ha ha,
I was sat happily listening to mp3s over on my wireless headset when all the sound stopped!! picked up my diamond to see if I had hit a dodgy music file and found a small melted area on the centre circle!!
Rang vodafone who are sending me an envelope to return it to be repaired (de-melted??) or replaced.
Anyone else have anything similar??
What do you mean under melted center circle? You mean touch circle?
Wow, i think that you were listening lossless audio 24 hours
ouch, thats some serious damage, got any pics?
Have you any pics? I'm listening music via bluetooth every day
2 hours while travelling to college and 2 hours traveling back and
I haven't noticed something strange abou my diamond
diamond getting warm
its not normal that you have a melted area but i can melt beceause the dimond it zelf gets realy warm at the point of de circel and places around of it i have got it with my own to it was realy warm when i picked it up from my desk after listen music by headset
I really should have taken pix, (didnt think) Vodafone have had me send it back for repair/replacement.
I had it on for about 3 hours, with the charger plugged in. The circle was bubbly and slight cracking on the plastic was evident.
Initially I thought the battery had run flat, but when I plugged it in at home it get extremely hot within minutes and wouldnt charge.
Hope they get a replacemnt back to me I miss my diamond. however luckily I still have my Touch.

I have no sound whats so ever?
I think i know the answer to my problem - i'm just not sure how to fix it.
Basically part of my headset is stuck in the headset port. It's the little tiny tip section of the jack end. I think the phone thinks there is a headset plugged in and thats why the speaker is not working - also when taking calls i cant hear the other person and they cant hear me.
Problem is, what do i do about it? It's an awful small jack fitting in the first place - never mind trying to get the smallest part out of that hole?
Any idea's? I want to avoid returning the phone to O2 because when they last had it (the touch screen stopped working) it took 4 weeks before i got it back and I need the phone for GPS everyday!
OOooooo errrr.
Thats got to be the worst of luck.
I can only siggest two possible things to do and they're nasty, very nasty!
1. Get a cocktail stick and dip the smallest possible amount of SuperGlue on the end(and I mean the smallest dribble.) Infact put a drop on a ceramic tile and dip the cocktail stick into it for a really small amount. Then insert and hold for a few minutes. You may have enough bond to ease out the remains.
2. If you dont use the jack you could shove a nail in there and gently wiggle if for quite a while to break the solder points carefuly and then pull the jack off, thus disconnecting the headset.
Sounds rough and nasty but thats what I'd do and then if it failed I'd put the jack on the remaining headset and send it back to O2 for replacement.
This is a rather odd problem im having with my tilt, and was wondering if its just me. Whenever my phone gets a signal, if its within 3 feet of ANY speaker, off or on, the speaker goes crazy! Its the same pattern of tones, sort of like a fax machine handshake. I wear my headphones alot, and can tell when I am getting a call even before my screen turns on, and its rather loud. So, now when I wear my headphones, I need to place it about 3 feet away from me, and the headphone cable. Also, the phone dials up about every 10-15 mins, even when sleeping. I can hear this also. Its also not limited to headphones, but any speaker. I had the phone resting on my alarm clock, and the speaker went crazy when my wife called!!!
This sort of magnetic interference is insane, and frankly not tolerable. I have an ATT Tilt and tried a few different radio's in diff ROM's.
Very common. If you take the cell phone near to a CRT computer monitor (not LCD) right before a call / text, the screen will also show you lines.
My all phones did the same. I bought this AT&T Tilt phone running stock WM6.1 and until I flashed a cooked ROM on it, it did NOT give me these sounds through my speakers and I was amused!
The day I flashed it with a cooked ROM (and obviously a new radio / different radio) the sounds came back. This is purely electrical interference. The only solution is to keep your cell phone away from your speakers if you do not want to add additional shielding to your speakers or buy a different / better phone.
More information? Google it and you will find a lot of information on this issue.
Thanks for the info. I have had a few handsets b4, but nothing as big and complex as the tilt (Razor and cheap clamshell) and none of them gave me the problem im dealing with now. Its rather crazy to think that such a small device is putting out so much magnetic interference!
RF exposure anyone? i've noticed that my tilt causes a lot of interference even when at a distance. I'm getting rid of it as soon as I can.
This used to happen to me, then AT&T upgraded the network in my area to 3G. The band that 3G operates on is different than that of the Edge or 2G networks. I could never have my phone within 6 feet of my computer at work due to the loud noise. Now, It charges right next to the speakers all day with no problems. Hope that helps.
So last night after I got off work, I went on my roof to take some pictures of my A/C unit wiring and model number for some work related stuff. Well taking pictures in almost pitch black is hard because they come out blurry. So I went ahead and put it in video cam mode, turned the LED on and record everything. Well after 30 seconds of recording the inside of the A/C unit. I went to record the outside of the A/C unit and the light wouldn't come on.
I rebooted and the phone was acting wierd, sluggish, and slow. I started my N1 torch app and the LED wouldnt come on at all. I went back inside and looking at the LED, it looked kinda melted . I thought I'll deal with it when I get to work tomorrow.
Today I get in my car and I hook up my aux line to the jack to play my music though my speakers. Well, no music was going to the speakers, only to the N1 speakers.
So it looks like whatever happened last night took out the LED and the AUX jack as well.
So now I need to send it to HTC but I'm rooted. Will they charge me for a new motherboard?
Hey guys,
Received one of these in the mail today:
http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/13863959/-/Product.html
(Warning: I got mine from memorybits.co.uk; I warn you that the customer reviews of that place are dire but I didn't see them until after ordering. However, I got it in 2 days just fine, so YMMV).
It's pretty decent- connects as an A2DP unit and then all audio is routed via the car stereo. It's a little dumb at finding a "blank" radio space (seems to pick up the tail ends of real stations and use them instead of actual space) but the audio quality is clear and static-free.
I called my home landline and the wife says she can hear me just fine through the microphone that's built into it. I didn't try the USB charging just yet, although that's a really nice thing to have. You can hang up, answer calls, play/pause and next/previous track with the buttons on it.
The only real problem I've found so far is that there are little rubber strips down the side of the cigarette lighter adaptor that are meant to hold the unit in place and stop it moving. DO NOT turn the unit when it's plugged in- you WILL tear these strips off, as I found.
Once it's plugged in, you will have enormous difficulty getting it out again; just don't do what I did and twist it.
Overall, it functions nicely as a hands-free + audio unit. I'm stoked to get music from my phone in the car, as burning CDs was getting highly annoying. For £18 it's a complete bargain as well.
If you do happen to order from memorybits.co.uk, do use a full credit card. Last year a bunch of people complained that their orders weren't turning up etc. It looks like the site was bought out by someone else and seems to be doing business okay now, but I wouldn't take the risk. Play.com has a looooong waiting list for these.
Hope this helps someone.
Hello,
Maybe someone can give any tips in regards to the issue below. with my nokia 8
So few days ago my phone speakers started sounding distorted, I thought that it may be because water got in the speakers, as I put it on the counter by a shower, but even then the water it could of gotten was minimal due to the shower curtain and yeah. Well now the speakers are completely offline. I haven't installed no apps or updates.
Today after sound was already gone, I tried some apps that disable headphone jack, which ofc didn't work.
The earpiece is working and mic is working as well. When I plug in headphones, those work as well.
The weird thing is I tried blowing into headphone jack and I got sound for a brief period of time.
Now started more testing and well when I apply air pressure (covering headphone jack with my mouth and applying small amount of pressure) speakers work. Tried cleaning the headphone jack and nothing, only when air pressure is applied it works.
As a tech guy I can't imagine what could be wrong in this case, as there are no visible signs of water in the jack, there is nothing physically wrong with the phone other than the lack of sound and why would applying air pressure fix it and how to permanently fix it without warranty. I don't want to take it to warranty as the service usually takes a long time and I can't do with a temp/spare phone right now.
Hopefully someone can help me out,
Thank you
Even though your phone might have been only a bit splashed, humidity from the steamed bathroom could easily get inside, since Nokia 8 is only IP54 certified.
Try drying it like a water dumped phone. Turn it off, take out the SIM card tray and put the phone in rice. Let it lay down for at least a day. It might work, but if it won't, well, you might need a repair service.
well for oxidation you don't need to drop your phone into toilet, even small humidity can brake your phone, electronic is very sensitive
