HI ALL,
risidoro is back!
EDIT: VERSION 11.1.7.1023 IS NO MORE THE LATEST ONE. I'VE PUBLISHED THE MOST UPDATED VERSION (.1034) HERE. PLS USE THAT ONE AND DO NOT CONSIDER ANY MORE THE POST BELOW!!!
I'm here to release a New and Improved version of the great:
Intent MIDlet Manager version 11.1.7.1023
This new MIDlet Manager comes from the new HTC Herald ROM, version 1.2.405
This new version is JTWI 1.0 compliant and SUPPORTS Google's SATELLITE Maps (of course, you need to download Google Maps' client from www.google.com/gmm).
This release also supports sending SMSs from Opera Mini 3.0 (mini.opera.com)!!!
Some Details about the program:
Developer: Intent
Name: MIDlet Manager
Version: 11.1.7.1023
Build: 20060907
JWTI v.1.0 Compliance!
------- HOW TO INSTALL ------------
- Download Risidoro's Intent MIDlet Manager version 11.1.7.1023
- extract the cab (inside the archive) somewhere in your PC (e.g. Desktop)
- copy to somewhere in your PocketPC (e.g. \storage card)
- in your PocketPC, navigate with File Manager to the cab and tap on it to install
- when asked, choose to install in the Device (and NOT in Storage Card!)
- reboot when asked
PS: It can be installed over previous version (or in roms where the old midlet is included)!
-------- WORKING MIDLETS ---------------
So far, i've only tested it with the midlets i use the most.
- Google Maps runs fine. Satellite maps are supported!!!
- Opera Mini 3.0 runs OK too and supports SMS sending. Even softkeys works! Photo blog feature, however, is not supported
- Mobile GMaps, beta 1.30.08. Simply wonderful. Sat images for google and yahoo maps.
- MobileMule (latest beta) works ok.
-------- PROBLEMS SO FAR (and possible solutions) ---------------
- a user wasn't able to use this version to connect to the Internet through a proxy
---> use a direct connection to the Internet; check your proxy; downgrade to the old MIDlet manager version.
- the cab cannot be installed due to a security warning
---> soft-reset and retry; use MS Certificate Powertoy for Windows Mobile 5 to disable all the security checks
- If you want to revert back to the old version of the Intent MIDlet manager:
Download the Intent MIDlet manager version 10.1.7.551
Bye bye
ENJOY
Great job as always risidoro!
Thanks!
Thanks...will install shortly.
Kirby
Sweet, thanks! I was just lamenting this problem a couple of days ago.
Great work! Thanks a lot!
Thanks for the file. I'll give it a try later.
Thanks!
As always, you rock!
Great work and thanks a lot
Thanks for the file, Risidoro. I have downloaded it, and will try it later. Good to have a better midlet manager.
For those concerned with using gmaps on their phone, however, there are a couple free native Windows Moble programs which will display such maps. I find them much more convenient than using a Java midlet, no matter how good the midlet manager might be.
One such program is called Map4PDA, another one is Virtual Earth Mobile. And there is also Microsoft's new beta "Live Search". There may be more, these three come to mind right away. (I don't have the URLs handy. You can find them with a search.)
There is also another Java midlet map program called MGMAPS, which I find more flexible than Google's GMAPS. (It will show the Google maps, or the Microsoft maps, or Yahoo maps, and has other more flexible features.) However, I still find it much simpler to use a Windows Mobile app, rather than a Java midlet.
why use the google one? dny238 found an app that is free and blows the google maps out of the water.
http://wls.live.com
will even allow you to use your gps reciever with it and update the image as your driving.. just my .02 cents
and if i could learn to read it looks like "me" mentioned this one above

I prefer native applications too (although i couldn't live without Opera Mini) but microsoft's maps haven't a good satellite coverage in italy compared to google maps so i don't like MSN virtual earth or Live search very much. I didn't know Map4PDA and i'm going to install it very soon, i hope it supports google sat maps!
Thanks for the suggestions. Let me know if you remember some other google maps compatible native software.
Bye

I can read and yes, i know MS's Live search; however, as i said, MSN satellite maps are not much detailed outside US, especially in Italy.
With Google sat maps i can zoom over my house until i can even see my car parked in front of it! With MSN sat maps i can only see all my town, when i try to zoom more i see a message informing the area is not mapped.
BTW, i've just tried map4pda and i've found it slower than mgmaps (a midlet). Map4pda is a .Net 2 application so it's not a real 'native' application, its code is managed (or runtime) exactly like any java applet.
I'll stick with mgmaps until i find a real, compiled, ppc application.
Anyway, if you believe in the newer-is-better paradigm like me (*), you will want to update your midlet manager with the newer version i posted. Just my two cents.
(*) the paradigm doesn't apply to MS's latest OS. IMHO, XP (or 2003 server) is ways better than Vista!

i guess i sometimes forget that not everywhere is covered as detailed as the US..
anyway, im getting ready to try this on my 8525/hermes and will let you know if it works on it!
**EDIT**
works great on the hermes, and im lazy and posted this copy/paste on the hermes board, and gave you the proper credit for the work!
thanks but I wasn't able to complete the install of the new MM on my MDA Vario II (Hermes) due to some "security warnings". after going back to some previous midlet manager (v10.1.7.551) I ALWAYS get an error message (sth like "midlet won't run") if I try to run ANY java midlet (jar or jad). any ideas on how to solve this?
Problem report ...........

FWIW, the Map4PDA works well with a bluetooth GPS receiver and Faria's 12mb AKU3.2 ROM RC1. (I overclock and plug in the charger and the phone/map/GPS plotting zips along).

I tried installing this version yesterday, but found I cannot connect via a proxy on my tzones setup. I uninstalled and put the version I pulled from X's extended ROM and it worked fine. Not sure if anyone is interested, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
All credits go to original creators, I did not create any of these cabs, instead this is basically a mirror archive for all the cabs I've downloaded any feel may help new users. If anyone has issues with me posting it, feel free to contact me and I'll remove it asap.
All of these are the programs I install after flashing to a new ROM which are all WM 6.1 ROMS. Not tested on other versions.
I'll try and update as much as possible. Feel free to also PM me any suggestions/uploads you would like and I'll try my best to fulfill your requests(Y).

hi, I have an HTC Fuze and I'd like to add useful applications to it. What's a good task manager? Are there any free/fun games for the Fuze out there? What applications do you find useful?
I currently have TF3D, Diamond Tweak, HTorch 3.2 and Tipster.
I'm fairly new at WM 6.1 so any assistance would be appreciated.
Unfortunately my crystal ball is currently in repair, could you be a bit more specific?
You could start with reading, or use the search option.
(I don't know what you find useful or like so no suggestions)
I'd like to know what kind of applications people have on their devices. I suppose I'd Like a better task program, free games. I'm not sure which programs are useful, but could you tell me what programs you are currently running?
So far I have added Google Maps (great app for navigating and very accurate gps) and I am planning on MS Outlook for mobile as the phones built in mail program is having issues with government mail servers ( i cant send new mail).
I am also working on software to use gps to track my distance and time when I go running.
for podcasts and rss, viigo
i would recommend dashwire if you're into mobile backup and such
PANDORA free definitely (resolution is a bit funky)
tickertape for stocks
diamondcubes
pedometer on occasion
total commander for registry tweaks or just a far better alt. to file exp.
stopwatch
lightsaber
gyrator 2 for full acce. function.
lumos for better backlight manage
skyfire for faster browsing
weather database editor for more cities
herg62123 for different clocks, sliders, and a landscape tf3d
his slide to answer port from blackstone.
that's about all the helpful things i can think of. hope this helps.
Do you need GPS for google maps to use it? Where can I download google maps for my Fuze? It seems that my Fuze is a bit a sluggish, how can I up the speed for TF3D? I already have Diamond Tweak and TF 3d Config.

the best way to really wake up your Fuze is to flash with custom rom. Course HardSPL first.
How do you input your signature? What is a Hard SPL?
Dude I don't mean to be rude but you really need to search. Alot of the answers you're after can be found in the wiki or the sticky threads at the top of the forums.
This is one of the best forums around with some of the most helpfull members, but with questions like this and members who refuse to search people wont stay nice for long.

Here you go http://www.letmegooglethatforyou.com/?q=site%3Aforum.xda-developers.com+raphael+hardspl. Look at the first link. You input your signature using the UserCP on the left hand side of the brown bar at the top. and as for games and such, several people have Links to 4shared accounts in their signatures. Feel free to browse, download, and experiment.

You can use NoniGPS Plot for this, it will automatically put it into a KML file for insertion to Googleearth or googlemaps. Give it a try might give you some ideas for new addons, also i'd love to see your gps software when finished GL!
As far as this post goes programs i find useful are, notepad , I don't use a lot of apps excep imap pusher service, and also for games i really enjoy G-Invaders. Manila customizer is a good one for customizing your touch flow 3D. Also Pandora, is an amazing music streaming software even over edge network it works quite well. I use that on my decomissioned kaiser, over WiFi.
Hope that helps!
What is your top five apps/panels/tweeks/whatever (free or not free) you have installed on your X1 and why?
I need some ideas but there are so many on this forum so this might be really helpful for us new ones.
Freecaddie: great golf GPS programme, no need to spend hundreds on a dedicated device and like the name suggests it's free!
hTorch: I use the LED more as a torch than I do the camera
Microsoft Voice commander: I mount the phone on my car's dashboard, way easier to call someone using voice commands
Mobileread: I read A LOT of books on my X1

Only Today utilities listed here:
1) cLaunch (v1.203 for VGA) - very able tabbed icon menu
2) TodayWarrior - 1-line instant icon access to most-used settings
3) Quicklinks - able 1-line rolling icon menu from Eten
4) rlToday - instant access to times of various chosen cities, made attractive by adding country flag icons
5) traylaunch - extracted from PHM Tools, allows instant access tray icons for constantly used utilities (like daily currency equivalents)
All of these are freeware, and together with Datex (freeware), RhinoPro Stats graph (cheap enough) and backup plugins, make up a very practical (for me, anyway) Today screen. Chosen theme is Windows Mobile 6.1.tsk as I think the green background is the least stressful when constantly using the device (can't bear the "rage for black")
1. S2U2:
Nice, useful and extends the battery lifetime
2. SpaceTime 3.0:
Scientific graphical calculator. Like a TI 92 for the pocket.
3. S2P:
Finest mp3-player outthere.
4. G-Alarm:
Never overslept for months
5. SPB Keyboard:
The best for short texts when you don't want to slide.
If I had 6 points I would also mention SPB weather 2...but there are just 5 of them so forget about it
1. Resco Explorer - great file browser
2. SPBPocketPlus - "today' extension, tasks manager and much more
3. HTC Touch HD dialer - smart phone dialer
4. HTC Touch HD keyboard
5. iGO8 - cool GPS program
6. Skype - some special version
7. PIGEON! - icq client with user friendly interface
8. And other things.
1.TF3D
2.TomTom
3.TaskFaced
4.Finger menu
5.Blackstone black dialer
I installed many things, my top 5 is just the ones I use the most often
1. Opera Mini 4.2
2. Profi Mail
3. Google Maps

5. Total Commander
Plecodict is the number one by a long way, its a tool for those studying Chinese, too invaluable to not have it...
CE Star for me is the next one.

Getting my phone soon, and cant wait to start "geeking" whit it. but instead of starting blindly on the android market and other places to find good apps and games i decided to ask here.
What app and games do you use and recommend`?
I've had my Magic for a little while and use the following apps:
beebPlayer - Similar to BBC iPlayer
Glance - File Manager
gTraffic - UK Traffic Reports
Flixster - Movie Listings & Cinema Times
Quickpedia - Mobile version of Wikipedia
Qype - Find shops etc that are nearby
SMS Popup - Pops up your SMS when received
Twidroid - Twitter Client
Youtube - Youtube player
There's lots out there, you'll spend ages on the Market!
appmanager
weatherbug
anycut
beebplayer - as mentioned above
ebay
ebuddy - multi IM app, stopped using as it disconnects too often
IM+ lite - multi IM app, also disconencts but seems better than ebuddy
flashlight - all in the name
ebay
newsrob - rss reader that syncs with outlook reader
opera mini - find it better than the installed browser, shame it can't be made default
shazam - to recognise music tracks
shopsavvy - scans prouct barcodes to find you better deals
skype
youtube
touchdown - push email/calendar/contacts app
places directory - uses gps to tell you what places are around you and gives reviews & directions (e.g. restaurants, cinemas, banks etc)
You specifically asked about games so my recommendation is "Bonsai Blast", spent ages on that!
labyrinth FULL 2.99
Bonsai blast FREE
Prince of persia 99p
Shazam FREE
Bacgrounds FREE
Imeem mobile FREE
Toggle buttons (for wifi bluetooth etc) FREE
Taskiller (task manager) FREE
These are the apps i use
Anyone know any emulators (snes gba etc) that work with magic or g2 with no hardware keyboard
Anyone now of a good/bether picture frame app?
I'm guessing we'll need to wait till the hero gets an emulator for snes and such. There's multi touch in that system, so it'll no doubt be exploited. Then it should be possible to use it on the Hero Rom.
Caid.

I was also curious as I am considering the Tmo My Touch...I have a bunch of M$ apps from my wizard, and in the spec reports on the My Touch it says it syncs with M$...so does this mean I will be able to use my M$ games like Insaniquarium on the My Touch???
To be honest, knowing a yes or no to this question will be a make it or break it thing, so the most details you can provide would be of great help to me in deciding whether to get the My Touch or just buy a used Kaiser.
Thanks in advance!

No. It is android, not windows mobile. So you won`t be able to use windows apps on it.
