Loose D-Pad

I have searched for this but only seem to be able to find one reference to it but no replies so maybe Im the only one......
I have had my Kaiser for a bout a month - not used extensively yet but noticed only a few days ago that the D-Pad is loose in its seating - it appears to be excessively so and "wiggles" quite a lot.
either this is just me...or being new to HTC, its normal. Can anyone confirm/deny
thanks
Mine is loose too...
Mine too, and was loose from day one...
noticed mine yesterday too... could see the led on it
Might open it over the weekend to see if its a case of tightning or adding something to the keys to mak e it tighter
I also thought i was the only one, been like that since unboxing, it's looseness is kind of annoying
Noticed mine after about a week, and also two more which were literally just out of the box.
It's annoying, but I'm prepared to live with it. Form wise it's one of the better build qualities and I'm still generally over the moon with it. Just wish it ran like an iphone! bought someone an ipod touch the other day and man it's so damn pretty!! I just kept telling myself that my phone does all the iphone does and more, UI wise it's just a little more plain-jane hehe.
Ant
the tytn ii is way better than iphone; better everything - no-one should need to tell you that
iphone is a girly phone. all it does is look pretty
apart from d-pad, im very chuffed with mine. also now running pocketmusic 5 on it and that makes it as good a music player.
Mine is loose too, but i just kind of got used to it.
it does seem like some of the shiny finish is starting to chip off though. that annoys me a bit more.
I had to send my tytn II off for repair due to another issue. Calls/texts would not work while in 3g areas. Anyways I got the phone back and noticed this aswell about the d-pad, but I wasnt sure if it was like that before I send it off. But I really notice it now and it annoys me, all in all tho apart from that its a fantasic phone. Glad I not the only one with this problem.
i notied mine is lose to this week ...
Ok, this loose d-pad issue was raised before and it is not a problem. All TyTn IIs have about 1mm of play. The d-pad has a "lip" which is seated under the front bezel. It will not fall out and it is a standard part of the design - just ignore it it does not cause problems.

The "looseness" is part of the design. The D-pad is subjected to finger pressure all the time it is used, it is expected to have some free-play movement.
My d-pad has also this kind of "looseness"
But this is very strange because this looseness is only on the left side of the d-pad. It seems to me that something has been broken!
Melkor
I've got the same problem.
I solved it with a small piece of screenprotector which I placed on top of the d-pad beneath the edge.
Noticed that the first thing I took it out of the box. Not a big deal to me.

No it's not broken. What is unusual is that yours only slides about on one side - most slide around all round (slightly more on top / bottom edges. I think if you tried a little more force it would slide all round. It really is not a fault and not a problem. (the pad merely sits on top of the actual switches and is not connected to them - so the movement is of no consequence)
Mike
Yeah, that's normal, mine too... This is the new HTC quality ...
Really, this device sucks !!!!!!!!!!!
- Not good for gaming
- Not good for playing videos
- Bad quality D-pad
- Keyboard not very good (worse than the original TYTN one) from my point of view
And all of that for around 700 € ... !!!!
Anyone who want to buy a new pocket pc, please think twice before choosing the Kai-**** !
The more I use it, the more I hate it ... I have it for about two weeks now and I still prefere to use my HTC prophet !

Can you please explain where is the interest of this looseness ? I had many pocketpc before this one (and 2 x HTC's), and it is the first time I meet this looseness. And from my point of view, yes , it is annoying !
I hate the feeling I have when pressing the pad or the buttons, when you should have a high quality machine (700 € ...) it is disapointing to feel the buttons moving under your fingers.
When I recieved my first Tilt, the D-Pad was very loose. Also, the UP button had to be mashed a little hard for it to work. It would do the 'click', but wouldn't engage unless you pressed a little harder. This was happening from the minute I took it out of the box. It was very annoying so I returned it for a new one. The new phone D-Pad is not loose at all and works perfectly. I've had this second Tilt now since about 10 days after release, so it's received quite a bit of use. Not sure what's up, but there was something wrong with the first Tilt I received.

scrolling on the touch screen

When im trying to scroll on my screen more time then not i will click on something or highlight it or my screen just will not move and if it dose it will go all the way to end of the page. is there a better way or a spot that i just dont know about to move the screen..
Also my battery seem to have a very low life<it is brand new> is there anything i can do to help that out..
Thanks
Welcome to the world of HTC. If it's not too late, return it to the shop and get something else. I've persisted with mine for a little over 4 months but my patience is now wearing thin. Too many bugs and I'm fed up with having to perform soft resets on a daily basis. Mine is going up on eBay.

HTC Dream Defects

Hi guys,
I was going to buy a used HTC Dream and I was wondering what defects or problems I should look for. So far I've read about people hearing buzzing during calls and squeaky cases. Obviously I would check if the phone would boot and make calls but I'm not sure what else could be wrong with it. Thank you.
I've had no problems with mine other than it squeaked when I got it like you mentioned. But that is easily fixed with an exacto knife and 30 seconds.
Defects? i have had no problems whats so ever with my phone since i have been having it...sound quality might be off but thats because of poor signal though
memory card comes loose all the time. sometimes from slight movement, sometimes from slamming the screen closed to fast. sometimes when sitting on the counter and nothing at all is touching it. this is a problem because if you have apps2sd and swap it will crash the phone and corrupt certain apps.
also my D and F keys are going out. The chin is a horrible design "feature". An attempt to make it look more like a phone but it just makes it hard to press buttons while it's on the table.
the amount of ram reported in specs is missleading. in other phones HTC makes they dont count the radio chips ram in the spec.
battery is pretty small. most people opt for the 2400MH one which makes the thing huge.
there is no 3.5mm jack. (wtf mates)
lots of wasted space on the front of the phone that could be used for more screen space.
the chin doesn't slide with the screen making a large block on the right side of the keyboard that makes it hard to type.
The price I pay for android
Sliding mechanism gets loose after a while
Poor battery life, no matter what you say.
Backlight on the keyboard is a tad bit uneven.
It doesn't dance the way I want it to.
Sometimes you can pop the SD card door off, which is annoying.
Strange camera that takes either fairly good pictures or absolutely terrible ones.
I can't run Crysis on it.
It causes you to have OCD and constantly update ROMs and be completely obsessed with it trying to make it better until the point you no longer have a social life and your one and only friend is your G1, then you finally brick it.

I gotta disagree with the chin.. I think its pretty awesome... ugly... but oh so useful... I've dropped my phone at least a dozen times and not a single scratch on the screen because the chin elevates the screen above the ground so its actually very hard to scratch the screen from dropping it ;D

ugly? i think it gives the phone character. like it says to other phones "i will kill you and eat your children and lick their blood off my chin because i have chin."
I'm not sure if anyone else has this problem, but from day one I found that the outer keys traveled further, and the inner keys (on the keyboard) didn't travel nearly as far. It's kinda annoying, as the outer keys feel nice to use >.>
But yeah other than that: battery life, my sdcard door had to be glued back on and the screen creaks on the bottom right corner (exacto knives ftw). It's still a damn good phone.

I can get 3 days charge out of my stock battery...... and that's browsing the internet for 2hrs a day and about 40 txts

Haha, the final part of your quote is true. If it's your only friend, and you brick it, well, you're a loner.
As for my HTC Dream, it's great. The battery life is poor though, I wish I could tweak it to "Supah High Energy Saver" Mode, I have to recharge it twice a day (one via USB at school, and one on AC at home).

I am sorry, but I do not believe that unless you are maybe browsing with 3G off, Wi-Fi off, Bluetooth off along with the display brightness at the lowest it will go. Then maybe. Why? Because I don't even use the internet for 2 hours a day, that is a lot and I still have to recharge at the end of the day. 3 days is what people using 2400mAh extended batteries are getting out of their phone.

Me too. Same keys. I have to practically MASH my f key down to get it to register lately. My D key works when I try using *just it*, but if I'm typing quickly it never does and then when I go back and press it, it seems to work with no problem.
Also, my DEL key is starting to go. ]
It also drives me nuts, when I'm typing, that the phone isn't vertically more symmetrical.
i can narrowly get 3 days out of my G1 with a 2400Mah bat, the stock battery is good for a day thats it.
the good part about the 2400 Mah bat besides the excellent bat life is that it makes the phone so large its much easier to type on the keyboard afterward IMO

S6 Edge Getting Hot

Just wanting to hear what everybody has experienced for device temperature so far. When I was setting my phone up I noticed it got almost unbearably hot (to the point it was making the palm of my hand sweat and the metal edge on the power button was pretty hot). Now mind you this was while restoring from my previous device and getting it set up, but I still feel like this might have been abnormal and want to see what everybody else has noticed so far.
My phone was getting pretty warm during the set up process. To the point where I had to set it down. But after the three days I have had it, it has never came close to the same temperature since.
Yup.. Mine gets really warm on the right side when I use it heavy..
Mine also got very hot during setup, mostly on the right side next to the camera. But since setup it's stayed relatively cool. Had it for a couple of days.
Mine gets warm when I make a Google Hangouts voice call on LTE. Gets hot within just a minute or two. To the point I cant touch it to my face... Battery drain is quite intense as well. This is the first phone I've had that got so warm while during a hangouts call.
Just Got my s6 edge a few hours ago and IT is extreme hot. During setting up i needed to take breaks because i couldnt hold in any longer. Lets See tomorrow.
Mine got really hot too. I found a fix though. Stop taking dirty to it.
I know we all hope this is normal...but heat is BAD for electronic components! Thus the need for fans inside PC's and Laptops! Many have now come to the conclusion that heat is what's causing the screen to stop rotating due to toasting the accelerometer/gyroscope. I have also read about the phone getting very hot when using GPS. Warm is one thing...but too hot to hold in your hand is a much bigger problem. I would be surprised if Samsung or the carriers come out with a fix for this issue as it would mean slowing the CPU down, or killing fast charging.

Lol. I find that mine gets hot when rubbing it's curves. But each phone is different.
(for the humor challenged the above was a joke)

nexus 6 speaker phone issue still going on and sudden shutdowns

Just out of curiosity has anyone able to find a fix for this issues as well any flashable Zips out there? I've been having this phone for a very long time even though I still can't resolve my issues with the noice on the top speaker as well with the sudden shut down when on 40% to 30% gets me frustrated but I still love my Nexus 6 I wish there was a fix these issue I can't send mine for repair since it expired of the warranty!
Your issues with the speakerphone and sudden shutdowns are unrelated. The speakerphone issue was fixed some time ago in custom ROMs, and if I recall correctly was never present in stock. Your shutdown issue is because your battery is worn out. You'll need to replace it.
Yep, bad battery, had to replace mine at the start of the year, if it's at 30-40% don't expect much more out of it, the battery can't put out the required voltage the system needs to hit clock speeds. Could limit clock speeds for a very temp fix if desperate lol.
Far as the battery goes, my advice is get one that's already bent into shape / curved. I made the mistake of getting a flat one and had to curve it myself which is basically impossible. Turns out the funny thing with the Nexus 6 is the shape of the battery fully dictates the shape of the midframe, if it's not perfect then the midframe bends to match the battery not the other way around, and you can imagine what this does to the entire phone since having a warped midframe + battery will make the entire device to fit the same form. Sitting mine on a level surface it is clear it is no longer straight. I've tried to redo it many times but repeatedly bending a battery is not very advisable :-/ lol.

Ah alright thanks for the advice I had mine for a long time and it hasn't been doing that and now I noticed the speaker crackle and sudden shut downs even when playing Clash of clans I hear static on the top speaker and it shuts down :/ making me annoyed it's settled that I'll replace my battery I don't want to get a new phone just yet because I surely do love the N6! It's one of my all time favorite Phablet!
