Replacing the MDA Vario Rom / Extended Rom

Right now I am happy with my MDA Vario NL, except for one thing: T-Mobile branding. I've been reading a lot lately on this website and I figured out how to CID unlock and upgrade my T-Mobile ROM with let say Qtek 9100 WWE or i-Mate WWE (both in english).
Before I do this I just want to make sure if replacing/upgrading my T-Mobile ROM is sufficient to remove all the T-Mobile branding form the phone, including the splash screen at start-up, themes sounds etc.
Do I need to replace my Extended ROM as well with a compatible Qtek/i-Mate version to get rid of the T-Mobile stuff and how do you do this?? I have not been able to unlock my T-Mobile Extended ROM due to some errors. Is there an easy way to replace it??

Updating/Reverting just the radio rom?

So I think the next step to my weird repeater issue that I've been noticing is to update just the radio rom.
The stock USA TMO MDA comes with GSM rom 01.09.10, and I think that might be the reason why I can't auth to these GSM repeaters in this building.
Anyone point me to directions and rom updates for the radio rom? Also, is it possible to back up the current radio rom incase I want to switch back?
Also, last question, will updating the radio rom kill all the data on the device?
Thanks for any info.
I'm confused....
is the MDA a wizard or a wallaby?
You'll find the rom's on the ftp site....(and you sound find the older/current radio rom there just in case)
ftp://xda:[email protected]
no...it won't kill the data....

TMO (USA) MDA is a Wizard.
I downloaded the updated rom on the ftp site, but it doesn't have the 01.09.10 radio rom that is currently on there. That's why I was asking if there is a way to back up the current radio rom incase I want to revert to 100% stock TMO.
In the radio roms directory is 01.09.10 from a cingular.....but I don't know if there is any difference.....
You can backup your OS and Radio ROM with awizard http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=37386&start=0
Your T-Mobile is a MDA Vario (wizard), not a MDA (wallaby).

Actually, I just accomplished just that. Backed up the radio rom, updated it with the most recent radio rom... and it still wont work. There's something to these repeaters that is not letting these phones auth.
My T-Mobile MDA is a Wizard, I know. It's called the MDA in America, while most of the world knows the MDA as a Wallaby.
I should just call it a Wizard and avoid confusion.

T-mobile ROM vs. i-Mate ROM

Hello.
I've heard somewhere that the i-Mate ROM hasn't got any ExtROM. Is That true?
And another question: How can I downgrade a ROM what is says the next message: Upgrade Only!
iMate simply doesn't have any additonal files loaded in the Extended ROM. T-Mobile has specific customizations, like setting up the phone and text messaging to work on their network. If you use your phone on T-Mobile, I'd stick with their ROM (or a custom T-Mobile ROM) unless you're comfortable with changing all of the settings yourself.
As for the downgrade issue, you need to CID unlock your phone.
I've already CID unlocked my PDA, but the upgrade program says UPgrade Only. Did I missed something?
The I-mate ROM hasn't got any extrom, and the space of the extrom goes to the storage/program memory? so if I upgrade to an i-mate ROm I should get more storage/progam mem?

T-Mobile/Generic ROM on Cing. 8125?

Hello!
I recently purchased a Cingular 8125 and am waiting for it to show up in the mail. I am a T-Mobile subscriber and plan on unlocking the 8125 as soon as I get it so I can use it with the T-Mobile network, after performing a ROM upgrade.
My question is this: I'm assuming that since it is a Cingular phone, it's going to be pre-loaded with Cingular crap. Not that the T-Mobile crap is any better, but is there a way to install the T-Mobile (or generic/unbranded, like Qtek or I-Mate) ROM onto the 8125?
I mean, the MDA and 8125 are both HTC Wizards, and the hardware is the same, right? The button layout is just different? Would the T-Mobile ROM work on the 8125? Or even better, is there a generic non-branded ROM that I could install on the 8125?
Thanks much,
-G
You can flash the 8125 to the current MDA ROM using Risodoro's instructions.

That one? If not, could you point me to the thread?
Thanks!
T-Mobile ROM on 8125
Get a Cingular 8125
Unlock your 8125 - CID unlock the phone with lokiwiz 0.2b -
download T-mobile latest ROM from here
http://www.t-mobileapps.com/downloadcenter/software_detail.cfm?id=80
Connect through activesync
run the downloaded file, follow upgrade instructions on screen.
That's it, I did it, and it works fine...Good Luck
Where can I get Lokiwiz 0.2b?
I downloaded the one that was in these forums, but it doesn't have any of the tools needed. Lokiwiz 0.3a has them, but it's missing "pdocwrite.exe" and "preboot.exe"...
Where can I get the whole package?
EDIT: n/m, found it. Trying it now
EDIT: I tried it, I get "CopyFileToTFFS(cidunlocked.bin:0, 0, 00010000)
ERROR: ITWriteDisk - An internal error occurred." and I still can't install the T-Mobile ROM.
IPL and SPL are 2.25, that means it's a G3, right? How do I CID unlock this?

Need help with H3E Rom

How do I add cingular to the carrier codes in the payload.xml files so the desktop upater will install on my cingular treo 750
