Hi there, i use the block recognizer a lot to compose SMS messages and on my old touch the word completion feature worked like a charm. However, no matter what settings i use on the diamond (e.g. suggest 3 words after 1 letter etc.etc.) this feature doesn't come up!!
Does anyone have the same issue, and any fixes for it?
I got the HTC touch on the first day it came out and haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. My diamond has been full of issues since day one!
Maybe stupid...
Did you check in the settings if word completion is active?
Yes, the option is definately switched on....but no luck in actually completing any of my words!!
I have the same problem with my Spanish ROM using the "standard / classical" keyboard
Help, please!

You are correct. I complained about this in an earlier thread. I am using the latest ROM and it does not work.......
Doesn't work for me either!
Doesnt work for me either. On my Tytn I choose to create a new message and when I start to type the contacts name for the To field it lists the contacts for that letter so I can select the correct one. Then for the message it will suggest words as I type, this is exactly what I want on my Diamond. I dont use T9. The nearest I can get on the Diamond is if I have "Word completion in ABC mode" ticked in the T9 Settings box then word suggestion works but it doesnt suggest contacts for the To field when creating a new message, instead it suggests words. This is not how I want it
Same problem....
I have the same problem, but only when I use the Block recognizer, using the keyboard works fine, but I'd rather use the block r... so when I need to list the contact I place the names and when I press send the phone give me the choice to select the right contact...
you need to disable xt9, then autocomplete will work again
Use something like KaiserTweak or Boinger's diamond config to change
Hi there, I try to create a cab file which can enable the word completion function for MSFT IME ( Block Recognizer / Keyboard / Letter Recognizer ).
Have fun~
http://rapidshare.com/files/133542391/Add_MS_Qwerty_Keyboard_WC.cab.html
I'm new to this level of use - I have had Win Mobile for years, but only yesterday did my first ROM update! How do I disable T9? I'm desperate for word completion on block recogniser (the only way to input!)
SOLVED
IMPORTANT: previously be sure that HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\XT9SupportMSSip has a value of 0.
Simply change these two registry keys under:
HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\layouts\e 0010409
Ime File : \windows\xt9ime.dll change to Ime File :\windows\compime.dll
and
Layout Text : XT9 IME change to Layout Text : COMP IME
And soft reset.

It Worked!!!! ur a genius thx a million bro
Thank you for this - it worked beautifully!
Thanks to you, it worked like a charm
Nope it does not work perfectly. After that change, word completion only works for letter recogniser, but it does not work for the phone keyboard, compact qwerty, anything that uses the phone keypad.
The HTC keyboards all use T9 word completion, this thread was for the MS keyboards/input methods.

Do you know maybe a solution to have word completion in ABC mode also for HTC keyboards?!?!
Thnx
Urosh
I tried it... It is working perfectly good!!! Thank you very very much.
Changed my registry settings as suggested on my HTC Diamond and it worked perfectly fine. Thanx a lot. I really missed this.
Hello,
I used the search and Google to look for an option to turn T9 off, but I couldn't find anything. I'm currently using the Full QWERTY keyboard on my MDA Compact IV and by default it has T9 on, which I really don't like. Every time I start writing a text or something else I have to switch to the ABC mode.
So basicly my question is: Is it possible to change the default setting of these modes? T9 is on by default, but I want to be off by default and ABC mode on by default. I hope someone can help me.
Also on another note, is it possible to show 'Tasks' in the start menu instead of just 'Calendar'. Now I have to click on 'Start', 'Calendar' and after that on 'Tasks'. I just want it to be right there. I'm by the way guessing those are the menu names, since I'm using a Dutch version. It's called 'Taken' and 'Agenda' on my phone.
Thanks in advance.
*bump*
Doesn't anyone know how to do this? Is it even possible?
Same here...is there somebody who knows a solution????
Really NOBODY?????
I've been trying to look for an option to change in the registry. So far I haven't been able to find anything. So, is there someone else out there who knows how to help us ?
There is a cab file here for disabling t9, the problem is that it doesn't disable only t9 in full qwerty, but in all the keyboards, and on the standard keypad version you only get numbers. not very convenient...

And by the standard keypad you mean the keypad of the actual phone? That's not convenient at all. I wouldn't removing T9 from all the keyboards though. I have never used it and probably never will, since I just don't like it.
To disable XT9 Windows Mobile:
Go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\ and change the key "XT9SupportMSSip" from value from "1" to "0".
Works on my diamond, hope this is what you're looking for

Hm, that didn't work for me. It was also on "0" for me by default, so I tried setting it to "1". That didn't work for me either.
Hi guys,
to turn off T9 by default change the value:
HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\IME\CarrierDefaultTextMode
from "1" to "0"

Wow, thanks a lot kasikm! That's exactly what I wanted!
What I would like is the opposite...I would like T9 active by default. I use Compact QWERTY and sometimes T9 is on and sometimes it isn't.
Hi Guys
Sorry if this has been posted, I did do a search and couldn't find a solution.
Whenever I change the input type in the input settings, it immediately defaults back to compact qwerty when I go back in to look.
Is this a known problem?
Thanks in advance
Nobody have any ideas?
After flashing the new ROM i've the same problem.
Every time i switch the keyboard layout, it automatically returns to compact QWERTY.
Can the layout be set in the registry?
I haven't found any solution yet.
fixing the default imput method
I also had this problem and it was driving me mad! However, searching the forum I came across a recommendation to use a little program called SIPchange. I installed this (it's free!) and it allows you to set any imput method as the default. So far it seems to work.
The only problem I now have is that the Letter Recogniser doesn't show me any suggested words as I enter text, despite this option being switched on in the settings. Any ideas anyone?

Same problem, dont know why.
There's an easy solution though: click the little arrow by your keyboard icon and select mode from there instead.

Yes, in this way the set change but ... if i write one sms i can use only the qwerty complete and not the compact !
It's not a problem that it doesn't save when you tap OK, it's that it's not supposed to!
Start>settings>input does NOT select the default input method.
tapping the arrow at the bottom and selecting it there as murklor said is how you change the keyboard.
why it would not save from there is a mystery however. generally, whatever you select using the arrow is saved and comes up from then on until you change it again.
I solve my problem using sip.cab, a little program that i found in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=368527
How can you set the default keyboard on the phone? When I go to Language & Input>Set up Input Methods the screen is blank even though I have Google Keyboard installed. Nothing comes up when trying to type something either. Any ideas?
