The Diamond dictionary! - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

The dictionary of Diamond, hmm how can I add symbols?
Like if I wish to make a heart = "<3" Then I only have to push at 1(@.?,) and 3(def), in the standard phonepad.
Or "" "" and so on. Until further it seems, that I only can add words, when I push the add-button. Cause if I write symbols, it doesn't appear. !!
On my old HTC Touch, I had DictMgr, which I used to add words with. But it don't make a difference to the Diamonds dictionary..
Please help!

HTC Touch Keypad

When I install the keypad I get something really weird and unwanted when I want to write a new text message.
Without the keyboard installed I can write the first couple of letters of a contact and it will give me a list of contacts that match that set of letters. however once the touch keyboard is installed I just get its own autocomplete kick in... even when I submit the letters the contact popup doesn't come up?
Does anyone know a way of keeping the contact functionality and the keyboard at the same time?
I've tried disabling XT9 reg file in one of duttys threads, still no joy
Yeah the exact same thing happened on mine and unfortunatley i couldnt find a solution either and eneded up removing it from the device, this being a real shame cause it was very useful specially for texting one handed.
A part solution is to send new text, use touch keyboard to enter first couple letters like you would before then menu / check names it should then bring up a list of ones that partially match, bit long winded though.
Anyone else found a solution to this?
Anyone found a solution to this? I'd love to be able to use the htc pad...!
can anyone recommend a better input thing that will preserve the mentioned function?
I just press the 'to ' text yo the left and use the list , tis fairly fast -- but now I must go as my battery is almost dead!
Its quicker to just to press a letter
Can't anyone think of a fix!!?
Can I just use the sip file or something from the cab?
I've found a cab to disable the XT9 and it means that you can press a letter and it will come up with contacts matching the letter... however it messes up the touch keypad and board.. they both just display all the letters and numbers. :/
so, where is the cab file then ?
Hmmm I think i saw the cab file somewhere

text question

Ok my favorite thing so far with my tilt was when i selected the new message button(the phone with the envelope on it)and when i needed to type in the recipient in the "To:" field if i typed the first few letters or numbers it would give me auto fill options. Well now it won't do it. Did i turn something off or how can i get this back? I hope this makes sense.
Thanks,
Chris Klein
Have you recently changed your ROM? ie flashed?
no but i un installed htc keyboard/dial and it works. is there a way to have this keyboard and still have this function?
Actually same fix as, for instance, in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356025
Look at #9 for dl.

Word Completion does not work!

Hi there, i use the block recognizer a lot to compose SMS messages and on my old touch the word completion feature worked like a charm. However, no matter what settings i use on the diamond (e.g. suggest 3 words after 1 letter etc.etc.) this feature doesn't come up!!
Does anyone have the same issue, and any fixes for it?
I got the HTC touch on the first day it came out and haven't had any problems with it whatsoever. My diamond has been full of issues since day one!
Maybe stupid...
Did you check in the settings if word completion is active?
Yes, the option is definately switched on....but no luck in actually completing any of my words!!
I have the same problem with my Spanish ROM using the "standard / classical" keyboard
Help, please!

You are correct. I complained about this in an earlier thread. I am using the latest ROM and it does not work.......
Doesn't work for me either!
Doesnt work for me either. On my Tytn I choose to create a new message and when I start to type the contacts name for the To field it lists the contacts for that letter so I can select the correct one. Then for the message it will suggest words as I type, this is exactly what I want on my Diamond. I dont use T9. The nearest I can get on the Diamond is if I have "Word completion in ABC mode" ticked in the T9 Settings box then word suggestion works but it doesnt suggest contacts for the To field when creating a new message, instead it suggests words. This is not how I want it
Same problem....
I have the same problem, but only when I use the Block recognizer, using the keyboard works fine, but I'd rather use the block r... so when I need to list the contact I place the names and when I press send the phone give me the choice to select the right contact...
you need to disable xt9, then autocomplete will work again
Use something like KaiserTweak or Boinger's diamond config to change
Hi there, I try to create a cab file which can enable the word completion function for MSFT IME ( Block Recognizer / Keyboard / Letter Recognizer ).
Have fun~

I'm new to this level of use - I have had Win Mobile for years, but only yesterday did my first ROM update! How do I disable T9? I'm desperate for word completion on block recogniser (the only way to input!)
SOLVED
IMPORTANT: previously be sure that HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\XT9SupportMSSip has a value of 0.
Simply change these two registry keys under:
HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\layouts\e 0010409
Ime File : \windows\xt9ime.dll change to Ime File :\windows\compime.dll
and
Layout Text : XT9 IME change to Layout Text : COMP IME
And soft reset.

It Worked!!!! ur a genius thx a million bro
Thank you for this - it worked beautifully!
Thanks to you, it worked like a charm
Nope it does not work perfectly. After that change, word completion only works for letter recogniser, but it does not work for the phone keyboard, compact qwerty, anything that uses the phone keypad.
The HTC keyboards all use T9 word completion, this thread was for the MS keyboards/input methods.

Do you know maybe a solution to have word completion in ABC mode also for HTC keyboards?!?!
Thnx
Urosh
I tried it... It is working perfectly good!!! Thank you very very much.
Changed my registry settings as suggested on my HTC Diamond and it worked perfectly fine. Thanx a lot. I really missed this.

Can you "draw" letters on the Diamond?

Anyone know if that works? Or do we simply have the on-screen-qwerty-keyboard?
Click on the Keboard button so you get a list of QWERTY etc. Pick other input methods . You will find what you need in here . eg Block Recogniser , transcriber etc
What I'm asking for is:
Can I use the pencil and "draw" letters that then become words like I can on SonyEricsson P1i
Yes, Transcriber and Black/Letter recogniser do just that.
Is that a program you need to install or is it included in the box? I can't get it to work...
What do you mean you can't get it work? Because by asking whether is included or not I suppose you haven't found where it is.
Well, try writing a text message. Click on the small arrow on the bottom of the screen right next to the keyboard icon. It should pop up a window mentioning the different keyboards the diamond has (phone keyboard, compact qwerty, full qwerty etc..) At the bottom of this list there is another arrow pointing right called other input methods. Click on it and then you get a new scroll down list with the options that were mentioned before: transcriber, block recognizer, letter recognizer etc. Choose letter recognizer for example and go back to the screen where you are supposed to type the text message and you will see at the bottom of the screen the area where you are supposed to "draw" the letters.
Furthmore, read the manual...
I think this is quite detailed
CarpeNoctum:
Thank you, thank you, thank you
I will try that once I get back from work and have my Diamond in my hands again

Just a heads up...
The transcriber in the Diamond, isn't as good as the one in the SE P series.
I was a bit disappointed. (I am used to the P series.. )
Another option would be - in HTC Diamond - to use Letter Recogniser.
Yeah, you can't write just anywhere on the screen with that (you have a line at the bottom, where you may DRAW - as you say - your letters and have them displayed..)
Personal view.. Letter Recogniser works better than the transcriber.
All the best
Is it possible to recognize a handritten note later after writing it. I mean i have old notes from an older device with handwritten letters. Is there a way I can make my diamond recognize them as letters ?

True.. Actually the Letter Recognizer works quite well for me.
transcriber works over the whole screen, only the block recogniser has a line to draw under.
Hmm i have neither block recognizer or letter recognizer on my danish 1.37. Is there some reg stuff to do to enable it? (and yes, i have looked the right places, only have the 3 htc keyboards and the standard ms full keyboard)

Same here
It should be simple enough for soemone clever enough to make up a cab file for Transcriber.
For example Bepe has taken it out of his ROM so I suspect could easily repackage it as an optional cab for anyone to use.
Just a thought.
I don't have any recognition neither... I can just type, not draw letters to be recognized
Also missing in my Danish Rom
Also missing in my Dutch rom.

No, you need a program like phatpad to do that.
http://www.phatware.com
Also while you're there, look at Calligrapher 8.6
no luck here either
Also missing on the Swedish 1.37 original rom. These kind of small missing things pisses me off, looking around in the menues for hours with no luck, but I am sure there will be some fix for it somehow.
Any news on this? Also from Sweden here and no transcriber...

[Q] about Samsung keyboard and tiny text space

Hi all!
Just a couple of questions: is there a valid reason why Galaxy S virtual keyboard doesn't have permanent arrow keys as (for example) HTC does?
It seems so weird, 4" screen is big enaugh for them!!
Second question: using standard sms application or GOSms, it seems incredible to me how tiny is the space for writing messages: just two lines: Why?!?!?
If I write wrong words, it's difficult to return back (see first question ) and it's difficult to re-read the entire message too...
A friend of mine, proud HTC Desire HD owner, told me this is a Samsung problem only...why?!??? I dont think I'm the only Galaxy S owner who would like bigger space for sms and arrow keys!!
Maybe Cyanogen Rom could help us?
Thanks,
Gianluca (Italy)
Which version of SGS are you using, which version of messsage app?
I just tried and have as many lines as i want. Message windos starts 1 line high, but with every ENTER i press a new line is added and the window grows accordingly.
...but yes - Arrow keys would be nice
