Not saving keyboard layout - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Just did hard reset.
No progs installed.
ROM: 1.35.404.4 NLD
Every time i try to change the keyboard layout from "Compact Qwerty" (default setting) to "normal phone keyboard", the device ignores my choice and sets it back to default.
Tried soft reset just after change and it didn't solve it.
I would like to avoid hard reset because i just did a hard reset and it was after this hard reset that i couldn't change the keyboard layout anymore.
I have used the search function without succes.
Also yesterday (before hard resetting my diamond) my clock on the today screen changed (at 4:32) from the big standard touch flo clock to digital clock much smaller.
Anyone an idea how this is possible.

ow i feel stupid now.
seems like you have to set it first in touch flo keyboard.

i have the same problem. but in touchflow3d i´m not able to choose a keyboard layout. only in the personal setting - but every time it swith back to compact layout....

Oh man,
I only have to use the F3D Keyboard by pressing long on the Keyboard-Icom. Than i able to choose a layout. The setting in the windows-setting has not effect.
now it´s works well.

Question about the hardware buttons

Hi everyone,
I was wondering... is it possible to change the hardware buttons permanently? I mean, if I do a soft reset, the button are mapped back to their original settings. Do I have to modify the registry and how?
I would prefer a solution that does not require software if possible.
Thx !!
hahahaha, it's all software. Even the OS!
Maybe I wasn't clear...
I mean "I prefer a solution that does not require additional software". Is there a setting in the OS (maybe a registry hack) to change the buttons mapping?
hi atzakas,
after softreset buttons should not be mapped back, they should be as you mapped them in Settings.
They are mapped back if you do hard-reset, but that is understandible, you can't hack it.
you can also check this app with 40 additional commands for hardware buttons:
http://handster.com/product.php?id=6
there you can map to buttons things like: switch programs (Alt-Tab), backlight loop, new task, new appointment, etc
Regards,
Victor
Thanks for the reply, but I wouldn't have asked if it was so simple.
I change the button settings, then do a soft reset and the settings are back to the original settings.
I guess I'll have to live with that
i experienced the same problem with an O2 XDA IIi, however, this is cured misteriously recently

[Q] Automatic Keyboard Switching Between Portrait and Landscape

I've set my Touch Diamond up with the Landscape Manila mod and have installed Flip IT (also tried Gyrator, only Flip IT triggered Landscape Manila) - both work as expected, giving me a nice landscape Today screen and rotating other applications as desired.
One big issue I've hit, though, is that on rotation from portrait to landscape, the keyboard breaks and has to be changed. By default, I use the Compact QWERTY keyboard as I prefer it in portrait mode, but when in landscape mode I would like to (and am forced to anyway) use the Full QWERTY keyboard.
Is there a way to set the keyboard to Full QWERTY when the device goes into landscape mode and Compact QWERTY when it goes into portrait mode? I had no luck with searching the entire Diamond forum.
Thanks,
Nick
P.S. For reference, I'm running A.Z.T.O.R. V7 WWE ROM.
Although it's developed for other purposes, PQzII works very well.
Thanks for the tip Obsidian, but I'm not sure I understand how this will fix the issue. It sounds like you've got it working as desired, can you give me any tips on how to set it up properly for the purpose described above?
Thanks,
Nick
It works pretty much as it is described here:
After you start the programm you see a white square in your taskbar
If you press and hold it, you'll be able to configure the settings (which icon to use and many more)
Right on the first tab "CTRL/ALT" you'll be able to choose a SIP for portrait (Port) and another one for landscape (Land)
Hit ok and you're done. The change takes a little time, so be patient.
Ah, I see, so it's still a manual solution. As it stands right now, I can use the keyboard softkey to switch successfully.
Mainly, I'm looking for a way to have the keyboards seamlessly switch when the mode changes, like on the iPhone. I wouldn't mind so much about switching actual keyboards (i.e. Compact QWERTY to Full QWERTY) physically if they would just remain displayed after the switch; right now, on switching modes, the keyboard disappears completely.
Any other ideas out there?
Thanks,
Nick
I would also like this feature as I am used to typing in the Compact Qwerty, when I switch to landscape the Compact Qwerty option disappears. Perhaps there is a registry tweak to enable it?

Keyboard Issues

The Phone Keypad, Compact QWERTY and Full QWERTY on my phone are all stuck in numeric entry mode. When I tap the button to switch them back nothing happens at all.
Does anybody know how to fix this? Is there a registry value that I could alter to get it back into letters?
Thanks
tried a soft reset?
other than that, u could try installing the .cab for the keyboard, search should find it.

Thank U very much !!!
I had the same problem, after trying Diamond Tweak.
Somehow i got a tiny (blue) keyboard at the bottom of the screen and didn't know how to get back to the bigger keybord.
Thanks again !!!
Thanks, this helped me also!!!

space bar lag & large soft button menus

Ive noticed an incredably annoying problem on my latest 6.1 ROM. When I am typing on the hard keyboard my sentanceso ftenc omeo utl iket his! Due to a delay in a space being inserted after hitting the space bar. I think I have read this is a common problem on some ROMs. Is there a solution? I have disabled the word suggestion and auto correction features.
Lastly, how do you revert to standard sized menus? My latest ROM shows soft button menus full screen and I really dont like this.
I hope someone out there knows of some cabs that may help.
Thanks guys.
For the keyboard speed up solution, it's one of the stickies at the top of the Kaiser Software forum, here. As for the large menus, you must get some kind of registry editor, and change "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE\Menu\CUIHandler"
to DWORD "0", this worked perfectly on my old ROM.

Thanks Dave1. Much appreciated mate.
