Thx for the link, though I don't understand what they do at Palm development dept. OS and Radio are lower version as ATT firmware and to make it even worse, this version still got the backlight bug. Weird ****....are they sleeping instead of fixing?

I assume the above link is Treo_750_2_27_ROW_EN_Destopupdater.zip
that is not the same version on palm.com/th. The right version should be Treo_750_2_27_ROW_APAC_EN_Destopupdater.zip

I downloaded this version Treo750_2_27_ROW_EN_DesktopUpdater and when i run it it says my version is newer or the same as que one on the 750...
I have a unlocked 750 with ROM 2.23RWE installed.
Any idea ?

You may need to change the payloads.xml file in the temp folder the installer creates. Not sure what to change yet since I have not tried this update myself yet.

Can anyone else confirm that this update is actually worse than the 2.23 firmware? Backlight bug? Radio version?

I did the update. Changed the versions in the payloads.xml file.
Update from 2.23 to 2.27 went fine. Changes i found were newer carrierdb, newer cappackage, newer radio firmware.

I also did the same on the payloads.xml and it worked just fine

it says on the folder "APAC SPECIAL" (Vanilla ROM no branding whatsoever)
After upgrade i got:
- Super Vanilla ROM (windows Live included)
- Storage 51 MB (Clean no extended ROM)
- Software: 2.27 RWE
- OS: I got Older OS with 2.27 (Newer OS in previous 2.25 ROW)
- Radio: Newer Radio v1.54.01.00
- Carrier DB: your carrier DB will change to 385
- Backlight bugs Still there.

How can I us the SD method to update and for the software to load to 2.27

Mind uploading the APAC version to a mirror somewhere? The link im downloading above is 2.27-ROW i believe Is that the one you got?

I'm about to pull the trigger and try out this update. My 750's been acting buggy for the past few days, so it's either this or reload 2.23 (already tried soft reset).
Anyone unhappy with this (2.27) release? Any potential reasons why I should avoid it?

yeah... i tried 2.23 before... it's quite buggy.. gave me headache.
Much better using 2.25 ROW..
but right now.. I'm using 2.27 RWE... snappier, faster for sure.
(2.27 Officially Vanilla ROM from Palm, no need clean up)

compare with the previous 2.25
- 2.25 newer CE windows
- 2.27 Older CE windows but Newer Radio

Thanks sliders. I upgraded to 2.27 and after a day of use I haven't had any problems. Seems to run a bit faster than 2.23, but it could be because I haven't loaded it back up with apps yet.
BTW, what CE version did you have with 2.25?

There is a ROM released for TyTnII by HTC at htc.com? Any body try it yet? How is it different??

I can't see anything on the HTC site - where are you looking?

I check it out at HTC e-club (worldwide) update support and nothing for Tytn II.

I think this guy is talking about the AT&T rom update. Got me excited though!!!

Can you please tell us if this is the AT&T rom or real HTC... and even better a download link!

because i had to log on I doubt a link will work (Then I wouldn't have to make anyone wait for me to upload) it seems to be real HTC because u can get it it off of the US (which is 404 for the moment) or Europe FTP and is availiable in WWE or ARA (no clue what that is - arabic?)

These numbers do not make sense to me.

It's a real AT&T ROM. I flashed it with no problems. It seems more stable, but that might be because it washed out my "experiments." There is also a new version 4.0.0.97 Blackberry Connect. You have to access that with the stub. I'll try to upload the cab later. My employer's firewall seems to be blocking my attempts to upload it now.

does this new rom have better video performance?

So is not a new rom afterall for the generic Kaiser?

No, its a bit more stable and has better bluetooth performance, which i can confirm. There are a few threads about it already in the "Upgrading" section.

I tried to do a search but could not find the solution for not able to sync after rom update. Can connect via usb but won't sync. I know I did see a fix here somewhere but can find it. Any help would be appreciated.

Ah so this new rom is only the new AT&T rom and nothing else. I got my bubbles steaming for nothing. i will go back to sleep now.

Quick and easy tutorial for radio upgrading

Hi,
After few hours of searching, I didn't found an easy and updated tutorial to update my radio rom of my p3600...
I've read a (french) post with some data about updating, and I have done sim/cid unlocking. I've keeped my original (SFR) ROM.
Now I would like to update to latest radio, and it seams that the latest radio version is 1.50.08.11, downloadable from here : http://colrou.free.fr/1.50.08.11.exe
Can anyone confirm this update is working, and how I must do to install it ?

sorry for this topic, but I'm new here and not too skilled, so I need a detailed help 'cause I'm getting crazy!!...
Well, I have a p3600 EN version,
WM5,
rom version 1.23.405.2 (dated 2007-03-11),
radio version 1.38.00.11,
ExtVersion 1.23.405.103.
I read everywhere that HTC released rom and radio upgrades which unlock GPS (that I actually don' t see),
so I tried to download the latest official rom version (I still don't know the code, it should be the 1.23.408...) from the HTC download area, but it makes me download ONLY the same rom version that I still have, the 1.23.405.2!!!
I tried to flash it anyway and nothing changed...
That's why the 405.2 may is the latest rom version available for my phone?
Or my phone may have some sort of lock on it's codes so that I can't upgrade anything? it could be possible?
What is the right rom version I should have?
Please help me!!!

Hi Debby,
After you upgrade your ROM you wiil need to flash radio with Trinity_Radio_1567011_1216023505 .
To test GPS function download and intstall on the phone GPS test, then choose beetwen Tom Tom and IGO and install'it on the phone.
for GPS test try this download link http://www.smartphone-freeware.com/download-gps-test.html
For the ROM I can help you only by email.

So the steps are: install the rom u will send me, then install the radio upgrade, and then test the GPS...right?

I have the ROM upgrade only for radio version 1.56.70.11.
This upgrade is aplying only to the radio ROM
Your WM ROM will not change.
This is what I have on my P3600:
ROM version 1.23.405.2
ROM date 03/11.07
Radio ROM 1.56.70.11
ExtROM version 1.23.405.103
Before upgrading the radio ROM ,try the GPS test program.
Some phones "reveal" GPS capabilities with your radio ROM version.
Anyway,in both ROM version you don't actually see an icon for GPS device.
Install GPS test, run it from programs menu and you will see if you need or not an radio ROM upgrade.
If your GPS unit is enebled, the program will find it.
First connection of the GPS unit will take 3 or maybe 4 minute.
comunication port: 9
speed 57600
If GPS test find a GPS unit, install an navigation application(IGO or Tom Tom) , run it and enjoy

FWIW here is a link to the official WM5 ROM that does enable the GPS chip. It's the one i used initially to enable the GPS before making the leap to WM6.1. If i remember correctly it's a one step upgrade. Think it is the ROM/Radio you already have.
