Hi all,
First let me credit CHOPIN (formerly PARADIS_PAL) for this solution. I have only changed the ROM offset in order to have it to work with our Herald device.
Now you can easily change the pagepool size in just a few seconds!
Do not forget to soft-reset your device as soon as the ROM value has been changed.
Ciao!
24/AUG: No need to mention that I have used and tested this BEFORE posting this thread here.
According to S4VVA suggestions (thanks pal!), it seems that 6MB pool size is a quite good compromise, as opposed to 4MB that actually slows the device down, and 12MB which in turn wastes so much precious memory.
Given this method actually takes just a couple of seconds, I would recommend a page pool size change on a per need basis:
leave it at its original value (it won't hurt your device, after all!) and reduce its size if you ever needed more space.
The link below will lead you to the original paradis_pal's thread.

Ciao again!
So first, I use backup.bat? And then whatever bat I want for the PP I want?
Edit: Guess I answered my own question. I did just what I said above, and the whole thing took 2 seconds + reboot time. Sweet. No more of Paul's way for me. Was easy as well, but took too long (I'm impatient. lol)
is it ok for wm6?
Looks promising, I had to install copy Aserg Policies.cab first, wich was not mentioned by the way.. Rebooting now
well seems to work, thank you, kudo's!
link for Aserg Policies.cab ?
i thought you used enablerapi.cab
and
backup.bat is not necessary, it is nice to have but you dont HAVE to backup.

I did not have to install enablerapi.cab or Aserg Policies.cab and it worked on my T-Mobile Wing. Running the 6MB now and seems okay.
When you run it, it automatically copies the .dll in the folder to the phone. This should eliminate the need to run any of the pre-cabs.
I will have to wait and see what other users say but it sounds great! Can we change it to a 4 mb page?

I have yet to use this PP Changer but big up to Paradis for creating this. There are many people like bankrupt who are afraid to try changing the page pool the first time. I was like that when I first read Paul's process, but after a few flashes I dont even need the instructions anymore. If you don't try you'll never suceed.
Sorry bankrupt don't mean to disrespect you by using your name in my example. I haven't used this changer yet but check out this post form the first page...seems to have the directions in it....a quick PM to Mi|enko should answer any other questions you have left.

Why would you need a tutorial??
Just download and extract the files, connect your Herald to pc with ActiveSync.
Then go to the extracted folder and run the .bat file of your preferred PP-size.
I also will be happy if we got one because I startet like you wrote before but nothing happen.
Do I need a sync profile or sync as a guest?
Do I need to go into the boot loader modus?
Should I do it without a hub?
Is a backup needed before?
Should I go step by step down with the PP Size?
...
Thanks in advance for your help
Tommy
Allright,:
1. Connect your Herald with Running OS, so with ActiveSync Connection (no special mode, just connected)
2. Install ASerg Policies.cab (not always necessary)
3. Unzip the File you downloaded from first post
4. Run backup.bat
5. Run the batch of the desireable PagePool size.
If failed PP Change, run restore.bat.. (VERY unlikely)
Easy!
Addendum
6. Soft reset your device
OK, I think thats the problem,
Can somebody post the ASERGPolicy Cab, I dont want to download the whole ROM once again.
Thanks ind advance
Tommy

Purpose
Sliding sounds
Games
and other applications..
Thanks
LOL
Are you really asking how to install a CAB file????? No wonder no one wants to help you..............
First transfer the CAB file to your phone/storage card(remember where you put the file, you will need to know to locate it on the phone).
Go to Start, Programs, and File Explorer.....Navigate to the folder you put the CAB file into and OPEN it, once opened it will automatically start installing.
I am assuming based on your question that its probably gonna ask you if you really want to install because it might not be a trusted certificate just click YES
Now its going to ask you where to install to.....option 1 the DEVICE.........option 2...........Storage Card(if you don't have a storage card then obviously there will be no options and it will just install)
Last, If you can't perform any of the above steps PLEASE don't even try OR attempt anything on this forum. Thread should be closed.
lol..kobe u went in too much detail trying to explain that..
man you have some patience..nice
i would have just said run the cab file from your phone..lol
Smoka PM me i'll make a video and send it to you so you can see how it's done.
No offense, but I'm a Noob on this forum and I know how to install a cab. BTW, I'm a girl.
Redundant thread alert ***
Why would you start another thread asking the same question when you got more than an answer in your original thread....

Hey man,the name's Andy.I'm new here on XDA and stumbled across this thread just surfing and looking for the MyFaves App as well for my G1. I am running the SuperHero V2 and am also looking for the myFaves app. I know a lot of people don't like it but it's just a quick way to access your favorite 5 people. Anyways...Do you understand any of this jibber jabber at all? I've read the thread and don't understand how to install the app onto my G1. When I flashed the Hero ROM to my G1 I lost the MyFaves App and am just trying to get it back. I've read many many threads on this topic but am still learning how to add apps. Any help would be greatly appreciated from anybody as to how to install this app onto my G1 with Hero Rom. Thanks in advance everybody! Any answers can be sent directly to [email protected] as I do not check threads that much. I check back every other day while being bored at work. Any Help is GREATLY appreciated!

get ready for some more jibba jabba. Be sure your phone is allowed to install non-market apps. Do this by selecting Options then Applications, then make sure you select the check box next to "Unknown Sources".
Next download the .apk and load it onto your SD card. After thats done go ahead and download Astro file manager from the Marketplace. With me so far? Good. Once you have astro installed launch it and look for the .apk you placed on your sd card. If you did everything properly then you will be able to select the .apk and press Install.
Hope that helps

I'm tracking on what your saying and totally understand but where can I download the myfave.apk file from? Thanks again,it's very much appreciated!
short answer: you cant.
the myfaves app is an odex file, completely different ballgame. basically, nobody has found a way of incorporating it into roms yet and t-mobile never put it on the market like their other apps.
regardless, unless youre using the myfaves app for the interface, its useless anyway. set your myfaves through t-mobile.com and then set up direct call links on your desktop using anycut or bettercut.

Couldn't say it any better. Plus you won't want the myfaves app on your phone because its a memory hog.
MyFaves?
OK,one more question. I've been trying to modify things and trying to figure out how to do this. Does anybody know how to use apps2sd to move the myfaves.apk or the odex file or whatever to the sd card? Basically like moving an app to the sd but with the myfaves app? Anybody understand what I'm saying? Just curious. I'm trying to figure this out so that I can try to port it to a Hero build. I'm kinda at a dead end here.Any help is appreciated.
in windows you have to have "show file extensions" enable in the view tab of Folder Options

I have myFaves already,I'm trying to figure out how to move it to the SD Card like apps2sd would do. When I use apps2sd though it does not move MyFaves to the SD card. I think if I could figure this out and get it to work I MAY(not for sure) would be able to port it to a hero build.IDK. I'm just trying anything to get it ported right now.I'm working hard on this and racking my brain and searching and looking and scouring for answers. Thanks for your input though.
ok, so maybe im slow or stupid & yes ive searched & searched, but no luck for me.
im trying to make some "flashable" update,.zip files to install to the system/app section of my htc cdma hero, & ive read & read, & researched, but im still at a loss.
so can anybody please in "noob/dummies" terms explain on how to do this, what files i need, b/c i see these "manifest.mf, cert.sf, & cert.rsa" files inside the update.zip files, & then theres the update-script file, & the apk.
how/where do i make/get these files, etc.
im ADHD & dyslectic, so please make it as simple as possible to follow.
also, how do i uninstall system apps & all the apps folders/cache files w/ adb, ive tryed but get "failed" error, i mean i can go in w/ root explorer & delete these, but it seems like a pain to track it all down, i just dont want to remove the app, but uninstall them completely, & not leave any junk behind.
thanks a million!
im trying to swap out some system apps (same apps), just different versions & size, & i tryed to just replace them w/ root explorer & reboot, but it doesnt work.
im on cm6.1 stable if that helps

Check out http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Barebones for a great guide on using adb to uninstall system apps.
As for update.zip info, I'm just starting to break into it myself. For a noob, I would suggest using the attached update.zip template (a read me is included ), and then you will need to sign the update. Two easy options:
1) Search the market for signapktic by Stericson.
2) Check out this amazing program: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/android-development/126517-pc-ppcgeeks-android-apk-zip-signer.html

Those three files are created when you sign the zip. If you just want the apks flashed to the system then you don't need to modify the script file in that template - as for the framework.jar/apk part of the instructions, you can ignore those because that part was added bc the zip was initially created for themers
If you're interested in doing more than flashing to /system, such as flashing to /data or /sdcard, or removing items with a flash zip then check out my old post HERE - as a forewarning some of the stuff can get pretty technical
Otherwise follow the above post and you should be set both signers he/she listed are pretty easy to use

LOL, I wasn't sure exactly where I got that .zip template from (That was a looong night of Google'ing and reading ) And the blog that you linked to is where I learned a lot of what I was after. Thanks! Now, if I can just figure out a way to create an update-script that will flash MY memory with all there is to know about Linux...

Folks, please be gentle if I'm asking something obvious... I'm new to Android. The question is if there is a way to disable some non-OS services (such as Skype, HeyTell, Google BlogService, HeyWire etc) from starting after my ROOTED DS7 is powered off/on. I'm UNIX guy, so was looking for something like /etc/rcX.d start scripts but was not able to find it. Advanced Task Killer for Froyo cant disable those permanently as well. Basically I need to stop it manually every time I turning on my DS7.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

It has been a while since I went into an android installation, but the install packages have the extension .apk. There is a folder on the device that contains the .apk files that are installed when the device is reset. If you go into that folder you can rename the .apk to .bak or whatever, and then do a hard reset, the programs won't install. Maybe someone with a rooted device can provide the directory names.

Thank you for the reply. There is a directory /system/app with bunch of apk(s) in it. However if I rename those which are starting after the reboot wouldn't it disable app permanently? It is not my goal, honestly. I just trying to find the way to use those on demand basis. Thank you again.

Titanium backup can freeze those app so they won't run, and then un-freeze them if you want.
Thanks a lot! Worked as a charm!
