I just received my copy of Windows 7 Home Premium (that I actually bought ) in the mail. On the top left corner it says "Upgrade designed for Windows Vista." I'm currently running a "cheap" version of XP. Will it let me upgrade normally?
Should. There was an old trick I used with a Vista upgrade only version. Not sure it'll work with Win7. I had Vista upgrade but it would only a non-upgrade, or full, verison of windows, which I had lost that disk. So, I did the following:
1) When installing you select Fresh or Clean install which reformats the drive. Also, ignore or skip the part where it wants the key and to register on-line. It gives you 30days to register.
2) Once that was complete, you reinstall, but this time you select Upgrade and input the key and register on-line.
So, basicly your upgrading windows but its a Win7 upgrade of Win7.
Hope that helps.
I am a Mac guy running XP with Bootcamp, so I can only tell you what I've read.
You can only " upgrade " from Vista. From XP, you have to do a " clean " install.
Hope that helps, before you wipe your machine accidently and lose everything.
Oh ok I get it now. Thanks for the help.
Windows 7 cannot be installed from XP using the upgrade option.
However, I'd recomend always doing a clean install anyway. Just means more time doing backups...
I have definitely got the blue angel. It is an O2 Xda 11s.
I have downloaded the how to flash your BA pdf by D-Two, and followed the instructions. It gets through to the stage where it's about load the software onto the phone, and then it quits saying that he phone is not the appropriate model.
device information
Operator version: PDAViet.net
ROM version: 6.01.10 VH
ROM date: 07/08/08
Radio version: 1.06.00
ExtROM: diamond (01)
RAM size: 128 MB
Flashing eyes: 32 MB
Storage size: 60.3 MB
At present I have windows mobile 6.1.
And suggestions please?
for upgrading, you use the MAupgradeut_noID.
that program avoids country id errors but it was originally made for the magician, hence MA, whereas the original BA upgrade utility is called BAupgradeut.
that is why you get that error. you have to put the device into bootloader mode before connecting it to the pc and before starting maupgradeut_noid, that way, you avoid the device id check.
make sure to follow the correct upgrade procedure, found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=630416
These are the instructions I used;
Temporarily remove your SD Card (it may work for you with the SD card still in your BA, but you may not be able to enter USB mode when cradled).
Put your device into Bootloader mode by pressing and holding the "Power" & "Record" buttons, and then press the Reset Button. Help me with this step
Connect the phone to the sync cable/cradle. sarcasm ahead Note: Did you see a sign out in front of this point that said: "You can flash using BlueTooth connection?" You know why you didn't see that sign? Because you can NOT FLASH using BlueTooth!
Now you can execute the installer file. (something like "MaUpgradeUt_noID")<--------------- Used This
Here is the screen just before boarding the software.
http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt356/Pterodactyl_2012/ba1.png
And here is the error message.
http://i627.photobucket.com/albums/tt356/Pterodactyl_2012/ba2.png
nope, you are not using the proper maupgradeut_noid, because that would show a magician on the left, whereas your pictures clearly show a BA, so download the Chef_Tony RUU from my signature and try that. it has the right maupgradeut_noid, that will avoid errors like that.

you are trying to flash using vista/7 have you read d-two's manual about that, with the customized driver and everything?
alternatively try a windows xp pc and follow the tutorial in my signature (the read first link)
and make sure, that you don't copy around the rom too much. download the rom and the ruu directly to the pc you flash from and use it from that folder directly. i use windows 7 on my main pc and can only flash from my netbook which runs windows xp, and due to too much copying, i had similar errors, because after copying the rom to a usb flash drive without problems, still the crc changed.
don't worry, your case is far from hopeless, but you seem to be unlucky and go through every problem there is

Okay yes, I should have said this. I am using windows seven on a Lenovo N500 4233 32g. The problem is, trying to get hold of an XP machine. Have you tried running this programme in compatibility mode? I will have a look at your instructions and see where I get to.
Thanks for your help,
Is d-two's manual, the HTC service manual in you sig?
no, it is to be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5456317&postcount=6
compatibility has nothing to do with it, neither has the xp mode or any virtual machine, because there must be suitable windows 7 drivers present. but i cannot help you with his tutorial, since i use windows xp for flashing and have never successfully used windows 7 for flashing.
the htc service manual in my sig is the official htc manual for hardware repairs, you can learn to disassemble the device there and have a list of spare parts

So I already have sdk intalled but I installed yours anyway and placed it on the c-drive. But for some reason you get an error when you go through sdk setup, I don't. I wants to intall the 15 drivers that I already have installed at the other sdk location. Any clue way I don't get the error you do?
Also when I'm in the cmd prompt I don't get the error message you do either. I just get "error: device not found"

haha. You sound like you are in the same boat as me... Everyone seems to say the $10 PNY card from Best Buy works so I went and got one, didn't work. Everyone trying the Droid's 16GB card gets it to work so I bit my lip and ask to borrow my ex's for a few minutes... no go.
Folks who are successfull using the PNY 2GB card from Best Buy, Which method are you using? (Volume Down + Power or Main Menu + Power)
Also, does it matter at what point you start running the adb shell loop and plug in the usb cable? I've tried all suggested methods and not a single thing is working.
Ive tried like 9 million ways before this. Has this failed for anyone? Im still doubtfull it will work. Im definately envious. Nice vid
i wont have access to a winxp computer till tonight when i go to work. I'll try it on a windows xp computer and let you know.
Rooted mine on 32 bit winxp
tried it, didnt work, tried about 5 reboots on 3 sd cards
im going to be the last person left on the planet to root

You are not alone. I have used multiple computers. From Win2003 with Quad Xeon and 16gb RAM, Athlon 64X2 WinXP 64bit with 4GB RAM to P4 w/ht 1.6 ghz with 2 GB ram on WinXP 32bit.... 16gb DROID microSD or PNY 2GB from Best Buy (both confirmed cards). Not a single thing has given me even the glimmer of hope.
I have tried this using your methods but still a no go.
What do we think. is this a phone problem, sdcard problem or computer problem. I have used 4 different sdcards and I am Windows 7 64bit. Haven't tried a Win98 box. Anyone think that will make a difference?
I used your info for the su install and wifi teathering, but the recovery method didn't work. I had to use the insert the card method. Woohoo I got wifi teathering workin'.
Anyone got root explorer working? It installs but then I get a force close when trying to open it.

The logcat should tell you why, but try this:
Code:
adb shell
$ su
# whoami
What do you get?

only on mine it did not stick had to use second method next try which wasn't difficult at all.. 1 minute tops and added the commands to allow the su to stick.
thank you for your video and time

Well, what happened:
i flashed hspl
i flashed Dynamics_GTX_2.4.5_WWE_Kovsky.nbh
i was happy
i realized that i cant sim-unlock here, so:
i flashed orig. spl aka RUU_Signed.nbh
and then i flashed original APP_SW_X1i_MOBCOM_AT_CDF1215-0312_KOV_R1AA019.nbh
then i sim unlocked the phone by code
then i went directly for a 28
it hang itself when i tried to do flash hspl at 17%
since then, i get everytime stuck at 0% and get the msg 262
even messing around with mtty and all different roms and programs and settings didnt lead any further.
task 28 looks like:
Cmd>task 28
Format start
TAG NOT FOUND !!! NOT CLEAR STORAGE !!!
Format end
Cmd>
task 29 looks like:
Cmd>task 29
Format BINFS start
CE start start block=321, total block=3775
Write 0xFF start page=0x5040, total page=0x3AFC0
Format BINFS end
Cmd>
task 8 seem to take forever, the screen shines in bright white.
with power and vol down i see:
3 colors
kovs110
spl-0.72.0000
microP1-707
microP2-707
serial (which, ofc. turns into usb when i am connecting it)
from there on everything went fine, but the flashing.
ofc i try to flash hspl, but every method hangs at 0% with error 262
mtty up and running (as far as i can see ) i definitely need help.
crawled the forums für 18 hours now, i cant find a solution to this on my own.
btw. cant load something on the card, otherwise i would have tried to load from the map...
again, i call for HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELPPPPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!
no one? :O
do i have produced a brick?
playing around to find out whats going on:
Cmd>info 7
HTC Integrated Re-Flash Utility, Common Base Version : 1.51d
Device Name: Kovsky, Bootloader Version : 0.72.0000
Cmd>info 8
--- 2K bytes sector version ---

DEVICE ID=0xBC
DEVICE MAKER ID=0x2C
PAGE SIZE=0x800
TOTAL PAGE SIZE=0x840
BLOCK COUNT=0x1000
BLOCK PAGE=0x40
Checking block information
BLOCK 0 (0x0) is reversed block
.
.
.
BLOCK 32 (0x20) is reversed block /////// that seems to be quite long, in the documentation it goes just till 12 and then it shows partitions, which are not showed at my device :/
OS NOT FOUND !!!
Cmd>checkimage
SPL CRC checksum = 0xEC2F928F
CE is None.
ExtROM is None.
Cmd>task 32
gives no output.
is it possible to flash per mtty? (LRS?)
btw it boots into white screen, not three color bootloader screen
with power vol down into bootloader without any problems
but from there on it always stucks at 0%
//edit
set up an old laptop with winXP and tried it there - you never know? - didn't work...
//edit #5
got a micro sd card
formated it with fat32, put the RUU_Signed.nbh on it,
renamed it to KOVSIMG.nbh, put it in the phone and started it with vol down and powerbutton to the bootloader.
hangs at loading...
come on guys, some one have to have something to say!
To be honest it does not sound promising
try this with mtty
Cmd>set 16 0
Cmd>task 14 0
Cmd>reboot
then try and flash a stock rom
when copied on the sd card, it hangs at loading
when flashed over usb, it hangs at 0% at the progressbar
if you try another hspl does it just sit at 0% ?
i just tried this one out: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=431218
are there other versions of hardspl?
sorry i meant doing another hardspl with the version your using
yep... just sitting at loading or 0% depends on the way i try to flash
i think, somehow the partitions are ****ed up,
is there some one who knows the mtty and bootloader stuff very well?
have you thought of trying one of the Android NAND roms? If you can just get it to install, you could then go back to windows mobile
do i not need hard spl for android?
does android not get flashed like a windows rom?
i ll read into that, thx for the tipp
It's similar to windows roms yes, but there is a version (ICS 4.0.4alpha), that changes the internal partitions so as a long shot you could try this and then try flashing back to a windows rom.
The thread in question is
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1614236
ROMUpdateUtility shows error 208 alltime
is it because im using win 7
im guessing I need a y cable and sd card to store the rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/RUU_Errors
are you running the program as administrator? because you need to do that first, also no other program must be touching the RUU file...
PM me if you need more help.
