how to dump the splashscreen without an official rom image ?

Hi all ,
at this day , it don't exist any official rom of the S300+ (trinity branded by SFR in France) and so , i can't dump the splashscreen .....
is exist a way to do that in my trinity ? (i have of course this rom inside)
cause soon ,this evening i hope , we will able to create his own extrom so with the splashscreen of the S300+ , i can create a FULL rom for anybody

you have to patch an SPL to allow you to rbmc at any address, i did this on hermes, not on trinity, but I guess should be very similar:
search for this hex string on the SPL: 0532A0E30E3883E3
Replace it for 0532A0E30000A0E1
Make sure the string is found only once, and load the resulting SPL.nb with SSPL.
Then you can do:

OK, I don't put links to anything so you make a bit of reading / research yourself... and is faster for me to write
Download HardSPL for trinity, use nbhextract to get SPL.nb from the NBH file.
By default the SPL will only allow you to "dump" a small region of the NAND flash chip, you want to dump the splash screen, so we have to patch it. To patch it, take any hex editor of your choice (radare, winhex...) and find this hexadecimal string: "0532A0E30E3883E3", then replace it for "0532A0E30000A0E1".
Now you have to load this SPL on your device using SSPL (read the SSPL readme.txt file, advanced instructions), you have to pass it as a parameter so you have two options: either create a .lnk file or use itsutils:

After prun, you have to quickly press the bootloader buttons, and you'll see the tri-color screen with your patched SPL
Disable activesync from now on
Connect to bootloader and issue the following commands:

mtty is very fishy with rbmc, so probably you will see no output, if this is the case you have 3 options:
Use unix command 'cu' (inside uucp tools), it works fine with rbmc.
Use mtty and capture the output with usb monitor, then use unix command 'xxd' to create the binary files.
Try with putty (I never tested, but probably works).
The output of the two rbmc commands are your first and second splash screens.

yes, it's normal cos the SSPL kills the OS.

i have not unix at home (i have only windows) , so before i ask my friends to create the binary files , how can i be sure that my dump is correct ?

The dump should have 262144 bytes (size of a splash screen).

Help...Can Not upgrade my O2 XDA IIs to either WM5 or WM6

I don't know if I toasted my XDA
I have an XDA IIs. The biggest problem I think that I made was to use Windows Mobile center since I am using a Windows Vista OS.
I was about to install the windows 6.1 from pinoytopdownloads when suddenly, it stopped and continuosly displayed Serial......version 2.07.
Did I toast my ROM or did it just become blank because Windows Mobile Center disconnects once the phone started changing it's OS?
I have not tried checking if activesync 3.7 on a Windows XP application can still recognize the O2 Xda IIs in that state.
If anyone can guide me or give help regarding this, I will greatly appreciate it. thanks.

try using XP with active sync 4.5 and start the process from the top, hard reset first your BA and put it in bootloader mode...that should work

Upgrading Blue Angel using Vista (without Mail Button)
Hy everyone,
Yesterday I had a bit of a struggle trying to upgrade my SPV M2000 (aka Blue Angel) but in the end it worked.
As you guys are having some trouble too, I'm going to post the way I did it and hope that it works for you as well..
Note I: This steps worked for me but there is no guarantee that they will do so for you too and everything you try is at your own risk. However I am sure, you are all aware of this and really hope that this is going to help you.
Note II: My Laptop runs Vista Business, my BA WM2003 non-SE. I modified the installation process as the mail button on my BA is not working anymore, preventing me from following the normal instructions found in the wiki.
First of all (Prerequisites):
- Ensure Windows Mobile Device Center (WMDC) is installed and updated to the most recent version. The latest version is 6.1 which worked fine for me.
- Get the drivers for the BA, to be found in the wiki
- Get MTTY 1.4.2, attached to this post
- Get the ROM you want to install, I used Sun Dream's WM6.1 which can be found in the wiki as well
Now, to the task:
To begin with we can follow the instructions given in the wiki for ugrading to wm6 using vista, so I'll just copy&paste those steps from there:
4. Put your device into Bootloader mode by pressing and hold the "Power" & "Record" buttons, and then press the Reset Button.
5. Connect the phone to the sync cable/cradle USB. (Now you can see "USB" at the top of your display and numbers (2.06 or 2.07 at the bottom) You may need to remove SD/MMC (memory) card
6. Now navigate into the WMDC (Start -> All Programs -> Windows Mobile Device Center)
* Click on the "connection settings" menu icon
* In the connection settings menu uncheck "allow USB connections" then press OK.
* Now exit the WMDC and return to the desktop
7. Go into the start menu and type "Services", this will take you into the local services dialogue and show a list of all services either running or registered with your pc.
* Scroll down the list and make sure these services are present:
* Windows Mobile-based connectivity
* Windows Mobile 2003-based connectivity
* If these services are not started then double click each one and set them to Automatic start by clicking the "startup-type" drop-down menu and selecting automatic then click the start button in the same window, apply the setting by pressing OK.
* Return back to the desktop again
8. Go into the start menu and type "Device Manager" then run, this will take you into the device manager.
* Click the "+" symbol next to "Mobile Devices" and double click on "HTC USB Sync". (Note: In my case this was labelled "Microsoft USB Sync")
* This will bring up the properties of the currently connected device.
* Go to the "Driver" tab and click "Update Driver".
* Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software".
* Select "Let me pick from a list...."
* Click the "Have Disk" button.
* Click "Browse" and navigate to the AS_DRIVERS folder we created earlier.
* Now select your file
o Vista 32bit users select the file "wceusbsh.inf"
o Vista 64bit users select the file "wceusbshx64.inf"
* Then click Open.
* Click next and the driver will be installed (wait a moment).
* Press close and escape back to the desktop now.

Next Steps, different from those described in the wiki:
9. Go to the task manager and kill the wmdc.exe process
10. Run MTTY; select the USB option from the dropdown list
- There is also a USB button but the instructions I found said NOT to use it, so I did not test it
- Apparently, the option could also be called something like WCEUSBSH001, but always has to contain USB. In my case it just said USB
- If you do not get a USB option something is not connected correctly, ie it will not work with the stock drivers Vista uses

Next Steps:
11. Take the phone off the cradle. I am not absloutely sure anymore, but I think it still was in bootloader mode at that point. If that is the case just soft reset the device.
- When the device has rebooted it will ask you whether to flash some settings (can't remember which..) about 3 times. Just answer no to all of them.
12. Restart WMDC and re-allow USB connections (under connection settings)
13. Reconnect your device to the cradle and start Active Sync on the Blue Angel
- Make sure your device is shown as "connected" in WMDC
14. Start the ROM installation.
Note: Using "BaUpgradeUT.exe" resulted in a Device ID error. In this case you have to use a version which does not check the ID codes. I used the version attached to this post
15. When the installation is finished, the dialogue on the computer says to cold boot (hard reset) the device.
- If your mail button is not working, just soft reset the device (what I did)
- If your mail button is working you may attempt this. (Please report back!)
I have not yet gotten through really testing the device and I never had a WM6.1 device before, thus no basis for comparison. From the first impressions the soft-reset at the end did not cause any problems and everything seems to be working fine.
16. You're done
Whew, this has gotten rather long. If this instructions work for you, please let me know!
As there seem to be several BAs out there where the mail button doesn't work this might be a useful addition to the wiki.
However, I will not post it there without some feedback whether it works for others as well..
(I hope there aren't to many mistakes in the text; I am not a native speaker)
Final Note:
This is not my work, all the steps described above were found on this forum and on the wiki pages. I just did the job of combining them in a way that worked for me.

Yes. If you feel more comfortable on a specific ROM it is always ok to downgrade or upgrade.

My XDA IIs just froze when resetted earlier and it was running on WM6.1 so I started to wonder if it had totally died. As I mainly leave it in the car and use it for satnav I was considering now buying a tomtom.
Then thought if its dead trying to revive it cant hurt so I found the following link (http://pinoytopdownloads.blogspot.com) to download a zipped file claiming to be WM6.5.
Opened the file and did a hard reset on devicethen sync with PC. Ran the programe which looked farmiliar from previous updates I had used so thought it might work. Half hour later, my XDA IIs came back to life running WM6.5 and none of my data such as text and contacts were lost at all.
It lives again.
Waiting for the HTC Touch Pro2 to see if it lives up to its hype and then can use my PDA as a phone again too cos lets face it... the XDA IIs is a bit of a lump now!

I just bought an 02 XDA IIs. I love it but the bluetooth doesn't work with my Motorola S9 stereo headset unless it's 6 inches from my head. Does your XDA IIs work with stereo bluetooth? Have you tried it with WM6.1? I'd like to know.

Upgrading to WM6.1, Etc.
For all you upgrading Blue Angels to WM6 and high, you need to read the Wiki http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Blueangel. Read Blue Angel for beginners and also the upgrading to WM5 and WM6. You'll learn that you can free up some memory being used for the Extended ROM among other things.

I am new here, and this is my first rom flash. I have an O2 XDA lls that was given to me by a friend on WM2003. On XP, following the instructions on the wiki, I have tried with several roms. The flash seems to work, but then as soon as I reset the phone I am back in WM2003. Instead of a striped boot screen, I simply see an O2 logo, and when using the key combinations, I get no debug options.
Anyone have any ideas?

well did you flash a proper rom or maybe just a radio rom, meaning just an upgrade on wireless tech, because that process would "feel" like flashing a rom but actually doesn't change the OS

if that helps. I also used one off the helmi_c to check it wasn't a dodgy rom. DO you have any specific one to recommend? When I downloaded and unziped the rar, I simply ran the upgrade file within which started a wizard which said it would upgrade my pda. Strangely, the wizard did not display any information about the pda on the screen which tells you the rom info. Is it possible that it is not being detected? Do I need to install some extra drivers on XP?

it is perfectly normal that this upgrade tool does not show all the information like an official upgrade would, first of all, that is because these are cooked roms, meaning you only upgrade the OS, not the protocol, radio and extrom. that would be baked roms. but anyway, also, that the device's current information is not fully shown or not shown at all is normal, as you are probably using the MAupgradeut_noID.exe in contrast to the original BAupgradeut.exe, just by the first two letters (and the giant picture in the wizard) you can tell that this upgrade tool is actually for the magician, but works best for BA.

the R6.1 release on that site is the newest real release, meaning you can get full further support, the download links work...
Don't get fooled by the R6.1, we are still talking about wm6.5, it is just the xplode release number.
P.S. no extra drivers needed, just use the wiki wizard word by word and it will work

The same thing happens again. Using the ROM upgrade file, it all seemed to work, and then when I attempt to do a hard reset, I get no stripes, just an O2 logo, and no boot options. I am then returned to Wm2003. Maybe I will try on another computer.

Back up you data and do a hard reset. If the problems persist, you can pretty mouch assume it is a hardware problem.

when I start my phone it won't show the radio version ect. only the boot display will work for few seconds
and it's crashs! What can i do!? I have flash some roms.

Try upgrading your hardspl to 33.4 or 3.29 ,1.0 is a WM 6.0 hardspl.

I have try to upgrade Hardspl many times. And it doesn't do it

The reason it won't start anymore is because you ran Task 2a, which, unlike previous devices, formats EVERYTHING away, including the SPL and Windows Mobile. It essentially bricks the device, as it will not boot past OEMSBL (The radio bootloader, it comes first in boot order and loads the SPL, AFAIK). As soon as the device is reset after running the Task 2a command, the device will not boot as there is no OS bootloader, nor is there anything to boot. However, Jockyw2001 has created tools which may help to recover from a task 2a. A thread concerning Task 2a bricks can be found here. Best of luck with recovering your device.

When I manually put my phone in OEMSBL, which is what yours should be in when you turn it on right now (the light is green but the screen stays black), windows detects it in Device Manager as: ZTE NMEA Device CDMA 1X, ZTE Diagnostics Interface 6000 CDMA 1X, ZTE USB Modem 6000 CDMA 1X. It should also detect the GPS and some other stuff, but I can't find those in Device manager.

This kind of stuff is too complicated for me, so I can't answer that myself. However, there are many threads that talk about task 2a resets and how to recover from them. Here, here, and here are all good places to start. But keep in mind that you should NOT try anything in these threads unless you have read everything, and are absolutely sure that the tool is for your specific situation. For example, DO NOT use the FrankenKaiser version in the third link if you don't have the Radio from Hell installed.
Alternatively, you could try the XDA IRC channel, or PM jockeyw2001.
Once again, best of luck repairing your brick.

[SOLVED] Stuck at 4 color screen

Hi i have a vodafone VPx, and i hard reset it and now it is stuck on a 4 colour screen it says Made BY D-TWO
R: NONE
G: NONE
D: W6.5.X
i tried putting it i bootloader mode but i get a white screen when i press the mail button. PLEASE help me and provide me with all the links as i am a TOTAL NOOB i got my VPx yesterday so i dont know anything and this is my first WM phone. I do not know what rom it is using as i bought it with it already upgraded. please help

RECORD+CAMERA+RESET for a few seconds put this options like it:
Enable KITL -> NO
Clean Registry Hive -> YES
Format Storage -> YES
with RECORD you move and with CAMERA change the values, at the and press MAIL.

tried that before it gets stuck on a white sreen
oh and i put my phone in boot loader mode and installed wm6.5 but it is not successful please someone send me link to wm 2003 se

EDIT 2: fixed it and updated to WM6.5.5 how?

didn't work for me, at first the phone shows only 4 colored screen, when i press "mail" button, it's stuck on white screen, no sounds no nothing, any ideas? ;/

[DEV] Transition wifi/data

Hi guys, I'm not a developer, despite that I dare to open this topic.
It's all an annoying bug that has "some" of our P990, is that after being connected to a wireless network connection is not restored data.
I encourage developers great forum to find the solution this annoying bug. I'm pretty sure it's not a problem of the baseband and ril, I've tried all the possible combinations, I assure you, any fixes the bug, however if there has been any rom like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1596671, I always worked well in the wifi-data transitions.

- a stock ROM on your device (you will need LG hidden menu)
- hyperterminal
- your original IMEI (it is on the original phone's package)

I solved this kind of problem I was having just changing network operator. Never got this problem again. And I know that it's also related to phone, since I had a Sony x10 before with the same simcard and never got this on that phone, but the only way to solve it was changing operator.

I'm facing this problem for a long time now since I installed a CM7 rom. Plus I'm having troubles during network operators change my device is not disabling data connection in Roaming. Even with a different sim card the result is the same. Thnx in advance.

I doubt no one will find solution because problem persist only on couple of devices and must be reproduced here for helping.
So this is your part to fix it - make logs, and not devs part.

Great you opened this thread man! I like your style, I was doubting to open a thread but didnt go for it because of missing some essential dev skills. However, many many users have this bug and I also read there was a specific fix in CM7. We first have to analyse the problem as deep as possible. I will try to help as much as possible. Not at home right now yet..

finally, someone's highlighting this basic problem that still persists no matter what rom I use. I have used various GB including DJ and CM7 and now official ICS as well as CM10, running CM10 on the old bootloader for nearly over a month, and have faced this wifi to 3g/2g switch bug in all these roms. the only possible solution has been without rebooting is to go into flight mode and then turn the radio on again. If you want, I can submit a radio logcat as well. Can someone please tell me which app to use for creating a radio logcat?

Here are my logcats of the situation.
Facing this problem also, for a very long time.
Works fine with CM7 (temasek build), and after that, newer roms all have this bug.

I have the same problem with ICS and CM10. With CM7.2 y have not the problem...the problem is very annoying

SOLVED:
in addition i had problems to connect to a Slovenian network operator.
checking my radio logs i discovered that during call or comunicating with network cell my device was sending wrong commands and i had strange CME errors.
Searching on XDA i found those problems in different threads but i found a pattern in baseband flashes.
It is not ROM related, every android version is having the same strange radio behavior.
The solution is to smartflash any baseband using erase CAL data ticked(i know! everywhere is written to not use it...)
and restore your IMEI that will be erased during flash operation.
I'M SUGGESTING TO WHO WANTS TO FOLLOW THIS GUIDE TO RESTORE YOUR OWN IMEI BECAUSE YOU COULD BLOCK SOMEONE ELSE IMEI.
DO NOT USE IMEI RESULTING FROM FLASH WITH ERASE CAL DATA!!!

* Showing full signal but not actually being connected (data does not go through, making a call turns the icon into a red cross) (sometimes a full reboot or just flightmode is needed to get back online)
* Generally bad/unstable 3g/2g connections
* Dropping wifi connection
* unable to make a call eventhough there is signal, 2nd try works
* Not switching to wifi when walking into a known network
Can any of the reporters confirm this works?

At the end if you tried all others fix like me, this was the last shot before selling the phone.
erase Cal data in my case didn't delete IMEI but was an invalid IMEI. When i restored mine everything was working perfectly.
my symptomes where similar to yours.... but i can't confirm that is the same situation.

the problem is not so spread but i think that with all this new roms is possible that will grow.

Sounds interesting! I will try it when I'm at home. It would be great if this annoying bug gets finally fixed. Sometimes when it appears I just want to throw the phone at the next wall...

I guess you have started your logs just before you deactivated wifi!? Because I think the bug happens earlier. My phone looses mobile data connection after a few Minutes and network status changes to UNKOWN:0. I'm quite shure that this is not intended because I tested it on another 2X an it doen't loose the mobile network even after several hours.

I think that happens on purpose. No point in keeping mobile data active while you're connected to WiFi, right?

I should make another logcat when it does succesfully reconnect to mobile data and compare it.

but anyway: i dared to use your method. And i think it works! I have to do a test with more time in standby but looks very promising!
