I've been using this Kaiser phone for about a week now and it's seriously starting to piss me off.
I won't go into the details here, I just want to ask, is there a way to retrograde Windows Mobile 5 on to this phone?

LOL,, that made my day!!!! Everyone and their grandmother is trying to get a flawless WM6.1 version and you want to downgrade to WM5.0.... Awsome!!!

What's wrong with your phone?
As it comes from factory you should not have any problem (if it does something unusual like hanging or dropping calls, just return it, there's something called warranty).
You can download updated HTC apps and all kind of utilities from P1tater or AllTheWay sites on 4shared, if you want.
You can download official WM 6.1 ROMs, they work fine.
You can try any of the cooked ROMs, done by the dozen of cookers here. Some of them have small flaws, but you can see how the device performs with another settings or applications.

Guys you don't want to make him angier then before.

As I remember, kaiser came with wm6.0, I don't think you can get any factory wm5 for kaiser.

Ok. There are quite a few, but here are some...Dunno if this is an issue with the hardware (don't think so) and I'm actually using a Vodafone branded device if that makes any difference.
Phone lock bug
Locking the phone sometimes puts the device in a limbo state where it will not respond to any screen input, but will respond to the keyboard. Clicking the unlock screen item has no effect in this state so the phone can't be unlocked without using the keyboard
Calendar reminders not showing up on Today
Noticed this yesterday, that events occuring in the next day or two were not showing up as an item on the today screen calendar summary. It only showed up when I actually went into the calendar and the event, and then exited the application
So fu*king slow
Ironically, the well publicised slow video doesn't really show up on my Kaiser. The camera works at a good frame rate (when used in good light) and video recording and playback seems as fast as my old Trinity...

Every other fu*king aspect of the phone is slow from responding to clicks on icons to playing games which worked very well on the Trinity (mainly Celeris Virtual Pool).
I asked if WM5 could be installed on the phone as I believe the first two issues could be allieviated by this old (but perfectly useable and properly working) version.
Any ideas / suggestions welcome.

If I can't resolve the issues then yeah, it'll be put up for sale.

I also have one of these, and have never had an issue with it freezing like you have descibed. I would suspect it may be a hardware issue with yours - suggest you get Vodafone to replace it - doesn't cost anything! I'm perfectly happy wit mine

Cheers...Can you tell me which ROM versions you have installed on your device.

From what you are describing, these issues appear to be software-based. I have an AT&T Tilt, and from day 1 it was plagued by sluggish response and screen freezes. Now that the cooks have had 6+ months to play around with Kaiser hardware, there are several custom ROMs out there that can resolve/minimize the problems you described.
Before you go so far as to get rid of the phone, I would suggest you read up on the ROM Upgrading section of the Kaiser Wiki (linked in my signature), and determine if you are willing to go through the steps required to unlock your phone and load custom ROMs.
I have flashed no less than 30 different ROMs in the last 6 months, and I must say that I settled on Dutty's Apr 09 build 2.5 weeks ago when he released it. Video playback is still choppy (hardware issue affecting all flavors of the Kaiser), but can be lessened by purchasing and installing CorePlayer. I have had no freezing issues since flashing to this ROM.

One final question (I promise) is there any simple way to backup an existing ROM installed on the device. I've used Kaiser kitchen before, but is there an app that just reads the ROM and saves it in a state where it is simple to reinstall afterwards?

Yes & no. Backing up your ROM on the device is fairly simple. However, it will be raw data & must be converted thru a pretty straight forward & fairly simple process. But there is nothing ATM that will dump the rom as a nbh that can be immediately flashed.

After being stuck in bootloader mode (noob error not following proper Hardspl instructions) without a working backup ROM for quite a few hours, I managed to restore my phone using Mtty and then install the Vodafone stock WM 6.1 from 29th Jan 08.
Why didn't they just ship this bloody ROM with the device
Bugs seem fixed and theres a slight speed increase too.

Emergency Beacon c# app.

Evening all.
I'm hoping there's some developers out there that can give me some help.
I work in the telecoms industry and we send out field staff out in the middle of the night to some unsavoury locations. I am aware of staff being robbed, beaten up, even once a long time ago a farmer pointed a shot gun at one of our techs!!!!!
I'm trying to write an "Emergency Beacon" app in c# that when a hardware key is pressed (probably nav wheel) 5 times within 5 seconds it'll wake the device and run the program. Vibrate once to alert the tech it's been activated, enable the GPS, read the CGI (Cell ID) from the RIL, and then send a SMS detailing the Tech needs urgent help at GPS lat/long (if it gets a fix) and the (CGI) Cell ID, and do this every minute until its manually deactivated with a PIN code.
The idea is that if a tech gets in trouble, if he can get to his Kaiser, find the nav wheel, tap the button a few times, it'll vibrate and send the SMS, and he'll know help will be on its way without having to go through the "unlock", phone someone, where are you, don't know lark.
So far I've done the ... GPS, got the Cell ID and LAC, and got it sending the SMS every minute.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to wake the device from a hardware key and run a program. I've only been developing on WM6 in c# for 2 months!!!
I'm thinking along the lines of a Today screen plugin but I think they go to sleep in sleep mode.
Anyone any ideas??

Hmm.. I have zero development background on WM, but maybe a few cues...
In the settings you have a "Key Lock" control panel. In there, by default the hardware keys are deactivated when the device is in standby. By changing that you can enable the keys again.
After that, a press on any hardware key will wake up the device and do what it's supposed to.
So the waking up would be sorted. Now if you don't want the phone to wake up all the time and do random stuff in the pocket, I guess your program would have to put a kook to capture all the hardware keys, whenever it's running (all the time in the background).
When the device is on standby and a key is pressed, if it's not the intended one the device is put to sleep again. If it's the right one, start counting the presses.
When the device is on, if it's not the intended one, the key event is passed to system so it can be handled normally. If it's the panic key, start counting too so that operation is guaranteed also if the phone is already on.

Ahhh I see what your saying .... capture the keys and if it's not the right one put the device to sleep BEFORE it wakes up properly.
I think this would have to be done as otherwise all the keys other than the "power button" are ignored. I don't want to go down the power button route as it's a hard button to find .... the nav wheels dead easy.
I'm very new to WM too, Even though I've got pretty much a working application. How to get it working at the press of a button ... no idea (yet).
I "think" it's possible, If a "proper" developer wants to take the idea and create a working application I think we'll all be winners!

That would be an amazing app, im in the telecomms industry too and would be a nice tool to have. I wouldnt mind doing some testing on the app when you have a version ready.

Hope my code helped you get this going. I would like to see this working.
A good Idea would be to configure the button, if possible, that way if you port it to another device (say artemis) it would work without the jog wheel.

What you helped me with Dave was another part of the project ... your code allowed me to write the alarm function of my "Lone worker" Today screen plug-in which, IF the tech doesn't book off site it wakes up and beeps a lot ...
Sadly it's not an application that anyone one here would find useful UNLESS they work for a company with a SMS based Lone Worker system.

Backlight/Screen won't stay off, turns back on after only moments!

I've had this tilt for a couple of days now and this new screen problem only started happening today. My screen/backlight turn back on moments after being turned off, either by the power button on the side or after the short timeout.
I've searched through the forums to no avail. My bluetooth and WiFi are already turned off and I do not have any programs running in the background.
The problem only appeared today and the only program I've installed today is Xpress Mail. Could Xpress Mail be causing this problem?
Any suggestions anyone has would be greatly appreciated. This little glitch is getting on my nerves pretty bad.

This sounds like the opposite issue of the known backlight error.
You can try this to see if it might happen to also solve your issue.

I just gave that a try but it didn't work. I'm still having the same problems as before.
I also uninstalled Xpress Mail but that didn't work either.
Any other suggestions??

The only other thing i could recommend is a hard reset. Have you tried that yet ? ( It will restore the phone back to factory )

Maybe I'll tackle that tomorrow. I've been adding and customizing things obsessively for a few days, wiping the slate clean might take some getting used to.

Anytime! Thats what we are here for I just wish I have a better answer for you. Something somewhere seems to have changed a registry setting it seems. Easiest way to fix is to reset
On the plus side, it gives you the opportunity to install a custom rom that is much faster and has no bloatware ( If you feel brave enough to try ). Flashing sounds much more scary than it really is. There is almost no way to mess up the phone
One more thing. Even if you dont flash a new OS, you can still get rid of the bloatware ( Factory branding with all the apps you will never use ). Just after it hard resets just as the screen changes to " Customizing in 3 seconds", just poke your stylus in the hole and reboot it. It might take you a few times because I hear there is a split second but trust me it will make things better not being there!

The button for my camera seems pretty regular. My phone stays off longer than yours in that video, fordmav. Also, on my phone when the phone is off and I push the camera button it does not wake up.
Its looking like a hard reset is in my future.

I had this problem after upgrading to 6.1. It came down to a tweak or set of tweaks that I had applied, but I don't recall what they were. I've caused it using tweaks programs, applying multiple tweaks that caused no issue before. Going back in & undoing the tweaks got rid of the issue. So did a hard reset before I figured it out.
If you do hard reset, make backups periodically as you're installing stuff/tweaking successfully. That way, you can go back to a good point if necessary.

well I don't know what I did but the screen and backlight are remaining off, at least so far today. hopefully that's the end of the story...

I found the solution to this problem.
Like somebody told in this thread it is a software problem!
It seams to be an error in the ROM, that even a hardreset cannot restore.
So I flashed a newer ROM to my Diamond. It was the first time I did that, so I did not really know how it works. But at the end it was really easy.
IT IS JUST IMPORTANT TO READ ALL THE NOTES before you try to flash the ROM.
I upgraded my ROM from 1.93.xxx to 2.03.xxx but it is possible to reflash the same ROM to your device.
How it works?
Just go to http://www.htc.com/www/supportdownloadlist.aspx?p_id=133&act=sd&cat=all
and download the ROM you like. At the moment there are to ROMs avaiable 1.93 and 2.03
So download the one you like (size: +- 100 MB), then READ and FOLLOW all the instructions if it is your first time.

yeah thats happened to me couple of times...it usually happens to me when i leave my diamond plugged in the charger over night...occasionally, the device freezes up or reboots over night (i know this because when i wake up, i get prompted with insert sim passcode screen)

I had something kind of like that except my screen output everything as if I was looking at it through a mirror, but the touch screen locations were still the same.

I have the same problem and cannot isolate why it happens, but it is a coincident it happens when plugged in charger.
Only way I found to clear it is soft reboot

its just a software related issue, not hardware (at least i dont think). But it happens to me very rarely...hasnt caused any issues.

It started 1 week ago on my phone...
I installed an Anti-Virus to check, but found nothing.
I did hardreset, now my diamond freezes less often.
But what can it be? And I dont know how to install a new ROM version, or how to complet flash the ROM...
And when I sent my diamond back to HTC this takes over a month to get it back, because here in Luxembourg they are so F***ING slow!

So, this is an edit of the message above:
I updated my Touch Diamond now from ROM 1.93.xxx to 2.03.xxx
It was kinda easy, you just have to go to the HTC Homepage, then to Diamond Support and Downloads.
THEN IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO FOLLOW ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS IF IT IS YOUR FIRST TIME, so read!
I will tell you then in a few days if it had some affections to the problems I have with my diamond!
EDIT / UPDATE 1:
The phone seams to work a bit faster with the new ROM then with the older.
GSensor Calibration is already installed on this new ROM
New Version of Google Maps
And I think a newer version of Youtube.
Although some System Updates and Internet Sharing is now in choose-list when connecting to PC

[Q] Anyone else had this screen fault?

Charged my G Watch R last night as I always do and put it on this morning. Noticed at my breakfast meeting that it had froze earlier on 6am when it was now gone 7.
Pressed and held the power button for 8 seconds to restart and now just get this:

It's still working underneath as it vibrates with notifications and calls etc.
UPDATE: Randomly as I'm writing this post the screen comes back to the normal face, I have a go to flick through my notifications then it freezes on email and won't move even when the power button is pressed but again is vibrating on notifications.
Obviously it will need to go back but wondering if anyone else has had similar issues?

I havent had that issue? Odd for sure. Check over in the Moto section if anyone has.

In the brief moments the screen returned to normal I managed to initiate a factory reset, it rebooted with the LG logo and set back up but within minutes it went back to how it is in the photo.

My LG G2. Same situation. I just have to whack it on a table a once or twice and it goes back to normal.

I had that pixelated screen popping up once, while I was testing some heavy customisations on the watch maker app ... since I'm using faces with less objects I did not saw that weird screen.
I suggest to do a factory reset or to choose one of the default watch faces ... anyway, something else than what has been on when that stuff occurred.

I had the same issue with my first one
Mine did this after getting fully charged, i had it next to me on the table ready to be strapped on when it happened.
I am amazed you could reboot, mine did not even responded to the main button any more, got really hot also.
after an hour in the box (ready to be send off back to the retailer) it did a spontaneous reset, and showed 5% battery left. I turned it off and send it back, my second one developed the blinking issue in dimmed state, so also back, now on my third one. I do hope this one will be all right, i love it dearly! The recessed screen prevents the random activations i had with the LG G, bloody annoying when playing music with Music Boss, pause/play every few seconds when my sleeve touched the screen..

I contact Clove Technology where I purchased it from and they have replaced it, awesome service from them. New one is working fine so far, fingers crossed it stays that way.

I do hope your new one will work out, i am starting to think they have a serious quality issue somewhere in the production line!

Think so to, there seem to a lot of lgr users with this problem. Really hope the will solve this, love my lgr but hate this issue. I have a new watch on its way to me, got mine replaced to.

Got my new watch the other day. Works great so far, hope it will continue do so [emoji2]. Really like it !!

I got this yesterday when i tried to use Watchmaker watch face app for the first time. Reboot, happened again. Switched back to Facer. Haven't seen it again.

I'm not sure if it might be an LG thing but I had the EXACT same thing start happening with my Nexus 5 a couple of weeks ago. The screen would freeze and be pixilated but the device would be working and ring and vibrate for notifications. I don't know what triggered it but coincidentally it was right after the lollipop update that it started to happen. A reboot usually (but not always) solved it. LG replaced the device as it was still under warranty.

Huh, that sounds troubling, but then again, this is the first time i hear of this on the Nexus 5, so maybe it is a software problem after all, I hope the soon to be release 5.0.2 will fix this, at least it seems to fix the battery problems some seem to have after the 5.0 update and the performance issues some see on the Nexus 7 slabs.
But as LG has swapped your N5 for a new one, i am very afraid they have a real quality issue in their production line!

Strange, for me it was the other way around: the pixelated screen just appeared out of nowhere... It did seem to respond to button actions, so I decided to keep the button pressed very long.
Result: it rebooted, and I have never had any problems since

EDIT: DEAD AGAIN 2 DAYS AFTER THE REPAIR!!! I may probably NEVER going to buy any LG product in the future. Considering switch to the 360.:crying::crying::crying::crying:
