Orange HTC tytn 2

I am new to this forum, so sorry if i posted this thread in the wrong place.
I have a htc tytn 2 locked to orange, and i was trying to install tomtom6 when i realised that i need to update the rom to do that.
could you plzz let me know how i can install tomtom or update the rom as the main reason i got the fone was to use the gps on it.
Also if it is possible to unlock the fone then plzz let me know.

You don't need to update the rom
I'm on orange uk and took the card (with tomtom installed) straight from my tytn into the tytn 2 and worked straight off... well after I told it to use the internal gps
tomtom version = 6.0.32
rom is out the box orange uk rom

I guess that what he is trying to do is to install the TomTom software that came with other Tytn2 devices. Orange UK took that software off the CD and and I think that they adjuested the ROM so that the TYTN2 TOMTOM software refuses to be installed. I tried installing the TOMTOM TYTN2 version but it gives an error message... however.. my TOMTOM 6 from TYTN is working fine with builtin GPS!

i too have a out the box orange uk rom running tomtom 6023,no problems at all
the orange rom i have is :1.81.61.2 WWE
rom date : 09/20/07

I also have Orange TyTn II, running TomTom 6.0.3.0
With the internal GPS, I find it takes quite a while to get a signal lock. I reckon it's a pretty low power device internally, and it suffers from problems in built up areas. Even with QUickGPS, it takes a good minute to lock on at the best of times.
I also have a Qstar 180 bluetooth GPS, based on a SIRF3 generation chipset. This is much better than the internal and generally I use this one
Also don't under any circumstances even open the External GPS application. Even opening this stopped by GPS working. Insane, so hopefully a fix will come out soon

Confused - advice please

I have an orbit (artemis) and I've been offered the orbit 2 as an upgrade.
I've never had any probs with the orbit video, I convert everything to 320*240 25fps 400kbps.
The only prob I have is with poi warner & navigon running out of working ram and getting v. slow or crashing
Question:- should I go for a Diamond (from vodafone or t-mob etc.), do the vodafone or t-mob versions have any missing features.
Or should I take the orbit2 u/g.
Advice from peeps who've used all 3 machines would be much appreciated, I'm getting confused with all the 3D/2D driver issues (I understand diamond has built in acceleration, am I right?)

GPS lag solved with TOMTOM, problems with iGO8

Hello everyone,
i have solved all my problems with my htc diamond gps lag using Tomtom 7. Now the point on the map while moving is perfect and in time. Just upgraded the rom with the one of DIB and the radio from 25.95 to 25.08 version. (also the 3g signal is better now!).
Well.. using iGO 8 (with 3d buildings, real terrain, poi and everything) the gps lag is still big. At least 50/75 meters!!! has someone solved it? I tried to setup the features of the software as low as possible... but.. nothing changed. any help is appreciate!

excuse me, but what is "DIB" and what radio version is 25.95 or 25.08?

dib is an italian rom for htc touch diamond and 08 is the radio version with good umts and gps signal.

Can anyone else confirm if the radio upgrade fixes the GPS lag problem for Navigation software?

I never suffered gps lag or at max very few, just 1/2 seconds (I think anyway it is normal), after 2 hours, neither wait to test the phone, I cook the newest rom & the newest radio (at that time was 07), right now I have BS14 ver (previuos) was with 08 and ALL has always worked, so I really don't know if with old radios there is that (in)famous lag... because I never had older radios than 07

Annoying sluggish behaviour - T-Mobile MDA Vario III

I have a T-Mobile UK, MDA Vario III and have to say for me personally this is the best "all-rounder" of the MDA Vario phones I've had so far. I also use phoneAlarm v2.10 (latest) to assist in making profiles on the phone easier to switch between.... one gripe though (and I don't know WHY this happens)...
I'm in the middle of writing a text, or even generally using the phone, and it decides to just stop working for about 5 seconds. All screen and keyboard response just stops! Then it kicks back in again. Very annoying!
Does anyone else have this problem, seen it, or even better still, do they have a fix for this? By the way am also using the default WM6 Pro CE OS 5.2.1620 (Build 18125.0.4.2) that came with it from T-Mobile UK.

yeah i have a fix for your problem, which i suffered from too when i had a mda vario III: flash a new rom!
i am currently running duttys wm6 dualtouch v4 and it is so much better than the t-mobile rom. it has fixed so many issues that i had just taken for granted a permanent problems. Trust me it is like buying a newer better phone, but for free!

Really? Sounds good. Let me see where I can get this from and see the issues. Are there any issue with duttys though? (he says being the old sceptic).
And most importantly what's the battery life like? I got rid of "HTC Home" which chomped battery power like crazy, even using just GSM and not HSDPA.

There were no big issues for me. One thing I did have a problem with was I didn't hard reset the device after flashing the new ROM. This caused a few problems. Once I had done this they went away. The device is alot quicker. One issue I have found is that I can't change the cube icons. A little gripe but no other problems with this ROM otherwise.

I had the same problem on this machine. I eventually tracked down my problem to the BBC 24 custom template I was using with Spb Traveler for weather - it was using most of the cpu time! Solution - use another template.

I had the same problem with my vario III and the best thing I've done to date with it was to update to Sleuths ROM. It's damn fast, not buggy, doesn't crash, has all the features you could want and the best thing is, it was so simple to do. Just read the wiki to unlock etc, then follow Sleuths easy instructions. The ROM is called someting like "so many ROMS so little time" V3.0 (or somthing like that).
It does what it says on the tin.

quick gps settings for location?

how do you change the download setting for the quick gps on kaiser from the default us???
i live in the uk and want to get the gps working quicker as it takes ages to get a lock.
i'm using V06 poldo wwe (which is perfect for me) thanks poldo and radio version 1.70.19.09 which seems to make the phone work very smoothly and fast. lock times for gps with igo8 is about 10mins????????

I don't think there is default location for quickgps, you just open the program and download the data, it should speed up your gps.

I live in the uk and as you can see from my sig i am running same radio as you and when i use IGO8 or TOM TOM i get a satellite lock in less than 30 secs why not try a different ROM and flash a stock before a custom ROM cos 10 Min's to lock on is not right
