ebay application? - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Hey all,
Does anyone know of any ebay applications to keep track of auctions, or reminders for auctions about to end/outbid on items.
Or, an alternative, if there is a simple application to sync your ebay auctions with outlook so it adds in calendar entries for end of auctions?
Thanks for any suggestions, I've searched all over and can't find any ebay applications at all, and only one that was for the calendar in outlook but that required IE which I don't use.
Thanks!

The site for the app appears to be dead, but it may come back online sometime, or you can find an alternative method of obtaining the program.
Edit: This site is for Palm, but this one http://www.pdatoday.com/more/1657_0_1_0_M/ says Windows Mobile

Hm, yeah reading up on it, looks like it was a subscription service too, which seems a bit much.
I'm amazed nobody else has written such software! Pity I left the old VB and Delphi developments behind years ago otherwise I'd have given it a shot!

T-Mobile Vario III. First Impressions

So my Vario III finally arrived today and I've had chance to give it a nice charge and get it setup how I like. Hence, I thought I'd drop a few impressions for those of you waiting for yours to arrive...
The look: It doesn't have the black frontage of the HTC model, but it does have a very nice brushed metal thing going on. The T-Mobile branding is kept low-key with their logo and a simple "MDA" at the bottom of the screen. The Internet button has the Web n' Walk logo. There is nothing at all on the back of the device. I'll try and get a picture of it for you, but I think the only cameras around here are on phones, so it won't be great.
The software: I panicked a bit when I'd done the initial screen calibration and the T-Mobile customisation kicked in... I let it do its thing though, and I'm pleasantly surprised! There's no obvious branding shown anywhere in any of the programs, apart from the Web n' Walk icon and, of course, the homepage of PIE defaults the T-Mobile portal.
The Touch style front end is in full effect works as you'd expect.
There's an installation of F-Secure Anti Virus on here. I'm not sure if it comes with the HTC version, but it doesn't appear to be licensed at all. As soon as the trial runs out I'll be removing it.
One thing that I'd suggest changing immediately is the awful T-Mobile ring tones that are set for the phone ringing, along with a bunch of message alerts and reminders. Oh how I hate those tunes!
Bundled software: The CD is pretty minimalistic but does feature a GPRS monitor and Sprite Backup. There's no Outlook and no TomTom Taster Edition.
That's all I can think of worth telling you for now. If there's anything you want to know, I'll try my best to find out for you.
Does it have the HTC Today plugin on the today screen?
The large digital clock and weather information plus the notifications and tabs for launcher and photo contacts?
I ordered my Vario III Today as a free upgrade!! It arrives tomorrow
Sounds like that's the Touch style front end I mentioned.
It has everything you listed. I must say I'm pleased with how well the weather bit works. Added to that the speed of establishing a data connection and then downloading stuff is far, far quicker than my old MDA Pro (Universal).
I'm glad they got the right device out to you this time.
I managed to get mine ordered at 08:30 this morning and mine should be here for lunchtime tomorrow.
Bummer about the lack of TomTom taster or Outlook. I imagine Tmob have still got an arrangement with CoPilot for SatNav bundles. I'll have to look for a cheap Exchange provider as some of them are giving away copies of Outlook 2007.
How fast is your data speed? and I'll keep my fingers crossed that the Tmob ROMs don't exhibit the SOD that some have experienced.

For anybody who doesn't have a free exchange mailaddress to use with the push-mail functionality on WM5 and WM6:
mail2web is still (I think) giving away free exchange mailadresses...
Just go to mail2web.com and sign up!

That would make sense as to why TomTom isn't included. I never thought of that. Luckily I have a copy of TomTom 6 that I can use anyway.
Data speeds have been great. Connecting to the UMTS network here is super fast and download speeds have far exceeded what I got from my Universal, although this is downloading virus definitions and weather reports. I haven't tried general Internet browsing just yet.
I can't comment on HSDPA speeds as it's not available here.

Free stuff always makes me a bit wary. What's in it for them? Do they send you spam, or attach ads to your mail? Is it possible to tie it in with my existing email service (which I control)?
I suppose I could go to the website and find out myself...

I use it for over a year now and never got any spam form mail2web or nasty pop-ups / ads...
They give it away as a free service for personal use and you only have to pay when you want it for professional use...
I never found any strings attached and I can say I've used it quite extensively
I really wish I knew when (or approximately when) T-mobile US plans to release their variant. This way, I can decide to wait or get the unlocked version (and possibly have to switch service providers due to 3g bands)

I signed up before you even replied, figuring it must be worth a shot. Signup was painless, then I just had to tell my mail server to forward incoming mail to my mail2web account.
Setup the account on my phone, gave it a quick test and it works a treat! Thanks a lot for the recommend.

Funny you should say that; the Live applications are somewhat absent. Is there a messaging program I can download somewhere? I always used to use Agile Messenger on this plan until it stopped being free and de-activated itself.
just install the windows live messenger cabs flying arounds in these forums
Hmm. I installed Fring and it didn't seem to be able to connect. I'll try again later though.
I'm a bit hesitant to install the Live stuff thanks to its importing all of my messenger contacts into the phone contacts. Something I really want to keep separate!
I'll keep fiddling with 3rd party programs and keep you posted.

Well I can say they haven't blocked it for the Touch as I gave a college the cab of Windows Live
I use Palringo on my Kaiser on T-Mobile (But my handset is unbranded) and it works.
From what I can tell, palringo seems best. Supports MSN / Yahoo / more... and has PTT Plus it is free...

This is pretty frigging ridiculous. From what I can see, syncronising contacts and calendar relies on having Outlook. How am I supposed to sync if I don't have it?
Got mine delivered this morning.
I havnt got the GPS to work so far (applications connect fine just the skies too cloudy to pick up any satellites).
Coming from the o2 Exec im finding the keyboard a bit small, and some of the keys having been moved around but nothing a weeks of use won't fix. Though using the keyboard while plugged into USB isn't all that comfortable.
The tmobile branding isn't as bad as i expected, though i would have preferred the black finish HTC look.
I've had no problems with connectivity. HSDPA and 3G seem to flip back and forth every now and then.

Blackberry Messenger on a TILT

is it possible?
At work one of my coworkers told me someone got it to work on their tilt and wanted to know if I know how to do it. I googled but didn't find anything.
it states in the article that you can read message sent to you, but can't send them. doesn't make sense.
http://crackberry.com/blackberry-101-lecture-8-basics-how-use-blackberry-messenger
It's my understanding that BB IM uses the BB pin. Pin messaging is not fully implemented in BBC. Implementation also varies by BBC device. Hopefully they will add more functionality in yet-to-come versions.

Thanks alot I will try this out with my friends phone. Appreciate it. He told me he was able to read the pin messages but not send out. Thanks alot though I'll keep this post updated onhow it goes.

Just wanted to add here so that when/if others come across this like I did... The above does *NOT* help you with Blackberry messenger as the OP asked... It *DOES* however help you get bbconnect running on a cooked rom.
There is no Blackberry Messenger available for PPC yet, though RIM is supposedly developing the "Blackberry Application Suite"... Though there's be no news on it since the initial press release so don't hold your breath!

Is your friend's phone on a BES? Or just bbconnect? If he is on the enterprise server then security settings might be an issue. I had the same issue when trying to do a wireless sync with MS Exchange. Read the article below regarding the "protected groups" in windows server 2003. He can not be a part of any of the groups listed towards the bottom of the article. On top of that he would need to add the BESADMIN user rights for "send as" and "receive as" rights to his name in active directory. Do some more research on connecting a bb 8830 to BES with Exchange and you will understand.

i wish gmail would come out with a googletalk and gmail push for wm6 like they did for blackberry...the blackberry edition of the google software is awesome.. my sister has black berry and i signed her on gchat and it hasn't signed off in 20 days
I'll be the first to admit I don't know squat about blackberry, but I do have in my hands a CD labelled 'HTC TyTN II Blackberry Connect / Blackberry Connect Desktop setup' if the files from that would be any use?
Thanks but no. Blackberry connect software is readily available from here as well as sems site.
What Sabian is trying to tell everyone is that there is no Blackberry Messenger in Blackberry Connect.
I'm not surprised pin messaging is not part of bbconnect since it is a compelling application for blackberry devices. Rim's stock price is doing well and they are selling tons of devices now. They have no incentive to cut into this by adding messenger functionality to blackberry connect or releasing their "virtual blackberry" vaporware.
However, there are two things that may make them reconsider and soon.
First, another massive network failure like the one last year will have a lot of folk wondering why they are paying premium prices for a service that can't guarantee 100% uptime and are less than open about admitting fault.
Second, is the 800lb gorilla that's coming this summer, the 3g iphone with Exchange sync capability. No use arguing pluses or minuses about it, a lot of execs and management will want to be able get their email on their new toy.
Rim needs to get their act in gear. They think they can answer this by coming out with their own iphone-like device. The real answer is full blackberry functionality in blackberry connect for pda phones including the iphone.
Don't know, I have seen the newly released specs on Iphone 2 and I am less than impressed...
No front video camera to any market...
Only 2Mpix rear camera still
No Copy & Paste
No memory upgrades possible still
No user changeable battery still
plastic case throughout instead of the steel back (though I was always a little concerned about using a steel back on a phone....)
Price has dropped, but it's not something I would go for in a phone. If they are targetting business users, something as fundamental as copy / paste would pretty much be an essential. It's like marketing a computer for the 21st century without a right click option... oh, wait...
(and yes, I know on the newer mighty mouse you do have right click capability, which is turned off by default)
Yeah if Pin to Pin worked perfectly on AT&T Tilt. I would add that data plan to my line. It's so much simpler like that and besides all my friends have blackberry. It would be cool to message them for free.
Iphone for Business!! Ha!! Ha!! Ha!!
Imagine typing up an email that has to go out on a emergency on the iPhone. The typos would be insane. You have to touch the screen all the time. It isn't practical. I still prefer the Qwerty Keyboard.
My next phone will either be the Touch Pro or the Xperia. Hopefully this site will add this phone even though it isn't made by HTC. It would suck to find another community like this.
BB connect feature for Non Blackberry Devices is 45.00 a month.
I pay 50 dollars a month for unlimited messaging and data on top of my 70 dollar voice plan. My monthly bill is 140.00-160.00. I only have one line. They should seriously drop the price down on these things. Sprint already let it be known that "Data, GPS, Messaging, Airtime doesn't cost a thing. That's why they have the 100 dollar everything plan. I would switch but then I remembered their service sucks.
I know it's off-topic but yeah.. had to vent.
Yes it is available. I use on mine. Just download BB client software from ATT website install it then call ATT and subscribe to BB plan. After call your company IT and let them set it up.
Can you explain better? I didn't find any BB client software on the ATT website. Please share the wealth. I need to get BB messenger by saturday because I am going to Beijing for the olympics and I don't want to pay 99 cent each text.
For the last time... THERE IS NO BLACKBERRY MESSENGER IN BBCONNECT.
It is available BB Client for Windows Mobile !!!
I couldn't attach this cab file for some reason but you can download "BBConnect_WM6_Professional_BB_41.0.0.84.cab" from here: http://rusyn.4shared.com
so did anyone figure out how to use blackberry messenger on the htc tilt?

Request: Thin Client for the TYTN II (think MSTSC or VNC)

I want to quickly thank the members of this forum for all the software devlopment and "how to"s they provide. Me and my AT&T Tilt thank you.
I've been looking for a thin client. If you are familiar with other programs like Microsoft Terminal Services Connection (MSTSC), VNC, or Citrix then you know what I'm taking about.
I've searched with several keywords nad it's the first thing I havn't been able to find here on xda-developers.
Stop reading here if you don't care why I'm asking for this.
I work for a small business and part of my responsibility is IT help desk. Recently I've started working on my degree and am out of the office every afternoon.
If I get a help desk call and am at home I started using VNC on my home PC to check out their desktop. This usually cuts my calls from half an hour to five minutes. Seeing as I'm not paid for time this is a good thing.
Soon I'll be spending much more time on campus. Actually, the main reason I bought this phone was so that I could support my office immediately while remaining mobile.
So, does anyone know of a good thin client I could use? Thanks in advace.

A bit of research shows that it should be part of WM 6 but I do not have it for some reason. I don't know what the local forum rules are so I'll err on the side of safety and just say searching google for "Window Mobile Remote Desktop Client" will quickly lead you to a solution for re-installing the application if you do not have it.
Thank you for the help.

Searching for applications

Hello. I have been searching the internet, without any luck though of finding the programs i want.
First, i want a program, like ShopSavvy is for the Android, where i can use it on my touch pro to scan barcodes of products and find the best price.
Second, i am wondering if there is a way to have Google Street View on the touch pro. I have already seen KDKobes Google Maps Street View 2.3.1, from our forum. I was wondering though if there is an "official" or "fully working" program, as in KDJobes program unfortunately, location-data support and GPS integration aren’t working with this version of Google Maps.
Third, i want a program, like I-phone has, for Drinks (bartender?), same cool skins and graphics environment maybe?
Fourth, again like I-phone has a program where you record a song on the phone and then it goes through the internet and finds you possible matches.
Please, bare with me, as i a m new and maybe i didn't have enough luck or "easiness" finding these type of programs i want. Yes maybe i saw some "looking like them but weren't afterwards the programs i wanted, cause their functionality wasn't after all what i was searching for and was mislead by their Title Name.
So if you please know any "freeware/ or have to buy" programs that are exaclty as the one's i have described please feel free to post and tell me.
Thank you very much in advance,
Chris
let's see
1. barcode readers:
i-nigma barcode reader
QuickMark 3.3
Aura - but donno if this still works.....
2. Street view is officially supported by the latest Google Maps

3. didn't heard of such a program for wm
4. i know a program it's called Music ID
hope that helps try to search harder next time
search diamond beer for a drink app that turns your phone into a glass of alcohol , if you mean a bartender then just do more searching also the site Fuzemobility.com is now your best friend go there all the time look at everything there . if you still haven changed ROMS on your phone i suggest you go get NRG's new winmo6.5 build 3.0 ROM . it has alot of improvements over the stock ROM , anymore questions just ask me
Is there an app that uses the GPS to track how much you've cycled and your speed etc? I think such apps exist for the iPhone but I'm looking for something for windows mobile.
gotta love fuzemobility lol

Where does everyone go to get there the PPC software?
I go to http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php, although its not complete list and new releaase of an application can take a couple of days to make it to thier site. I find the site easy to navigate and search. The catagories and rating system help for filtering.

i suggest watching this topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=496880&highlight=drinks
perhaps something will be done.

Android specific apps

Will only specific apps run on android? Its just my mate wants to get Freecaddie on his Hero, and I have it on my Touch HD. I have checked on the website but not sure whether to try and put the winmo cab on and run that or will it mess the phone up... any help greatly appreciated..
I'm not a programmer so I could be completely wrong, but I don't think that will work. That's like trying to run a Windows program on a Linux machine - unless the developers specifically made a Linux version it just won't work. Probably the best thing for your friend to do is look around on the market for that application or a similar one.
(And before a Linux defender comes to correct me - yes, I know you can get windows emulators that run in Linux, but I'm not aware of those existing for phones.)
Ia m may get flamed here, but i am sure , a windows moblie app will not run on a linux based os, unless some one has made W.I.N.E (linux geeks like myself will understand) for andriod then No sorry !!

It won't work. As another poster mentioned though, search the market. I've found apps to do most things (apart from a really good calendar app!!!)

If what you don't like with the HTC calendar is that it displays all events on the monthly view in exactly the same way, you can try the Pure Calendar widgets (dev's website here). The 'Grid' one displays a coloured bar at the top of each day in a monthly view, its length representing how long the appointment is and the colour which calendar it's part of. It loads data from Outlook and Google calendars without trouble. The dev also makes an agenda style widget, but I haven't used it. Unfortunately you have to pay about £1 for either.
Hi,
Thanks I'm already using Pure Calendar and have the Grid too. I agree it's the best available at the mo but having just moved over from WinMo I'm waiting for someone to release a major app like Pocket Informant. Unfortunately developers seem wary as they are not sure people will be willing to pay £20 for an Android app (although I would be if it's good enough!)
M
Cheers for the responses guys.. at least I know what to expect when i get my own hero... I keep looking but still not ready to make the jump, guess I am far to comfortable with the Winmo UI. But the gap is closing on the usability.. as long as i can import everything from outlook, and find a free golf program then i might make the jump sooner..
