I am a newbie with an O2 XDA Mini S
ROM Version:1.1.7.5
ROM date:9/22/05
Radio Version:01.08.10

Ext ROM Version:1.1.7.105

Pls Guide me through !
Thanks.
Xdawiz,
...cute name for a newbie! The people here expect you to do your research (and I don't blame them!!) ....that means combing through posts as others before you did. This does take time and energy. For procedures to upgrade a ROM I suggest you do a search as there are quite a few posts that tell you how to do it (hint: including one of mine).
The best ROM version??? No one will be able to tell you that becasue it depends on what you are looking for and what you use your phone for and how many problems are you willing to deal with. Do you want the latest and greatest?? Summiters Cingualr AKU 2.3 is awesome! 8) Some of the older ones though have had more testing time and therefore have been refined more. Try going through the AKU2.3 thread and seeing what some of the issues are and if they are ones you can work with. Many of them already have fixes that are quick and easy. Also...maybe look at the "Mr. Clean" AKU 2.3 thread and see whats going on with that one as it does not have any carrier custimizations.
...the only question I can not answer is using a Cingular ROM for an O2 device. Never payed much attention to it since I am a Cingular customer - but the issue is addressed in the thread - read carefully I think you'll find good news!!!
If you want to upgrade your phone and you want to do it right you have to read the threads and the directions!!! There is no easy process. Look at people's IDs and their signatures to see if they are also O2 users.
GOOD LUCK!!!
ms_guy99,
Thankyou verymuch for ur reply !Atleast therz someone in this planet to listen to me.
Planning to upgrade to Cingular ROM.As i asked i have certain doubts to clear before i make my phone dead !Thtz why i am seeking expertise help!

I was browsing spb forum to check if they had found a solution for spb plus not being compatible with aku 3.2 roms (http://www.spbclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=2169&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0)
and a guy pointed to a rom with, as they say it there, "a real aku 3.2", and with this rom, spb plus seems to work flawlessly...
Does anyone know 'bout this rom, I made a quick search here without finding out ?
here is the link : http://ul43.rapidshare.com/files/6726488/AKU3.2.1_216_300_35MB_WWE____MUN.rar

Why don't you ask this guy abouth the rom version, vendor, etc? I'm downloading it, but I'm on slow connection, it will take me an hour
ok it has been done
waiting for reply now....
Hi!
Installed Core 2.0n om my Qtek 9100 and It's working just fine!
Used registryWizard ant It states that I'm having AKU 2.0 and my question is:
What is AKU and what is the functionality??
I've seen there's a AKU 3.3 v2 in the forum and what is the difference?
Is It any idea to upgrade to AKU 3 if I'm running WM6 already?
...
here is a great little site i have found be carefull who you tell or everyone might start using it

AKU 3.3 is WM 5, so no if you have WM6 AKU3.3 would not be an upgrade for you, though it may work better depending on what you use your device for. I don't think there is even a 1.x AKU for WM6 yet. Most threads tell you what features are new or changed on the first post of the rom thread. It is up to the individual users to place a value on these features and determine what is right for them.
I would suggest you don't worry about AKU just read through the threads and find out which rom offers the best iterations of the features you want/need for your device.
Hi
Can somebody explain me what do the shortenings in the names of the ROMS mean???
For example: WM6.1CEOS20262.BUILD20262 Aku 1.3 [CHS 0804mui]19MB PP
What does 'CHS 0804mui' mean?
19MB... of what?? and 'PP' too...??
I found a shortening 'WWE' too... I can see it very often, so can you explain it?
PLEASE and thank You for help
ps. Can You help me to choose the best ROM too??
PP == page pool
CHS == Chinese
WWE == world wide english
other then that it's up to the cookers
they could call it
CheeseWheel
if they wanted
Thank you for answer
CEOS20262

19MB of pagepool.
Thanks 'Rudegar' and 'utak3r' for Your help.
Now all seems to be clear but not all.
I wanted to know what exactly this "page pool" is. I can't find any information about it. Is it important???
And what is the difference between a original ROM (that includes I don't how many of this PP) and this for users modified ROM that includes 19MB...
Is then better performance or what???
PS. Sorry for my 'stupid' questions but I'm new and don't understand...

yes it's speed at the cost of some memory
Ok. Thank's
When I'll have got a problem I'll write it down
Thanks for asking. There's no such thing as a stupid question, I believe. And fortunately the Himalaya community doesn't like noob bashing. Although I believe they've already aswered your questions pretty well, you should base your choice on
- the language
- the descriptions of the Rom cooks
- some of them give screen shots, but applying other skins is quite easy
- the OEM's (other software) they include
- the reactions of the users
AFAIK all recent ROMs are very stable and fast. Most of them have some kind of TouchFlo built in, allowing you to use your finger instead of a stylus to click, type, scroll and so on. Different developers have come up with different solutions. Personally I prefer to first read about such tools, then try CAB versions on a clean ROM, then decide what suits my needs best. Not only for Touchflo but for all OEM's. Most people however simply pick one ROM they like, learn how it works simply by using it, install other programs if they can't get used to a built in OEM.
Hi guys iv been trying out most of the ROMs on here on my new rhodium and i cant seem to find one that fits my needs, i just want a stock ROM such as the signed one with everything stripped out of it and no viual mods but something that will allow me to add custom clocks, taskbars and such things as in a cooked ROM, i know this isnt a possibility as everyone is out to try and prove themselves so i came to the conclusion that making my own from the stock signed or vodafone roms i have,
I have done some basic programming before albeit in visual studio which does write the code for you but i understand the basics of coding and debugging
I would like to ask for the most basic of basic tutorials or links that will get me started, i.e: You will need Visual Kitchen V3...... [Link] and you will need to have [this] rom and such
As im pretty sure i have most of the resources i just have no idea where to start, I'd really appreciate any help!
I'v been checking out the forum for quite a while and have learned a lot, love the work you guys are doing!
Thanks again!
EDIT:
Im only trying to create a 6.1 ROM not interested in 6.5 due to the speed issues it has
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=550028 may help, also Search is your friend

Give me a day or two and my PRO Super D-Lite (just thought of name for my new lite ROM) will be out and you will love the speed of it even with 6.5. I have an early test build in my older thread if you want to try it but the final is coming very soon.
I felt the same way as you with 6.5 but this ROM has me loving 6.5 now
Cheers Gordon,
And thanks Atom ill keep an eye out for it man!
And that thread Gordon linked to is great just what i was looking for, i did search but to no avail multiple times )=
Just keep reading and searching, all the info is on this forum or the wiki pages somewhere...
