Hello, last week I damaged the usb connector on my trinity now data pin is broke (pin in the middle of connector), connection over the usb cabel with pc is not supported now. Fortunately charging the battery is ok
Because I have on my trinity damage varranty void sticker too, can i try it send to service, or its a waste of time? keypad is not ok too, key down, right and start, sometimes not response, but I order new one from cnn.cn if the service will be unsuccessful, I replace it.
But the main question is, because I cant use USB to upgrade rom? (I need flash original WM5 rom, now I use WM6):
Can i flash over the miniSD card complet firmware? OS, extrom, radio rom? and SPL??? because now i have SPL-9.99.CP and I need SPL-1.07 from my original rom, how it flash and no brick the device over SDcard?
Or can you help me, where I can "buy" new void sticker, or if its possible, can I make it?
Sorry for my bad english
Last question: When service will be unsuccessfull, do you know, where can I buy the new ExtUSB connector? I know that its hard solder on mainboard
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_SDCardFlashing
Let me know if your keypad replacement works out fine, if you do that. I dropped my phone, and now the Green Call button only works if I press the hell out of it. Very hard to do without accidentally pressing nearby buttons.
I replace the keypad by me, i dont send it to service because my warranty void sticker is damaged.
keypad from cnn.cn shop was ok, but now sometimes the "left" key i must press harder than others, but still is more good than previous original keyboard (start, right, down, green button was bad)
I know how to flash over SDcard but my question is:
Is the flashing IPL or BOOTLOADER over SDcard safer?
Or can I flash OS WM6.1 plus/or radio rom without problem with SD? Try it someone of you? Had some problem with this flash methode?
I cant use usb(its damaged)
PS: Sorry for my stupid questions, but rather I try to ask it, than later brick my trinity. I dont have warranty

Hi
I must give back my mda3 to my provider to repair on warranty. Arrow pad, down key isn't working. And second worse. My green key perform hard reset. First i was thinking it was bug of wm5, but not it wasn't. I think it is hardware issue. It is annoying when you want to answer a call and you perform a hard reset.
And questions now.
I've got roms from my provider. But when installing wm5 i've readed that there is doing something with extrom. I've formatted it back to 16mb, and all seems to be like factory defaults.
So if in service when they connect phone to PC, they can found i have voided warranty ??
regards
no it shouldn't be a problem, and my down key is broken too i just havn't had the time to send it in to get it fixed.
Ufff.
The broken don key isn't really a problem. But hard restting answer key IS. It hard reset even if phone is off and button lock is enabled in settings, so it must a be some kind of short circuit i think.
regards
I think that they will update your software on the phone, and think that they will notice that your extended rom password : eGnAeUlB is wiped out, so you broke your warranty.
I think that they let you pay for repairing your device. 8)
Hmmm
Is there possibility to put back on that password ?
NO!
just play the dumb customer and be like "uhh, all i did was use the updates on your site" (as you know they read these forums) you should be all good don't even sweat it.....then while they have it just tell them to install all the latest stuff....
I've found in warranty that they do not repair (under warranty) things that happened due to install third party software, so changing roms is not directly prohibitted but that says they will not repair damages that can be done upgrading roms from other provider.
And i think my problems have nothing to do with soft. I t hard reset in any circumastences. Even when i'm in config screen (after hard reset) pushing green button hard resets.
I think it is software independent.
I'll give it to service, and surely tell for few days, whats going on.
Today i'm gonna play stupid customer.
wish me luck
regards
WTF... I had one of our VP's bring me his Tilt and the thing is just booting to the bootloader screen and says Serial at the bottom.
KAIS1*0 MFG
SPL-1.0.OliPof
CPLD-8
But that's not all... When I plug in a USB cable it changes the 'Serial' to 'USB'. However, the USB plug on the bottom of the phone is mangled up with bent pins, so I'm not even sure it's making proper contact. I've tried straightening them out the best I can, but they still look slightly bent to me. Anyway, here's what I've tried.
1. If I reboot the phone without the USB cable it goes straight into bootloader mode (I see a quick "missing image file" message or something like that then the red/grn/blue screen).
2. If I reboot the phone WITH the USB cable connected it boots up fine into Dutty's ROM, but it never makes an ActiveSync connection. Like the PC doesn't see it.
3. I copied a new ROM (named it KAISIMG.nbh) to the SD card and followed the instructions posted by vip_snoopy. But when it goes into the bootloader, it won't load the new ROM (nothing happens at all).
4. I downloaded MMTY, but when I launch that application, it doesn't give me the USB option even though the phone is connected and I see USB at the bottom of the bootloader screen. Arrrgh!!!
This sux! Trust me, I've searched this forum, Googled and found some posts related to this, but nothing has worked and I can't find a solution. With the mangled USB connector and the phone not letting me load a new ROM via the SD card, it seems I'm stuck. I'd like to get this phone back to the point where I can at least attempt a warranty return. Either that, or fry it out so they can't see the Oli SPF or ROM installed. At least then I can tell them the motherboard died or the device is fried or something...
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise, I'll rip this thing apart and use the screen, keyboard, etc. for spare parts. Luckily this is a work phone so it's nothing out of my pocket. Although, it sux b/c I had to give my Tilt to the VP and now I'm temporarily using my old Treo 700w (yuck!) until I can get a replacement.
Thanks!
same proble with 2 different TILTs
both device are AT&T TILT, no problem with miniUSB connector.
Both devices are with original ROM
R 1.27.12.11
G 22.45.88.07H
D 1.57.00.00
when turning on bootloader, the serial appears, and while connecting the cable it turns to "USB" but no sync or USB recognition.
I unistalled and installed the activesync 4.5 and have no proble syncing other devices. (no driver problems)
did anyone heard about this problem?
many thanks!
I have a friend that got a Tilt and within a couple of days the pins inside the mini usb were messed up. He had to have it exchanged. Also, somewhere around here there is a thread because this is a known issue. I think your VP used a car charger or something.

must have been me....
@egypt 123: But what you describe is exactly what happened to my tilt. I did manage to reflash the thing from the SD card tho before a warranty exchange took place.
It took me serveral tries to get it to flash from SD. so I thinking is must be either a *****y card or you didnt follow instructions exactly. My was the later.
Good Luck

hey.
i bricked my htc diamond a few months back using that cdma tool and it was a gsm model. anyway i called htc and they told me to send it to them so they can repair it but the lady on the phone read some disclaimer to say that the repair will be free unless the damage was caused by me by flashing etc then there will be a charge.
should i be worried when i send it back?
I think they see that you bricked phone so no warranty
But it don't go to Boot Screen?
D'rath
it doesnt go to any screen at all, does not switch on or charge either.
it is still under warranty.
I'm sorry but if you did anything illegal with the phone, like flashing a cooked rom or another hard-spl, then they will not repair it for free.
I read somewhere on another forum about the HTC service, and someone there had sent his diamond to HTC for (visual, a key was broken) reparation. But HTC said it isn't under warranty, because he had flashed a custom boot screen! They said it was illegal software, so reparation will not be free!
But, have you tried to do a hard reset?

Try entering the bootloader (power+volume down). If it doesn't enter it, and you can't boot Windows, there is no (easy) way they can see you messed with the firmware.
i cant get into the bootloader screen at all. so i think its safe to send off but just incase i will short circuit the mainboard.
thanks.
can it be repaired?bc i have the same prob i think my diamond just had a short circuit?
OK.. so I am an idiot.. I will admit it right away. I downloaded an HARDSPL from a link on another site. The zip was named RHODIUM but inside the SPL exe's were named raphael. I didnt look at the name, ran the update and it said it completed successfully.... and now the Rhodium has a black screen. I waited for 15 minutues and pulled the battery.. now I can't get the thing to power back on. I have tried the Verizon hard reset, the bootloader key sequence.. nothing works.
If I hold down vol up and vol down and press the power button I get a green LED at the power indicator led but the screen is still black. When I plug it in to the USB cable, I hear the USB failure sound for windows 7 and nothing happens.
Does anyone have an idea how to get out of this??
That sounds really bad. I would consider posting in the HardSPL thread itself. There are some very clever people who may frequent that thread, and may be able to help. I take it you have downloaded the proper Rhodium HardSPL and tried it, despite the USB error sound? Also in Device Manager it may show you what the error is, worth a try.
I don't know if you can flash HardSPL via SD card but that may be one option.
Good luck I suspect you're gonna need it
Sorry to say, but if you can't access the bootloader at all, your device is very likely a brick. It's really difficult to fix a damaged or destroyed SPL by yourself. There were some tools made a few years back to help recover from destroyed SPLs, but AFAIK they aren't compatible with the TP2 or most other modern devices, and you have to be security unlocked (which I can pretty much guarantee you aren't).
IMO the best thing to do would be to take it back to the store and play dumb saying that it "just stopped working", in the hopes that they'll give you a new one, but there are no guarantees it'll work. Otherwise, if you're not into lying to the store, you could try sending it in for repair and paying the large fee of replacing the mainboard on a device with a voided warranty. Best of luck to you either way
uhmm i still have warranty on my x1 nd nothingz really wrong with it, except i dropped it the other day from a 3 story balcony and the rails to which the screen opens r bent, the phone is in perfect working condition thoe.. should i just buy a new housing nd replace it myself or should i try and get one from my warranty?
..also i can't get my gps to work with google maps fron nrgz new rom.. can somebody tell me the configurations of Com ports on their settings plz? thnx in advance guys..
from my understanding as long as you are using custom rom you will not able to warranty anything.
Reflash back to stock rom and claim on warranty, its not like the custom Rom caused the physical damage
yep, but never ever mention that 3 storey drop (or any other drop) or your warranty is void for sure
check NRGZ thread for rom specifics
gl
yea i'm going to revert to stock rom and spl obviously but i thought warranty doesn't cover physical damage, what should i say when they ask whats wrong with the phone, i don't want to f*ck up because they'll make me pay for the replacement xperia if damage on mine is caused by me. last time i just told them the phone doesn't wake up from standby mode sometimes when it is left on over night. should i just open the phone and fix the rail of the sxreen so that it opens and then just tell them same excuse? or will that make no difference..
any ideass guyss?? :S
F.M.L!!!!!
I don't know what i did to deserve this, lol
A week ago or so i dropped my xperia down the balcony and now i can't slide the keyboard out since the rails or w/e u wanna call it are bent. So i kept my cool knowing that i have warranty, today i go to plug my phone in my pc so i can restore it to stock rom and spl and then bull**** to rogers to get a new one, BUT something is wrong with the phone's usb, this has never happened before, i plugged it in and the phone turned off, i unplugged it then turned it back on and now the usb jack of the phone is not working... i've tried different cords, even when i plug it in the charger the phone wont charge. So i know i'm F.*.C.K.E.D, unless there is a way to restore stock spl through memory card.
IS THERE??????? if there is i can just put my memory card in my mp3 player then connect it with pc and put the required stuff on there, my xperia still has around 47 percent battery left i turned it off ofcourse untill i resolve this problem. What do u suggest i do??
:O
Should i just flash my rom back to stock and send it in like that.. i know they can check if the spl is stock from boot up screen but the thing is my volume button doesnt work either xD, i dropped it down elevator shaft and it hit exactly the volume down button and broke the button, now only up works. So they can't check through boot up screen and they can't connect the phone through usb.. should i flash stock rom asap then turn the phone back off and send it in with approximately 20 percent battery by then..
What do u guys think..
Well you could try to flash your phone through SD and see if it works, but I But usually get a warning when battery is below 50 percent... But I use pc method, so maybe it will work for you.
And if it doesn't, you said you're phones hardware is damaged, so it shouldn't matter what kind of ROM you have in there am I right? They just need to fix the hardware.... But I am a dutch law student, I don't know which country you are from and what kind of rules apply to you
/showthread.php?t=445662
that's where instructions are for flashing your ROM but NOT your SPL. if you just need to get back to normal ROM then you can do that... then, send your phone back...
Sorry to hear that
But i think that the warranty does not cover an accidental cases. Except if phone destroyed itself alone (which is impossible), i don't see how they can accept this under warranty and send new phone for free.
If its physically damaged because of your fault (which unfortunatley in this case it is) they wont repair it under warranty, warrantys dont even cover acts of god! so unless you got insurance you'll have to make do or pay them to repair it for your probbably??? maybe ask them if you can pay, no idea how much it will cost
there is no call to open a second duplicte thread to the one you already opened on the same issue!
pls refrain from such redundant actions in the future and also choose rule conform titles describing your immediate problem
