I've searched the forums several times over and haven't been able to find a solution to my problem.
For some odd reason, whenever attempting to send an MMS (using wm6_threaded for threaded messaging) I get an error message saying that I am out of memory and to close some windows and try again (even when only the messaging window is open). My internal memory has 58.13mb of storage and 66.70mb of program memory free. To be safe I even uninstalled SpB pocket plus and reinstalled it to the storage card, but I am still getting the error message.
Any ideas?

i don't know what you have on your device .. but i can tell you i use my device very heavily and still hardly ever run out of program memory... Did you try clearing pie caches etc.?? sometimes that can cause your device to perform slowly too. If all fails you could use task manager to see which app is taking most cpu memory.
I had spb mobile shell, pocketplus, dairy, and alot more apps running at same time and still didn't run out of memory.
I have cleared the PIE cache using clear temp and my task manager is showing no active apps running. And it only seems to be showing this message when sending/receiving MMS (occassionally with SMS as well).
I'm using the stock At&t ROM w/o bloatware and I'm running HTC home, Spb pocket plus, quickmenu and weather panel on the today screen. I've been considering flashing a new ROM to my TILT, would this remedy the memory issue?
To me it seems more like a bogus error message from the program. Too many programs use "out of memory" as a generic error when nothing is defined for a specific error...
Are your MMS settings correct in the application?
I uninstalled the Wm6_threaded app and the problem has ceased. While we're at it.... anyone have any suggestions for a threaded messaging app or should I just go ahead and upgrade to a wm 6.1 rom?

i would say sure ... proceed with upgrade. if you don't like it you can always revert to wm6 just make sure you do reading on rom upgrading and flashing before you proceed.
I've done a lot of research on it, I've just been very hesitant due to worry over bricking my phone. Also, it's not going to go over well with the Mrs. once I start flashing ROMs, she thinks I play with this thing too much as it is.
Got to take the leap at some point I guess... would you recommend attempting to use Sashimi to reinstall apps with my first flash? Or to go ahead and do it the old fashioned way? I don't want to complicate things too much, so I'll take the baby steps if that's the best route.
I've just started using Sashimi, and it is dope. That being said, if it's your first flash it may be worthwhile to do it the old-fashioned way the first time. That way you can know if all programs are compatible etc. with the new ROM, or that something isn't already included on the new ROM that you're trying to install again.
Thx for the tip, I was leaning that direction for my first flash. However I have one more question before I take the plunge, what effect will flashing have on my purchased and registered programs (i.e. Pocket Plus, Mobile Shell)? Will I need to register these under a new serial or with they remain fully functional after a new ROM flash?
Of course you will have to reinstall and re-register them... unless you do the doohickey magic of SPB Backup 2.x and use the "ROM Upgrade" option. I did when moving up from Leo's V5 to V9 and it worked... I think. The phone threw a few tantrums since and I have no way of knowing whether it was restore-related or just plain spite. Plus, today I upgraded again, and NOT used the backup.
Why "under new serial", BTW? Just use the same serials over again and Robert is your close relative
Besides, you can use most applications for like 14 days free of charge, and your grace period begins anew with a new ROM + new installation.
Thx for the tips guys. I'll give it a go this weekend when I've got some time to sit down with my phone on the home cpu.
Whenever i'm in doubt and don't feel like spending days on the forums trying to get a GOOD answer, i just reflash and fix WHATEVER problem there was, 30 minutes of reflashing/reconfiguring is easier than a couple days of headache. When in doubt reflash.
I get the same message on the touch diamond, which is WM6.1. I can't seem to find a CAB so I can send MMS. does anyone have a solution? I am using Telus.
Has anyone managed to stop SMS from working? Something I've tweaked or installed is preventing me from sending messages - when I tap the SMS option nothing at all happens. I don't seem to be able to receive them either. With all the fiddling (Kaiser Tweak, GPRS Monitor, SBP etc) who knows what I've done. Just hoping someone else may have stumbled over the same problem before I have to reset everything back to original (It's the only fault).
Thanks
Are you able to compose an SMS at all?
Have you verified that your Text Message Service Center number is not blank?
Please provide more information. Phone, ROM, Carrier, etc...
Thanks for the interest,
I'm using WM6 standard ROM 1.82.707.0.WWE (ie not cooked) on the Tytn2, the service centre number is there and is correct according to the carrier (Telstra Australia).
It used to work fine so I'm assuming that I've tweaked something I should have left alone, or one of these installs has jammed it up - just no idea what!
If I pull up a contact and tap the 'Send Text Message' option nothing at all happens, just sits there looking at me! I don't seem to be able to receive texts either.
Installed are the standard apps plus Google Maps, GPRS Monitor, Kaiser Tweak, Resco File Explorer, TomTom, SPB mobile Shell and Diary, QuickMenu.
I know it's a tricky one to fix from a distance (so many settings, so little patience) but any thoughts would be appreciated.
I had the same problem a few months ago and tried everything. Defaulted my tweaks and adv config etc. Eventually I had to reinstall my rom which is a cooked rom and all came back and have not had any problems since then. Hpefully you do not have to do this. You should try a cooked rom.
Ok I want to take a shot at this.....
Ok Does Telstra have the ability to send SMS to mobiles from their website? If so try sending one to yourself.
Next. Go into Messaging, Menu -> New -> SMS. Type in your mobile and Send.
Oh and Uninstall The SPB product Soft Reset and try again.
Let me know If that works.
Can't find a way to send sms from telstra (easily) so tried from another mobile. The other mobile says it can't send the message. I'm (almost) sure this is my phone rejecting it rather than a network of other phone's fault.
When I tap on Messaging in the menu nothing happens - doesn't take me anywhere at all. Same thing if I tap on 'send text message' option in contacts.
Removed the spb stuff, did a soft reset, still no go.
Keep the thoughts coming though. In the end it would probably be easier and quicker just to hard reset now, but it's the challenge of figuring it out that's interesting isn't it? It's going to be one of those dead simple slap your forehead things I reckon.
Thanks for all the help so far.
Have you tried reinstalling the Arcsoft SMS/MMS client? There are many different versions floating around XDA.
OK it's fixed. Here's what I did:
Discovered that the 'Messaging' menu item in the start menu pointed to a file called tmail.exe
Used file explorer to navigate to tmail and ran it directly
Fell over laughing when it actually ran
From that time on it works via any link, such as the start menu and contacts option to SMS
I have no idea what that's all about but I'm really happy to have it back - although I haven't tested sending and receiving texts yet
Interestingly a very similar thing happened to Mortscript - I have a script that rotates the screen and runs TomTom (not mine, found on xda-dev) and it wouldn't work either after all this fiddling until I ran it directly rather than through any links. Now it works fine too.
If anyone knows /why/ it happened I'd be interested.
Thanks for all the support. Really great knowing there's such a community around.
Alrighty then, spoke too soon. Now it works when the sd card is out, but not when it's in. Same old problem, tap on messaging and nothing. With the card out of the slot, messaging appears. What the heck is this?! Could it be something to do with where messages are stored? I'm also getting this storagecard2 problem each time I take the card in and out which is easy enough to fix but could be contributing I suppose. Any more ideas?
Edit: I repaired the storagecard2 directory issue, cleaned up all the references to storagecard2 in the registry (about 4), unticked the option to use the card to store attachments, and it seems to work. I've also re-synched and re-installed spb mobileshell. Last time it seemed to fail at that last step but this time is still working. Even after a final soft reset. I haven't reinstalled spb diary.
Has me stumped but works again now. Sorry to bore you all with this but someone may have a simple answer and the ordeal might help someone else I hope.
Based on all of these issues, I would definitely suggest re-flashing your current ROM again (not just a hard reset), and do a full format of your SD card outside of the phone. It sounds like you've got some major corruption going on...

Yes delete the storage card directory, if it gets corrupt the unit won't send or receive SMS.
Speaking from experience here
Thanks guys,
I've re-done the storage card and all is still working ok. I'm reluctant to reflash while it's working so I'll wait to see how long it keeps up.
Thanks again.
I seem to be having an issue now and then when I start typing in landscape mode, the phone switches back out to the landscape home screen. I have to switch back to the app while in landscape mode in order for me to continue.
Is there a way to stop this from happening?
Thanks!
thank God i've found someone who has similar problem like me! hopefully someone can guide us how to solve this problem.. many thanks!
I get the same problem, it does it in all different programs.
yeah, but it's odd because it only happens after some time of usage. Once I restart the phone, it seems to be ok again.
Well I must say that's why I've quit using RomeOS' ROM's, I had the same issue but not on the PROVEN ROM so I'll continue to use that one...
I have this problem, too. I'm using the stock att rom. Instead of rebooting to fix, you can just disable and re-enable tf3d.
It's also worth noting that a guy I work with just got a new fuze, and he has this problem as well. He hasn't installed anything on the phone yet, so that proves it's a problem with tf3d.
How i fixed mine...
This happend to my when I tried to install a different
HTCvolumeControl.dll
Maybe your rom has a bad HTCvolumeControl.dll
Try deleting HTCvolumeControl.dll and the rom will re-create after a restart.
If that doesn't work... maybe the rom has a bad HTCvolumeControl.dll
i have the same problem.. and i havent installed anything on my phone yet!
i have the same problem too,(i am running the stock att rom) mine switches back to portrait them back to landscape and back again a couple of time before stopping, i tried restarting a it works fine for a couple of minutes then it happens again, any help will be much appreciated
it has something to do with the customer taskbar icons, i only fixed it after removing sdkcerts, and the custom icons i had.

Thanks for sharing.. Would you mind to explain more detail?.. where is the "sdkcerts" ?
yeah, share information with us =)
I can't believe more people aren't talking about this problem. I deleted HTCvolumeControl.dll with no luck. I also uninstalled sdkcerts and even my custom icons. The problem still comes back. A second guy I work with got a fuze, and his has this problem straight out of the box. So that's 3 that I personally know of.
To clarify, the programs don't actually close, they just lose focus when the keyboard is opened, and then go into the background as the landscape menu comes to the front. Today, I noticed that opera goes to the background when I rotate my phone... the screen turns to landscape, then the task bar shows up, then it kicks back to tf3d.
Another way to test if the problem is happening is to goto the messaging tab, click to create a new message, then just open the keyboard. Sometimes I start typing, and then the phone comes up accepting the keys I'm typing. Then the landscape menu comes up on top of that.
I also changed my registry to disable landscape mode in tf3d. I thought that solved the problem (I didn't miss having the stupid landscape menu), but it still happened, only when I opened the keyboard, the phone came up. If I didn't hit any keys, it would disappear and whatever program I was in would come back. That was only slightly less annoying than before.
The past 2 days, I've been constantly testing to see if the problem was happening (restarting tf3d makes it stop for a while), and it didn't happen for 2 straight days. It started again today, and I hadn't touched my phone since I had last tested for the problem. In between that time, I received 2 emails. I didn't test before I opened the emails, but one had a link that I clicked on, and then the problem happened in Opera when I rotated the phone. So something happened when I either received the email, opened the email, or clicked the link to goto Opera.
I'm sure if we can pinpoint exactly what is causing this problem to start happening after a restart, we can fix it... or figure out some sort of workaround. So to anyone that has this problem, please post as many details as you can about what apps you were running or anything that could help determine the root cause of the problem. Only then can a fix be developed. I'm already digging all over the registry trying to find something to change that would fix this, but it's hard to fix something when you don't know what's causing the problem.
Is this only a fuze problem or are other TPs are experiencing this??
just to confirm im having the same problem on the normal version of the Touch pro (stock ROM)
a little pointer too: When you want to send an sms do the following. Start new sms, open the keyboard. Then WAIT a second (dont start typing immediately). Then start typing.
For some reason this does not seem to exit my messaging. If i start typing immediately it sometimes closes
To remove sdkcerts, download the .cab here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=67540&d=1201425248
i have a very similar problem that's been driving me crazy!!! on my TP everytime i slide out the keyboard when i have an app open in which i choose to type via the keyboard, my dialer pops up!!! The exact same thing happens as soon as i slide it back away. Very frustrating is the "g" rated way of describing this issue. FYI - even had this problem before any installations on a brand new device fresh out of the box.
yes.. i'm having that dialer problem too.. everytime i open my keyboard even in SMS mode or Opera, my dialer will pop-up.. very annoying...
i've also tried disable TF3D and use normal Today screen, the dialer problem and programs exit problem when opening the keyboard are still happen !!! wtf is wrong with the landscape mode??!! i've tried searching anything can be edited in registry but i'm too afraid i'm going to break my TP or cause me to hard reset
to all experties, pls help us...
p/s: i'm using stock ROM, for all custom made ROM users, do these problems happen to u? ...

Hi everyone,
I could use some help from the experienced TYTN owners out there:
I just purchased a used HTC TYTN II (my first pocket PC). The person who owned it previously downloaded the Ulitmate X.V4 ROM and Manila 2d into the phone already (took me a while to figure out what the "xda-developers" screen was that popped up every time I turned on my phone!).
1st problem- tried to simply customize my today screen by selecting items to be displayed in the 'settings>personal>today' tab. I check off the items I want as per the operation manual (i.e. tasks, appointments) but after clicking 'ok' nothing has changed on the today screen. When I go back into the settings, what I checked is no longer checked. Frustrating!!
So then I thought maybe this problem would be solved by adding a customization program. Downloaded the Manila customizer and a theme off this site (as a newbie, learned to download cabs by trial and error- couldn't find any clear cut beginner instructions on the internet on how to do this- so who knows if I've done it right). Loaded the theme this didn't help me customize what's on the today screen nor did the background change (only the title bars and menus changed)- no idea why or how to fix this.
I also tried to download the HTC home plugin, HHC customizer and appearances files. Managed to successfully download the customizer and appearances but the app won't run because I don't have the HTC home plugin and this file won't download. Every time I try I get the message: "installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions." What does this mean??
Basically, all I want is a today screen that is customized to show my appointments, tasks along with the clock, calls, etc. And a nice theme would be great. Why can't I do this?! If anyone has suggestions or some links to beginner information that would be awesome.
I would also like to be able to download apps and run them... I have a TomTom GPS moblie disk but considering I can't even display my appointments on my phone, getting this to work will be mission impossible! Again, anything that will point me in the right direction would be much appreciated!
Jenn
u need to unload your manila in order for you to show all those today menu
OMG thank you so much- it's all good now. I sadly would not have figured out such a simple thing and unfortunately I could not find anything on the internet that would explain this. The guy who had the phone before me obviously knew what he was doing and downloaded all kinds of stuff, which is great... but then it made the official manual useless while learning the phone!!
I have my tasks/appts on the today screen like I wanted but I'm sad that I don't have the "actions" tab with touchflo anymore
Hello all, I've been reading on these forums for a long time, but this is my first post as I was not able to find a solution while searching. This is what I have,
AT&T Tilt
With Windows Mobile 6.1 Flashed (DuTTy ROM, can't remember which one exactly now, Hybrid something I think)
I also had the TouchFLO 2D (Manilla) Home Screen, but recently switched back to the HTC Home screen thinking that that may have been the cause which didn't help)
I believe my phone gets the texts messages and the emails, because my phone notifys me with a buzz when I do, and I notice that the number of emails/texts changes. But, on the TouchFLO 2d, it says "No Messages" for each, and on the HTC home screen, it has the number for each, but when I click on them, it does nothing. I've tried clicking start -> Messages, and still does nothing.
A few other programs I have which may interfere, Slide 2 Unlock 2, and Pocket CM.
The Manilla 2D is version 21 or 22, can't exactly remember right now.
Any tips or hints are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Also, I've tried power cycling, removing the battery for a while. Removing the SIM, and power cycle. And reinserting the SIM. Still nothing.
I know that if you search you will find. but i have had this same problem and have searched and could not find a solution for awhile. but like others say google is your friend. here was what i now do when this happens to me i use a program called advanced task manager and under processes i find TMAIL.EXE and end its processes and now i can go into my messages and email. i suggest to try that.
Ok Everyone.. when someone needs help.. most of them have searched and can;t find the answer.. that is why they are asking for help.... Telling them to go look some more when they most likely have is sort of elitist and rude... I have had problems before where I almost hard reset my phone, when there were simple fixes out there....
I had a very simmilar problem, and after doing a lot of research myself, I found this was my problem.. I was storing my attachments and messages on the storage card to save room... There is a file/folder in the root directory of the storage card called INBOX.mstXXXXXX where the X's are numbers... Just erase that folder... and reboot the phone... The forum where I found it also reccomended that I turn off the option to store the files on the SD card, but I am still doing it anyways... When I erase the folder it corrects the problem immediately.. and if my TXT stops working again... it is easy enough to fix.. The only problem is the messages you are getting now while it is not working will not be there when it is fixed.. but all your previous ones will be... I hope this helps!

Thanks for you help!! Hinted by Teej's suggestion, I didn't go as far as deleting the directory, but I just ejected my MicroSD and put it back in and that worked! Thank you so much for your help, and thanks for the quick responses everyone.
