I'd like to use the HTC Touch keyboard on my Tilt for the times that I don't want to slide out the keyboard, but installing it seems to break the autocorrect feature when I am using the hardware keyboard. I see a few other people mentioning this in various threads, but I have yet to see any mention of a solution to this problem. I've tried all sorts of combinations of enabling and disabling autocorrect and various xt9 features, but the only way I can get autocorrect back is by uninstalling the HTC Touch keyboard.
By autocorrect, I'm referring to the ability to type in "il" and have it automatically change to "I'll"
Hi - did anybody find a solution to this? I've been searching high and low!
I'm in exactly the same boat - I love HTC keypad as it really helps me use the Kaiser one-handed, but I really miss the auto-correct on the hardware keyboard.
Is there a version of this SIP that doesn't break auto-correct?
I tried the HTC phonepad, but just couldn't get used to it after using the newer Keypad.
I would love to have a good T9 style SIP, but also have autocorrect on the hardware keyboard......anybody that can help?
Thanks!
I'd noticed that too, quite annoying as the touch keypad is so useful.

I too found the same issues yet I loved the T9 input using the touch pad. I removed the xT9 one and installed this one instead.
You still get T9 and it works fast too. The internal keyboard auto correct also works with it too.
Is also made by HTC but can't remember where I found it. May have been on here before or recently.
I've been earching for a solution to this as well for months now. The autocomplete that XT9 disables is part of wm6 which it calls "word completion." When XT9 is installed via htc keypad, word completion ceases to work along with the feature that auto-fills contacts as you start to type a new SMS.
Thanks for posting that pkonepad cab, but unfortunately.that' the sip that radatia mentioned above. The buttons on the new HTC touch phonepad are bigger and easier to use.
What we really need is someone here that knows some programming to somehow alter the touch phonepad so that xt9 can be toggled on and off (without a registry change and restart), or better yet somehow change it to use a T9 like the phonepad's instead of xt9...
I have exact same problem. I love the htc virtual keyboard because became useful. However once I installed it, the hardware keyboard word completion no longer work I need that too because I use it.
I have another question, do anyone know if I can make the default windows word completion to auto select the top most word suggested list so I can just enter space bar to select it. Now I always have to use down key to select the word 1st. Not efficient.
Just wanted to bump this topic. There have got to be others out there who share our frustration... and someone who can put an end to it!
I've given up on the HTC Keypad, much as I like it and it making the device usable one-handed.
Have moved onto the PocketCM Keyboard as my preferred SIP just so that I can still keep word completion when using the hardware keyboard.
Hope that someone posts here if a solution is eventually found......
oh man!
I'm the opposite.. how I wish the hardware keyboard is not auto correct enabled when I use it.
I've tried dis-abling the auto correct etc.. dun seem to work..
now using Resco keyboard..
it's the next best thing, but kinda defeats the purpose of getting the tytn II in the first place.
Yes the touch keyboard has many issues when used on kaiser. i can't get autocomplete to work with the hardware keyboard either unfortunately.
I do know that "multiword completion" in the xt9 settings or whatever is a bad thing and causes other problems, so i uncheck that. But, still can't figure out how to get autocomplete to work.
I spent a lot of time searching and installing/uninstalling these things to try and find a perfect mix, no luck though. It's still QUITE usable for me, but i would like auto complete for hardware keyboard, though, i dont think i'd use it as i type realy fast anyways with it.
It's quite hard to justify buying a keyboard when we are able to install a free one that *almost* does what we want! pcmkeyboard with iphone buttons and XL touch skin is good, but i am realy starting to like xt9.
:-( i have this problem now and love the keyboard...
I love (so far) my HTC Diamond but there is one pretty annoying problem. It seems I cannot get word suggestions while typing and this is for any keyboard type.
Any ideas?
Same problem in the IPAQ 614c
I am having the same problem on my IPAQ 614c. I installed this file to disable to XT9 option but it did not help. It may work for you. I would love to get an answer to my problem. Many thanks.
Jay
Could you please post a link to the discussion where this file is described?
Have you played around with the T9 settings?
Start/settings/input/ (check the word completion tab here and choose your options)
Go back to unput method tab
Have compact Qwerty in the window/Options/T9 settings
unfortunately this doesn't work.
keyboard
The best is TouchPal 3.0
correction, I'm speaking about default WM keyboard not about HTC one.
Ok, do you have a Word Completion tab in your input settings?
If so, which options have you chosen?
I have tick Suggest word when entering text
Suggest after entering 4 letters
Suggest 4 words
Tick in Add space after word
Tick in Enable Auto Correct.
I'm sorry, I was wrong, I just tried this out myself, and mine isn't working either. I've never used the normal keyboard before, as it's so small, but it seems like having the Touch keyboards stops that word suggestion happening in normal keyboard. My apologies.
There seems to be a solution to this problem here: PocketCM Keyboard. Good luck! I have tried it and it works great. Awesome!
This Should Work
Hi all, just got the diamond last week, damn its nice, just the battery life sucks.
I used to own a UK T-Mobile Mda 3, loved the calender as i change shifts a lot, was looking to replace it a few months back heard tell of the diamond so decided to wait.......however...
The sms full keyboard on my old MDA3 used to allow predictive words (t9 i think) but the diamond does not seem to, I like the keyboard layout over the qwerty or comapct qwerty as they both take up too much for the screen for my taste.
The t9 does not seem to work in the keybaord layout, i think i have all the settings correct, as it works in the other 2 setups but not keybaord.
also, is there a website that lists all the compatible 6.1 programs? not sure what i want, but more like teeter would be nice, or even a different sms prog that allows predictive text!!
Cheers

The same for me. T9 works only using qwerty layout. If you use keyboard layout predictive text doesn't work. Someone has an idea ? My rom is 1.37 from HTC official italian.
Thanks in advance

Found it ! Thanks to newtonmj in modaco forum
You must chaange the registry key XT9SupportMSSip in HKLM\SOFTWARE\Tegic\eT9\ from '0' to '1'.
This allows the predictive text to work correctly in standard keyboard too.
I don't know if this mod can "damage" other settings but I don't think. It allows the predictive input to work using microsoft standard keyboard. In my device now works !

Very nice. I think I'll try it. But I wanted that worked correctly standard keyboard without adding third part software. What is standard in my device MUST work correctly. Then perhaps I'll not use it, but this is another thing
I'm paranoic. But I can't accept that a phone worth about 500€ does't go in the appropriate way......
Hi,
I don't know what I've done, but when I'd like to write some message, or whatever, the original keyboard (full qwerty, or compact qwerty) keyboard starts up with the symbol pad and it's not possible to switch it back to alphanumeric mode. The only way is to invoke keyboard switch menu and select the same keyboard again. then it works as usual. Does anybody have the same problem?
as I said, I don't know, what I've done, or installed, bud I think, I've installed Advanced config 3.0 recently
I have the same problem... I also don't know what is wrong.
I also tried to disabled T9 with some tricks... that's all...
Some suggestions??
Thnx
Since yesterday I also have a problem with my HTC keyboards.
All 3 options, Qwerty, Compact Qwerty and the phonepad only gives me numbers.
I have tried all the settings.
It does not make a diverence if i turn of T9.
On the keyboard i can see the nummbers and the letters.
This is very irritating, can somebody please help?
Or is there an original cab version, al the cabs i can find are Qvga.
I have tried the Touch keyboard and it gives letters in stead of numbers, but its Qvga.
Thanks
Same problem here on the CDMA Diamond, I tried two different ROMs already the Sprint Stock ROM and a Telus Custom Juicy's 2.0 ROM. I can't use it at all and I hate doing a Hard Reset. Someone shed some light on this please.
Same problem here, have tried everything
Well I solved the problem by uninstalling PCM Keyboard... Too bad, I really liked it
Does anybody know if it's possible to run pcm keyboard without having this issue on the diamond?
since day 1 my keyboard did not show predict text ? anyone can help me ?
I had the same problem , it appeared from nowhere ..
After also trying different tricks , i solved the problem using Resco Keyboard
Pro ... It also responds much better to my taste with the touch screen
interface of the diamond.
I have had this problem on the Touch Pro too having used PCM keyboard.
Unistalled it and all back to normal.
Pity.
Same here, alas PCM's copy & paste was cool, but not if I can't use the other keyboards...

How do you use copy & paste with PCM? Which version of PCM keyboard are you using?
This is a cab that i used to ALWAYS use on my Kaiser to speed up the keyboard response of the device. Just tried it on my Fuze running ROMEOS and it definitely showed signs of improvement.
Install the CAB and soft-reset. Post your findings to this thread.
Makes this change:
Code:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409
Ime File=\windows\compime.dll
Layout Text=COMP IME
To Turn on again
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Layouts\e0010409
Ime File=\windows\eT9Ime.dll
Layout Text=eT9 IME
Hi, I've tried this registry hack on TouchHD with production firmware, and it certainly does disable XT9 and re-enable the native WM predictive text, *BUT* it makes my TouchHD slow to a crawl. The phone still works but extremely slow (like 2-3 second reponse delay) and also gets extremely hot behind the CPU. It's as though there is still some process in the background desperately making unanswered function calls to XT9. I've had to re-enable XT9 just to make my TouchHD responsive.
Can anyone point me to a CPU/process tool so I could see what it is taking up all those CPU cycles and generating all that heat when XT9 is disabled?
You tried that hack on the Touch HD? Does that even have a hardware keyboard? I don't think that it was supposed to work with that phone. (Maybe?)
yeah.. this would have no effect on sip inputs...
Well there is one problem i got is that when i install this tweak i cant type æøå on the hw keyboard:/ (norwegian keyboard) so is there away to use this tweak with norwegian keyboard support?
Still searching as well
I am also still searching for a way to get rid of the whole friggin' black et9 input bar, but keep my hardware keyboard to be responsive to the sym key, and the function key for typing euro sign and pound sign.
I hate the black input bar, especially since after you type first name in a text message address bar, and press space for a second name, it fills ion a name that's highlighted at the moment.
That's just so annoying...
Anyone any clue on how to deactivate et9, but keep the hardware keyboard fully functional?
Is it working for Raphael??

it is posted in the Raphael Software section. do you now think it's working?
I think it wirked.
I have jsut installed it on my kaiser and it seems to work very well, But i am also old school and running solace v1, works great thank you! no more.. t hanky ou...lol
just pade the registry change...
seems to be working well... barely any lag at all...
i've made this change VVV as well in hopes to fix this problem... it also helped a little
Code:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Keybd
“InitialDelay”=dword: dec 775
“RepeatRate”=dword: dec 23
with this one tho seems a lot better.
After i uninstalled this "disable xT9" my manilla sms meny dissapeared... Anyone knows how to restore it?
this actually got my sip full qwerty keyboard stuck in number mode...
i just changed it back to et9ime.dll and it's back to normal...
too bad... seemed to work well for the hard keyboard.
Works well for me on my HTC Touch Pro.
Thanks heaps ... it's been bugging me for a while.

Works great for me, I've been looking for something like this! Thank you very much!
just a lil warning...
Be careful installing this on touch pros/fuzes. It has been known to get the on screen keyboard stuck on numeric mode. Some ppl have gone upto a week or two without the problem showing up. Just a heads up.
just a lil warning...
Unfortunatley, I did not read this post prior to installing the xt9 disable software on my Fuze. I really enjoyed everything, such as the older style auto correct, and the list of suggested words. Now that juicy "Full QWERTY" is stuck in number mode. Is there a fix for this? Any help will be much appreciated.
Cheers,
Rick
I did the reg change to get the win mob predictive text... which worked until I did a soft reset. After that, my FULL QWERTY is also stuck in number mode.
Changed the reg back to original, and I got back my FULL QWERTY. No need to soft reset.
this helped me! HTC messaging with hardware keyboard on xperia is much faster now... but not windows messaging...
but I found this, which helped out with that too...
