Just wondering if you can use the Kaiser's ICS to get on the internet with a tethered Asus Eee PC?
I'm due to pick one up to take abroad on Saturday (Eee PC) but it'll be about as much use as t1ts on a fish if i can't connect via my Kaiser to t'internet.
why not? Just install Wifirouter on the Kaiser. If you are going to convert it to WinXP, you could do that by BT and USB too
I was hoping ICS on the Kaiser would be workable as i've not got a copy of wmrouter and it looks like it's been pulled from here
I have the same problem. I've installed a lite version of XP, but can't install Activesync or any usb drivers for my Kaiser, therefore can't connect through my phone!
Any ideas? There is no bluetooth on these eee's, but there is wifi.

Hi. I just got my diamond today, also bought asus eee pc. just thinking, is it possible to sync with linux? i havent even got it to find whole device.. i NEED my diamond to share internet to eee pc.
tried wmwifirouter, didnt work too well. doesnt connect just says "waiting..."
tried internet sharing: "check usb cable connection."
tried sync: nothing happens
tried usb drive: works fine.
help me! i kinda need this information how to sync/share internet to eee pc/linux fast. I have used linux, other wm5,6 devices lots before but have never synced or tried with linux.
thanks.
u try google ?
i found this
http://www.opensync.org/
So i have installed Athine lite, PDACornerUltimate.V17, and HyperDragon IV. Athine lite and PDA v17 are both based on WM 6.5 and i can not get WM remote desktop to work it just hangs @ connecting with no error messages. Hyperdragon based on 6.1, RD works just fine.
Any1 have a solution to get this working on v6.5? i have installed Mocha Remote Client and Terminal Services 2002 and both of those work just fine on WM6.5, but i really want to be able to map my device to the machine.
im currently running Athine lite as its fast and clean.
would you mind explaining how you got it to work the first time? im a little confused about the domain and ip address and such
so what is no one having a problem with this?
same problem here, just sitting on connect...
And there's no traffic since HSDPA doesn't kick in (switching between H and 3G symbol).
I've been trying Anryl's latest ROM's. 21202 rev 8 or 9 had RDP as part of the ROM at that connected ok.
I've just upgraded to his 21500 rev 5 and RDP is not embedded so installed from the .cab I used with WM6.1 and I get the hang at 'connecting' problem.
Don't really want to downgrade but may have to...
Same here. It worked with 6.1 but I install the same cab on 6.5 (Tai BlueCalm ROM) and it just hangs when trying to connect. I can't figure it out.
I found this link in XDA Developers and it works now for WM6.5.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=3592033
Was anyone able to establish a connection with this version of rdp 6.5? I only get connection errors when I try to connect to my Vista SP 2 System (works from any Windows XP and Vista device, so its no issue with my pc).

Yes you can with an ad-hoc connection. You'll have to google it though, as no one can tell you the exact details for your network as you will have to use an internal IP address. Start by googling how to use the "ipconfig" command in dos, as that's a good way to find out internal addresses quickly.
Start here:

Thanx for Reply Stuntdouble, but need more info
Thanx for reply stuntdouble but i need some more info regarding the same.
1. Link u have forwarded - I have already did before made a adhoc connection on my laptop and connected it from my winmo.
2. winmo cannot connect thru wireless though when connected thru USB get working fine.
3. I cannot even see a different machine other than my own PC in network neighbourhood.
4. I have installed Network access from HTC but it also dont show any computer in LAN conected while connected on adhoc.
please reply if this could be sorted.
thanx in advance.
Sounds like there's a firewall blocking the connection on your pc.
Hey guys, I have a piece of software I use from my laptop that datalogs and flashes OBD-II ECM's. Its a very simple software built into a single executable. The software requires .Net 3.5, which I found "Windows Compact Framework 3.5". Now is there a way to install that, and the openport2 usb drivers for the obdII device onto my touch pro and run the software executable from it?
I would really like to run this off my cell phone since its easier to keep my phone battery alive in a car then it is a laptop. Plus its a lot less crap to lug around. Thanks for any help!
No.
.Net 3.5 is different to .Net Compact Framework 3.5 (the latter is mostly a cut down version of the former, but with the required mobile apis).
You can not install windows drivers on windows mobile.
Your cable would not work as the phone is a usb guest, not host. I understand there are hacks to get it to act as a usb host but driver support is limited.
In short: Its a phone not a laptop, sorry!

can i ask what the program is? ive been looking for something simple to datalog on my obdii car.
This people on http://www.autoenginuity.com/ does have an application for connect their OBD II equipment to a Pocket PC. May be with this aplication someone can help you... http://www.autoenginuity.com/dloads/pocketpc_scantool_install.zip
Good Luck
Looks like in order to get that to work, you'd need to get the adapter that plugs into the odbii port, and then bluetooth adapter (http://www.autoenginuity.com/products-hardware.html) unless you've got a serial cable & adapter... might be worth it, let us know if you decided to set that one up... I'm using my SCT and a netbook to log data currently.
Maybe check this out, I was planning on ordering one, but never really got around to it.

Buy a NETBOOK.
I use it with my VAG-COM all the time.
I'd have to second SH4YD33 on that one, I do the same. VAG-COM on my netbook.
I bought bluetooth interface from ebay (noname) and its working with notebook, even connect to my Nokia 6300, but I have problem to connect it to my Touch Pro. I try OBDGauge 1.1. Any suggestions?
Ok I have been trying to use my pc connection and access that connection through my bluetooth on my kaiser, most I can get is the other way around. Any suggestions
Not sure that Internet Connection sharing in WinMo supports that...just wondering, why the heck would you want to surf the web on a 2.8" screen when you have a full PC available to you?
You can use the remote desktop facility via wifi. But as previously posted... why?! Bluetooth doesn't support a high enough datarate for it to work properly.
Connection at my location is 3G at best so bluetooth is defininitaly fast enough to accomidate my needs just simple stuff.

The best way to get the connection on your kaiser throught the pc is when you connect it using the USB and being connected to the active sync on your pc besides there are no settings need to be made for using this way. I'm not sure if you can connect the kaiser to you active sync on the pc through the bluetooth.anyway let me try it and if anything pops up, i'll let you know
Nope, no additional software required. Just go into Start - Programs - Internet Sharing. Hit connect and connect up your USB cable and you're done.
_Wait for ActiveSync to connect and then exit the programme._________________
Max confusion
What a jumble this thread has become . The O/P wanted to access the internet that's already on his PC and channel that through his TyTN II - NOT the other way around. As already mentioned in one post, one way of getting this is via an Activesync (or WMDC if it's Vista or Win 7 on the PC) connection. For greatest speed this would be via the USB cable but it is possible to have an Activesync or WMDC connection via Bluetooth for greater mobility if there's a need to carry the phone up to 10 m from the bluetooth hub. The other (more straight forward) way to do this is just to connect the phone via WiFi directly to the landline/broadband router (assuming there is a WiFi capable router avail).
Internet connection sharing is only for when the phones internet connection eg GSM/3G or HSDPA is feed to a desktop PC (say if the landline/broadband connection is down). In the O/Ps second post, the reference to Bluetooth speeds made it look like this was what was being saught.
I have done all of these with my TyTN II and had things working well in each case.
Hi,
I just bought a Bluetooth dongle for my PC. (Trust Ultra Small Bluetooth 2.1 Usb Adapter 25 M)
The main reasons for buying this was so I could sync without using one of my very spare USB ports.
Another big reason was that I really want to try SideShow.
So, I hooked the thing up, installed it. Works like a charm for most services (files etc). It just doesn't work for two things: ActiveSync (on the phone)/Windows Device Center (on my PC) and Windows SideShow. Yay.
Could you please help me out?
To summarize:
PC with Vista Home Premium,
Trust Ultra Small Bluetooth 2.1 Usb Adapter 25 M,
HTC S730.
Not working for ActiveSync nor SideShow.
x5x_tim
PS: I installed something called "X86-PC Drivers.cab" I found in some thread. That's supposed to be the drivers for the SideShow service on the PC. (I think I installed them, I did not get an error from Rundll32...)
EDIT: what might be of use: I can't get the devices to pair if I use the PC to initiate that. The PC does not find the phone untill I pair them using to phone to initiate.
I don't know about SideShow but I managed once to ActiveSync my Wings through Bluetooth. Just be sure to remove any security restricition on your Bluetooth settings on your device. Like Secure Connection etc... Also, setup a serial port when you connect with your PC and then, at PC ActiveSync settings, at connection settings -> Allow Connections To One Of The Following (Com 4 or whatever). And then, at ActiveSync on your mobile, connect through Bluetooth. Try it and come again if it doesn't work.
Yes! Thank you. It's syncing as I type. That COM4 did the trick!
In the same way, you can have Internet on your mobile through Bluetooth's activesync connection. It is helpful if you don't have wifi on your mobile.
