Hi guys!
I have a couple of questions.
Last week I performed WM2003SE to WM2005 upgrade on my BA. It comes from German T-Mob. I bought it second hand, so I guess that the ROM I found on it was loaded some way along the road (it was WWE, and my device has a German QWERTZ keyboard layout, meaning it originally had to come with some non-WWE ROM..right?)
When I bought it, it had O2 ìsoftwareî (thatís called extended ROM, right?) v1.31, Radio v1.06 and Protocol 1337.45.
I had some problems installing newest WM2003SE as I was getting error about wrong CID when running .exe update file, so I went for Helmiís 2005 pack. Later I realized I should just rename .exe to .zip and extract needed files from WM2003 .exe updates. I used BaUpgradeUt (of course failed due to the wrong CID) and MaUpgradeUt_noID.
Firstly I upgraded to Helmiís WM2005 (v5.04.09 WWE), but after finished upgrade I started getting some errors for some missing or corrupt executable files after device starts up (see the screenshots), which disappeared when I reinstalled 2005 (reinstalling it for the second time I got those 3 check boxes on a boot loader screen, which I didnít see when doing the installation for the first time..that could be the source of my problems after the first installation). Someway along those actions I also cleared my storage (with a tool provided in Helmiís ROM, that has a red recycle icon). After deleting storage items, I found many apps found on original Helmiís ROM missing (good..I didnít need those
Then I decided to update my radio from 1.05 to 1.16 and it went ok, after I managed to connect the device in boot loader mode to USB cradle.
- Now, I find it rather strange to have that color-striped boot loader screen still appearing when I boot my device. Shouldnít it be replaced with some WM default or ROM assigned bitmap?
- I used GetDeviceData to determine the exact data of my BA and prior to upgrade it gave me something like this:
PH20B WWE some_letter T-MOB102 followed by ROM and Radio version.
After the ROM update (2003SE to 2005) I got this as a result:
PH20B WWE A T%CID? 5.04.09. 1.06.00 % 4
Then I upgraded Radio...
PH20B WWE A T%CID? 5.04.09. 1.15.00 % 4
As you can see, T-MOB102 part disappeared and itís replaced with an unknown CID part. I guess thatís why I still see the boot loader colorful stripes when booting/soft resetting my device. Is it a big problem, as the device works fine? Is it a normal occurrence after using MaUpgradeUt_noID?
- That ìProtocolî version/number (1337.45 in my case)..can that be updated and what is it?
- After the upgrade I noticed that my phone is not recognized as a PPC any more, but as a computer instead. The problem is that now it offers less services over bluetooth (only Active Sync on Mac and Network Access Point on Windows). On Windows computer, I cannot send any files through btooth OBEX and itís very annoying. Is that a problem with bluetooth and WM2005 on these devices one could read about on forums? Any way to fix it? I must say that I havenít installed the newest bluetooth stack (how can I check what stack version do I have now?).
I hope you're still awake after reading this
Answer is simple http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel
And you will receive the same answer whenever you ask beginner question
I appreciate your advice, however, you must know that although some of my questions were beginner questions not all of them were such and those still require direct answers rather than some generic answer you provided.
I read the 80% of the BA Wiki before posting here and I haven't found the answers I need.
For instance, I still don't know why those bootloader stripes are still present..or what happened to my CID part in device data. If it's messed up, how come it's working? If it's ok, why it's not mentioned on the Wiki?
You may correct me if I'm wrong, but after reading all of that, I still don't know wha't really included in the backup or why my SMS messages are still there after I performed a hard reset, but my e-mail settings are deleted...
Saying "Eat if you're hungry will not solve the problem of a hungry one".
In general, that approach of forwarding noobs or people with such questions to a first page of an ecyclopediae is not a solution.
You're right wiki isn't enough, there is a search! And let me told you a little secret - there is a google, (you know google dont you?)
After reading wiki you MUST realize that:
Bootloader - no way of removing stripes!
CID part - You didn't follow the step-by-step proccess in wiki. And because you are beginner you should follow the Helmi install procedure (or read through WM5-BA page) And what is more important you dont even know anything about CID (use google - it is in wiki but not in BA section)
+
Because its not important its not mentioned in BA wiki.
Read something about WM5 how it works and the differences between 2003SE. (Like a persistent storage) <- answer to your SMS and hardreset question. And use google to find more information rather than asking more question
Hello people, I have a question for you. I recently did the Upgrade of my Qtek 9090 to WM 5 (device data now is PH20B WWE 5.03.02 1.12.00). It seems to be working fine (have yet to test wireless connection), but I discovered that I can't get the camera on the phone to work. For some reason, it simply does not react to camera button. It also does not react even when I try with the manual startup of pictures & videos application. Does anyone has any idea how to get out from this one? If this is any help, the original phone data were PH20B 0 B WWE E DANGA102 1.40.00 0 0 1.40.147 1.12.00 12.00.
Thanks a lot
Simple but crucial question: Which WM5 rom you flashed? Have you read specific information about this rom? maybe this one requires some post-instalation operations?
Basically, I found this ROM on www.buzzdev.net, and it only stated BA WM2005 5.03.02WWE - standard upgrade. It is basically the only one which worked for me, since every other dumped me (the model of the phone matched the ROM). However, there were no additional explanations for this, so I am stuck. Is there any registry tweak, or aditional piece of software which could make it work, or I will have to go looking further for better ROM?
As long as we don't know what is the problem with the ROM, we cannot help you - some ROMs just had camera support cut out, others needed installing additional software, some had errors.
About model/device check: please take any recent WM5 rom (baniaczek's for starters) and just read carefully flash instructions from Wiki - there is no problem with device check, if you understand what you do and how you should do it.
Thanks Jakub for good advice, I've been doing some reading and I tried baniaczek's latest issue from the web. However, I've got stuck. Namely, MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe does not work in my case. It simply tells that there has been communication error with the device, or if it starts it tells that this ROM upgrade utility was not designed for this device. I tried the other way with BaUpgrade.exe, with usage of EditFix.bat and xda3nbftool.exe, but it seems that I'm doing something wrong - each time I get the message that the specific ROM was not written for me and that I should check my vendor. Is there any way to get out of this, since now it seems that I can't do no upgrade or downgrade at all?
Thanks a lot in advance, I know this is mostly due to my mistakes and usage of unchecked ROMs.
Thank to everyone who was trying to help me. I did some experimenting in order to solve the upgrade issue, and I solved the problem. This is how I did it: Namely, I downloaded KitchenAKU3.5v2-xplode, which also contains useful readme. Basically if you want to have MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe to work for you at all, you have to put the device in Bootloader mode (press power + record simultaneously). After that, the upgrade went smoothly, after I designed my own rom, which was very easy with xplode's tutorial.
One more thing I did was that after the upgrade, I did a soft reset and "cleanup" of the device. after the soft reset I changed following options on the boot screen using camera and record buttons:
“Enable KITL” set to NO
“Clean Registry Hive” set to YES
“Format Storage” set to YES. (again on xplode's instructions)
After that, I confirmed settings with pressing of the mail button. One minute later, I had fully operational and very fast QTEK 9090 running WM5.
I hope that some things I did will be useful to other people trying to fix their blue angels. And of course, thanks to Xplode for making an excellent user-friendly upgrade.
I don't seem to be able to hard reset my SPV M2000!!!
I press:
-Power+Reset
-Camera and Record to get the Boot Options
-Select NO, Yes, Yes
All of this works fine, but I can't go on from there - no button press will get it to finish the hard reset (and, YES! I DID try the 'Mail' button, nothing happens!)
Any I deas?
I've upgraded to WM6 (after first downgrading to WM2003 from WM5 - same problem occured when I tried this, too!) an I have a load of the programs I installed in WM5 trying to load at startup! I also want to get rid of the Extended ROM.
Any help you guys could give? I'd be eternally grateful!

Workaround
Sort of found a workaround(ish):
As I hadn't already changed the EXTROM, then all I had to do was to install the latest official ROM from the Orange UK site. That wiped the old crap I had on my BA, then resized the EXTROM and installed WM6.
Would still love to know if anyone knows/finds a proper fix! Just in case I want to change the ROM at a later date.

Full Solution
Not tried this - don't need to at the moment -

But it looks like the solution to the problem - found it by ... reading the Wiki !DOH!

Hi,
I am new to attempting ROM upgrades!
I bought my BA on ebay it runs on wm2003se but have never used it as a phone because it needed unlocking so i thought i would try to upgrade then unlock.
After many failed rom upgrade attempts one finally started to install, it got to 100% then i was promped to soft reset my XDAiis which i presume is the normal proceedure?
So i did this, but now it is stuck on the blue, green, red and white screen displaying,
No GSM
HTC BlueAngel D 6. 50.28.WWE
I have tried hard reset
I have tried to install the O2 rom that came with it but it says its the incorrect country version!
Any ideas or is it Dead???
HELP
first: try hard resetting!
the procedure changed in comparison to wm2003se, so you have to press reset+power, and then immediately press camera+record. a menu shows up, showing
Enable KITL YES
clear reg. hive NO
format storage NO
using the camera and record buttons, change these entries to
Enable KITL NO
clear reg. hive YES
format storage YES
and press the mail button to confirm, after some time you will see the device boot for the first time.
probably that solves your first problem, but since you seem pretty unexperienced (no offense), it probably unveils more problems. you should also make sure to read this carefully, maybe follow the upgrade wizard again, to make sure you formatted your old extrom and resized it, have a working radio rom, and to make sure you know what you are doing and how to go on improving you BA experience:

Hi,
Thanks for your reply i have tried hard reseting and still have the same problem, any other suggestions???
run through the wizard in the link above, you will need to downgrade to wm2003se again, resize the storage space, upgrade to wm6.5 doing everything exactly as written in the wiki and you will have no problems, here there is the step you are currently facing:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BA_Downgrade_WM5
the downgrade from wm5 or above down to wm2003
hello !
my screen stay white after the
"Enable KITL NO
clear reg. hive YES
format storage YES"
part. How can I do ? thanks
and it's a xv6600
i am not an expert when it comes to the different names of the device, but a quick google search told me, your device is not a blueangel, but a cdma device, namely a HARRIER. the harrier does not support wm5 and up, so you should flash your original shipped rom back, to get it back to work.
if you do not have your shipped rom present (on cd) you can go to your carrier's website and try and download it there. if, however, it is not listed there anymore, you can go download it here:
http://harrier.atspace.com/
all credit for the shipped rom archive goes to xplode.

Hi
I am having some problems when trying to upgrade my Orange SPV M700 to Hard SPL. I have followed the instructions given in "TrinityGuides.info" but I am not convinced the Hard SPL has actually worked okay. This is what happens:
1) I follow the initial instructions (run ROMUpdateUtility.exe) and click on the various screens ("I understand" "I completed") etc
2) I get to the point where the screen says "You are now ready to update your ROM image. This operation takes approximately 10 minutes"
3) I then click on "Next", the progress bar screen appears and I get the message on my SPV about running programs - I select 'yes' on the SPV.
4) Immediately I hear the Windows XP 'dum-dum' noise letting me know that a USB device has been disconnected. Also my ActiveSync is gone. I have not done anything to cause this though - the connection just goes down.
5) I then get a message telling me that the device is not connected and I have to exit the Hard SPL routine.
6) After reading the FAQs on TrinityGuides.info I re-run the "ROMUpdateUtility.exe" and get to the progress bar screen again. This time I see the grey screen on the SPV, with progress bar rapidly completing on both the SPV and my Desktop screen progress bar.
7) After literally a few seconds I get a screen telling me "Congratulations! Your ROM update is now complete etc"
Even though I see the congratulations message I am not convinced it has successfully installed Hard SPL.
Firstly, whereas the messages suggest it can take up to ten minutes to do the Hard SPL mine only takes a few seconds. Secondly, when I follow the TrinityGuides.info instructions on how to check the Hard SPL (by pressing power, camera and soft reset) I see this:
On my tri-colour screen this is displayed:
IPL-0.50
SPL 1.07.0000
The "TrinityGuides.info" instructions say that I should see this:
TRIN100
IPL-0.50 (your device may show IPL-1.00)
TRIN100 MFG
SPL-1.20.Olipro
I have tried both the "Hard SPL 1.20.Olipro" and "Des' Crash-Proof SPL" but nothing makes any difference to the display I see.
Can anyone help me? I am concerned that if I don't have the Hard SPL correctly installed I am going to risk bricking my SPV if I try upgrading the ROM, unlocking the SIM etc (which is what I want to do). Is there any other way I can tell whether Hard SPL is installed correctly?
Thanks in anticipation!
Spivvy
If i remember correctly hard SPL is a quick process, it's the ROM flashing that takes ten minutes or so. As to why it's not working i can't offer any help, sorry.
Hi DeeDee
Thanks for taking the time to reply. If, as you say, the Hard SPL does happen very quickly (in my case it seems a second or so) then that's good to hear as I was sure something had gone wrong.
Does anyone know if what I see on my tri-colour screen is correct? (i.e. IPL-0.50, SPL 1.07.0000) as before I proceed with any more drastic updates I'd like to make sure my SPV is protected against bricking.
Thanks again

UPDATE.....
I spotted this person's solution to what seemed to be a similar problem to mine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=382246&highlight=ActiveSync+disconnects
I decided to try his fix. I used Olipro 1.20 Hard SPL.
The Hard SPL procedure did continue in a more convincing manner than my previous attempts, and the progress bar took a bit longer to complete, and I also received a message telling me that the operation was successful. I then did a soft reset and felt that maybe this time it had worked.
In a rare moment of feverish optimism I pressed the buttons to check the SPL version now on my Orange SPV (power, camera and soft reset). However, it is still telling me this:
IPL-0.50
SPL 1.07.0000
i.e. nothing seems to have changed. No sign of Olipro's SPL again.
In a word, I am flummoxed.
In two words, I am very flummoxed.
So, I am still putting out an appeal to you clever bods as to how I establish if I have a safe Hard SPL on my Orange SPV, or is it still looking a bit iffy (a technical term for "not very good")
Thanks
Spivvy
i am seeing the latter version with OliPro SPL, OK it's v1.2 but it's still different from yours.
Are you trying this on Vista or XP, personally i have always used XP for flashing. Whether that's going to make any difference i don't know.
I have a question along similar lines, although not identical. I'm completely unable to get from the triband screen to the bootloader screen. I'm trying to flash from my mini-SD card, but one it gets into that SSPL triband screen, it doesn't do a thing. I'm running vista on my PC, and can't seem to get any useful action trying to flash from there. Getting a little frustrated, cause I haven't even been able to SIM unlock my phone so far... Considering going the IMEI route, although that won't do anything for bootloader and upgrapding ROM later on... Any advice, or should I just use IMEI and go the easy way?
Dan
Hi DeeDee
I am using Windows XP, which I think is the preferred OS for this type of operation. Very puzzling.
Thanks
Spivvy
Hmmmm.....
It's looking like I am not going to resolve this problem as no one has posted an actual solution. I am not sure what to do now - my gut feeling is that my SPV M700 has not been Hard SPLed (based on what it displays as described earlier).
All I know is that I have followed the TrinityGuides instructions (and other postings with information about this type of thing) accurately. I have done it several times (using both Olipro 1.2 and Des Crash Proof) - but, for some inexplicable reason, my SPV M700 would appear to refuse to accept the Hard SPL.
As no one has said otherwise I have to assume that the tri-colour screen information I see in bootloader mode does mean that I have not successfully SPLed?
I can't understand why some (in fact most) people seem to get the Hard SPL flashing performed okay and yet mine refuses. I know from searching the postings that there are a few unlucky souls like me who have not been able to do it successfully.
If anyone does have any suggestions I really would be grateful to hear them, but for now it looks like I have drawn a blank. Pity.
I have run out of ideas - could it be some other program I have installed is interferring with the process? Is it my version of ActiveSync (4.5.0)? Is it some setting I have got on the SPV M700 that is preventing the Hard SPL? There surely has to be a reason why the Hard SPL is not working?
Still hanging on, hoping that some shaft of light might shine on my SPV M700 one day...
Ho hum...

Hey u are not alone, my Trinity ( Dopod D810 variant ) just simply refuses to flash to any hard spl as well, same problem as yours, i am using windows xp to flash so i doubt its the driver problem.
I found a solution to this problem though, i use SSPL to flash cooked rom to my device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
Just paste the .exe onto your trinity and open it using file explorer, it should enter bootloader with a "by des" behind the bootloader number, it should be safe to flash then.
I tested flashing WM 6.5 by savesaint, Finix's 6.1 with no problem
ADDons: Anyway the reason i suspect is because my one has been flashed with HTC P3600 rom, yes, by HTC without dopod branding, hence the problem
Hi there - thanks for that tip. I will try that link you suggested, and have a go with the file. I'll get back to let you know how it all went.
Many thanks for taking the time to post your suggestion.
Cheers

Hi
I thought I would report back as to the progress (or lack of it) regarding the failure to Hard SPL my Orange SPV-M700. There's not much to report I'm afraid, which may be largely to do with my lack of confidence etc.
I checked out the link suggested above by "/b/-TarD" (using SSPL to flash cooked rom to device - as described at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293632
However, when I read the various posts and experiences I still felt that this might not be the solution I was looking for. I am not very technical with all this ROM flashing but the original Hard SPL method seemed to me to give me some insurance against bricking my SPV-M700. This SSPL does not seem to leave you with a Hard SPLed device (I am not exactly sure what it does to be honest), and in fact some people seem to have had quite difficult problems after using it.
Call me a cowardly old geezer but I have backed away from trying the suggested solution at the moment (but still very grateful to user "/b/-TarD" for his suggestion).
My aim was to:
1) Get the basic HARD SPL on my SPV-M700 - Olipro or Des, but having followed all the Trinity guides faithfully, it would appear that my device doesn't wanna play ball with me — very frustrating.
2) Re-instate/upgrade the GPS radio thingy (which I believe you lose after you Hard SPL)
3) Unlock my Orange SPV-M700 so that I can use any SIM card in it
4) Then, finally, consider upgrading the ROM to one of the newer WM6 versions, or a better WM5 version.
But, at the moment, it would seem that it's not to be.
Ho hum....
