I have a Touch Pro with Sprint and I keep getting annoying messages from Pocket Express trying to reach out to its server to register me.
How can I remove this and the other junk that Sprint put on my phone and which I'm not allowed to remove through the standard menus ? It annoys me to no end that this bloatware is taking up space on my phone and I can't even take it off when it bugs me
thanks for your help
load a custom firmware?

wiping everything? It was a lot of effort to unlock it, flash a custom rom and get everything working so if I put it up for sale locally I'd like to be able to demo some cool programs and features and possibly pull my sim chip and hand it over.
I realize that my purchased apps are probably not transferable but is it just a matter of entering a new Gmail account to sync with? I don't actually sync my mail, only contacts but I'd like to know how to clear things like the call log, etc.
Thanks,
Terry
p.s. the phone is lovely and I'll probably never use even half the features but it doesn't make a very good e-book reader. Unless there is a way to remap the keys? In portrait mode I find pushing the screen up very annoying - it hides the text and in open keyboard mode the key substitutes for page down don't work in the reader programs I've tried.

Wiping the phone will not remove the rooted ROM. It will just delete the apps/settings, which whoever get's it can download from the marketplace anyways.
the easiest way would be to wipe it, but you can always go to manage applications and clear the cache of each app(might take a while but should work). and then you can go to your call log and hit menu to clear the log out, and the same with SMS. should work but since i would just wipe it myself idk.
p.s. wiping wouldn't get rid of the custom ROM you installed, and it shouldn't get rid of the SIM unlock
I didn't think wiping would mess up the custom rom or the unlock - I was mainly thinking about how much work it was to get everything to this point, including the installed apps. I paid for them, I may as well use them until I sell it and that they would make a good sales prop doesn't hurt. But if they disappear when the unit is wiped, that wouldn't be my first choice of how to go about it.

Hi, i'm thinking of buying an HTC one and i can't wait for it and i wonder how much of a difference does closing apps make in terms of battery life because it is obvious that having apps running in the background makes the OS feel a lot faster and if it's a minor downside than i'd rather have the upside of having those running in the background.
Hahaahahahahahahahahaahaha. Closing them neither increases battery nor makes the system feel faster... Have you come from an iPhone? (It doesn't make a difference on iPhones either)
nope im coning from glaxy nexus and it does make a difference in it though
According to what I've read, the newer android systems freeze the apps while in the background. I don't know what apps you'd keep open in the background, though. The only one I have keep running is my browser.
Im asking that if im surfing on net and then have to go somewhere, do i have to close apps and then put the phone in my pocket or is just locking your phone and putting it in your pocket is fine.

I just lock the phone and put it in my pocket. Does fine for me. I get awesome battery life. Usually your screen is what eats up your battery anyways, again I say usually ;p (always an exception somewhere). Out of all the android phones I've had, this one has the best battery life. Not saying there aren't better, but I can go a whole day with moderate use and still have a little juice at the end of the day. Now granted, if you were playing music, you may want to stop that first, but I figured that was common sense...

Just minimize it to the recent apps tray, you can just restore the app where you left off ... Android manages apps extremely efficiently so you don't need to close them, force stop them in settings, use a task manager or any of the above. It actually drains your battery more to kill apps and have them start again, especially system apps that constantly run, than it does to just leave them running.
when you pause an activity (hit the home button, rather than the back button - or venture off to a different activity)
The app does not continue running, however it does preserve the application state (as long as dalvik doesn't kill it, due to higher priority memory allocation requests)
Apps can launch background services, which are NOT paused in the same way (depending on how they are created, of course). In order to force kill all services associated with an app, you'll have to use the app manager.
---
As far as performance/battery impact:
- You'd think "Oh, if i pause 50 apps then i'm going to run out of memory?" NO - the dalvik will kill them in the order it deems necessary to ensure a certain amount of memory is always free.
- This also means you cannot count on a paused app ALWAYS being where you left it off. In the middle of writing an important email? pause the app, go look something up in chrome, and come back to the email it MAY or MAY NOT BE where you left it off. (The dalvik could have killed it)
- Paused apps do not account for any CPU time, therefore there is no battery impact.
Services MAY account for cpu time depending on what they're doing - and they will run even when the app is killed depending on how they were registered.
So even in my Galaxy Nexus it's actually better if i don't swipe all the recent apps?
Well guys and gals, I got a little zealous with Titanium Backup and started removing items left and right (Nearly 60-70 items). SMS and the stock email app (not gmail) must have depended on one of these items because they now crash frequently. The SMS loads the main conversation overview, but crashes when I click into a specific conversation. I've routed my SMS through Hangouts for the time being. The Email app crashes whenever I click on a notification of new email or even try to swipe it away. If I launch the application after that, it will work once again.
Obviously it's hard to say what exactly I removed to cause such behavior. Is there any sort of dependency map or list that I might be able to compare against my currently installed items to determine what I'm missing? The alternative is to wait until a full root is possible then just reinstall a custom rom. I can probably tolerate my work-arounds until then.
You can use safe strap and install custom roms now!
To restore your stock build there is a thread titled "how to restore MJ5" if you want stock.
Next time remember to do a full backup with titanium before you go delete crazy lol! We all learn the hard way. Also I recommend "freezing" unwanted apps first! Run with it a few days to see how it performs. Then if you feel bold delete. But we've got enough space you really don't need to delete.
Hello guys.
Just rooted my z3c, would like to know what bloatware can I remove in order to save battery life and make the phone smoother than he already is.
Would really appriciate your help

plz, the search button is made for a reason.
If you are unsure about what to remove or haven't got root for instance, you can always disable apps. This will prevent them from running in the background and you can always enable them again if something gets broken.
Hi all,
I did make a thread as a guest user but unfortunately I can't find it anymore so I've made an account and I'll repost/better explain the issues I've come across.
1) RAM Management
Whenever I close all active apps it says it has around 3GB of memory available, the phone comes with 6GB of memory so I'm wondering why it's only giving me 3GB available, surely the OS can't be using the other 3GB to run.
2) The camera
Right so this one comes down to the low light photography, I've upgraded to the P20 Pro from the Samsung S7 Edge. The S7 Edge did low light photography pretty damn well, and in the release conference Huawei state that the device can reach an ISO of 102400 however when in the Pro mode I can only set the slider to be 3200, yet the automatic mode takes it up to 6400. I find it very odd that an automatic setting can go higher than a manual one.
On my S7 Edge I can take a photo in an unlit room and still have it turn out reasonably well, I am expecting the P20 Pro with it's alleged high ISO to provide a better image, yet when I try this with the same settings as the S7 Edge I get a black image. I'm willing to put this down to user incompetence as I'm not a photographer... so if anyone can explain this to me then I'd be greatly appreciative.
3) Game resolutions
I copied all apps from my old phone to the P20 Pro, but half of them don't work. When the apps first launch I get the option to keep them at their native resolution or to force a fullscreen mode, no matter which option I select the menus for the games are all skewed and off screen. It renders most of my games unplayable (pun not intended). Could this be a resolution problem with the phone?
4) The Camera (again)
When taking portrait shots, the background is blurry. This is actually a pretty nice feature but sometimes I want to get a picture of me WITH something decorative on a wall behind me. I can't find a setting to turn the blur off.
5) Phone Management (the in built app)
This one is pretty straight forward to explain, IT NEVER REACHES 100%. The highest it's ever been is 96%, right now my phone is fully charged, has no apps open, is not performing any background tasks and is at 90% efficiency. I don't understand what it takes to get to 100%.
I'm sure there will be fixes for things as apps update and patches are released but if anyone could provide any assistance on the issues mentioned above then that'd be awesome.
I'll answer the following
2) Same iso settings on mine, switch to pro and change the settings
3) Either clear the data/cache or uninstall and reinstall the games from play store, remember this is a different phone and the defined settings could be wrong
4) click on the icon in bottom left (highlighted orange) to turn it off/on
Where did you get the phone from, which sim you using, which firmware you on.
Regarding the portrait question, when in portrait mode there are 3 settings above the shoot option, press the one on the left to turn bokeh off.

I've just reinstalled the apps from the Playstore, unfortunately they have the same issue still.
Thanks for clearing up the bokeh problem!
I got my phone from O2, it's an O2 SIM and the firmware is CLT-L09 8.1.0.103

yours is single sim and different firmware to mine is dual sim and firmware CLT-L29 8.1.0.102(C782)
I did miss off on the iso info that the high iso is only selected automatically by the phone when it's needed, ideally it would be good if could set the iso manually as well to the full range
Regarding 3: I could imagine its a programming issue. Depending on what method the games use to obtain information about screen sizes they could bypass options like fullscreen mode or so. This could be a problem on the phone software side that the fullscreen or native option is not overriding all access methods or the games not using the android API correctly.
I hope thet they will get us ISO 102400 and shutter speed 60 seconds for Pro Mod in updates. If you look at P20 Pro lunch day you will see that they shoot photo with 58 seconds of shutter speed. Now P20 Pro can just shoot maximum 30 seconds of shutter speed.
This thread has had a number of the containing posts cleaned from it. If you don't like a particular phone, don't post hatred for that phone or the OEM who makes it in a thread about said phone. It's really unnecessary.

Nobody said they don't like the phone? I actually quite like it. I've come to this forum because this is literally the only place where some people could have answers to some questions I have about it, whether they be a fault with the phone or my misunderstanding of the functions.
Your comment posed no benefit to any of the questions raised, you don't need to comment. It's really unnecessary.

Actually, the first person who's comment I deleted said multiple things about not liking the phone. The reason you can't see it is because, as I said in the post that you felt necessary to reply to, I have cleaned the thread of said messages.
Your reply to a moderator's post posed no benefit to the way that the forum is run and maintained, you don't need to comment. It's really unnecessary. Do it again and you'll find that you'll be reprimanded. Have a wonderful day. :victory:
