This is probably a silly question, but where is the the microphone located on the Tilt? Is it the small round hole at the bottom, the two larger round holes on the bottom, or somewhere else?
Thanks,
Robert
Same hole as the reset button hole. I'm not sure if it uses the same Mic for speakerphone, though.
Where is the reset button hole? (I never have used it, so I don't know where it is. Sorry that I am such "newbie".)
On the bottom of the device, just to the right of the USB connector. Note that there are two holes; the big round hole is for the reset, the small oval hole is the mike.

You are not a newbie. You have chosen to be ignorant by not reading the manual that came with the device. If you do not have manual then you have still chosen to be ignorant by not visiting htc.com and downloading the free and very easily searched PDF file. If you did not assume you need to read the manual for such a sophisticated device then you shouldnt be asking such a simple and easily answered question.
I've read the manual 3 times so far.

Hi, is it possible to move the scrollbars to the left side either through a reg hack or tweak app or something? I usually use my left hand for one-handed usage.
TIA!
I guess there's no way to do this?
Sure would be nice. I am left handed and I feel like grade school again having to wrap my arm over the top to the right side.
also TTT.
I hear you all, every time I try to scroll down a page, half of my hand covers the screen, and with the newer contact manager letters being on the right, I can't even see which one I'm picking!
An option needs to be made available, I mean come on, we have overcame right-handedness!
Good question !
I have the same problem.
A nice solution would be nice!
Left handers rule
kokok
When I first set up my device it asked me if I wanted it to be right or left handed. I'm right, so I just picked it without thinking, but I would imagine that that option would do the trick.
With that said...I don't have any idea how I would get there again without a hard reset.

well, if I remember correctly that option actually turns the screen upside-down.
Plz Mr. Gates, I'm having post ergonomic stress from being left handed on your right handed product.
I take it it isn't something that can be changed in the registry?
Well this really sucks. I somehow dented the screen on my Kaiser. I dont know how, didnt drop it and never keep it in my pocket with something else. Anyways what are my options? It has slightly affected the touch of the screen around the dent which happens to be right on the SMS/MMS inbox button.

You're crossposting in too many forums... This section is upgrading only...
Why didn't you also ask in every other phoneforum here ? (oh no wait; you got a Kaiser )
And the answer to you question is too simple and obvious maybe? Have it send in for repairs, or try to get a replacement screen-unit yourself...
Since hardware can't be pushed through the WWW wires, there really isn't much use for asking here ...eh?
PS: and my condolances with the damage...
Just not being able to find the soft reset hole on my diamond. Can anyone guide me where it is? The 2 holes just near the mini usb jack doesn't seem to be the reset holes. I tried putting stylus in both of them but it doesn't reset.
what about reading a manual before asking such an obvious and easy to self find questions ? what are manuals for geese ... when you have closed back lid ... take out stylus and look for RED button near the entrance of stylus "hole" ... when you have opened back lid you can do the same... remember button is red !!! it`s even written next to it RESET
Put off the stylus and look inside, you will see a little red point, it's the soft reset.
You shouldnt be so hard on him.. most devices have some little hole and its not under the stylus, and the diamond doesnt have a printed manual.. you have to find the pdf manual on the CD.
Or maybe you're right and i'm just in a really good mood because my diamond is arriving today lol

I had this little "booklet" in my Box with some tipps and tricks to get you started... the "reset-button" is described pretty well. but that might not be included everywhere...

I've been using PDAs since long time, this soft reset button is the first I find it that much buried inside. I don't think anybody can find it without actually reading the manual. I guess now a days not many guys reading manuals before starting use any phone. Common sense prevails !
yess exactly common sense !! and you know what - I did figure it out 3 minutes after taking out of box and pulling out stylus to find out there is such a red button as well as I do not try to push stylus into hole (one of which you probably desrcibed - next to USB connector) that have VOID (warranty void) STICKER inside ... but I do not blame you ... just wish each user should read a little bit or look little bit more before asking foolish questions though I do now want looks like blaming you ...

yeah, pulling out the stylus is hard work!
From searching this forum, I can tell that others are having the same issue I am having. It started out with just a couple keys and now about 50% of my keys require me to push really hard for them to type. It is not a lag issue as covered by another thread. It just feels like the there may be dirt or something under the keys that makes it harder to type. This issue also is not ROM related as I have flashed my device with several ROMS with the same result.
Has anyone had any luck taking apart the keyboard and cleaning underneath the keys? If so -- maybe post some tips on what worked or not.
Thanks.
I'd vote for compressed air
I agree. You might be able to disassemble the phone and take the keyboard out and use compressed air. That would make certain that all the dirt is really out of the board...
A work mate of mine did this the other day. He took it fully apart and cleaned it out with contact cleaner. Ill ask him wether it worked or not but I think it did because I saw him using the phone today.
contact cleaner
I've never heard of contact cleaner. I'll have to try that. After looking at this video for disassembly, it doesn't look like you can get underneath the keys. How did your co-worker do it? Pop off the keys like a laptop keyboard?
I guess some older thread on how to replace Kaiser keyboard will be useful.
Found this
About screen, but went through keyboard also ..

Yes, I found that as well and it was not of much use. The problem is not removing the keyboard from the phone. The problem is getting underneath the keys. You can see the keyboard front/back removed from my attached image. According to this other thread #119, #126, #127 they say it is impossible to get at the keypad underneath.
I might just take a can of compressed air and spray on top of the keys as best I can to see if it helps.

Hmmm, seems that no other way but perhaps replace the keyboard ..
You cant get under the "actual" keyboard without breaking it off the housing. The keys can be pulled off from the top, but the actual buttons are sealed below.
For what little it cost, just replace the whole thing and problems are solved. Just did my son and daughters couple weeks ago.
Im foolish I forgot to ask him about it. Thinking back he may have damaged it lol. He does kind of charge into things and then realise he cant fix it.
Agree with carhigh, just replace the whole thing. Kaiser parts not that expensive nowadays. Just need time to open it up.
I have the same problem. Tried blowing compressed air from the top, but didn't have much success with the keys. I'll probably get a new keypad and replace it!
Sorry if this is a common question but where do people recommend getting kaiser parts? My N key and spacebar dont work without pressing it really hard and it's doing my head in!
Cheers.

Your problem will slowly get worse. More and more keys will require extra pressure. Not sure where you could buy a replacement now (the phone is kind of old). After attempting to clean the keyboard, I gave up. I am just using onscreen keyboard program that is included in TPC's ROM. I think it is called finger keyboard. After a little practice, I am actually faster typing on that than I was with sliding the keyboard.
Try this guys - worked for me in fixing my S key:

Ah. Did not realize the keyboard did not come out of the housing...
Had to get my screen replaced, it was cracked and went black, on my 1st generation Moto X.
Got it back, everything seems to be working except people can barely hear me when i try to call them. I tried leaving some test voicemails, on regular handset call, inaudible, on a speakerphone call, can barely hear the message, sounds very far away. Was something done wrong, did something break?? On a voice recording app, same effect.
I tried factory reset, a cache cleaning app, and tried looking at settings but dont see those mentioned as solutions (ie. voice privacy)
I came here, to the pros! please help
The little hole to the off centered left may have got some adhesive in it. Personally I would probably take a needle and try to scrape around the inside of the hole, making sure not to stab the mic.
Is it advisable to try and correct this by taking the unit/ Microphone module apart? I am pretty confident with mechanical/electronic things.

I mean if you can't get anything out with a needle or Sim tray remover you could take it apart, but remember that'll void the warranty. Also I am just guessing that there may be gunk over the mic and I could be totally wrong
well the screen has just been replaced so I am guessing the warranty could be void already. I that a simple procedure ? to get to that area? I tried already with a pin.

my dad is having the same issue.. he can't use voice typing or voice search anymore but if you hit or blow on the mic it does show that its hearing something, but only if your lips are basically touching it. anything further and it doesn't pick it up. Any ideas?
i noticed that On Smart Voice Recorder, if you go into settings and turn off auto gain control, you can recalibrate it, then it seems to notice your voice better(SVR does) and you can make a recording and can listen to it more clearly , although slightly grainy, but doesnt apply to the call app, so Im wondering if a global calibration can be done in settings or if another call app can be installed to allow for such settings.

Yeah true that did void the warranty. If you feel ok with taking phones apart feel free to try that
I have same issue. I bought used moto XT1060 2 month ago. I readed all existing forums, wrote to Motorola support, but did not found solution

I have been having the same issue recently. I have owned the phone for about a year and it has been fine up until a few months ago. The hole looks clogged and I've tried cleaning it with something thin enough to fit but there hasn't been a huge improvement. The sound isn't VERY low but it is much lower than it should be.
