Microsoft Exchange Mail over WLAN - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

First of all...I am having a blast on this site the last couple of days! Thanks everyone.
I have been searching and found several old threads about Exchange mail over WLAN but not a lot of traffic on it lately. Is that because one program is so superior to the rest that it's an ignored topic now? Any oppinions on what is the best way?

I use active sync for my wireless exchange connectivity, no problem yet, in fact, it works great.

N00b Introducing himself.

Hello all, just writing my second post (I know its confusing me too) to say hello and to congratulate you guys for having a fabulous resource here.
I just bought a HTC Universal off ebay in the guise of a T-Mobile MDA Pro which I am rubbing my hands together in glee about. Hasn't arrived yet, but I'm expecting it veeery shortly. My wife isn't quite so enthusiastic, but never mind.
I have a feeling I'm going to need to unlock the little devil with the tools from Buzzdev (many, many thanks for that as well!) and will be using it probably on my Tesco Mobile net sim card, which is really an 02 simcard without the good internet access. I've looked at that though and I'll be trying out a few of the other networks to see how I go with that.
Anyway, just to let you all know, I am not completely technically stupid, I run a couple of websites and I'm hoping to convince this Universal to synch with my linux box, but I know very little about fiddling with PDAs and telephones and so on, so if I ask what seems to be a silly question, it is probably not based in laziness so much as ignorance.
Looking forward to chatting with you guys,
Alan
Hi Alan and welcome.
The Universal is a monster of a device - paperback book sized - but very upgradeable in terms of operating systems. Check out the many threads in the Universal section.
Not come across syncing software for linux but then I'm not a regular Linux user. Maybe someone else can answer that one.
Hi there
Welcome 0/
I'm also looking for a good way of syncing with linux, which flavour do you favour? I Presume you mean syncing with evolution mail or something similar?
a quick google found me this
Pocket PC Syncing with Evolution in Ubuntu:

I'll post as soon as ive got something working, let me know how it goes for you. Might be a week or so tho, ive got exams right now :S (one in 5 hours actually,,,oh dear!)
funk
Hello there TheBrit and funkus, thanks for the reply.
I was wandering around one day looking at mobile phones and so on and I saw an XDA exec dummy phone sitting on the shelves of the shop I was in. You know the ones I mean, they don't have any innards, they are just the shell tied to the wall and a list of features on a sign.
I fell in love with the damn thing, I kept going back to visit it over the next couple of weeks and I was devastated when the shop got new stock in and they didn't have the XDA Exec anymore.
However, I had an iPaq rx1950 which I am just about married to, it does almost everything I want except for work as a phone (which I don't use all that much anyway) and seemed to be doing the job, except that there was absolutely no way I could synch it with my Ubuntu Fiesty Fawn box at home.
Then I stumble across this site and find out that what I thought was an XDA Exec is actually an HTC Universal which can be sim unlocked (thanks to buzzdev) and that the wiki has ways of not just synching with Linux, but actually running Linux on the Universal as well!
That did it for me and I began my hunt on ebay. Found one on Friday night and with luck and cursing the bank holiday weekend, it should arrive today.
funkus, I presume you are running linux of some description and probably Ubuntu, yes?
If that is the case, there are heaps of different threads on the various forums which have information on how to synch with WM5. All of them involve the tools mentioned in the post you directed me to, although there are a couple of tools out there which involve KDE and so on. From what I can see, I should be able to get things going nicely and I think if you follow the instructions, you should manage ok to get Evolution all synched up. Couple of useful threads for you though:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=86302&highlight=synce
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=30936
and the synCE wiki page: http://www.synce.org/index.php/SynCE-Wiki
Both the threads and the wiki are incredibly useful for working out whether you can or you can't synch with your linux box. Unfortunately, with my rx1950, I can't. It just will not play at all, actually crashes both the ipaq and the computer.
Thanks for the welcome and good luck with those exams funkus!
Alan

I think I'm addicted to this site!

When I get online I'm always going to two websites first. That is, Myspace and XDA Developers. And after I explore those two sites, I never remember what other sites to visit.
But when I'm here, I exaust almost every forum like several times looking for something new or something to talk about. I get tired as I sign on here several times a day, looking at the same crap every time, just hoping there's a new version of Slide2Unlock, PocketCM or just some new stable Wizard ROM. AND I LOVE IT!!!
I just want to express my concern and my OCD over this place. I am totally unsatisfied of this experience and ask that you may CONTINUE WHAT YOU GUYS ARE DOING!!! I LOVE YOU ALL!!!
See what I mean, I can't control myself.
Great... I'm back here again... I need Xanax...
I am extermely addicted... I LOVE THIS SITE! I'm going to participate as much as possible.
Yep same here, ever since I bought my artemis and discovered this site I need to check daily the artemis threads just to see whether something great has come out. And then there is de development and hacking thread. I just can't believe how many talented people there are on this forum. It's just amazing what some guys can make and develope!
My wife is really starting to nag me about this. I should buy her a pda too

Ye u should b able to convert her over to ppc quite easily. Just find a feature she would find useful and then there's no switcing back to a regular phone after that.
Ugh! I'm getting sick of coming here every 10 minutes looking for an update to S2U2! Someone make me stop!
Have as homepage of my psp, N-DS, cell, Smartphone, Smartphone PPC, PS3, PC, Laptop, PPC PDA.
I'm Addicted. I need my fix quick.
I have to admit I'm addicted. I probably check the site about 4-5 times a day and just hang out waiting for something new to happen. Maybe we should get a chat room up and running?
I'm addicted.. I come here everytime I go on my computer and even on my phone.. because this site is really active.. people posting, updating new software and replying every minute.. maybe I'm alittle over exaggerating about the every minute part.. but this site is constantly active
i admit that i became an addictited freak too.
A thread like this was created a few years ago...
I´m also adicted for 2 main reasons:

what instant messaging service do u use?

hi
I've bene using a win mobile phone for 7+ years but I am new to the world of instant messaging on windows mobile, I signed up for windows live IM service but I was told I would be charged 20p per IM on T Mobile in the UK.
What IM service do u use, and how much do you pay for it? Is there a way to send IM via 3G, as opposed to a atext message as the 20p per message seems to sugegst?
Can skype be used as an IM service? and how much would I be charged? I don't want to pay the price of a text msg each time I send a IM.
Thanks
search...
this topic has been covered extensively in the last few WEEKS. i've seen so many of these topics, u will surely be able to find something...actually, a lot
why are u wasting your time on this forum if "Search" is the only thing you've got to say?
because, no when people do SEARCH for the topic instead of just posting new post after new post, instead of getting 5-10 good hits, they might have to sift through more than 30....but if you really want someone to do all the work for you, here:

Thats the only thing i dont like about this forum. I have searched for some things, and posted at the end of an old thread, and got no reply, thats happened twice.
I have also had some problems, as i assume a lot of new members here do, with which keywords to search for, granted, instant messenger is an easy search, but there are others that i didnt know, and have had real difficulty finding, rather than posting a new thread.
Wouldnt it be easier just ignoring the posts instead of a lot of users just keep saying over and over to search, or read the wiki ? A lot of new users will always ignore both of those things. Just seems a waste of time (imo anyway) replying to tell them to search.
And on topic, I have tried jivetalk, which was ok, and currently use palringo.
IM Bible
this could be helpful
I use Agile on the Tilt and Trillian on the desktop. Both are multi-protocol IM clients and work well.

What email software r u using in ur Fuze?

Colleagues,
I know this has been overly discussed in these forums but it is all scattered around in many different threads and it is difficult to consolidate in order to decide what to use. So, here is the question: what email software are you using in your Fuze? Thank in advance.

factory mail client does the work for me
Same here... default email client with TouchFlo works nicely! Have 4 email accounts there.
Ditto, including Exchange.
I use the default email client with SEVEN for push gmail. The SEVEN Beta client is free for personal use.

A friendly note to everyone using a custom rom. You are much better off asking questions in your rom specific thread. We all use different roms around here and since the majority of problems are rom specific, you will have a much better chance of getting a satisfactory answer in the rom thread.
