Hey guys,
My 8125 recently stopped being able to allow my wifi to function properly. I was running the factory WM5 and things were going well, then out of the blue the wifi disabled and refused to become enabled. In an attempt to fix the issue (as well as use Office 2K7 to sync w/ my phone) I flashed to Xplore 1.1 (Wm6). Sadly this did not fix the issue as the wifi will still not enable. I added the two registry edits of HTCPreloadStatus 1 and HTCPreloadWifi 1 to no avail. The device is relatively new, my previous 8125 whited out forcing Cingular to send me this one just last month.
I can provide pics and any other information that may be needed to whomever can assist me.
Thanks a million guys,
Jake
If you are using XDA CommManager (10 buttons) delete the following entry in the registry, else something else is amiss... sorry bud..
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\CommManager\WLAN

Try flashing the Tmobile 2.26 stoc ROM. See if it works there.
If that doens't help, I'm afraid you may have a hardware problem.
Good luck
I've spent the last two days searching the XDA forum and Wiki. I've used Google to search for answers also. I've installed Kaiser Tweak and disabled all sleep entries. I've checked the registry to verify that these were turned off. I've checked the ../RIL/Backlight entries.
None of this has fixed my backlight/end of call issue. Have I missed something?
I know that this has been discussed ad nauseum. I've spent hours researching this and working to fix it since getting my Tilt last Friday. Nothing has made a difference.
Help.

When I received my Tilt a few days back, I used Sprite backup to do an 'upgrade restore' to my Tilt from my 8525.
VERY BAD IDEA!!!
Apparently there were some 'artifacts' from the 8525 that prevented KaiserTweak from fixing the backlight/call end issue.
After a hard reset, KaiserTweak now fixes the issue as reported in other threads.

You can (in theory) do the "upgrade restore" on the SAME DEVICE if you run their support utility before you upgrade your Rom.
It was never meant to cover changing devices, just upgrading Roms like from at&t 1.57 to at&t 1.62 or from WM 5.0 -> WM 6.0 -> WM 6.1 on the same hardware (family) i.e. either the exact same Tilt or moving from one Tilt/Kaiser to a new/replacement one.
Just learned that one the hard way my good man!
Thanks for putting the meat on the bones of my screw up. Sometimes the best service I offer is being a warning for others.

Hello,
I installed Windows 6.1 on my HTC today (The official rom from HTC Club), and i realised GPS was not working ... neither on googlemap or tomtom, it is waiting signal, but not finding satellites.
Does anyone know where i could find windows 6.0 HTC rom, or is there a fix? (Searched on forum, found somepost with people having the same problem, but didn't find any solutions ...).
Rom is 1.65.16.25 (Official HTC Rom)
Tried this, but it doesn't seems to work (And value is back to -- after phone reset.
Tried GPSTest, and it got stuck at "GPS starting up".
thanks in advance.
I'm no expert, but sometimes it's the radio that causes the problem. Try 1.65.16.25, it works fine to me
Well, my rom is 1.65.16.25
It will work if you give it long enough!!!! The problem lies with the quickgps data that for some reason is not being used to get a quick fix. Read this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397728
How long did you allow you phone to receive the signal? Once I had to wait for 10 min plus to get a lock after a rom upgrade.
I am sure you we not moving while trying to get a lock?
Did you do a hard reset after the rom upgrade?
MODS can we close or merge this thread as it is a duplicate to what has recently been discussed here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=397728
It works but you have to wait..... took me around 20+ mins to get fixed which equals useless....
also the battery life is sh*t... the new radio is soooo poor
what have you done about your crippled GPS? flash a few radios and then bare with the horrible fix times, or have you actually found a way to fix this? I wanna know how many people on this forum put up with crippled GPS.
I personally chose the option of putting up with the crippled GPS, ive tried to fix it but haven't found anything. Assisted GPS freezes so i have to leave it turned off. Today when i actually needed it and realized it took more than 5 minutes to get a fix, that really annoyed me..
not sure how i rank with those 2 options but i just keep my quickgps updated and then run GPStest get a fix before then start igo8 and fix time havent been too bad...been using the radio in my sig
edit: i have agps turned off via advancedconfig

hm...but even then that would be considered "crippled" gps. you still need to jump through hoops just to get it to work right. and you have to have the right radio...i remember when there was no wm6.1, no matter what i would flash to, i never had to switch radios, my gps just connected instantly. no jumping through hoops.
i would say your option is that you "put up with your crippled GPS" but that is just my opinion.
One of the lucky guys i guess... No problems with GPS after the 6.1 update. I use a stock ROM and Radio (in my sig) and i use Destinator 7 for GPS. Takes me about 2 mins to get a fix and GPS runs smoothly. QuickGPS get updated when i connect via USB...
dont use GPS on my TYTN II, i have a standard Kaiser for that
Well
My GPS is going fine from the start till now. I've flashed many roms and many many radios. My GPS was working everytime with various things. I get a fix in 1-2 minutes. 3 is really max awaiting time. I'm using A-GPS without any problems.
ROM&Radio as in my signature.
Cheers,
Chris
Hey guys, 1-2 or 3 minutes is not considered as quick gps fix Have in mind that gps fix was about 15-20 seconds in WM6 roms

I must try it today once again after soft reset, and i will post my results as i get back to home. But its quite good for me.
I get a fix in about 90 seconds using TomTom or iNav. But if I use GPS Test, then the fix time drops to like 30 seconds.
I'm currently running Death v4.1 and the 1.58.25.27 Niki radio.
alright, ive made the test.
42 seconds in GPSTest, 59 in my AutoMap5 and 62 in GarminMobileXt. posting from Kaiser outdoors.
Cheers,
Chris
Rom: Hyperdragon IIIs
Radio: 1.65.20.29
QuickGPS regularly updates
AGPS turned on
GPSTest fixes in about 30 seconds
Tomtom 7 fixes in about 45 seconds; instant if GPSTest was started first
so... no, I don't feel my gps is crippled at all.
If 'attempted to fix it' includes emailing HTC (and only getting the automated response saying they received the message) and phoning HTC twice about it, I guess I fit into the second group. I've not strayed from HTC supplied firmware at any stage and don't want to. It's their responsibility to fix it, not mine and if they can't they should get Qualcom to update the chipset drivers/radio for them to fix it.
I wasn't happy with my sync time in 6.1 with the radio that I had (i.64.xx.xx) and i just flashed 1.58.25.17 on my phone and it synced in 1:30-2 mins fro ma cold start outside (needed a reason to walk away from the cube). good enough for me.
Mass/AT&T/Death 4.1
2-3 minutes doesnt seem like a good time to me...especially when there was once a time it could get a fix within 5-25 seconds.
I have heard good things about the stock roms, and i ALMOST upgraded to it, but then i remember they aren't as fast as some of our cooked roms here on the forum, and the fact that stock roms are loaded with a bunch of crap and have less memory.
I'm gonna knock on wood before and after I type this:
*knock on wood*
Since using Tomtom v7 extracted from Diamond, my Tilt has not disappointed me with initial GPS fix.

the problems people are experiencing and the seeming lack of issues for other people with the same ROMS must have something to do with the Kaiser variants people are using. I can think of no other reason why I can have the same ROM, radio and SPL as someone else and yet cannot get a fix, while they can. I have an Orange branded TyTn 2 from the UK. I am currently using the Dutty Diamond V1, hard spl 3.29 and the 1.65 radio that comes with the diamond ROM. I believe my Kaiser model number is KAI130. Does anyone else have the same model and ROM etc as me and is able to get a fix?
Ive tried 5 different ROMs and umpteen radio, disabling and enabling A-gps - even installing different quick GPS cabs. No luck.
I never had any problems like this on my N95, and everyone criticise its GPS!
hi,
i use now last updated htc rom in french (wm6.1) with tomtom 6.0 and quickgps V1.0 from htc.
Effectively, it takes now more time (1..3 minutes) than before (few seconds, under wm6.0) to get a fix, but it works has before.
Seem that the fix takes now much more time...
May be you are right, wm6.1 has somthing to do wuth t is problem.
Best regards,
Laurent

I have an AT&T Tilt, I live in the US.
I'm using Radio 1.64.06.04
Im using Dutty's WM6.1 4/29 Rom
I have the Qualcomm 7200 chip (not 7201)
My Kaiser's Model Number is KAIS160.
Now that i think about it, i cant confirm this kaiser ever had a good GPS fix, being that this is my 2nd kaiser, my first one broke, and this one is the free replacement. hm...
The poll results are really surprising me, at least half the people's GPS is fine for them. I would upgrade to anything newer than dutty's 4/29 but most diamond builds dont support direct draw, i cant play quake, quake 2, or duke nukem. most other games or apps that use direct draw don't work either. i still have to try hyperdragon 6/24 build and L26_Kaiser Diamond 6/25. Does anyone know if GPS AND direct draw are working on these roms?
Indeed I miss the fast fixes from 6.0 ROMs. Within 20 seconds I would already have a fix from a cold start. Now it takes up to 3 minutes, its reaaally annoying. In fact, I also found it strange that half of the people here were not complaining about their GPS's. More than once I needed those fast fixes and had to wait for 2 minutes or so, and had to stop at dangerous eek:) places waiting for it. I tried different solutions but none of them seemed to work. And I really don't feel like going back to 6.0 ROMs so..
Hi,
I have a Kaiser with the following Items:
ROM: 3.31.111.4 GER (downloaded from german T-Mobile Site)
Rom Date: 09/01/08
Radio: 1.59.42.15 (from here, more about it further down)
Protocolle Version: 25.83.30.07H
Here the Problem:
I used to have a Custom ROM on this Kaiser (see my previouse Posts) but since i had some Issues about GPS and so on i decided to go back to the original T-Mobile ROM and downloaded it from theyre german Website.
Everything seemed to be working nice till i noticed that i didnt get as many Calls as i used to.
I went to check my Amount i had left on my Prepaid Card by hitting *101# and send but all i always got was a Message saying *Session ended*, instead of my Amount on my Account.
So i tryed to make a Phonecall with my Kaiser but all i heard was like a Pianolike multitone Chirp in the Speaker.
So i deleted all the Programs i have added, like TOMTOM6, and some Games and i rebooted the Kaiser to find out i could make Calls again.
Shortly thereafter i noticed that this would happen every Time my Kaiser was in Suspend Mode/ Standby so i deactivaed this.
Today i noticed that it happened again even i still had Suspend disabled.
I have already called HTC here in Germany today and all the LAdy told me to try to flash the T-Mobile ROM again and see if it still does the same as it does now, and if so to go to a T-Mobile Shop.
I have looked on this great Site but since i have PC Issues at this Time as well as PPC Issues i cant read through the entire Kaiser Section, I am sorry.
I have already tryed multiple Radios from the BIG RADIO Thread, but no changes.
Does anyone know of any FIX of this, does anyone else have this Issue too?
I would be very Helpfull for any Solution because i really dont want to have them send it in, since i dont know which Radio was on it Stock, nor do i wanna be w ithout it for weeks if i can fix it somehow, even i would much rather have a Diamond in exchange for it (yeah i know i am a dreamer LOL)
Thanks in Advance for any Suggestions, Help or Solutions.
