Scroll lists - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

The Diamond (and WM 6.1) has this great feature of enabling to scroll lists (like Contacts, Programs etc.) with your finger.
However, more often than not while scrolling I press one of the elements, which can lead to various unpleasant results, including unwanted calls.
The question is, is there a hack which would "run" an element only after a double click? Resco explorer has this feature, and I never have any problems with it.
Thank you for your help.

Contacts
It scrolls way too fast in contacts too.

Up to now I get this problem mainly trying to add a new city for the weather.

Default WM6/6.1 contacts app

I was wondering is it possible to make default contact app more "Scrollable"?
Registry edit or something...?
I really do like regular contacts but even with touch flo on the Tilt they do not seem to be easily thumb scrollable.
I have set my device text to Largest and in contacts I use option to display contact name only so the fields are rather big, but still best scroll action is achieved using scroll wheel.
It would be nice to have it scroll smoother - ideally like iContact (and that thing is by far the best I used but it still needs some tweaks...)
I tried every single 3rd party app for contact management that I read about here on the forum, and eventhough they offer more visualy pleasing experience they are very slow in execution and free ones like PCM contacts and iContact are somewhat buggy.
Download HTC Random Access
I used that too however alphabet sidebar is very small (actually it is not much bigger then regular scrollbar) and somewhat picky about letter selection...
Very good idea but with maybe slightly larger alphabet bar...
Try out Spb mobile shell, their contacts are way better than MS built in contacts.m6
Hate to use 3. party apps, as the phone slows down, but untill WM6.1 is ready from HTC for my danish TyTN II they have to make do
Finger Friendly Friends
Try Finger Friendly Friends...here take a look here: http://www.jotto.no/fff/
Search my friend
search for icontacts
if you couldn't find it tell me to upload it for u
PocketCM, highly skinnable with touch/rolling gestures, is the best for me...
PocketCM
Hello,
I installed iContact but it's not the default contacts application.
Is there a key to set it as default?

Closing programs vs. minimizing

Tried searching for this but I can't figure out what to search for to get the results I want. Is there a way to alter your settings so that clicking the X in the upper right corner of a program closes it instead of minimizing it? Going through the Task Manager every time is a huge pain. I think there may be an option under the X menu on the home screen, but the ROM I'm using removed that X, so...help? I'm positive this has been asked before but I can't seem to find it anywhere (especially since "x" gets filtered out of searches).
Take a look at the HTC Task Manager, it has that option
Tap and hold down should close the app. I find this sometimes isn't reliable though - especially with WM Mediaplayer and on some occasions it only minimises the app. On other situations holding down the 'x' wont do anything and it has to be released in order to minimise the app. This is with the stock HTC WM 6.1 ROM listed in my sig.
Yep, that worked I think the ROM I downloaded didn't have HTC TM, so installing that let me do exactly what I wanted.
Use wktask, best "x" program
I prefer Quickmenu to wktask. It is one of my favourite apps and it gives you a Windows desktop type cascading menu, allows you to switch bluetooth etc etc etc lots of features and it's free.

Wild contacts scrolling?

I've done a search but I'm not quite sure what to call the problem, so if I missed a thread please link me
The problem is, when I scroll contacts, I brush my finger downwards, and the contacts fly past, and fly past, and fly past until it reaches the last contact.
Its really hard to stop it where you want it to stop, since it just whizzes past in a blur.
'All programs' used to do the same, but "Boinger66 diamond advanced config v .51.cab (95.3 KB, 3541 views)" solved the problem on for programs.
Anyone got any suggestions, is this a common problem with a simple fix?
Using a stock UK 1.37 ROM from orange.
thanks
simple fix: dont use contacts lol
What you should do is use the smart dialing feature, where you go to 'phone' and then dial in your contacts name on the keypad (a bit like T9 texting on a classic phone keypad) as your typing in the name it will show the top 2 matched contacts in real time at the top of the screen, when you find the one you want, press the call button
also set up the people tab for frequent text messaging contacts.
Thats a good tip, thanks
I kept on digging and found this as well:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=406206&highlight=contacts+scroll
So if anyone finds this thread with the same problem, the above link will show you how to set up your circle 'zoom' wheel as a scroll wheel that works in contacts, it makes life soooo much easier <3

Stylus drag-scrolling WM6.1

I encountered a problem with my HTC Tilt today. I was playing around deciding if I like it more with or without touchflo running, and later in the day I installed that Task Manager 3.1 program (which seems very handy BTW) and that is when I noticed that when I am in the "programs" or "settings" windows, the way to scroll by dragging the screen has changed. Before, I would just click anywhere and drag with the stylus and it would scroll. Now, I have to like tap and drag it, and it'll continue scrolling non-stop until I tap on the screen again. The same thing happens in internet explorer. Other programs such as Opera browser is unaffected.
The interesting thing is that drag-scrolling with my finger has improved dramatically, and works great, but not with the stylus.
Can anyone help me get it back to the way it was before?
I'm a bit noobie to these gadgets, but I'll catch on.
edit: the scrolling with the stylus works fine if you drag the scroll bar.
This phone is awesome, but the one complaint I do have is that the phone speaker volume isn't very loud... it needs more ooomph.

i'm not certain if the installation of Task Manager 3.1 would have had adverse affects on the way that drag scrolling works...
for starters, you should know that some applications like opera mobile 8.65 and opera mobile 9.5 betas as well as resco explorer and lots more applications implement THEIR OWN drag scrolling logic.
next, you should know that HTC's touchflo, from the day it was introduced (with the HTC Touch) all the way up to the latest incarnations of TF2D (manila2d) and TF3D, is capable of "hooking" in to the Windows Mobile interface elements (scroll areas, etc) to provide drag scrolling behavior. however, it is nowhere near as good as the custom drag scrolling logic implemented in the applications mentioned in the previous paragraph.
finally, you should know that if you have TF2D (manila2d), there are TWO ways to get to your Programs window. Start->Programs will launch the Windows Mobile native program browser (where the cumbersome "hooked" touchflo behavior works) while launching the Programs listing by pressing the "All Programs" softkey from the Programs Tab will launch a custom program browser that looks and feels EXACTLY like the native Windows Mobile program browser. In the latter case, you will notice much much better drag scrolling.
i think the HTC uses the same approach as mentioned above for the Settings window.
make sure you are not getting confused by the above mentioned differences in your debugging and assessments.
another thing to check would be whether or not you altered the touchflo sensitivity parameters (try KaiserTweak to mess with those settings).

Handnotes on X1: S.O.S!

I have been addicted to Handnotes; the ultimate handwriting note organizer tool with great built-in Outlook-like scheduling capabilities, but recently moved from my good old Jam to my dream gadget: the X1, which apparently didn't get along with my favorite app. ((
Symptoms:
writing by the stylus doesn't start immediately; one has to tap and hold for a while (approx. 2 sec) until it starts "inking", after that and so long as u keep holding the stylus you can continue drawing lines as normal, once you remove it you have to wait again, which makes dotting your words for instance unbearable.
I suspected that it had to do with the touch scrolling properties so I tested a few things like changing delay time or even deactivating scroll but in vein, if this is the real cause then disabling it for Handnotes only would be the perfect solution.
Great minds over there any bright ideas?
Use a task manager to disable background applications, such as touch apps. If it works when those are disabled, you could create a mortscript to enable/disable them.
Thanks pal for the instant response I disabled one process that I found related to scrolling but unfortunately this doesn't help the problem persists no matter what (
Please could anyone try out the software and tell me what's wrong?
It's Handnotes 3.6.1 (and all releases) from Choung Networks.
Appreciation in advance
