anyway to get rid of or change the call waiting sound, its so irritating
I think the easiest option is to turn off the call waiting function, you'll find that under the settings under Phone.
go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\CallWaiting and choose another .wav under sound

Is it possible to disable the "beep" sound you hear everytime you send a sms and get the notification box?
The box itself I dont mind, but the "beep" sound is really annoying
Got it
Create a "NoSound.wav" file and place it in \Windows of ppc.
In phone registry go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\Default
there change entry "Wave" to "\Windows\NoSound.wav"
Done

Start>Settings>Sounds and Notifications>Notifications...Click on the Events drop down menu and go to your Messaging alerts and and uncheck Play Sounds. Do it for each notification you don't want sounds played for
My old phone had a silent ring I could assign to my contacts, so that if they called the phone would not ring. Is there any way to do this with the TILT?
You can create a blank sound file and use that as the ringtone or you can use a third part application that filters calls and SMS like MagiCall:

How do I make a blank sound file. This is all new to me; so any help will be appreciated.

The quickest way would be to do a voice record in the notes program (make sure you are in a quiet environment), and then rename in silent, or blank. This file will show up in your rings list. This is also a cheap, quick way to make your own ringtones. Just find the song on the internet, record it with voice recorder, and then set as ringtone. Granted, the sound quality is not as good, but it is fine with me.
How to set your own incoming sms sound on the Kaiser?
I looked everywhere and there's no such option.
It really bugs me because the preset sound is short and hard to hear in noisy places.
Anybody knows how to do it?
you didnt look everywhere and it does exist!
start|settings|Sounds and Notifications|Notifications
everything you will want is in that dropdown box and another for the sounds
You got me there
All that I can say is that this is my first PDA and I'm still trying to get a hang of it.
Thanks a million
This must seem like a really stupid question(it even does to me) but I've had my tilt for 3 weeks and I can't seem to find where to turn on a notification for text messages. All I get when a text comes in is the screen lights up, no sound. And the ringer is set to loud. Will someone tell me how to activate this?

Mate i don't have my kaiser now but i am using another wm6 phone.
Go settings-sounds and notifications-notifications tab and try to find on events drop down menu about new text message notifications. Hope this was helpful.
Is there any way to change the sound that plays? I don't like any of the included WM sounds and was hoping to use a custom ringtone like I did on my old Sanyo flip, but I've moved them to the ringtones folder and they only show up for voice calls, not for messages.

Put the text tones you want in the windows directory and voila!
I was wondering if it would be possible to set a notification tone for when a call is answered and when a call is completed.
Basically I would like to use a ring tone from metal gear solid and allow it to make the connection and disconnection noises too (sound files attached)
the closest I could get through google searches etc was finding registry entries like:
"hkey_current_user\controlpanel\soundcategories\call start"
though I cannot seem to get it working. If any ideas it would be appreciated
