Difference Between Treo 750v and Treo 750 - Palm Treo 750 ROM Development

Hi, I'm new on this forum and i'd like to know what are the difference between Treo 750v and Treo 750.
Also if i unlock a 750v is it possible to install a generic 750 ROM on it ?
Thanks for answer.

im also new here. and also curious about what the difference between them. mine is 750v. perhaps v is for vodafone?

You are correct the v stands for Vodafone.
There is however another difference. The v has a visible LED while the one without the v only shows the LED when it is blinking.
Last thing is of course the branding of Vodafone versus a clean device for people who are owning the v-less version
So in the end both devices are the same.

I have two "v" Treos, one has hidden led (voda uk), one has visible (voda ireland).

The 750 (hidden LED) has also a darker color on the display frame than the 750v
with visible LED.

But that might be because of the paint the LED has to penetrate I guess..

Not led is darker, but paint all round screen. In "hidden" vesion it's more silver, in "visible" - lightgray.

BA WM5 Boot Logo (Stripes) changeable ?

I upgraded to WM5, but now I just have the stripes as my boot logo.
Is it possible to change these to something else ?
Tried various bootlogo changers, none seem to work.
Have you tried searching the forum? I think there has to be 10 threads that says that's impossible so far...
yes, I did.
I found this, which seems to indicate it might be possible:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=29897&highlight=wm5+boot+logo
I found this which says it is a program to do it on a himalaya:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12898&start=100
(see end)
So that is why I posted. I am a net veteran and know to look before I ask thankyou very much.
No, they don't indicate any such thing. As of yet there's nothing that even whispers about the possibility of changing the boot image on this trial run of a WM5 version. The bootloader actually isn't even exclusive for the unit, if I remember correctly it has references to at least 3-4 other models. There are a few ideas, but nothing that has come to anything more.

This is in reference to the file "BstardWM5Splash.cab" that he posted on the same thread - the thread is entitled "CHANGING MDA III BOOT IMAGES TO YOUR LIKING"
Now unfortunately this guy then goes on to say that this file is for a Himalaya, but the post two after that by Mardanpet seems to be saying it works on his XDA IIs. I cannot tell who he is saying it worked to though.
So Bstard is saying for SURE he can do it on WM5 on a Himalaya.
And Mardanpet APPEARS to be saying it can be done on a BA.

Well it works for BlueAngels, but under wm2003,
So still nothing that works with BA under WM5. Really, isn't there more important stuff to get in? A screen you see maybe once or twice a week (at least that's about how often I see it with WM5 - I saw it a lot more with WM2003). Who cares?
I see it daily. I have to change SIMs
Besides, with my luck, something will happen to my phone again and I will have to send it off to O2 for repair.
Last time I did that, I had a cooked imate rom but had uploaded an O2 startup screen, so they didn't spot that it was a different OS and they repaired it under warranty (despite the fact that I had voided it by replacing the OS)
If they see the stripes I am screwed. They will flag an issue on that for sure !

Yey, wm2005 is stable. but due all that testing it becomes quite irritatable that striped screen.
BUT, i noticed, that when you insert owner info info in the device, and at the options when turned on are on.
the windows mobile screen pops up after the rom version,
At least a bit better then 20sec those lines on my screen.
 i wished we could change that second screen
I may be inclined to go with that if it didn't spam me with my details every time I turned the screen on.
At boot is good enough for owner info - it is on the today screen anyway.
well spotted though pimbo

I have the same thing and tried the different methods (including playing a video that is supposed to help) but nothing worked. Mine is in the corner so I have learned to live with it but it sounds like you might need to get the unit swapped out. Will be interested to hear if HTC obliges.

yeah, my single pixel shows light blue down on the lefthand corner as well. it doesn't bother me in the least.
I got my screen repaired UNDER WARRANTY! You should at least try it.
I heard awful stories how HTC refused to swap devices/screens under warranty, because of dead/stuck pixels, if there isn't like 4-6 there.
But still, at least I got my Kaiser repaired under warranty, just by calling HTC official support. Got a statement there that my provider should fix it, then took down the reference number from HTC case and called my provider, and they agreed to swap it! (gave the reference number, and told that the screen is supposed to be swapped!) I am so happy right now! *Knocking the wood*. Hope I'll really get it back after 2 weeks with no stuck pixels on it anymore.
Of course I needed to tell them at HTC that I think itäs totally unacceptable to have 1 stuck pixel on the screen. As in comparison to 19 inches screen that equals to 15 stuck pixels! Don't know if that affected the decision, or maybe the customer support technician was one of the nice kind.
I had a blue dot on left corner also, i could see only on black screen ! so ... Accidentally i found a solucion... note: in my case works ! with my finger, i just press a little bit hard on the right down corner, and the blue dot Disappeared... but when i press hard on the corner with blue dot, it came back... so, I presume that is a bad connect in same way... i order a new screen anyway, but still use the old one Without blue dot .
p.s sorry my
i have a white dot in my splash screen
and i adore it!!!!

Help needed........plzzzzzz

Hey Guys.....i was referred to this website by the HTC customer care......
I am in serious trouble.....
I bought this new tilt which had the At&t rom and worked really great.....Dont know what got into me.....I read a lot about custom roms and I installed Duttys official WM 6.1 after installing the Flash Hard SPL......It was perfect except the phone call function wasnt working any more.....I mean when I called my home number....i got the ring, but when the phone is picked up i couldnt hear anything nor did anybody on the other side.....I tried this many times on different numbers....
Realizing the mistake I downloaded the latest tilt rom from the HTC website and installed it......The phone restarted fine....screen alignment.....showed the today screen and then it goes through all the AT&T customization......The phone restarts after the customization.....shows the AT&T initial screen and then the 3G animation......after that it goes to a very dim dark blue blank screen.......the phone is on...the key lights turns on when clicked.....but the today screen doesnt boot up......This is were I am rite now.....stuck with this blank dark blue screen......The phone goes to standby more after about 1 min I guess.....and when the phone is waken up from the standby mode I see a screen with a mixed color screen.....I am not talking about the red blue green boot loader screen....this is colors all over the screen.....each pixel is different color.
I dont know what to do.....
Please if anyone can give me some advice and help me out......
Thank you so much in advance.....
did u hard reset after flashing?

ummm what happens when you do a hard reset?
To perform a hard reset place two fingers, one of the left softkey and one on the right, and insert the stylus into the reset hole to the right of the usb port.
let the phone reboot and tell me what happens.

your issue sounds like a radio problem.......

shouldn't be a radio issue if he downloaded the latest tilt rom from htc website because a radio is attached with that rom.
Sorry....forgot to mention that.....I did do hard reset by holding down the soft keys and by inserting the stylus......It goes through the entire cycle of reloading....today screen....customization and finally I end up with the blank screen I talked about before which comes right after the windows screen at the startup.....

after you inserted the stylus while holding down the two softkeys "calender" "contacts", did the device inform you to hit the "send" key on two occasions?
yea, i noticed that......but what he described is what happens when you have an incompatible radio.....
the only thing i can think of is......the radio from hell.....

G 25.83.40.02H
D 1.62.00.00
This is what I see at the startup....at the bottom of the screen with a At&t background.....

Here read this thread. Hopefully you can figure it out. Like XtreMe_G stated you got the radio from hell. You must of installed it before dutty's rom.

hell ya you do. I should go rick roll myself now.
Yes I did press the send key twice....Once to confirm the reset and second one to restart the device.....I just now did it once again to be sure and still in the same page.
Ends up with a blank screen....goes to stand by....when waken up gives me a mixed color screen.....looks like somebody used different color spray paint on my lcd screen....

well you installed the radio from hell before you installed dutty's rom thats why you couldn't hear anything.
Now you need to remove it or find a compatible rom.
So read this thread

good luck.
THanku.....THanku.....THanku.....THanku.....
Ohhhh.....thank you all.....for your time effort and all the advice and information.....
The last thing the HTC customer care representative told me was that ill have to send in the device to fix it up.....
I followed exactly like it said in the link and Hurray.......my phone is alive......
Thanku all once again.....
The best forum ever....
Guys did i have that phone call problem because of the hard SPL or Duttys Official WM6.1. If it was because i installed the hardspl first, can I go back to Duttys Official WM6.1 without any future problems by just flashing the ROM with duttys WM straight skipping the hardspl step..
I really liked that version....but wud like to make phone calls obviously....I know the mistake is from my part....screwed up somewere....cause I see so many ppl using custom roms without any problems...
Please tell me what could be the best solution....
Thanks a lot...

Stuck Pixels everywhere - But only on a special grey tone :(

Hey guys, have a look at these stuck pixels. The occur only on a special grey tone but they happen... Especially on the flashlight app or the topbar of the (old) playstore... I made some pictures of it.
The funny or strange about them are that they dont appear on various pixel tester apps. That means: On a clear Black, White, Red, Green, Blue, Yellow, Cyan OR Magenta colored screen they are not visible. Just only on some special grey mixture which i couldnt clearly reproduce because the screenshots the htc make are very low quality.
If you look closely, especially the foto of the playstore. the stuck pixels are only in special rows
Here you go:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/2grh2gjwvud0sli/P_0O7jhs1J
what do you think about that? fixable or not?
The SN begins with HT343
I would do a factory reset and if that does not help ask for an exchange.
Factory Rest didnt help and i made one earlier this morning. I'll change it. I dont know what it is and it seems that this kinda problem never occured anywhere so the safest way is to send it back and get a new one
if it was a computer i would say the problem is at the hardware on graphics chipset. in this case looks like hardware fault too but hope you can handle it with software.

I send it back one hour ago. If it makes things like that after a day, what will it do after a year?
