Hello guys ,
i've just bought an HTC Diamond , and I have a problem ... I think it's a noob question , but i don't find the answer ..
In my memory settings my cellphone only detects a total of 82.94Mb memory for the storage , and 113.08mb for the program part, and when a take a look at the storage card , it is said that the total storage card memory is not installed ...
Does someone can help me ??
I have another little problem , when i try to send message it is said that's i cannot , and i have to wait 15s and try again (but i think it is because i have a prepaid card )
Thank you !!
FFS
This has been answered so many many times before
The OS and Radio take some of the RAM before it boots, and The OS and Radio are installed in the Storage memory and cannot be deleted thats why your available Storage is 113MB or something
Rory
so you mean that these 2 programs take almost 3.8gb ??
What do you mean 3.8GB?
How much is free of the Internal Storage?
Well , for exemple when i plug my HTC into my computer , when i take a look at the free space, it's said that i only have 82.2mb of free space . I bought this phone today ... i can't even put more than 20 songs
search, read, learn and if there is no other choice...ask!
meanwhile you are making a gigantic salad with ROM, RAM and Internal Storage. Maybe this 'll open yr eyes:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=402747
So be clever and connect it in Disk Drive mode and not an Active Sync or then navigate to Internal Sotrage folder
well i think i get it ... what i was talking about is the memory , not the storage ... but anyway, when i plug my cellphone on my computer , it is said that i only have like 80Mo of free space ... i'm sorry if i miss something , but my english is kind of poor ... I really don't know what i have to do ... i'am far from the 4Gb of free space i should have .. could you help me please ?? i already took a look at the forum , but i don't find the answer ..
Anyway thank you for your help
i just tried to format my internal storag, it is said " the mass storage cannot be accessed "

Please use the search function - you got more than you wanted
i had the same problem
after i removed the SD card and reinsert it again it got a different name (Storage Card 2) while the old name (Storage card) is already present which made a conflict for the ppc didn't resolved ubtil i deleted the storage card 2 name and reinserted the card again

No, there is current no fix available. HTC is said to release a new WM6 ROM that fix this problem - but it's just hearsay, don't count on it.
The storage card 2 appears when your card is corrupted (perhaps on the system memory, or the card physically), it just got stuck in an unusable state in the system. Somehow at the same time, some program is trying to write things into it. The WM OS is so dump (convienient to programmer, however) that it treats storage cards as part of PATH for saving files. So the OS "magically" creates a new folder "storage card 2", in an attempt to give you the most pleasant experience using WM instead of an error. But users won't notice problems until it is too late, or would only notice this with even bigger confusions like you.
To be honest, I believe a simple error message would really make everyone's life easier, be it users, and the guys at HTC.
OK, if you are asking for remedies, there is one. Try the program "sd sentry". It will notify you whenever there's a corruption or disappearance of the SD card, so you could prevent damage actually being written to the disk physically by rebooting the machine in advance.
How to get this little but useful program is left as an exercise the the readers.
Hello guys,
after the news about the HTC Touch Pro, in my eyes just a diamond, i asked myself about the internal storage. the diamond has the "large" 4gb storage but the Pro just have 512mb?? What's up there? than i saw that in the specifications of the diamond are listed the ROM storage and the internal storage. 256mb ROM storage i think.
The question is, why threw HTC he internal Storage of 4gb out of the device? maybe there's not enough space for a "second" card slot....??
If somebody already opened the diamond or has a picture of an open device can you please post it?
I think HTC has already an storage slot in the diamond, they just blocked it against use of outside? just as a buying argument for the Pro??
I'm just interested how they integrated the 4gb storage,... if it's really so simple as i hope i don't have to buy the Pro. i don't like the "qwertz" keybord, it just makes the really nice device thick and ugly,... but it's sad that the diamond just have 4gb because that's quiet poor in my opinion,... so i really search for an solution for more storage in the diamond....
Have you ever had a WM device before?
The Pro comes with:
ROM: 512 MB
RAM: 288MB
+ microSDHC slot
and the Diamond with:
ROM: 256 MB
RAM: 192 MB
Internal storage: 4 GB
If you look at most of the WM devices out there, the concept usually is like with the PRO. Although with 512MB ROM and 288MB RAM the Pro comes with about twice as much memory as previous PPCs.
I am pretty sure that HTC has soldered the 4gb flash memory right onto the board. Having a cardreader on the board would cost more and take more place... therefore very unlikely...
It is a bummer that the Diamond has no memory card slot. On the other hand, most people will not need more than 4 GB memory.
With that much ROM/RAM that the Pro offers in addition to a Memory Card slot, the machine should actually do very well with quite a few opend applications.
If you search (the forum or use) google, you will find tons of reports on the HTC Touch Diamond...
Just a silly question - does hard reset erase also Internal Storage? Thanks...

Don't believe so. From other posts I've read (and a quick look through a copy of the manual someone posted) it appears to acts just like an SD card (except you can't remove it!). You can clear/reformat the internal storage if you need to but a hard reset doesn't clear it.
Others confirm?

No, it doesn't
perfect, thank you!

Dealbreaker for me on the diamond which is too bad as I love my Vogue right now; but my 8gb microsd card is nearly 100% full...

actually... "it can do" is the answer. when you hard reset, you get a chioce whether to or not!
I concur
BTW, there is hope that it can support USB host and plug a card reader to read whatever you want. Try holding Vol Down and Back (<-) while reset and see for yourself...But I don't know how to get it to work while WM6 running.
My question to the topic is ... did somebody opened Diamond ? (disassembled it) ... whether internal storage is fixed 4gb micro sd / it can be changed for higher capacity micro sd ?
before i do that...

Is it going to brick / hard reset my device?

most bets are no...
it wouldnt make sense to have such a complicated contraption when you can just solder on a 4gb chip directly on board
if they had a 4gb sd slot they would prob give you a memory card reader and say here is a 4gb card with the diamond

No. tried couple times myself, just soft reset again to exit.
Hello all.
I have a problem when copying some files to the Diamond. I have it plugged in as a USB Drive.
I am trying to copy the files for Android to the phone, i first tried copying the whole folder over (i know i have enough space), but it came up with "Cannot copy data: The Parameter is Incorrect" error.
i have since been able to copy over other files, and some of the Android files, but it wont copy the 32mb main files.
anyone got any idea? Google hasn't helped this time...
Cheers!
I've seen this error as well. I unplugged the phone from the usb, plugged it in again, selected "active sync" connection, waited for windows to say active sync was connected, unplugged the usb to disconnect and finally connected again in disk drive mode. The transfer worked.
My active sync version is 4.5 and it only seems to happen with large files i.e 600 MB
Hope that helps!

cheers will give it a go.
file is only 32mb, seems strange.
i've heard that it can be due to the formatting, as FAT only supports up to 4GB or something, but the file is much smaller than that!
-update: tried your idea, and is still not working
well, sort of solved the problem lol
put the files into a ZIP then copied the zip file accross, then unzipped it.
Just happened to me again!
The phone was attatched in disk drive mode, 'my computer' properties showed 380 MB free space. I tried to add a 330MB file and got 'parameter incorrect' error. Deleted a 1GB folder and with so much free space, the 300 MB file transferred without a problem. Be interesting to see exactly how full the 4GB storage can be before the error occurs.
Update:
'my computer' properties /removable drive free space =740 MB
phone/settings/memory/storage card free space = 676 MB
That's why it gave me an error this time
i've encountered this problem some days ago.
i even thought that there is something wrong or some bad segments with my diamond's internal flash storage.
then i formatted the whole internal storage with A NEW USB CABLE which came along with my Canon PowerShot DC...
well, with this new usb cable, no matter how big the file is, such as 1kb or 1.4gb, i can copy them to internal storage without any problem.
just FYI...
sorry for my english 'cause English is not my native language.
Hi Jackyking!!
Your English is fine! I'd be interested to know if you can completely fill your 4GB storage. Let me know how you get on

When i formatted my diamond's flash storage, in case of new problems, i filled the whole 4GB storage with variety stuffs, such as mp3/avi/cab/rar files, at last the whole available storage is filled, well, it takes times
then, when i try to copy another 4MB mp3 file to it, i got a "no more free space" message from windows, then i tried the same with a 3.9MB mp3 file, it was done without any problem. after this, i thought it's OK for my diamond's flash storage.
sounds like formatting could make a difference.... some questions :-
would windows report bad sectors (if there were any) after formatting flash memory?
Do you think defragging flash memory makes a difference?
Could fragmentation cause "skips" when playing audio/video files?

1. no bad sectors reported by windows.
2. maybe, it is easy to backup all 4gb data and format the storage then restore the data, you will see the difference.
3. that won't happen. the "skips" or "short pause" of playing mp3 on diamond is another issue.
you can search the forum. that may be a driver or hardware problem.
Thanks for replying I won't say anymore until I try formatting the 4gb ! While I'm here, hasn't the Diamond got a bloody wonderful screen !!
By the way ,what is your native language or 'mother tongue' ?

你好。
Can your browser display the characters above correctly ?
it is HELLO in English.
it's CHINESE. i'm in mainland China.
same problem
I connected my Diamond to my PC as Hardisk (no Active Sync installed on this PC). I copy and pasted a few MP3 songs (several at one time; i.e. all CD). It worked for two CDs and now I get this error message "parameter incorrect". I only use 400 MB from the 4GB of the internal memory of the HTC.
Do I have to copy one song at a time???
i have qtek 2020i,and i want to add a memory card of 512mb, but its not showing up, i dont know why, and the other weird thing is without memory card in the memory menu it shows a storage card of 59.68mb
but i dont have any card in the the card slot, which is at the top of the phone if i'm not wrong lol kindly help me out with this, and my card is working fine on my laptop, i format it as both fat and fat32 but nothin works on my qtek2020i.
and also the rom update link is not working for me, the folder is empty
ftp://xda:[email protected]_v1.11.162_Radio_1.04_Camera_Fixed.rar
Ok the 59.68Mb storage that shows up is an Internal storage, so that's normal, the problem with the SD card may be due to it being SDHC rather than standard SD, which the Alpine cannot read. I have tried many memory cards types in my XDAIIi and have never had an SDHC one work, I know that there are also issues with using microSD cards with adaptors.
The non-availability of ROM images is due to a certain huge software company asking for them to be removed, regardless of the enormous benefits to that companies users in having access to such a useful resource.
(however the careful use of google may help, especially if you are looking for a specific filename, since some of the images you are looking for are stored on various other sites....... Alpine_Ext-1.11.162_Radio-1.04_O2stuffstripped_Camera_Fixed.rar springs to mind ...... Seek and ye shall find...... oh and cut and paste shall set you free ).
Long story short does anyone know how to tell what size the internal SD card is inside of the phone other than having to rely on the android system/kies to tell me?
I received my i9000 back from the repair center today (after successfully hard bricking it ). They said that all they'd done was re-flash the firmware which is fine & what I expected them to do. The thing which is now confusing me is that my phone & kies now report 13.43gb of internal storage. When I know for a fact that I have an 8gb i9000 (used to report ~6.xxgb). I just wanted to check if I do actually have what I assume is a 16gb internal sd card or is there some software issue going on here?
Many Thanks for any help
Higadeb
Edit: Sorry I forgot to put [Q] in title. My bad
Maybe you had a generous serviceman that hooked you up with a 16gb job
Maybe they found a defect in the card and replaced it.
Have you mounted the phone as mass storage, and checked the size from within Windows?
Windows sees it as 13.4GB too.
Maybe I did just get a nice serviceman...
Well there you go!
Some good things do come from a brick
More music storage for you!
So I take it Windows would give a definitive result and not rely on any info from the phone when it's in Mass Storage?
Yes more music storage indeed. Kinda wish I'd bricked it before I replaced my 16GB external with a 32GB one... still, you can never have too much space
Haha yeah, now you're moving into music and 3gb mpeg4 movie territory
I don't think Android, Kies, and then Windows would all give you a misreading.
Take it for what it is... Lucky you.
Sweet, thanks for you help!
Hey, you're welcome. Anytime
