KaiserGL tech demos - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Themes and Apps

Just finished porting this one from Graphics for Masses. Quite a few errors in the source, couple of the tech demos don't work very well due to pointlessness or isn't allowed in OpenGL-ES. Also, assuming VGA, incompatible with WinCE/WinMob/VS2008, etc.
instructions & caveats:
d-pad select to select from menu
up-down-left-right on d-pad to do something
touch screen to go back to menu
select Exit from menu to quit program
probably won't work in landscape
supports minimizing

does any one know why the buttons part is touch sensitive?
till now there is no app to be controlled buy that touch....
...and there is more because that part is dual touch like iphone
Of course, there are a couple of applications, in which the SmartTouch is enabled (Opera, Picture Gallery) but you can easilly add more of them either by Advanced Config or by editing the registry.

Cube FPS Game Keymaps

I have discovered how to assign keymaps to the Cube FPS game (requires installed OpenGL ES drivers and the Pocket PC port of the open source first person shooter game Cube). I have attached a copy of my keymap configuration. By placing it in the DATA folder inside the cubeppc folder (replacing the old keymap), the center key (enter also works on Touch Pros) will fire (instead of jump) and the down key will bring up the menu (allowing you to actually play).
If you want to make other changes, the keys, CENTER, UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT will actually work on the Touch Pro/Diamond. ESCAPE may work (End key) but there would be no way to exit the game but to soft reset your device(I have not tried this but it is reversible (just remap)). I would also recommend remapping LEFT or RIGHT to "weapon" or "weapon 2 3 4" although both will only switch between two weapons (last weapons used/picked up) and do essentially the same action. This remapping may be undesirable because of losing the ability to move sideways. I would recommend leaving one for movement to dodge enemy fire.
I have not tried remapping using any other config files and did not have success remapping to letters (Touch Pro hardware keyboard). Most other keys are for several Dell Axim Pocket PC models that this port was originally intended for. My attempts to change keys (example. from "MIDLEFT" to "SPACE" or a letter (Touch Pro hardware keyboard)) have had no effect on the game.
attack=fire
weapon or weapon 2 3 4=change between last weapons used/picked up
showmenu main=show menu
quit=quit game and return to previous app/program/launcher/Today Screen
Also attached is a shortcut (I would suggest putting it in your Games menu under your Programs menu). The short cut requires you put the whole "cubeppc" folder in My Documents on your device's storage (not Storage Card). THE SHORTCUT IS NOT REQUIRED!
very nice, will try it soon
I will try this out too, saurbraten (cube2 engine) is one of the best if not the best free FPS's out there.

[Q] [Question] Need some quick help getting themes to work here

So I just picked up this phone for free from one of my friends and I'm having trouble installing themes. Changing the background around seems easy enough and the phone seems to be in good order and shape but I can't get the designer themes(or any theme, really) to work here. I'm running WM 6.5 Professional(CE OS 5.2.21856 (Build 21856.5.0.65)).
I can't really see what I'm doing wrong. I just don't have access to a specific menu. I followed a few basic tutorials on where to go to pick my theme.
I boot up my phone
I press the Start menu button in the top left
I press Settings
Here's where it differentiates from what I've heard of.
Search YouTube for a video titled "Windows Mobile 6.5 Designer Themes" by an account called pocketnowvideo.
If you look at that YouTube video, around 1:15 you can see the guy press Settings in the Start menu and it brings him to a sub-menu while still in the Start menu. For me, it's different here. Granted, he's using an HTC and I'm equipped with an Omnia, but the menu should still be the same if the OS is the same, no?
So anyways, he taps settings and the menu he gets shows some buttons like Bluetooth, Lock, Sounds and Notifications, and Today. That Today is the button I'm looking for but I can't find it.
Instead, my menu isn't a sub-menu; it's an entirely different menu altogether, seperate from the Start menu that's shown in the video. In my Settings menu, I have two tabs: Basic Settings and Advanced Settings. Neither of these two tabs have a button that says "Today", but the Basic Settings tab has a button that says Display and Light. If I tap on it, it has a button that says Theme and it allows me to select my theme in there. There's also another button that says Items on Today but I'll get to that in a bit.
When I select my theme from the themes offered, nothing changes. Literally nothing(well actually, I think once the colour scheme might have changed, but only slightly and that's it). I can change the wallpaper in a different section of the Display and Light menu but the theme doesn't seem to want to budge.
So moving onto Items on Today button, it allows me to enable what items I want to see on the front of today, as well as the choice of enabling or disabling widgets. Except that when I choose the items for today, the items look very boring and not as vivid and vibrant as they do on the designer themes. They're just 10 point Arial font, nothing more.
tl;dr I can't access the proper Settings menu to properly change a theme, how do I do it?
bump, someone needs to know about this
you are using the samsung UI, just go to samsung settings -> general settings-> samsung touchwiz UI and turn it off. press the start button again then u will go to window's mobile start menu.
I turned that off already.

Softkeys always visible when playing games, help :(

When I turn the screen on landscape mode while watching movies or youtube, the softkeys menu will disappeared but that doesnt happen when playing games on landscape mode. The softkeys remains on screen even on fullscreen landscape. It is very annoying.
Is there a way I can make it go away?
Note: I dont have this problem with my old Galaxy Nexus. When the game start, softkeys disappear automatically
No you can't - how else are you gonna access the menu and or go back to the home screen?
Take it as that they are the software equivalent of hardware buttons - there to stay.

But when watching movies they are invisible until the screen is touched so why can't it be the same for games?

It depends on whether the app is coded to show hardware keys or not - and video players usually are less graphic intensive than games to allow the fancy pop-up ui.
Right now, most games/apps are coded in such a way that:
If detect hardware buttons > disable menu bar
If no hardware buttons detected > menu bar will stay no matter what.
For video player, because of the specialized nature of these type of apps, has the menu bar appears in pop-up form when a finger touch is registered. Games can't use this because a finger touch on a game is usually an action in the game itself.
Unfortunately, in a world where hardware buttons for Android are becoming rarer), this is probably the best way around the UI.

Changing nav bar buttons and their functions - is this possible?

Hi, newbie here trying to find out if it’s possible to turn an android phone into a fast desktop type multitasker. Was told I need a combination of AOSP ROM + eXposed, +Tasker +plugins, and a launcher like Lightning Launcher Extreme. so trying to assemble a list of things I’ll need, and find out if it’s even possible or not to achieve these tasks. In priority sequence:
1) Add as many as 15 buttons to nav bar. would love to change the size and more impornt spacing maybe even location of each button.
2) Optional (ability to lock some of the buttons across the board so lets say, on left side I have a locked home and back button, btu the ones on the right I can swipe left or right and move the nav bar buttons just like on Xtended NavBar app , so it’s kind of like a split nav bar.
Is it possible to add specific functions to each nav bar button I create:
3) Three zoom buttons, one with preset zoom %, so I click it once it zooms in to my preset % I click it second time zoom out must be able to preset the % of zoom somewhere. The other two zoom buttons are regular zoom in and out by increments (if possible preset increments as well per each click)
4) Multitask, instead of resent app, where it shows my open apps as smaller windows, I’d rather switch between them in full screen view, so the navbar recent app button must be mapped to simply switch between all open apps in rotation with each click.
5) Copy/ paste/ cut / undo / 4 buttons, not sure if it needs mapping in each app I use or universal, if each app, can it be done in Firefox or any other web browser, and in Microsoft office or any other office program so when I highlight text I can use these buttons, just like they normally would work in desktop versions?
6) 4 arrow keys, this is for Microsoft excel to shift quickly between cells so in each direction. Or as scrolling in web browser in all 4 directions.
7) search button, same concept as copy paste only once I highlight a text this button will search the net for highlighted text not sure if it’s possible to do from office app as well.
8) Now this is a tricky one, is it possible to automate the nav bar buttons, so if I had 10 or more buttons in total, they can’t fit the screen obviously, os once I open a certain app, the nav bar would move left or right depending on my app, so lets say I open an office app, the cut/paste /undo are automatically in front of me, if I open a excel then the arrow keys are in front……and so on
9) Is it also possible to remap volume keys in certain apps, so lets say I open excel, I have space in my nav bar only for 4 arrow keys, so in this case the volume buttons would become copy/paste.
If some could list the ROM, which launcher, specific modules, specific takser plug ins that could accomplish this or some things, well in an optimized way so I’m not running 15 apps for each request, then I will research each one individually.
Sorry for the long post.
Cheers
I have honestly never heard of such things...
And I think (having owned a Note 3 and now a Nexus 5) that the closest you can ever get to such multitasking experience is to own a Galaxy Note 4, with all the S-Pen functionality that's been added so that it'll work like a mouse on a computer. I know this may not add a lot to your cause; it's just what my knowledge offers.
Well for a newbie the confusion comes to me from not understanding the fundamentals of the android, what things are in the core and what things are on top as a layer? So for example if there is a back button on most phones that’s a fundamental core feature, does that mean it will be easy to add a forward button, so this way I’m compromising on my number 4) request and trying to go more a long the lines of android fundamentals.
As for the note 4 if it does add some mouse like functionality it’s only 50% since some things are faster via keyboard shortcuts rather then a mouse.
The problem I see is too many menus, so you select a text even with an s pen you must open a menu then select a copy, then open another app where you want to paste it in a specific location first you must zoom in that means turn the pen away and zoom then turn the pen towards another menu to open so you can select paste… The pen only has one or two buttons so if it has the zoom buttons I can’t paste quickly with a pen, if it has the paste buttons then I need to use my fingers to zoom in again turning my hand back and forth
way too many menus and not very productive way of working in trying to accomplish a small task of coping a text in one app and pasting in another in specific location. As you can see I’m trying to combine both mouse and keyboard shortcuts into one nav bar button this is to overcome the shortcomings of a small size screen and lack of keyboard and mouse of course.
I realize maybe the whole goal of android was never geared towards my way of thinking, but if it’s open source platform and as I see it there are many things that can be changed compared to a more closed system, it’s how difficult to do it only a programmer will understand, a I’m not a programmer. So I’m here trying to get some answers.
Cheers
