When you shut the phone down, it's totally powered off, therefore nothing is running, therefore it's not possible to have a program "wake up" the device as it would need to be powered up to run in the 1st place.

Have you done a soft reset since setting up the alarms? WM seems to have a bug whereby the alarms won't work until this is done.
And yes having the diamond switched off it will wake up for the alarm contrary to the above post.

That's incorrect. When the phone is switched off (not just sleeping) it is impossible to have any program running or alarm sound.
hummmmm
i was always lead to belive power off ppc off
this was the way with all my other ppc's
thanks again
anyway i suppose is a problem or a bug of WM6.1
in my old ppc with WM2003se it wake up also when is stutted down

hey i'm pretty newb on here but correct me if i'm wrong, an alarm clock works too right?
Why not just put your diamond to sleep then? I didn't realise you could completely power it off but can't say I'd bother doing that as then you have to wait for it to boot etc.
I set mine to airplane mode and it uses minimal power overnight and then wakes when the alarm time hits.
I've used ipaq's since the 3650 years back and have always used them as my alarm. Handy as a nightlight as well.

You could never put the phone in standby on wifi on the heremes. I *****ed when I was new to hermes and was told that is to save power. I dont remember about just turning the backlight off though.
Yes its a really ***** PROBLEM!!!!
I am pissed off... you cant image .....
Other PPC can do this.....
- Disable autoPower off in POWER OPTIONS.
- Toggle SCreen
And wifi keeps conected and ON but with TYTN2 i am not ABLE TO THIS !!!!!!

sucks, but I am not surprised
I had the same problem when streaming. When I lock the screen with the power button on my treo I'd lose the stream. But this doesnt happen if I use scrsaver.exe from PHM. I posted it here in post 2 http://discussion.treocentral.com/showthread.php?t=139884 just change the extension to exe of course and run the exe on the ppc
It turns the screen off and locks the buttons. On the treo you would turn the screen back on with the center button on the 5way. Hope this works for you. Its been a jewel for me.
its to save power. using wifi uses SO much power and its impractical. I have yet to see a PPC that does NOT do this. Some "seem" to not do it but i assume that it just "keeps the connection active" and when it does re-connect back up it continues to send data, but gives a false sense of it being on (correct me if i'm wrong)
simple soloution: Connect the AC adapter to your TytnII and the screen backlight may turn off but the device will remain on (you can still see the screen) and thus keeping your connection. Not the ideal, but a 4hrs battery life with wifi on? not my idea of a good idea
Edit thingy:
Btw its not a huge bug .. very misleading topic title!!!!

From what I read it IS a huge bug, and.... you're wrong
Just kidding, but WiFi is supposed to suspend when device is put in suspend mode, sure. But of course not when just the screen is turned off. And every ppc should act that way..

I believe you can toggle this behavior with START/SETTINGS/CONNECTIONS/Wireless LAN/Power Mode and slide towards "Best Performance".
I noticed this on my Sprint Mogul while I had it. Funny thing was after a clean phone boot it wouldnt always behave according to where the slider is (even tho set at best bat life it would still stay on sometimes when screen timeout, I don't believe the kaiser/tilt does this), but going into the settings and moving this slider would make it behave accordingly.
Good luck.
I'm seeing the same thing. On my TyTN, I used to use MortSaver to turn off the screen but leave the device and WiFi running. Since I switched to a TyTN II, WiFi turns off when I start MortSaver.
Cranking up the WiFi power options to max performance does not seem to help.
This is not about standby mode - we all know WiFi turns off there (even if we'd prefer that be an option too, of course).
If there a fix for this issue?
I think something could be made via reg editing, but since I don't own a kaiser...

Any tips where to start looking?
yep, in the registry
just kidding, check that key, lot of parameters to play with.. Their names sound just like what you're looking for :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\TNETWLN1\Parms
note that TNETWLN1 is the name of the WiFi adapter, so it may not be the same on kaiser.

The relevant key on the Kaiser would be:
HKLM\Comm\TNETW12511\Parms
(somehow it scares me that I know that from the top of my head )
I was sure TCPMP screen off option was working ( keeping WiFi alive )... after awhile ... it failed too.
sorry

Sadly doesnt work for me. At least the green LED blinks for a while in standby mode but the device becomes pretty warm and the Wlan says disconnected if i turn on the device again.
I'm having a problem where just about every morning I wake up and my phone is frozen and the home screen is showing distorted colors. Some times the interface will slightly change after touching the screen but not much else. This has been a big problem for me because for the past few days i've been late for work as I depend on my pocket alarm application to wake me up. (its the only alarm that wakes me up). I'm using Alex v5.20 CUBE rom. Any help? I've already run the google and I see a lot of cube related freezes but Im not sure if this is the case. I'm thinking its Home related.
maybe its having morning sickness hahhahahahah 0_o did you try a hard rest or going to the the setting for htc home disabling everythign soft rest and the turn it back on

Maybe it's the alarm application??? Uninstall Pocket Alarm and try the default alarm application once and see if your phone freezes the next day.
Thanks I'll try that and if it doesn't help I'll try a cleaner rom.
Tilt freezes
warm it up first
When i charging the x1, at 00:00 am, the LCD will automatic turn on, and wait for a while, the LCD backlight will turn off, but the LCD still displaying.....how to turn off this function ??? or it is a program bug ? so truble
i think i have noticed the same thing too!
i put it to charge at sleep and turn screen off - wank up and screen is on but its charging anyways so....
G-alarm does this. Do you have G-alarm installed?
There's a setting that you can change settings.xml
<MidnightWakeup>True</MidnightWakeup
Change True to False and soft reset your device.
This change did work, but it stopped the calendar in spb shell panel. I Don't know why.
As far as I know, WM has always done this. It rebuilds the event queue every midnight causing the device to wake up.

i see......so can i set when WM rebuild the event queue without wake up the x1 ?
This is definitely not an X1 problem, it used to happen on my XDA Orbit and until today I was perplexed as to what was causing it. Thanks for info.

Not likely, mate.
ah, this is interesting, not for the X1 (which i didn't get yet, but soon), but on my SE T630 3-4 years ago, i used to see it turn on at night for few seconds then back off, might be same issue

hi all,
i do have several problems with my diamond, first of all i am using an offical rom by htc its 2.03.xxx and the manila of the hd
to come to my problems i am giving u a list of problems which i were not able to solve:
1. nearly each day my diamond dials into the internet to check for email, but i didnt
2.sometimes it happens that when i am getting my diamond out of the pocket he asks me whether i am sure to turn the diamond off or not, but i didnt push the off button, especially not that long
3.the touchfield below the display is just usable with my fingers, not with the stylus or something like this, but earlier it did work with finger and stylus
4.very often it happens that when i am called that my diamond just take off the telephone call(which is nearly impossible becuase i do have the slider and to press the field down it needs very much which isnt existing in my pocket)
5. when i am controlling my volummne i have often problems that the systemloudness is very loud but the ringtone loudness stays on silent or turns on silent
i do not prefer to have a hardreset as a solution because than i would have to made all the vocabulary again

Check the config of the mail app. Maybe you've got the 'check for new mail every X minutes' enabled.

There's an option that automatically takes the call after a few seconds or rings. Check the phone setup.

When you press the up/down volume, you're modifying the system volume. On top-left of the screen you'll see an arrow. Click it and you could access to the ringtone volume.
Hope it helps.
I am not sure what is going on, but for whatever reason, certain features of the stock alarm app simply don't work. e.g the option for setting side keys to snooze does absolutely nothing! This is probably my biggest issue as the other could be written off as me doing crazy things in my tired waking up state. It has simply never functioned as it should for me. From the out of the box telco rom, to unbranded stock rom and now KA04.
The UI of the app is quite nice when setting alarms, but just terrible for actual alarms. I seem to dismiss them easily as-well :|. Somehow my partner is getting to the home-screen and opening other apps when trying to snooze (no idea how she is pulling that off though). Sonic Jump's title screen at max volume at 3 am is quite horrendous to the ears
I've set every possible setting to avoid the alarm just dismissing itself yet it's still a pretty frequent occurance.
So either, does anyone know a fix and/or are you experiencing this? OR can you recommend a really solid 3rd party replacement? I've had good experience with AlarmDroid in the past but recently on my GS2 it was having some compatibility issues. With an alarm you don't really wanna risk that it might not go off though lol.
I tried the timer once to boil eggs, it shut down as soon as I locked the screen for some reason. As soon as I unlocked the screen the timer resumed from where I'd locked the screen.
Downloaded Timer instead, it's always served me well.
Gentle Alarm is my alarm clock. Been using it for 2+ years now. love it. Love to be woken slowly by nature sounds.

I think the alarm app is buggy, agree the side button does nothing (code probably ported from another Experia and not checked) pretty poor
and when the alarm actually activates and I miss the screen slider to turn it off - when I activate the home screen and pull down the notification bar to turn off the alarm - it's not always there, the only way I can turn off the alarm is to turn off the phone

Lol well at least I'm not crazy then. You can never be sure who's fault it is that early in the morning .
no problems with alarm here except the early morning syndrome hitting the slider
I have a problem with the alarm. Say I've set up an alarm that is supposed to repeat every day of the week.
But every time I dismiss it when it goes off, it disables itself, so I have to enable it again manually in order to be woken up the next day.
does it work the same way for everybody?

I was late for work the other day because I snoozed the alarm and it didn't come back, at all!... Not Sony's fault, I had set max. number of background processes to 1, and when the lockscreen process starts, that means the launcher becomes the 1 background activity, and the clock gets bumped from memory.
Oops.
