I have a problem with the installation of software on a Diamond. It is not mine but that of a colleague.
No matter how I try CAB is always only the message "installation of xxxxx.cab is Failed."
Original message in German " Installation von xxxxxxx.cab ist Fehlgeschlagen.
On my Diamond is no problem only on the work of my colleague.
I also try it with installation from the PC but there are only the message Windows/AppMgr/Install could not be created.
However, space is enough available.
Is an MDA from T-Mobile with branded ROM.
I can in the Windows directory, no orders manually.
Does anyone know the problem and can help me?

Hi there, I'm new to this forum so forgive me if I'm not doing things quite right. I've recently purchased a new MDA III and am unable to install Jave programs (.jar) as the Midlet manager is not installed (eventhough it should be according to the manual!!)
T-Mobile have eventually realised that the Midlet manager is not included when it should and have asked me to run SETUP-MidletManagerAppSuite-1.0.0.4-MDAIII-ENG-14Jan05.exe which they sent me in an email. I've run this but it fails with message “Unable to install application. Please update your device ROM to the required version before trying again”.
T-Mobile then asked me to download latest ROM update from http://www.t-mobile.de/blackberry_solution/support/english (there is an update for an MDA III eventhough it says BlackBerry). I ran upgrade MDA3_TMUK_v106160_SHIP0307.exe which upgraded me to:
CE Image (1.06.00)
Extended CE Image (1.06.160)
Radio Image (1.00.00)
Ps. this was the previous version I had before the upgrade but I thought I'd run it anyway.
I then tried to re-run MIDlet manager installation program but it failed with the same error.
Is anybody out there able to suggest anything please? T-Mobile's answer was that I have to wait for HTC the manufacturer of MDA's to release a new ROM update.

hey, im new to all this, the tutorials dont make sense to me, atm i know my device is:
-tmobile mda vario
-unlocked
-G4
and is rom verion 3.8.2.1 wwe
i tried to upgrade it with SNN Diamond edition, but when ever i tried this, i got to the part where it starts to flash, the mda vario screen goes to the screen with the three colors but then on my laptop it just crashes and seys something about it is not responding and you have to close it, i have tried with other roms, but same thing occurs
can someone plz help meee

i tried updating the rom with TNT,19213 professional
and error [300] invalid update tool occured
it says this update utility cannot be used on your pda phone.please get newer update utiltiy plz plz help
You have to use SoftSPL, you can get it HERE
In this folder, you copy the "nk.nbf" of your favourite WM6 (and only this file), then start with "START-sSPL.exe" (make sure you're connected via ActiveSync).
When you read this here before, you know everything you need!
Probably you are not following the instructions and doing it correctly,try to go according to the guide,if it still doesn't work,it sometimes happens that SoftSPL fails,than you better do it through 'HardSPL'
About 50% for the cabs I have tried to install on my device have ended with a 'Installation Unsuccessful' error message as soon as the installation starts. They don't even get to the select location screen.
One of these cabs was google maps? Is there any reason why? Do I need to de-cert the device?

I'm having the same problem, and would be gratefull of some help.
In the end I gave up with the awful T-Mobile ROM and installed Elite's v3 ROM.
Its far superior and I haven't had a problem with installing cabs since.

Hi to everyone.
I've just bought a HTC Diamond on the vodafone network, but need to unlock it as I'm on O2's network.
I've been able to install SPL 1.4 and this shows on the boot loader page.
The problem seems to come when I try and install the 'new' rom. It goes through the whole stage up to 100%. Then on the device it says error code please try again. On my Pc it says error code 226. I've tried it on a windows vista pc, and again on XP. I've also tried it by installing it direct onto the internal storage. This again goes through the installation up to and including 1005, but then come sup with a new screen on the device saying that the update and the radio have both failed to install.
I'd really like to unlock my device and to have a new rom so that I dont have all the vodafone branding.
Like many others, I'm willing to contribute so that research and new software is developed, and I have also read the forums for many hours trying to find a solution to my problem before posting.
Hopefully I can be directed to some help.

Just to update and incase anyones interested.
I ended up downloading the latest version of the official rom that I could find, then extracted the nbh file using winrar, and installed that from the internal storage which has successfully worked.
Not sure why the other rom image I had wouldn't work, just glad I've got rid of the vodafone bits really.

I got a russian HTC Diamond and wanted to change the rom to english.
I tried to follow the Hard-spl,Radio,Rom procedure to change the Rom,but, I successfully completed the Hard-spl part but white upgrading the radio the phone got stuck and finally i got error 262 Which has something to do with CE.
After some search found that if i Hard spl it again it would be fine. but the issue is, when i try hardspl now , i get error 200 phone not detected.
I have tried numerous ROM and numerous times but the phone boots up in some Russian screen. i can detect the file system and sync using windows sync in vista.
Tried to boot from internal storage but says no ROM file found. Please help me to sort this issue out thanks a lot
