawg, etc) or just ask that someone is going to point u inthe right direction.
Welcome, Test. I'm not yet switched, used both currently. Long story behind it, back then my jasjam was dropped and having the whitescreen and d-pad issues. Need months to repair it, and I need a PDA so I bought Kaiser.
Anyway, just to inform that most of my hermes cabs collection are working on kaiser. The problem is not with the device, but rather on the WM version. My experience, many apps don't run well on 6.1, like skype etc, some not even run at all. Some already have an update which works, and some doesn't.
Short, it's better to always looking for the latest stable build apps, if you can. The problem is, most of them are scattered around forums here. Not necessarily only in Kaiser forum. Good luck, mate.
p.s: yet i must admit, you're posting in a slightly incorrect forum...

The problem is Qualcomm. Crappy company from the ground up.
I think there is a phone coming out that has a Marvell Chip in it. 624mhz sound good to you with a Overclocking up to 800mhz.
I have been switching back and forth between the two phones, I got to say that the Hermes is a better overall phone, I am not that impressed with the tilt whats so ever....
Hm.You sure it's not HTC who did the crapping, ATW? Not that i don't agree with you, but just want your further enlightment, sir ;-)
For me, a layman, i have heard Qualcomm for quite some time, maybe even longer than HTC (at least for brand recognition). And i heard that they held many patents on cdma technology too. Not sounds too crappy for me, is it?
I remember having discussed in general forum,Menneissys told me that some of the codes are actually optimized in msm7200 than Hermes 'outdated' samsung processor. For example in bluetoth aadp streaming. Though i must admit that the ATI Imageon on Hermes make it faster for graphic apps.
Btw, is it energy efficient to have processor running over 600mhz?

Ohhh YES, definitely.
The best proof was when I had to send my Kaiser for repair, going back to the Hermes was awful. Such a slow brick, I simply hard reset it and left it with nothing installed at all and was using it as a phone only, couldn't bear fiddling with it after having had the Kaiser for a moment. Even that way it was 2-3x slower than the Kaiser.

I'm very happy that Qualcomm holds patents in CDMA, but what does that have to do with performance of a chip?
Let's just put it this way. Marvell used to be a Intel company. I much rather put my money / faith in a company that is the #1 producer of chips.
My Samsung 400mhz chip gave me better performance. Heck my TI OMAP 250mhz was just as good as this Qualcomm crap!

Btw, is it energy efficient to have processor running over 600mhz?

It is when the chip is smaller and requires less energy to run. I'm not sure what the nm is on the Marvell chip but I know that the talk time will be increased by over 2 hours which is a pretty significant improvement by up to 50%. How's that for energy efficient?

My kaiser is twice as fast as my hermes was... and far more stable. Shame your one didn't seem to come with GPS.....

o yea? My Hermes has not had even one reset running V3G's rom, yet I have to do several with the Kaiser although that maybe contributed to the roms not being debugged completly....
As to the GPS, its great for those who do not spent a lot of time using it as a cell phone, try using the GPS and talking on the phone via BT and driving for a living , maybe you will see just how great and useful the GPS is... not to mention the battery life....pssfft
I use my X51v as a GPS/w a BT unit where it sits in a holder right in line of my eye sight which is also my MP3 player hooked directly into my alpine .
Oh yea how about the how the buttons are located on the Hermes vs the kaiser ? look just how close they are on the Kaiser , they missed the boat on that...the layout is very poor...
Now do not get me wrong the Kaiser is a good unit, but it is lacking in many areas.

Yep. On the Hermes I could never use the center "enter" button without pressing 1 or 2 of the direction buttons at the same time and had to repeat my press everytime to get it right... with the Kaiser the buttons finally serve some purpose again.

Anything new worthy of replacing Kaiser ?

I've been google'n for 2 days and haven't been able to find anything worthy of an upgrade from a Kaiser ..
My mom needs a pda/phone and she wants my trusty Kaiser, but unless I find something worth having she's not getting it.
The Touch HD looks fantastic .. but .. isn't coming to the US [email protected]#[email protected]
Anybody know of something coming soon, available now I should be looking at ?
ATT Fuse doesn't look like any kind of an upgrade.
Thanks for your comments !
What I use the Kaiser for :
#1 Web Browsing
#2 VPN via PPTP to work network, and telnet to a as/400 machine from there
#3 Handful of WinMO apps that I use for various things (weather, poker blind timers, etc)
I occasionally talk on the phone too
hey man AT&T Fuze, it's called the Raphael on these forums, it's a sexy phone and has Opera 9.5 built in. and it can do everything the Tilt does minus some buttons and has a G-sensor

Next to the KAISER I had the MWg ZINC II for a while. It had an incredible performance, much better than on the TYTN. However, there are 2 things I couldn't stand on that thing: no hardware softkeys underneath the screen and a weird keyboard with strangely arranged characters. Other than that it was a great device. I still would have gotten used to its keyboard but I couldn't stand the fact that it did not have any HW softkeys underneath the screen.
However, even though this seems to be an interesting question, I do believe that this thread is misplaced since you ask for something "that is not the KAISER"!
It might have been better placed in the GENERAL BOARD?

I guess I could run over to ATT and look at one. It just doesn't look all that appealing at first glance. I see nothing on it other than a VGA screen vs the tilt, and I'm losing the "tilt" function that I've grown to enjoy.
I don't think I'll ever use a G-Sensor for anything. I have opera 9.5 on the Tilt.
Maybe I'll like it better in-person.

I'm looking for opinions from current kaiser owners since they'll know what I'm replacing. I want something better than a kaiser. Only a kaiser owner would know what that is.
I never use my softkeys so I don't think losing them would be an issue.
I guess the Fuze might be an option but the screen on that thing looks smaller than a fuze. I want a BIGGER screen
Well, I upgraded from an 8525 to the Fuze, and am throughly dissapointed.
The screen is awesome, amount of memory is awesome, and the keyboard is awesome.
Everything else sucks. The hardware buttons at the bottom are extremely spotty. If you don't press the perfect spot, with the perfect amount of pressure, the device presses the wrong button for you.

I flashed to the Elite ROM, and that made things a little better in general, but the usability of the device is getting me down.
So I'm off to research the Tilt/Kaiser.
I looked for what's the next upgrade after the Tilt/Kaiser but didn't find anything worthy. I think much of this stems from just how significant the upgrade the Tilt/Kaiser was from it's previous models, the 8525 and 8125.
I looked at the Fuze but while it does have some additional features and speed, it's not the leap ahead that the Tilt/Kaiser was. The Touch HD which you already found is the only thing I also found that I'd consider a worthy successor. I thought of buying one and having it imported but from everything I read the radio won't work here in the USA.
So for now and the foreseeable future, I'm still on my Tilt.

I think the radio works fine here, you just don't get 3G.
I'm not in a 3G area, so maybe I could overlook that. It seems like I tend to turn OFF 3G on those rare occasions when I am since it sucks the battery down so bad.
Touch HD looks very nice but maaaaaaaaan it's pricey !

Thanks for your comments .. this is exactly the kind of stuff I was looking for !
I think the hardware for a G1 looks good, too bad it's running android and not winmo.
It's got everything I want. Nice display size, hardware keyboard, 3G support
Nobody took a look at the Touch Pro(Raphael) or Sony X1 ?
Touch Pro is the Fuze, which was mentioned in the first post.
Racer i would look in the Raphael Forum and see if the problems/complaints are going to affect you terribly, from what i gather i'll be happy with the upgrade.
Best of luck!

Mentioned Touch Pro in first post (att fuze)
Not really much, if any, of an upgrade.
Sony X1 might be possible, but it's SOOOO darned expensive !
Another option would be an unlocked Palm Treo Pro.... runs win 6.1, decent phone, same specs as the tilt I believe

I'm returning mine as well. The D-pad is useless when surfing the net, the keyboard is really cramped compared to the Tilt, and button placement very odd.
The screen is amazing and the amount of RAM phenomenal, but it isn't quite as fast as I'd hope for and there just aren't enough programmable buttons to make it useful for me.
When my ETEN Glowfiish M700 died I spent weeks debating -- do I spend $600 for a new Tytn II or do I go for broke and get a Touch Pro for $900?
In the end, while the features of the Pro sounded very nice, I decided I just better save some money and get the kaiser.
Very impressed with the Kaiser so far. Video slowness not-withstanding it is still much more responsive than the Eten. And there is certainly tons of help, software recommendations and more available on these very forums
I recently came into a little extra money, so I could get the Pro now if I wanted to. But I'm going to keep the Kaiser and wait to see what the WM7 machines look like next year -- or should I say in two years
Perfectly happy with my Fuze. TF3D, VGA screen, abundant storage room, extremely fast and responsive, absolutely love the hardware KB (many more buttons without having to press the FN key) and more. Suffice it to say, I am extremely happy with my Fuze. Very much so.

Guess I better just run over to ATT and play around with one (fuze). Maybe I'll like it better in person than I do in "spec sheet"
What phone did you trade from, P1Tater ?
Thanks !

Tilt. Which I still have as a backup. Especially after my OIL fiasco.
EDIT:
Let me do say that the stock rom sucks. It is extremely slow and constantly lagging behind. I've flashed a new BlackStone radio and a custom rom and I absolutely love it. But let me emphasize, in the store, the Fuze is slow at best. It even has a ATT tab with all of their bloatware locked to that tab. However, NATF has already done a stock rom fixing most, if not all of the slow/laggy responsiveness. I have literally flashed every single rom already cooked for the Raphael/Fuze and found my favorite (today). This thing flies.
