most of them i want, but i think it also loads rss explorer.
is there somewhere i can check for startup items?
it is not in windows-startup.
also what kind of tweaks are you using to speed up the startup of your diamond?

Where is the xml located in the main memory of the phone? I came from a Dash and the home screen is usually edit through the Home folder but that isn't so it seems in the WM pro OS. Can anyone point me to the right direction?
More Info Please !
Phone / Rom etc.
If you mean the BS .xml :
Windows -> BatteryStatus
There you find default.xml
Sorry, I'm talking about the actual Today screen and not the programs. I want to edit my own font size, plugins, and etc via the xml. I'm using Tran's Open Touch 5.0UL . For example, I came from using the Dash which runs on Windows Mobile standard. In order to pick out what home screen I wanted, I had to go install the theme in a folder called Home. It runs the theme via xml and if any configuration needed to be changed, that would be the file I go to depending on what theme it is.
I've been trying to find the same thing for days and days myself. I'm used to editing the home.xml file (in\Application Data\Home) on my StrTrk smartphone. Now I've got a brand-new Tilt, and can't figure out how WM6 on the PPC handles the Today screen. I have a much longer version of this question on MoDaCo; 200+ views since yesterday, but no replies.
I've tried 3rd party software to make different Today screens (Wisbar & WAD), but it just slows down the PPC.
Please -- anyone who can tell us the name of the Today screen's file is a hero.
WM6 Pro is a totally different animal.
No xml files to edit unless you use a 3rd party Today Plugin.
To enable/disable today plugins goto:
Start - Settings - Personal - Today -Items
It is a simple checkbox.
If you want to do some custom xml Today screens check out rlToday. Freeware and the capabilities are good enough.
Note: To uninstall permanently any of the plugins check out Today Plugin Uninstaller. Removing the unused plugins will speed up the portrait to landscape redraw time significantly.
Thanks for the hints. But... I'm well aware of how to disable/enable plugins, and I'm trying to do things the hard way; without using plugins.
All I want to know is how the default Today screen gets generated on the PPC. WM6 is very similar to WM5 on the Smartphone, so it looks as if the difference is the PPC.
The black/scrambled icons are caused by a bug in TF3D that affects the icons when first loading them into memory. If they are rendered before TF3D loads, they render fine. So, depending on how often you reset your device, this may be a workable workaround for some of you. I have found that if you run an app in your startup folder (I run Salling Clicker, but I doubt that it matters what app), then the application will launch on Windows Startup and you won't be taken to the Today screen, meaning the TF3D app won't launch. Before going to the Today screen (and thus launch TF3D), first go to your Programs folder (Start - Programs), and be sure to click on any sub-folders, just to make sure you load all icons. Then you can go to your Today screen, let TF3D load, and your icons will all look fine until your next reboot. It isn't perfect, but it is a quick and dirty workaround that does seem to work - for me anyway.
yea, another way is also to switch off Touch FLo 3D from your today items. Soft reset, Load all icons, switch on Touch Flo 3D.
I guess it is a timing thing. For me, it is faster to just go to Start-Programs, as I want Salling Clicker to run on startup all the time anyway. It would be a waste of time to turn of TF3D every time I reboot...
I am a pharmacist so....
I just load my favorite pharmacy program and your right they do work - but I organize all my icons...I have games, medical, pharmacy, system and utilites folders where I keep all my icons....the funny thing is I have to actually start the diamond with the pharmacy program in the startup folder then I have to actually open all folders and look at the perfect icons then I can start tf3d and all is good.....
BUT if I do not open every folder and I do have sub folders then the icons are all screwed up again....what i am saying if i just startup regularly and the pharmacy progy starts then I close the program and tf3d starts up if I did not open the folders and actually see the icons are normal they will still be screwed up....go f))king figure this one out.....
Hi everyone,
Couldn't find this searching:
Is there a RUN entry in the registry that loads programs on startup, like XP?
Or: how do programs get loaded on startup (besides Autostart).
Thanks.
NM
Please have a look:
HKLM/Init
I don't know if there are hooks in the registry that can be used for this, but I do know there's a folder in the Windows folder called StartUp and anything placed in there will run when the device boots up.
Worldmate autolaunch on my Diamond
Hi,
I installed Worldmate from mobimate on my Diamond and the thing always randomly autostarts somehow and I have tried several times to see how to stop this. There is no option to disable it from teh application itself, so was wondering if anyone else has any idea of how to disable this auto start feature?
The autostart is annoying with this app, as it slow down the phone considerably when running.
Many thanks!
Hi,
I have a wiered problem!
I copied my opera6.adr file from my Diamond 1 over to Diamond 2 in Windows/Opera9 folder but each time I start Opera application, the file gets overwritten.
It seems that I can't manually change the file, it kinda check it md5 checksum or something and reset the file to its original? Could that be the case?
Anybody has the same problem?
Yeah, I have a similar problem, but I'm trying to copy from Opera Desktop to mobile, I've tried every which way I can think of, but each time it reverts back to the previous file and previous (not stock original, but my edited) bookmarks.
I thought it might have something to do with either Opera staying resident in memory or the files not being compatiable.
Anyone had any sucess on the TD2 ??
fixed!
Found a solution
Actually Opera is running the background somehow "always"
Use TaskManager to kill the process and then copy your opera6.adr to Windows/Opera9.
DONE!
Let me know if it works for you also.
OMG it works...
I ended the opera.exe using the CleanRam program, as opera does not show up in the standard task manager, then copied the opera6.adr file to Windows/opera and it works... ...well nearly...
I had to edit my PC version adr file to match the mobile version, they are different:

As you can see the mobile version has more = and the other info is different.
Before I altered it I was getting double folders appearing in the TD2, but after I edited the bookmarks in Word, using Find & Replace to add the extra = to all the = (then remove the extra = from the very top lines (Options))
Great I now have all my bookmarks, what a to do though.
good
Well, I didn't mean the buildt-in task manager! I mean Task Manager from FdcSoft which you can use to see all running processes etc..
But anyhow, great it works for you now
So many Task Managers !!!
Do you have an problem if you select Bookmarks from Touchflo itself rather than from inside Opera, if I click the Bookmarks softkey it locks up Touchflo (and most of the rest of the device)???
It might have something to do with the amount of bookmarks I've got!
Also, although I don't think this problem is related, the other softkey 'Menu' doesn't do anything when clicked, just highlights and thats it, very odd.
dont know
well, actually I dont use Touchflo as I like to see lots of things at once I use windows today plugins to see everything in one screen
Hi
My phone takes like 3 minutes to be able to be used when starting it.
I know and think there are some autostart applications during bootup.
Where can I modify the startup applications?
I already checked Windows\Autostart but I can't find the applications I know should be there.
TomTom has something at bootup but there's nothing in Windows\Autostart
Is there any registry items I can check?

Click to collapse
Windows\Startup
That folder is empty...
No registry entries?
Ofcourse it takes some time to load everything (TF3D for example) before you can start use the phone without serious lag. It's not a computer with 3ghz processor you know. Try install Advanced Taskmanager and kill some processes.
Ofcourse i'm aware of that. But TomTom loads at startup and has an icon just under the startmenu. Things like that I want to remove from startup...
Try sk tools
it has an option for startup programs...
