I have a branded but unlocked orange M3100, or Hermes, which is in mint condition.. the only little problem it has, is the plastic end of the stylus has snapped off, and I cant remove the stylus.. Im sure someone with tools could open the case and get it out....
Other than that its in mint condiotn, has screen protector on it, and has WM6.1 installed...
Ive been looking for a decent smartphone, but with a normal keybad on, as I hate having to open it up all the time....
Ive only just stumbled upon the S730, and it looks ideal...
Would anyone be interested in a swap..??? Lookint for similar condtioin hanset also...
Thanks
Im in the UK...
I'm in holland, I have a SIM lock free, HTC branded S730. With stock firmware, but I can flash WM6.1 for you.
Condition is mint, few scraches on the back, but front and both keyboards are in perfect shape.
I've been waiting for a long time for the price of the tytn 2 to fall within my budget. Is this a good time to get the tytn 2?
I know the diamond is way better and the touch pro will be out soon but i love the tytn 2/ touch pro form factor, and am not a big fan of the diamond.
and i know the touch pro will be way too expensive for a year at least.
any advice will be appreciated. Please keep in mind that this will be my first WM device.
Just reread your post. Looks like you already know what you want.
Get the Refurb Tilt from AT&T, it's only $149. I finally made the decision to go for it once I saw the price and considered the fact that my 8525 is starting to get unreliable.
I went through pretty much the same thought process as you; TyTN II is relatively old, newer HTC phones coming up...I got my TyTN II about two weeks ago and I don't regret it at all. It seems like it's going to take a while for the Touch Pro to get here, and it's going to be insanely expensive - probably at least twice as much as the current price of the TyTN II.
If the TyTN II offers the features you want, I don't see a reason not to get it. With a custom ROM and some other tweaks it runs beautifully; I don't anticipate ever buying a phone to replace this one unless it completely dies on me.
Hi guys,
I'm looking for an new / almost new / as new Kaiser to substitute my 1 yr old Vodafone v1605 aka HTC TyTn. I was tempted from the Diamond too but I think I couldn't live withouth the qwerty right now!!
So I ask you all some help to take my decision...
My budget is limited and as you can see I live in Italy where those devices cost ""an entire eye of your head"", as we say here , I still see TyTn at 600 / 700€ and TyTn II at 849 / 899€ in some shops and the minimal for the Kaiser I've seen is 799€ I can't absolutely afford
Of course I'm looking for get help from our best friend ebay and I see many XDA Stellar or Mda Vario III 2nd hand in great condition (or so is stated) at around 300 to 350€ shipped from UK(what I paid for my uk refurb TyTn).
I've just noticed the same device is produced by AT&T as 8925 and its prices are sometimes 150€ less if bought from U.S.A., even if I don't know if I'll have to pay custom's taxes on arrive!
I see many sites say the only difference is the missing front camera but...but reading the wiki here, it seems that putting a Kaiser rom onto an 8925 is buggy/problematic/gets the device work worst than before!?
At the opposite, I've seen many users telling they did put an htc rom onto at&t pda with no prob of sort!
So I'm VERY confused
What's the truth?
Ok, it can be unfunny to unlock an at&t at first, no prob for this, but after that, will I be able to try any rom I see here in the forums, as I was doing and still am with my TyTn?
What do you think about the prices I mentioned? Have you paid your Kaiser OR 8925 less or more? Which one do you suggest? Considering I've no prerogatives, do you suggest me to wait some more time like Christmas or so on to find better deals?
Many thanks to all willing to give me some help to do the next step
I tried many different roms (official/cooked ATT/HTC) on my AT&T Tilt and no problem so far. Beside the front camera, the keyboard layout is different and U could found a cab to solve it. (U could look at my signature for that)
Thanks bro,
just a few other questions.
What's a fair price for a brand new and for a 2nd hand tilt?
I see many 2nd hand tilt on eb for around 300$...isn't it a bit too much?
Oh, what about the sim-lock instead?
I found many threads saying at&t really gives you the unlock code at the phone but...will I, from Italy, be able to have it ""so easily""(assuming I understand spoken English) by calling in u.s.a.?
What about unlocking it by myself, is it possible for free or not, I'm still not sure after reading some threads!?
I just replaced my European TyTNII with an unlocked US version of the TyTNII. I got the US version through Newegg.com, I'm not sure if they ship where you live.
The phone is the exact same as the Tilt it is missing the front camera and the keyboard is different.
I swear the US version is built better thatn the European one and it comes with 6.1 installed already.
$300 is a great price. The tilt is $450 NIB w/o contract.
550 euro....tenuto...maniacalmente?? con un anno abbondante di garanzia residua...
Thanks to all for the help!
Just to update my story ... I was very nearly going for a tilt when I noticed GREAT offers from my own mobile operator H3G!
Well, actually it's great for my who currently pay 9€/month for 50MB/day of internet (Naviga3).
Since I'm very happy with it, there's an offer of a new EU TyTn II at 399€ with a subscription for 2 years at the promotional cost of 14,16€/month forever (instead of 29) with 1Gb/month and a lot of free calls (I presumably will have to pay only SMS and the 0,15€ fee at call opening (don't know how you say it, sorry )).
Also, there is a Diamond for LESS : 299€, same plan...
Actually, I'm really confused and don't know which one to choose...I love my qwerty but, you know, diamonds shine...ok, now for long with 900mAh
I'm also considering the option to sell my TyTn and wait for the Raphael to see what's its price with my op...this offer ends within the end of September, don't know if they will add it in time!
Perhaps I should ask some diamond users coming from qwerty if it they can live without it!
@sharkonholiday
Assolutamente troppo! Grazie comunque.
Can't afford! Thanks anyway.
Where can I found The cab for USA-->ITALIAN keyboard??
I payed my tytn II on Ebay USA about 270 euros NEW!!
:°D ancora devo provarlo sto aspettando sto caspita di corriere *_*
@ templare3000
Wow, that's a great price! Let me know if it's all right!!
For the keyboard, if you own a Tilt (AT&T brand) I think you need this cab: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334911 but keyboard will not become "italian", simply it'll work as it should
Oh, perhaps you need a cab to install the t9 Italian dictionary and so on, don't you? If you need, just ask, its on my microsd already
@all
any advice is the welcome

Well guys, I still have got to decide between Diamond and TyTn II
I'm confused and I'm proud I have been recently, since the price of both has gone to 199€ and 299€ respectively (100€ less for both)...
hey, i was in the same situation as you recently, i bought a sealed brand new v1616 (tytn II) off ebay for £200, just put my vodafone sim in and everything works great, would def recommend.

Scrap the Diamond idea and get a Diamond-based ROM for the TyTN (I'm currently using L26 8/27/08 Diamond-based ROM and I LOVE it.)
I personally love my TILT. I've cycled through several makes and models of phones (Motorola, Nokia -sadly-, Samsung, HTC) through the years and have to say I've been more than impressed by my TILT above all others. I bought mine off of Ebay myself when my Wizard (8125) got trashed (it was my 3rd Wizard too...lol) and got it for $380, s&h included so $300 is a sweet deal.
Only problem I run into w/ the TILT is simple expected issues that arise when you go from branded to cooked ROMs. Simple things like a TyTN-based keyboard input even though my physical keyboard is still "TILTed" but that gets fixed with a simple cab file.
The only other thing I could even say is that the Kaiser is left-handed (whyyy???! lol) and it's a pain in my butt since I'm right-handed BUT once you adapt (which takes all of 2 days) then you rarely ever notice it.
All in all, I love my phone and so will you =]
They made a real solid unit when they built this thing. Only thing my phone doesnt do that I could use is microwave food for me (and I'm sure with some tweaks it might actually pull THAT off too! haha!)
So try out your Kaiser before you scrap it back on Ebay. Once you play with it and flash yourself a new ROM then you'll be up and running. Just make sure to HardSPL your phone and invest in a free copy of Sprite Backup cab and make a full copy of your phone before flashing and you'll be good to go!
Good luck no matter which one you pick. HTC rarely goes wrong on any phone they make. Keep us updated on which one you pick in the end.
Best regards,
HTCOmega
Thanks for your comments, I appreciate every single line
I've taken a "so-called" decision about what I am going to do.
Well, Diamond is style only and I understand I would still LOVE my TyTn with Diamond-based ROMs I am already using (abusalza's rulez, it flies now) if only it stays switched on all the time.
I've opened it so many time and I got the situation much better but actually it often switches off while I drive, and rarely switches off while I walk
I'm just here after 2h of bikeing and it remained switched on in my pocket for example.
The fact is that it's very annoying as it is now.
Thanks to an user in another thread (sorry, don't remember your name mate) I've tried a good site which I hope will help me to get it repaired by soldering by myself the battery connectors.
Having done this, is it a bad end or a new birth, I will see how much I can take and what I can buy.
Of course I will decide within the end of September, due to the end of the offer mentioned. Well, they've already postponed its end for 2 months, but I need a new phone and I don't like to risk: if it ends the abbo goes from 15 to 29 €/month and I can't afford!
I hope they'll sell the Raphael within the end of the month too, so I can consider buying it.
But you all convinced me: I need a qwerty, so
st choice: Raphael (if it's affordable!)
nd choice: TyTn II
last choice: Diamond.
Thanks guys!!
P.S. Two days ago I went to a shop near here and I saw a TyTn II in "super offer occasion etc..." and I asked for its price...the boy at the shop put it in my hands and lol, I was trying to open it from the right-side, WTF have they done lol??? I was thinking..mmh...that's a bad product, it's so hard to open it has to be damaged lol, then he showed me how to do...I felt so stupid!! You're right mate, HTC is strange sometimes haha
Anyway, it was 450 2nd hand (ok mint condition but used!)...no way
Ooh guys, just to let you know, I'm gone...just bought with/for my dad a Nokia N95 8gb, and I'm using it for me right now.
He wanted it and I will give it to him +/- in December, when I should decide what to buy for myself!
I saw TOO many news out there, and I didn't feel a TyTn II, is it Tilt or not, was the right choice with all these great new devices ready for the market!
Also, just some days after my findings, suddenly my funny operator raised the price up again of 100€ (299 diamond and 399 tytnII), and they are totally too costly considering there's a 2 years plan to pay
This 95 is a really great product, you know, it only misses a touch screen
Thanks for all your efforts and guidelines, will surely ask again when I'll be unsure again, within December
Hey, guys!
A friend of mine bought the Diamond before ~2 Months and it was his first pocket pc. He's from a rich family and doesn't understand a lot from pocket pc's, so he offered me to trade my Kaiser for his Diamond.
My Kaiser is almost 1 Year old and has scratches, but this is no problem for him. He said he's either going to give the Kaiser his sister or he's going to sell it to a mate of him, who is searching for a Kaiser to buy.
So... now about me i'm 17 years old and I think the Kaiser is too "business" for me, if I take the Diamond I'm going to miss the QWERTY, but actually it won't be a big problem, because I use the QWERTY only for typing SMSes and surfing, not much other...
What do you think? Should I trade it?
I wouldnt be too sure about trading it.
I recently went from a S710 (qwerty) -> Touch Cruise (none qwerty) -> TyTN II (qwerty) and ive found that, in truth, going fro a qwerty handst to a full touchscreen is horrible.
Admittently the upgrade to a VGA screen wouldnt be a nice perk but id stick with youre TyTN II.

Exactly my reason of not wanting the diamond or the iphone! a slide out keyboard is WAAAY to convenient since i email from my phone for work all day long!
qwerty keyboard ftw! tho idk...the htc touch HD....for me its between that and the touch pro...or mayb the new samsung phone :S
edit: U should trade for the diamond, sell it and get the touch pro
