Looking for CID display info - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III General

A friend had a Samsung Blackjack running WM - he found buried somewhere in windows, an exe file that would display the cell ID, the db level signal, the channel, and all other cell tower data. Has anyone found any such thing for the tilt? I'd like to know what cell tower I'm connected to if/when I experience an unsuccessful handoff.
Thanks in advance!

hello everyone

I am having a couple of problems, and I wanted to see if anyone can help me out.
First; I have a WRT54G Linksys router, and the only way to connect my MDA to it is by assigning it an IP addy, otherwise if I just try WPA it will say it's connecting but never really do it. The problem with it is that it moves very slow with the assigned IP addy. If I go to a hot spot at starbucks, or my friends wireless network, it works lighting fast and it connects without an issue. Any info?
The other question I have is that my NBF file is not working for this device to flash it to the new Cingular ROM. I currently runt he Mr. Clean ROM, but the signal strength was better with Cingular. I can load the old ROM from Cingular, but when I try to upgrade it says that I cannot use this NBF file with this device. Any info?
First, quick suggestions: Change the topic title to something more descriptive, you'll get more responses. It would also be a good idea to list each issue in a seperate topic.
For the Cingular Rom, what error are your getting? Mr Clean is based on the 2.24 T-Mo so Cingular's 2.25 should think it is newer..
results through learning...and listening...
I have finally fine tuned my device and it's doing all it's supposed to do!!!
Thanks to all the fellow techies in this forum. I could not have done it without help.
My problems were basically the ROM, and then trying different ones to see which one I liked. I learned through help how to change my splash screen, my radio, everything!! Thanks so much.
The other problem I was having was WiFi connectivity, which after reading lots of messages and postings, I got to work perfectly.
I can now connect at home, coffee shops, any network any time!!!
Thanks alot...W.

Help Please Australian D810 Rom

G'Day Crew,
Hope you can help, I am trying to find or obtain the original Rom that came with my Dopod D810, as I upgraded to the GPS rom and since that my reception and signal strength has gone from great to very poor. In fact I cant even use the 3G network!
I am in Brisbane Australia, spoke with the service contractor and they said that the GPS rom was not compatible with our network providers, and they were expecting the new "Australian GPS Rom" by the end of the month...............
They would not help me or send me the original Rom.
I have searched the web and this forum but so far have come up empty.

Ausdim,
Thankyou Thankyou thankyou. I will look at loading the "older" style rom in place if it is possible?
Is it possible to change roms with a lower number? Is it possible to change between official and cooked roms and restore again in case of warranty problems?
Thanks again, great help and so quick too.

G'day,
I've lived in OZ, luv it there.
I haven't seen the original Dopod ROM posted anywhere. You can use the SSPL utility that is available in the FTP of this site to load the original HTC WWE rom (also available here) which might work for your network. I've been using the Dopod GPS test rom with no problems in Europe, including 3G and HSDPA. What is Telstra doing over there? Oh, maybe you're not on the big T .
Good luck.
Matterhorn, I am glad you liked Australia! I am with Optus, unfortunately since I upgraded to the "official" GPS rom my signal strength has plummeted.
I just jumped straight in and changed it without thinking, my fault.
I dont know what the original rom was or where I can locate it...............
Hoping someone can give me an answer or point me in the right direction.
Thanks again for the replies, really appreciate it.
Kind regards,

Hello friend. If isn't here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...inity_Upgrades
means that don't exist. I'm searching for the Official Portuguese (Portugal not Brazil) ROM too. Drug_Store managed to dump the original Portuguese ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296035) but no one is willing to help transform the raw data into a real ROM .
I hope you find your answers. Good luck
G"day Crew,
Thanks for all the replies. I spoke with the Dopod Service Contractor in Australia, they said that the current AUSTRALIAN Rom was :
1.17.707.4, not too sure which radio though.............
I asked them if they had an FTP site or could email/upload it for me and they refused, only way was to go see them, trouble is I live 1600km away!!
Will try and track it down or think of something.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.

Dopod GPS ROM fine with Telstra in Oz.
I have been using this GPS ROM with Telstra in Vic and Tassie on the Next G network and haven't had any such problems. In most areas it registers "3G", dropping to "E" in some regional areas and "G" in parts of Tassie. I seem to have signal wherever anyone else has it.
Might be an Optus issue. I had an e-mail from Dopod Oz to say they are still working on a local Oz GPS Rom, but couldn't give me a date.
Camstech,
Thanks for the reply. Since installing the rom things havent been the same on the optus network, so far all posters in Australia have come from 3 or Telstra, so may be an Optus problem...................
My phone does not "auto" switch between networks or bands such as 3G/G/E/H it only stays on 3G with no signal strength at all and when I call my phone from the landline, it tells me that I am not available..............
Rom/Software problem or hardware do you think? if hardware I still have 7 days under ELF....................
Regards,

No issues here for Sydney Optus
I just bought my Dopod D810 on last Saturday (3/3/07), not even aware of GPS and ROMS etc. Was doing search on google, and found this forum. I has excited my Dopod could do GPS!
Having the pda for only few days, I was quite hasitant to flash down my pda down the drain, but I took my chances.
I spent about 3 hours reading the forum, getting all the facts and downloading the latest shiped rom, the bypass software and did it. It took about 15-20 min and it was done.
Now I have the latest ROM and GPS!.
Found and installed a freeware GPS monitor application, and within few minutes it was telling me where I was standing. It was tops!
Just got tomtom 6.0 installed... Damn... I need more ram for the Australian maps! So off to the shop to get a mini SD card, Owww.. non in stock!
My tomtom works, but of coarse, cannot show me the way, yet...
Hope this helps from a non-technical person.
If you want to know all the files I used for this process, just ask, and I'll try to provide/download them for you.
Cheers!

I had to change my US Cingular SIM card. It didn't work properly with 3G. You might ask Optus if they can give you a replacement SIM card if it is old, it can't hurt. Have you tried a Hard reset? I know it is a PITA, but if your phone doesn't work, you don't have much to loose. Also, you should check the settings in your Phone app, ie. automatic scanning of networks etc.
Good luck.
G'Day Matterhorn,
After much cajoling and pestering of the service centre here in Australia, I managed to get the Australian (no GPS) original shipping ROM, I have installed it and the signal strength is much improved, not great, but a lot better. Hopefully with the new Australian GPS ROM and Radio Rom it will improve more?
How do I go about getting it published to the Wiki page for others to get if they need it?
A big thank you for everyone's help and to Teleplan, thanks guys.
Regards,
BIQ
Hello friend could you please upload it in a public service (because XDA ROMs will be taken out).
I suggest rapidshare, 4shared, megaupload ... you name it .
Remember zip the ROM (with a discrete name) and put a password in it. This will extend the lifetime that file will be accessible (yes most free file sharing and storage websites check files to control illegal material).
I'm not up to use your original ROM but of course I'd like to have it .
Thank you
---------------------
EDIT: BTW you can edit the wiki pages to put a link to your Australian Original ROM
I would not mined having the original ROM as well, even though I have no signal issues..
Here is a link for the file, just uploaded it.
http://rapidshare.com/files/2011493...6275_1.24.00.11_107_Ship_Move_ding.amr_2_.exe
Let me know if any problems.

Hello friend . Thank you for the upload. We appreciate it.
gps update
hi Vatche,
you said your update worked? I have the same rom update installed, no network issues but can't get gps activity or icons or anything.
Did you say you had to add a registry patch? and a bypass software?
Can you tell me what they are and where to get them? If they are not big,
would you mind sending them to me @ [email protected] please?
thanks.
Yes, Initially, the GPS icon did not appear.
Download a Windows Mobile registry editor software (there are few on freewareppc.com), then search for the registry changes in these forums, it is only a single entry change, and the icon appears in the settings window.
If you still have issues, let me know, I'll chase up my notes for you.
Note: Once you flush the new ROM, OPTUS ZOO wap pages no longer work. You can still use 3G for internet access, but not the ZOO pages. I discovered this after I flushed mine, and for me, don't care anyway.

AT&T Tilt Debug Screen?

Is there a command to put the AT&T Tilt into Debug so you can check GPRS RSSI Signal strength? I come from the Verizon worl where #DEBUG did the trick and am wondering if there is the same capabilities on AT&T... I have searched the internet but can only seem to find this for CDMA/EVDO devices.
I apologize for the several posts, but I am new to AT&T and GPRS/GSM and you folks seem to have answers... thank you all!
SC
if you look in the windows directory on your tilt thre might be an exe called feildtest which is just that a signal debug app it gives you tons of info. if its not in the windows folder search the hermes forum for it

make sure you check show all files in the file explorer first or you wont see it.

satellite finder

Anyone know of a satellite finder program for the Diamond ???
well of cause the phone can't receive signals from satellites as it's not
a sat receiver but you can get some guidance using programs like pocketsat+ and satCE
mobile phone never have contact with satellites apart from gps they communicate with local land-based antenna towers
If you mean the GPS satellites (you need to be more precise in your question) then search for Nadavi GPS tool. As well, a good one is Visual GPS.
Sorry
Meant TV sallelite finder
Just bought a portable dish for the caravan and was wondering if there was a program that can give you the direction of the various sattelites (ie Astra/hotbird) using current GPS location
There was a good website for this when I was looking into installing my own a while ago, you put your location in and it shows you what angle and direction to point your dish to on google maps I think, it looked pretty good anyway.
I can't remember what the site was called I'm afraid but there is lots of info out there.
I haven't yet got freesat tho
http://www.satelliteforcaravans.co.uk/
this looks like the sort of web site you need
the 2 programs i stated does that with gps and such
but mind you no gps can tell which direction you are standing
only where you are so it's not really that good as sat finder
Well using HTC GPS tool to get current lat / long and this http://www.satsig.net/sf.htm should work
If you have web access on your phone this might be useful
http://www.dishpointer.com/
Type in your address and it shows your location, Sat data and dish setup info.

only prob is it says best with 1mb connection
I tried the 2 apps I wrote about
and I tried the various discpointer sites
but never could get a lock on astra2d before
I took the whole tv out to the disc and got
help from a guy who had more xp and a better
sat receiver which showed both signal lvl and signal quality
rather then mine which only showed signal %
the only thing the phone can do is if you go to the website get the settings that you need set the dish setting and the only thing the phone could do is be a compass to kinda show you what direction to point the dish.
Im not sure if they have a application for a compass but it would be nice. well if they do im sure they have N, E W and etc but not all the other numbers that you may need to point a dish like 185 SE

GPS 'Hardware' on the Tilt

hi Guys,
i have been scouring the site and i have found lots of info on getting a quick fix on the GPS and which radios work best, i have downloaded lots of radios, tried different roms but no matter what i try, I cant get a fix PERIOD. i have also googled to try and find out if the GPS itself is a replaceable part on the tilt but no info seems to be available, having said that I would definately appreciate any input, i have tried stuff like GPSgate, GPSproxy, HTC GPS tool, GPSTest, VisualGPSce, QuickGPS, QuickPosition and NONE of those tools has shown me what a GPS fix looks like, I have seen up to 8 satellites on the HTC tool, they show up and dance around for about 1 or 2 minutes and then dissapear never to be seen again until after a reboot of the phone.
i have also borrowed a friends Tilt, and placed them side by side, and watched his phone get a fix in about 1 minute, and then stuck around for about 20 more minutes and then finally end the test in frustration.
is the GPS a replaceable part?
any input would be greatly appreciated
Phone: AT&T branded TILT
ROM:Ultimate-X2.V11.Premium (wm6.5)
RADIO:1.71.09.01
Protocol:25.75.40.02.eMoH
My advice to you would be to just keep trying to find a radio ROM that works for you. I recently got a Tilt, and I flashed some odd 5 or 6 radios before I found one that enabled WiFi and GPS for me. Ironically, its the one you are currently using xD.

No but the antenna sticker (with fragile embedded tracks) is. That said, you mentioned you still get greyed out satelite details showing and changing in your nav software so that may not be an issue (you've not mentioned if this sticker above the battery bay has been disturbed at all). If you are worried about whether your new setup has contributed to the problem, the answer is simple, was it working OK before you changed the ROM/Radio or SPL from original WM 6.0?
Oh and welcome to the forum illspamu - I hope you don't live up to your name

thank you, havent given up I know there is a radio out there for me.
@Flying Kiwi
thanks
I am a total newb to this, so this info about the antena is something i need to check, it is worth mentioning that i did buy this tilt with a broken screen so someone probably used it for a hockey puck, its been a great phone minus the GPS but I recently became demanding and want to see it working.
the GPS has never worked beyond showing me some satelites for a couple of minutes and its been the same regardless of ROM/Radio.
about the handle, worry not, its amazing how an email address like that can keep spammers off
