Problem with email - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hi all,
Seem to be having a problem connecting to my gmail account on my diamond. Last night i downloaded the tmobile cab which has the internet and mms settings...the internet works perfectly well and same with mms but when i go to send/receive on my gmail account...it says error synching. When i set up my gmail account, the diamond came up with a message that said gmail settings found, press yes to confirm...which i did.
But since last night i havent been able to connect to my gmail account. So does anyone have any ideas or shed any light as to why i cannot connect to my mailbox??. I cant see any options within the email app that would allow me to change the settings ie ie outgoing.incoming server as i think thats where the problem lies.
Thanks

Hmm no one??...really starting to annoy me this problem...cant see why i cant connect to my inbox. Keeps coming up with the error that it cannot connect with my current settings and when i go into my settings for connections...i cant see how to change anything ie outgoing/incoming servers or password etc.
Can anyone shed some light on this??...ive tried deleting and making a new gmail account but still doesnt work

Hey I tell you what: I've tried this b4 but don't worry, it can be fix!
First> Connect your diamond to the pc and sync with the active sync> through pc to connect to the internet and check your email again in your diamond> if this work, login in to your gmail account with your pc....
Second> Go to your gmail account option> check the pop3 setting> disable the IMAP support> save setting> Done
Disconnect your diamond and pc, then check your gmail account in your diamond. Should be no problem at all!! Can send and receive perfectly!!
I have this b4 and I fix this myself like this, don't know can it be fix about yours, good luck man~~

Thanks but ive disabled imap through my gmail account and it still doesnt work.
I have a feeling that its soemthing to do with the proxy in my internet settings but the stupid thing wont let me disable the proxy for some odd reason...i untick the box and press ok but when i go back into it...it re-enables it

Go thriugh the settings and were it says connect to internet select Tnobile Internet.. That will sort it.
1) Go to Messaging Application
2) Select Menu - Options
3) Click on googlemail account
4) You will have three options pick Edit account set up
5) Go through set up till you get to the out going (smtp) mail server page
6) click on advance settings at the bottom of the screen
7)At the bottom in Network selection radio buttone select T-Mobile Internet from the drop down menu
This should work . I have the same problem as well and I cant get an internet conection through Activsync for some unknow reason.

Hmmm ok ill give that a try and report back...if worse comes to worse im going to hard reset the diamond and set up the internet, mms and email accounts separately.

Nope Wardy tried what you asked and still no go...i think its that stupid bloody proxy that keeps re-enabling itself everytime i disable it and press ok...it just wont connect using the setting is what the message keeps saying.
Think im going to have to set it all up manually and see if that works...i have a funny feeling it might work.

Finally got it working lol...sadly i had to do a hard reset and wipe the internal storage clean...means i lose all my tweaks but ill re-do them.
Ended up having to set up both my Tmobile Internet and MMS settings manually as the cab file kept putting in a proxy when i didnt need it ei to connect to my gmail account.
Anyways set up the accounts and it works like a dream.

Hmm the connection settings are completly messed up on this phone.
When you delete a connection its gone from the list, but its still there (you cant create a new one with the same name, and advanced config shows it as there).
You can't edit the proxy or any settings on the advanced tab once you created the connection. Anoying as hell. I'm going to try to fix this with the registry

Yeah i noticed that...before i did the hard reset...i thought id just delete the internet connection...deleted it and re-did a new one but all the settings from the previous one were still there ie the proxy was ticked with the ip number. So i tried re-connecting with my gmail inbox and it kept saying the same error as above...so in the end i got fed up and just hard reset the phone. Took me about 30 mins to get it set up the way i had it before with the tweaks...made a new internet and mms connection and everything seems fine now...can synch with my gmail quite easily now.
If you do manage to figure it out...please let me/us know...then i can edit the registry and try again with the tmobile cab file.

The settings are in:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA..\Connections
The proxy is in:
HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{NULL-HTTP-{FF445A54-ADF8-4fa...\

Hmm tha t-mobile cab file is creating a bunch of unnecessary keys. I think its a bad idea to use it - i think thats whats breaking everything.
I think its better to set things up manually...
Go to setting-allsettings-connections-connections.. create a new connection for the internet, eg T-Mobile Internet
APN: general.t-mobile.uk
Username: user
password: wap
For MMS, go to messages - > all messages -> menu -> MMS options -> Servers
Create a new settings here:
gateway 149.254.201.135
port number 8080
server address: http://mmsc.t-mobile.co.uk:8002
Connect via: <the GPRS connection name you setup above eg. T-Mobile Internet>
Sendlimit: 300k
WAP version: wap 2.0
Here's the xml from the cab file:

Yup i had a feeling that the tmobile cab messes something up so in the end i set up both internet/mms manually. Once i did that, i have no problems connecting to my email inbox.
I would suggest anyone who uses tmobile as their provider, not to use that cab file...it will work for internet/mms but not if you want to connect to your email. It also gives me problems using msn messenger as well....cant connect to msn.

Um...
I presume this is the same CAB I have been using but in another post on Kasier (i think) there was all the UK network CAB files in 1 post, anyway, I do not have the email issue. both push and polling work fine.

This worked for the GMAIL access with that CAB.
Strange as My Orange one would not work wothout change that setting in 7), although my work pop mail works OK.
Anyway glad you got it sorted...

Invisible "MY ISP GPRS" - Any Ideas

Greets,
It seems a number of programs, including GPSTest and XM Radio, try "MY ISP GRPS" instead of MEdiaNet. However, the ROM I am using does not show "MY ISP GPRS" and it is misconfigured.
When I go to the Connection Setup and try to add "MY ISP GPRS" it refuses, saying that it already exists. However, only MEdia Net can be seen.
Does anyone know either (i) how to make the invisible MY ISP GPRS visible so that it can be properly configured or (ii) how to delete MY ISP GPRS when it is not shown on the connection manager.
Thanks!
*Thread moved*
Not ROM development related.

Start --> Settings --> Connections --> Connections --> Advanced --> Select Networks --> Change both to read "MEdia Net" --> OK --> OK --> Restart device.
All connections to the internet should now go through MEdia Net.

is anyone still having problems setting up their exchange mail on the htc mail client?
i just figured out to successfully set up mine..

yep i have... I am assuming that my exchange serve does not allow non-provisional devices.
yeah same problem with me...but i found a way around it
you have to go to your outlook and in the connection settings, enable outlook anywhere
i'll tell you step by step but the site does it better..
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP101024441033.aspx
once your done, put the domain in your phone (the https site without the https)
let me know if that works

Thanks for the instructions. However I tried the method in the website, but still din work for me.
can you tell me you settings?
email: [email protected]
server address: xxxmail.com

At my outlook:
connection tab -> selected "Exchange over the Internet"
Under connection settings: Use this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange -> "https://xxxmail.com"
Proxy authentication settings -> NTLM Authntication
for the url, if the https:// is already written on the side you do not need to re-write it again...
then u tick the use SSL box, then tick the box under that and write "msstd:xxxmail.com"

I use a free "backup tool", named Sashimi. Different to backup tools like SPB Backup (which I use in addition for real backups) this one is selectiv installing only what you want. It is perfect to reinstall progs and settings without the problem of overwriting registry settings which might make problems with a new ROM.
I set it up to automatically
set my backlight settings,
reinstall owner information
reinstall network connection settings
reinstall my mailboxes (for the mails itself I still need SPB Backup)
reinstall the registry settings for the programs I have installed on the SD-card, so I do not need to reinstall them
...
wow , thank for your quick reply guys.
i will try it out and let you know the results.

Within Sashimi, there is a tool called Makisu. You setup your email settings one time with this tool and it creates the settings as an XML file that Sashimi uses to create the email account.
Check the manuals coming with Sashimi. There is one manual for Sashimi and one for Makisu.
sashimi is good but very complex.
i use it only to autoinstall cab & reg files,
for emails you need to know all email settings & set them manually which i dont know like pop/imap servers & stuff...
for wifi also need to know all wifi settings & set them manually...
can this be done automatic somehow? app that just saves existing email & wifi settings/

This is the XML file that Makisu generated. Maybe you can edit it manually with your setting. But if you use Makisu, setup your email account with Makisu, it will generate this XML for you and you can restore your email settings automatically after every new ROM flashed.

Critical is <parm name="CONNECTIONID" value="{436EF144-B4FB-4863-A041-8F905A62C572}" /> because it links to the internet connection that the email account use to connect. Maybe you cannot setup this manually.
Is it possible to also put settings for Hotmail in the XML file? It isn't pop3, imap or exchange/activesync.

exchange server

hi guys. i have a problem with sync with exchange server- on some roms i can sync, on some i can't. it's surely matter of certificates. is there a way to export certificates from one rom, and import them to another?
thanks in advance
Moved as not ROM Development
www.seven.com This is what I use for work. its pretty good and free.
Make sure proxy is disabled; if it is enabled, exchange does not work for me either, and on some Roms it is automatically on. Start --> Settings --> Connections tab --> connections --> Advances tab --> Select networks --> Edit (under the top drop down box) -->Proxy Settings tab --> uncheck "This network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet
It may not work, but hey, it's worth a try.

GPRS issue after soft reset

I have data plan with ATT and when ever I soft rest my phone then after I can not connect to Internet using medianet.
I have to use Macodo nodata to to enable medianet connection or using mortscript I change registry and then try to get connected with medianet.
DO any one own which program fip registry back to disable?
Once registry changed it work till next soft reset.
in my startup i hae sddaemom.lnk, delWMPTempFolder.lnk, HTCSTartup.lnk, PKG.lnk, poutlook.lnk, LockDevice.lnk pahost.lnk fieldgchgs.lnk
Reg key i am changing is RegWriteDWord( "HKLM", "Comm\ConnMgr\Providers\{7C4B7A38-5FF7-4bc1-80F6-5DA7870BB1AA}\Connections\MEdia Net", "Enabled",1 )
Have you tried just setting them in your connection setttings?
Going to Settings\Connections\Connections\Advanced\Select Netowrks and set both boxes to MediaNet.
You might want to also check your poutlook settings and make sure its set to "Connects to Internet"
Thank you advance seting worked but How to Check poutlook settings???

then softresetting and after rest I was online
Went to wheather tab and it downloaded info
Disconnected medianet and then went to stock page it Autometically reconnected and downloaded.
SO Thank you Thank you Thank you
But can you please tell How to Check poutlook settings? I do not know how to check.
once again thanks for helping
Another question is there any way I back up Settings\Connections\Connections\Advanced\Select Netowrks setting?
Awesome, glad it worked.
For poutlook, I'm not 100% this will be there unless you are using an exchange server (I run gmail as an exchange server using m.google.com as the server address) but go you your Inbox\Menu\Tools\Options, select your e-mail account, go to Menu\Advanced and the last box should be set to Connection: Internet.
I'm not sure where that registry key is but I would assume its somewhere in HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\
