Diamond + VoIP + Asterix --> StepByStep-Guide? - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV General

Hello,
I'm new to VoIP/Asterix and asking if there is somewhere a step by step guide to set up my diamond to receive / dail calls from/to a Asterix-Server?
regards
chrfin

it's Asterisk - not Asterix
from there on you better just talk to whoever is running the server...

That's would be me (want to set it up at home with my private VoIP line).
Bringing the Server up should be no problem, but how to get VoIP enabled on the Diamond for that? Haven't found anything for VoIP on the Phone...

try searching for 'voip' - myself I am not interested at all in using voip - but there are others here and it is being discussed!

Bluetooth and Microsoft Voice Command

I know this has been beat to death in the Hermes forum but I have found a bit of difference with my Kaiser as compared to my Hermes.
I have quite a bit of experience with the TyTN hermes tweaks to get Microsoft Voice Command to work with the Hermes but not only will the Kaiser NOT work without the tweaks - I can't get it to work with the tweaks.
I followed the exact instructions like I always have listed in the Hermes Wiki section titled Utilities and Software Tweaks (including Bluetooth Voice Command installation and the Registry changes). However after the changes I cannot initiate a Bluetooth instruction via the Bluetooth device. If I initiate the call via the handheld it works great as far as stability and sound quality.
Any suggestions?
You don't have to do any tweaks on Kaiser! Just install VC 1.6. Assign Button 6 to Voice command. Soft reset. It should work. Works for me at least. The only think that doesn't work is a caller name announcement.

Ditto,
My Kaiser does announce incoming callers on the internal speaker when the setting is on "use bluetooth if available". I only use bluetooth with my car so I do not know what the behavior with a headset would be.
Does it work so that you can push the button on your Bluetooth headset or Bluetooth car adapter and then give the Voice Command through the headset? Mine didn't work. That's why I did the tweaks.
Also can someone tell me that with just the Voice Command installed what does the following registry key have (or does it even exist)?:
HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\VoiceCommand\Path = ????
AND
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Bluetooth\AudioGateway\BTAGExtModule = ???
Also if you go to settings and click on Voice Command - what version Voice Command do you have? I have v1.6.4622.0
Thanks

Can you please check build number of your VC 1.6?
Thanks.

Not terribly related, but v1.60.4622.0 is what my copy reports as well - though I'm still on a Hermes. I believe that's the retail release, I've not seen any indication of another one....

Hmm... Looks like I have build 1.60.4630.0
Hi, I have build v1.60.4622.0 and I noticed a fundamental difference when installing to my kaiser than when installing to my Uni; no registry entries get added to:
HKLM\Software\OEM\VoiceCommand
So this means that no bluetooth interaction would work. Therefore I added:
Dword entry: LaunchAPEnable (value 0)
and
String entry: Path (value \Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe
Rebooted and now voice command is initiated fine via bluetooth headset. Haven't tested notifications yet - I think there might still be a missing reg entry but I can't remember what it is!
Hope this helps someone....
Thanks. I'll try those registry changes. I hard reset last night to make sure that I got rid of all of the "tweaks" that had been done - the way I did for the Hermes.
I wonder where the other guy got version 30 instead of our version 22
I got mine from Handango - the Microsoft site doesn't have any updates except for version 1.5

No problem. v1.6.4622.0
I should have caught up on the thread first. Just to be claer, I do not hear the callers name through my car. I do hear it only on the Kaiser's speaker.
I'd love to get the announcements working over BT. It was sporadic on my TyTN with the registry hacks.

This needs to go into the Kaiser WIKI !!!
These registry changes are needed inorder to be able to initiate phone calls from your bluetooth device using Microsoft Voice Command. These registry changes worked GREAT and the initiation of calls from bluetooth work much better than with the Hermes and it's tweaks.
Of note, using Resco Registry editor, I had to put quotes aroung the Path entry to get it to work so my registry edit looked like this:
Path Value= "\Program Files\Voice Command\voicecmd.exe"
If anyone knows how to get attention to have this put in the Wiki please feel free.
Odd, I did not have to edit/add any registry settings and I can initiate calls/commands from my BlueAnt Z9 headset.

Are there any Standalone Answerphone Software's

Hi all,
due to the fact my provider has now started charging me for accessing voicemails and will not include voicemail access in my inclusive minutes I have turned off the voicemail answerphone on my t-Mobile MDA Vario III (Kaiser), what i'm looking for is a programto run on the PDA that will answer a call after say 45 seconds of ringing and act like an answerphone and record any messages direct to the PDA. I have searched for answerphone but without luck and the only program I can find via Google is iSecretary, but that aparantly isn't fully compatable with the Kaiser?. Has anybody got any ideas as to anything else available that will do this job, preferably free but if I have to pay for the ideal solution so be it.
Thanks

I'm afraid there is no solution, because of the limitations of the Kaiser (and many HTC devices) with the incoming sound.... (mic only)
A workaround should be available in iSecretary, recording loudspeaker -> mic, but this application crashed a lot on my Kaiser so removed it...
Also because it is not a nice solution anyway...everybody can 'enjoy' the voice message.

According to iSecretary the TYTNII is only "half supported" but it looks it would do everything you want.
- lifts the handset automatically when the preset time expires;
- plays the file to the caller;
- records your caller's message within the limits of preset time and hangs up;

I did try iSecretary and it worked on some of the calls, about 2 out of the 10 I made to my phone. And like "Optimistisch_nl" said: the callers voice is on loudspeaker while leaving the message. Also the message that I recorded to tell people to leave a message doesn't play either for the caller.

You won't find a solution unless you buy e.g. a Nokia.....
Guys, ALWAYS check out the Wiki first. I've answered this very question at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/inde...nswering machine for Windows Mobile released!
(also see the group http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Audio and call recording, answering machines )
In a word: no, don't expect much - WinMo is, by default, pretty much useless when it comes to local (!!) nswering machines. Should you really need them, go for Symbian.

I was also told that file sharing on WM is not possible by "CLEVER" people, but hypest told me that by setting up a ftp server on the ppc you could share folders that would be visible and able to be browsed by another ppc. Now if that is not "file sharing" then lets call it "sharing files". It works just the same as normal file sharing on Windows.

Are your entries on your sim card (just the phone number) or in the main phonebook memory (can you see the whole contact info including address and multiple phone numbers)? The reason I ask is the impression I had is the contacts sent over could only be the simple kind with just the name and 1 number.
I hope you have the numbers in main phonebook memory as I would love to get this working in my TL.
Also, did you use the jetware software? If so, would you mind letting us know in detail what you did as I'm still unsucessful.
Doesn't SAPsettings do this? I have it on my vario III and the phonebook downloads to my car (VW bluetooth kit) OK.

SAP settings would only enable you to access phonebook enterys that are on the sim card. I want to be able to get the actual outlook contacts. Just wondering if that is possible.
Oh, well I have no contacts on my SIM and my car display shows all my outlook contacts. Maybe it's accessing them through a different route. It just worked out of the box for me.
I have a Verizon XV6800 and a Acura TL and I have been trying to figure this out also. I have tried using the Jetware program but didnt get any where with it.
Please, if you figure this out PM me or shot me a email at [email protected] and let me know how you did it.
Thanks

I tried again today both with and without the Jetware bluetooth extension. Tried multiple settings... no luck. Everytime I press phonebook import, it says the currently linked phone does not support this function. Any one with any suggestions?
(I have the AT&T Tilt and a 2007 Acura TL with Nav)
Do you have SAPSettings in settings->system?
If not, maybe find a cab for it and give it a go. Sounds like you've hit a brick wall anyway.
Aside from that maybe it's a difference at the car end. Mine is a SEAT (don't think they're sold in the US but think VW) and works out of the box.

Voip?

Is their any possiblity to get voip programs working on diamond?
I have no use for voip, so I haven't tried it, but take a look at "Fring."
http://www.fring.com/download/
Beyond fring’s social appeal, it also saves money letting you make affordable local and international calls to landline and regular cellular numbers using your SkypeOut/SkypeIn account or almost any internet voice service (SIP) such as SIPNET, EuteliaVoIP, VoIPVoIP and VoIPTalk, even from non-SIP enabled handsets.

Be carefull. I just installed it and from what I understood you have to pay even when someone calls YOU !
In short, this "Skype Lite" connects to skype servers via your minutes, not voip. Nuff said.

Truphone has been ported to Android.
http://www.cyrket.com/package/com.truphone.android
Where's the package to be found? Doesn't seem to actually be on the market despite it showing at cryket. Is this location restricted?
Truphone does NOT work in packet mode. Here is the response I got from Truphone support:
"Unfortunately, Truphone on the Google Android is designed to work only with
Truphone Anywhere. It is not possible to make free calls over WiFi on that
handset. We apologise for the inconvenience caused.
If you have any further queries please reply to this email for assistance.

What would be neat is if someone could write an extension of some sort to the dialer that allows calling over SIP. All you would have to do is input your carrier information, set preferences on how you want calls sent/received through the VoIP connection and the phone itself would handle the rest.

Argh crap. Upon further investigation you're correct. Should have done my due diligence =(
I'll move it down to the partial-voip section and continue waiting for a full solution =)
You should also add Voxofon to the partial VOIP list. I tried it and it has to dial a US number before connecting you to your deisred number.

looking 4 a G1 VoIP solution (any experiences?)
Hi there,
greetings to all - 1st post here ;-)
I live in Chile and have an unlimited 3G data chip for which I can also get the most basic 10$ voice plan. We do have really good 3G coverage here!
I do make quite some calls abroad, thus I was looking into VoIP solutions for the G1.
Is anybody using their G1 as VoIP-device? ... what voip clients are you using? IScoot? ... what "carrier" do you use?
thx for sharing your thoughts.

I searched for "Skype" and "Lite version of Skype beta" came up. Is that what your looking for?
There is also an app called "iSkoot for Skype".
Here is the description.
"iSkoot for Skype delivers the features of Skype to your mobile phone. View your contacts, IM, make & receive Skype calls and place SkypeOut calls to phone numbers worldwide. iSkoot routes calls via the voice channel to offer unsurpassed call quality"
Sorry.... I don't subscribe to Skype so for me... it's not really worth downloading or really looking into but I hope that this points you in the right direction and is some help.
yeah i can see them on cryket but not on my market- did a search and finally found an apk for skype lite- will try it out tomorrow.
I saw the iskoot thread on here saying it wasn't available to those not in USA so maybe skype is the same.... either way, i now have it
Funny thing is i have the app APK Installer but being an adventurous person i had a crack at using the adb to install it- took me a while- for some reason i had to do adb remount and after that it worked perfectly!
Nothing available yet, just some "lite" versions that use your minutes.
