Hi!
Do get more bandwith then GPRS I trie to connect via Bluetooth-Dial-UP Data Connection - but without any success ;-(
I copied the Connection-Settings from my other ppc2003 device - paired XDA2 and Nokia Handy - but got no connection.
Is there any chance to start the connection manualy - like in the old bluetooth-manager?
I use a Qtek 2020 with the wm6ger image - tried also with a BA - same prob.
Any hints? looks like the connections is bound to GPRS in Registry - but where?
thx

Make sure the Nokia handset is configured to automatically connect to your internet APN. This should be configured in the Nokia connectivity settings: Menu -> Settings -> Connectivity -> Packet data -> Packet data settings. The Active acces point should point to the APN you wish to connect to. The attached screenshots show the required PDA settings.
Nokia settings and PDA settings are Ok.
I also use an Ipaq running ppc2003 - and there the connection is Ok.
I think there are still some settings from the originell Privider A1 - I found "hidden" connection settings in the registry and I think the settings force the connection via internal GPRS.
Are there any tools to manage connections and allow me to remove the Provider settings?
thx

Works
Changed Registry Setting
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\Prefconn Value
to the name of "my" BT connection
No idea why Connection Manager didn't allows me to change it...
thx

hy, last week I've bought an unbranded Qtek 9100. I flashed it with the latest Mr. Clean ROM, works without problems, the only thing is that i can't use the wifi anymore. My phone can't find my network or it can't connect. With the older firmware there was no problem. I've tried several things such as unsecured wlan etc but it will not work anymore. Even to downgrade the firm isn't possible.
Any suggestions???
Same
The same thing has happened to me. I have a Belkin WiFi router and with this ROM it sees the router but cannot connect to it.
Wireless LAN Configuration
For those having problems with their Wireless Home Networks with or without the ROM update, here are the instructions. Loads of the ones on the Internet are not very clear. Try those first If you like otherwise try this, I tried to make it easy I hope.…
Wireless LAN Configuration
Start Menu -> Settings -> Connections Tab -> Connections Icon
Select Advanced Tab -> Select Networks
Change the first dropdown to My Work Network
Change the second dropdown to T-Mobile GPRS
Click Edit on the My Work Network dropdown -> Proxy Settings Tab
Check the first box (This network connects to the internet), but NOT the second (This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet)
Now do the same for the T-Mobile GRPS settings in the edit menu, only check both boxes this time. For UK type in 216.155.165.50 as the proxy server.
In ZoneAlarm… (or other firewall I guess)
Allow 169.254.0.0 / 255.255.255.0 as Trusted Subnet
Allow 169.254.2.0 / 255.255.255.0 as Trusted Network
For ActiveSync make sure all its 4 exes have full access to Internet, act as Server and send mail are all ticked.
All should be working ok now.
Got the same problem... Yet only WPA-protected networks fail - unsecured works fine. No luck with twiddling the settings your way or any other.
Hi there,
I am new here but I am not new to forums so am a semi-n00b!! I have been searching around for an answer and there seem to be lots of people asking the question but no answers to it...
Is it possible to set up a WiFi proxy on the TyTN 2? I know it is possible to set up a proxy for gprs etc etc but there are no options for a proxy on WiFi. My school uses a proxy but I cannot find the options anywhere to allow me to configure the phone to do it!
Anyone got the answer to this annoying issue?
Thanks,
Will
Yes - in wifi settings, change the network adapter to connect to "work", then in connection settings, set "network that connects a pirvate network" to connect to work and edit work to add the proxy
I have changed the network adapter to work (settings > connections > wifi > network adapters) but when you say connection settings do you mean settings > connections > connections? as in this I do not see any options to connect it to work.. Or am I missing something obvious?
Does it make a difference that this is the Vodafone V1615?
Thanks,
Will
I have the same question. In the settings to set up the proxy, you have to choose Bluetooth, Cellular Line, Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G), or Hayes Compatible on COM1. Then it wants you to enter a phone number.
If I change the Wifi settings to connect to work it stops working.
oh, if I put cellular line it lets me put in the info. I think that might have worked. I will have to try it when I am connected at home. Now, is there any way to use the proxy just for email? I.e. I have to be connected via a VPN to my school in order to get my email on thunderbird.
Bumping up an old topic but my work LAN connects through a proxy server and I can't seem to get it to work.
I added the proxy info under "Work" for my Connection settings and in "WIFI", I chose "connects to Work" but it still doesn't allow me to access the internet.
I am no longer able to connect to the Internet via my home WiFi network. I am able to WiFi connect to the network without any problems, but when I try to use any application that accesses the Internet the phone looks for a GRPS connection. I do not have a data account attached to my sim as I live in Australia, and as far as that sort of thing go, we are a backwater…
The WiFi connection and access was previously working fine until I tried to disable the GPRS from trying to connect, as this would routinely bring up messages informing me that a GPRS connection could not be made. I do not know what settings I have changed but I cannot seem to reverse the situation.
I have soft reset a number of times, I have re-run the connection wizard, etc my current settings are as follows:
WiFi:
Wireless
Configure Wireless Networks –
.MyWirelessNetwork Connected
Configure Wireless Network-
Network Name: MyWirelessNetwork
Connects By: The Internet
This is a hidden network: unchecked
Configure Wireless Authentication-

Enter a name for the connection: Vodafone Internet
Select a Modem: Cellular Line (GPRS, 3G)
* no user name or password, because I don't have the service
Proxy Settings-
The network connects to the internet: checked
This network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet: unchecked
My Work Network
No connections have been set up here
Advanced
Select Networks
Programs that automatically connect to the Internet should connect using: Vodafone Internet Settings
Programs that automatically connect to a Private network should connect using: My Work Network

I do not know if this is all the info need to sort this out, but any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have done allot of customising and I really don't want to have to a Hard Reset. I can connect through all applications, if I am connected by USB.
Thanks
First you need to make sure your connection is set to use My Work Network as first priority. Next you need to make sure that the WiFi connection connects to WORK NOT the INTERNET. probably your problem, did the same thing on my 8125

Hi there,
Can someone please help by advising me on how to overcome this problem.
If I broadcast my SSID, the device connects fine, but when I stop broadcasting, the device will show that the network is unavailable. I did check the "This is a hidden network" checkbox option, in the settings.
Configure Wireless Network-
Network Name: MyWirelessNetwork
Connects By: Work
This is a hidden network: CHECKED
Configure Wireless Authentication-
Authentication: Open
Data Encryption: WPA2-PSK
The Key is Automatically Provided: unchecked
Network Key: **********
Key Index: 1
Please help,... many thanks!
Kind regards,
JonD
My device is the HTC TyTn II (Kaiser) running Windows Mobile 6 Professional
I just got the data plan and have yet to be able to connect to it? I've tried messing with the KaiserTweak settings. I have data connections enabled. I also enabled leave connection always on but that gave me the connection is not active icon. When I disable that function all I get at the top of the screen is an "H". What do the settings need to be in order to get the data connection properly functioning? I've yet to see the connection is active icon up top.
Update
I am able to update the weather on the HTC home page I'm using by enabling the data connection on all the time but the browsers still do not connect. I also don't see the active data connection icon.
did you uncheck proxy ? if not , do so
Proxy is already unchecked.
You do have a data connection the H means = HSDPA
(Like a 3G connection but faster)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HSDPA
Also try refreshing your settings (This works for me... and it's annoying!)
Start>Settings>Connections>Connections>Manage my existing connections.
Then "Next" thru all the settings until you get to the end. Press Finish. The data connection drops and the re-establishes.
See if your browser then works.
When I follow that path under connections I don't see a manage my connections option. All I see is "My work network" with 3 options under that. Add Modem, add vpn server and set up proxy.
Try this
Try these files. I use them whenever I flash a new rom and haven't had any trouble connecting since then.
One has all the medianet/isp settings and the other is for mms. I know you didn't say you have a problem with mms, but just in case
Just run and reset and everything should work.
Thanks, I'll have to try those when I get home. The browsers do connect to Wifi with no issues. Could there be a conflict with that? When there is wifi connection available which connection will it grab onto? Wifi of MediaNet? Those files won't affect the current wifi settings used to connect will it?

I've never had them interfere with WiFi since I use WiFi at home and MediaNet at work.
The settings cab is a pretty simple cab, it really just fills out all the information in the boxes to set up the connections but it saves a lot of time and gets everything right, for me at least, in one shot.
Let me know how it goes.
I tried those cabs and I still can't get any of the browsers to work. Nor my email. I keep getting a connect connect message. Anyone know the proper settings to get the browsers to work? However the weather is able to update on my HTC home page.
i dont nknow if youve tried this but everytime i flash a new rom i have to do this or ill have the same problem.. in your connections settings go through the meus until you find this device connects to: and by default it should say the internet.. but you have to select media net (att right?) cus thats the only way apparently media net is not the same as the internet!
ex: go to setings > connections > connections (icon) > advanced > select networks > "programs that automatically connect to the internet should connect using: and itll probably be set to my isp and you ewant it on MEdia net
Everytime I get outside of the range of my wifi network at home, my D2 tried to connect to the internet via my mobile phone provider.
How can I switch this off?
Thank you
HI,
it has already been discussed dozens of times, you can:
-install Modaco's NoData.exe
OR
-Use HD Tweak
OR
-Use Advanced Config
OR
-Remove you operator default connection (that was created with automatic configuration)
Thank you I appreciate the reply, will do that right away.
If you don't want to remove your operator default connection (in case you need it again) you can create a new "dummy" connection with nothing in it, then set the phone to use the dummy connection as default. It'll probably complain it "can't connect with these settings" every time, but if you don't mind that it works just fine...
