Home Wi-Fi (large area) - Off-topic

Does anyone have experience with a home Wi-Fi solution that could cover a 7000 sq ft home. There are a ton of business solutions but this is really not needed. Heck he wants the entire thing wide open! I know Google is your friend. I was just wondering if anyone had experience with a certain brand or model.

no particular branch i can mention if your in the US but in the UK i know i've seen i repeaters made by i thnk it was linksys or d-link can't recall but if you look under pcworld.co.uk under networking you'll find them and that'll help ya find an equiv in the us i'm sure
that is the only way i can see getting blanket cover to that large of an area.
OR
if you can run 2 access points with directional antenna's ( this would be a DIY as you will have to build the antenna's and know how rf cabling works )
i think the repeaters would be easier though

What kind accessories will you buy for your XDA?

What kind accessories will you buy for your XDA?
Foldable Keyboard !!!!
Your poll only allows selecting one item, but I have bought about half of those and will buy most of the others soon.
Yeah I know. preferences of the poll are not flexible...
BTW; if XDA users have an good idea for new design accessories, let me know.
It's possible to make good ideas real. I have the engineers and productions facilities to work out nice items.
In my opinion , you can't buy enough nice accessories for the XDA. So thats why I started this poll.
A real car kit. I had my money ready to spend, but was forced to build my own. I still need a kit to put it on my motorcycle, not sure if I want to go through the work of building another one.
This isn't XDA-specific, but anybody know of a decent passive-coupled antenna extender? I use my XDA as my only phone--business, personal, everything--and my home office is in a fringe area. I used to use a Nokia with an antenna mounted outside the house, would love to be able to do that again.
GPS
I missing for your list is GPS. I got the Tom Tom Navigator and a GPS recever to convert my unit into a Sat Navigaton unit and it work great.

a mod for an external antenna, or a low cost inductive repeater to improve reception of gs  m indoors!
I'd buy:
1) Mini camera - useful for when we get MMS
2) a well designed thumbpad, or a replacement case kit that had a decent button layout.
3) IR booster for programmable TV remote
We need an 802.11b adapter!!!
Thumbboard!!!!
hey....does anyone know where to buy a cheap foldable keyboard?
thanks

Just ordered for the Toshiba Portege G900

Hi,
I just made a totally impulsive decision and just ordered a Toshiba G900!
I'm still wondering if it will be better than my Uni in every aspect :-/
Anyone here who's tried the Toshiba? What are all your views on that? Even if you havent tried it, what do you feel after seeing the spec sheet? Stupid decision...have i made??!
Here's the link to the product -

Cheers!

Specs are OK, but have you read about the software HANGS?
My main concern is software hangs and user opinions that the screen is unreadable in medium to bright sunlight.
If it was not for these two issues I would have ordered one myself.
But anyways I wish you good luck in getting a unit without the software hangs. Do let us know of your experiences.
Regards
Sorry.... Mis-post
stop worrying about what other people think. its about what YOU think. i live by impulse decisions. if you dont love something before you buy it, why by it. if you fell in love with it to the point that you just had to have it and purchased it on the spot then you made the right decision. if you dont like it, send it back or sell it on ebay. either way, its not a huge deal. relax dude.
on a personal note though... i hate anything toshiba makes. lol
to each his own though
Here is a comment made by somoene who bought it, a member of XDA-Dev:

Got the G900 4 days ago but am not pleased with it at all
- device doesnt wake up after (automatic) powersave, only removing the battery will bring it back to life.
- poor umts receiving, switching back to GPRS where other devices (Q9000/Ameo) have full speed.
- very annoying usb power/sync connector, it is hidden behind a clip which is not very handy but after removing this clip the connector is still placed too far in the device so only the shipped cables fit well and not for instance my car adapter or other sync cables
- battery is performance is VERY POOR, even while using manual-powersave it is hardly working all day. When forgetting to charge at night it is dead in the morning, even while in power-save.
Maybe its just this device, anyone else having any experiences yet?

Kaiser issues.

Ive owned my new Kaiser for a week now and thought I'd share some issues. The first is there is no internet sharing on the current rom. It currently uses wmodem with dun and I cant seem to get it to work right. I want my internet sharing (PAN) that my tytn had back. Another issue is that there is no external antenna connector on the back of the phone. I didnt know this when I ordered the phone and I need it for the weak signals that I get in certain areas when I travel. The battery drains much faster than the tytn I had, and I cant really figure out why. I cant tell if the GPS is staying on and draining the battery when Im done using it because there is no real way to tell. Other than these issues it's an awesome phone and the gps seems to work great, but I would like to get the internet tethering to work so I can use it with my laptop on the road. Has anyone had any luck with this?
Hi
The Kaiser has not yet been officially released, and the units out there are BETA/Test units, where did you get yours?
Because so few people have one and you are unlikely to be using the final ROM that everyone will get when it's officially released, I can't see you getting any help with your problems just now.
You will need to wait for the official release and hope someone puts the ROM up so you can at least get the latest version of the software.
Regards
Phil
Thanks Phil, I got mine on ebay from a nice man in Europe that frequents this site. I buy everything on ebay. I understand the situation with the beta test models, but you would think there would be other people with beta test models in the same situation that might be able to help out. You would also think that if htc released a bunch of pre-release (beta) units that they would want feedback from the people that own them. It would be nice to know if someone is working on new test roms for these phones and how you go about getting them. Thanks for the response. Brian
Hmm..if i dont lost my mind i belive that i saw a video review today where they showed the external antenna connector on the back of the phone..
Yeaa i found it again..Here you have the link

You can se how he uses his pen to lift the rubber protection thing.. Hm..Sorry for my bad english but just watch the review
Edit
spelling mistake
Oh my god, I fel like an idiot. I t is behind the rubber thing! It said gps on it so I didn't try to pry it up to look under it. Thanks for the help. Now if I could just get this thing to share internet access with my laptop I'd be happy. Does anyone know if theres a internet sharing (PAN) cab file that would enable it on the kaiser! Thanks again for all the help.
Never mind, got it to work, with a couple of files that were posted for me. This forum is great!

KeyChain Trusted Bluetooth Device

I don't usually use any bluetooth devices while "out and about". However, I would like to have a Trusted Bluetooth Device that I can carry unobtrusively at all times to keep connected to my device so I don't need to enter a password every time. I know that Motorola sells a small battery pack that does this, but it has been out of stock, and I really don't need an external battery. Ideally, I would like something like this:
https://www.thetileapp.com/
These look cool, but unfortunately, release for MotoX is far away (if at all).
Essentially, they are small Bluetooth Devices with a battery inside that will last a year. They are used to find lost items that the devices are attached to. Something this small that I could put on a keyring (one of the few things I carry all the time) would be perfect.
Does anyone know of a small battery operated Bluetooth Device, small enough to go on a keyring, that would work for this?

JUST what I'm looking for. But, Motorola just can't keep accessories in stock! OOS!
Looks like I'm not the only one who wants this! Thanks bongostl for pointing this out. Are there any decent alternatives since it is out of stock?
they are out of stock on the website, but they are being sold at t-mobile shops / kiosks.
I called the three t-mobile places here, and all of them had many of them in stock.
I've got one--great product.

Which Microwave should I Buy ?

I've narrowed it down to these three, two Panasonic's and an LG (they all have Smart inverter and sensor cooking technology, which is what I was looking for) :
https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-NN...rd_wg=Alf6h&psc=1&refRID=RYYA3NJME0AFBMG5MKKP
https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-NN-SN686S-Countertop-Microwave-Technology/dp/B01DEWZUG4
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-neo...owave-stainless-steel/5714901.p?skuId=5714901
So, does anybody have any good or bad experiences with microwaves that they'd like to share to help me avoid any pitfalls before I make my purchase?
Go to shop and there shop-assistant will help you, you can ask the questions and see it in real life and then you can order on the Internet. If you use it every day, then better to touch it:good:
Panasonic NN-SF464MBPQ is quite good.

Two minutes on medium is usually enough for me to get fully dry after a shower. Just get something big enough to fit in.
