Some ROMS that were on the FTP before are available on BitTorrent, Azureus, eDonkey or any other P2P Torrent client.
A search for the original posted name of the file in a Torrent tracking site will probably do in most cases.
Beneath you will find a list of ROMs that have been found available through searching on PirateBay:

Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102
Remember you help the community by leaving the files in your shared folders as long as possible.
Rom distribution is decentralize from XDA.
XDA Cannot and will not host Material on it's servers that is not allowed.
Which basicly means that the people that own or pay for the rights of use to the Domain, webserver and FTP server, thus supplying us the users with these forums, have nothing to do with the distribution of illegal roms.
I will take a looksee, to see if i find other Roms. Any help in this is apreciated off course.
And i will update the list accordingly.
What do you people think of updating the Wiki to explain what the names of these ROMs represent?
Thats good Noonski that you are taking initiative...Dunno if this will be acceptable though or whether M$ will force xda not to even talk about torrents having ROMs (seems unlikely).Anyways, if this is allowed, I'm willing to pitch in to reseed and also seed the ones I already have with me.
But one thing, though choosing one particular site like demonoid might be a good idea in the sense of having a central repository of all ROM torrents but it has its drawback in not giving access to everyone since its a private tracker. Moreover, since you propose the next release of a rom to be closed, this raises 2 questions:
1. Ppl who are not demonoid subscribers can't get em. Is there going to be any invite system in place for demonoid?
2. even with the invite system how will one determine who gets the invite and who doesnt?
I am happy with my ROM collection and honestly this doesnt impact me at all. If I want a WM6 device, i will just buy it.
demonoid is good, i second that, and as for invites, i think i can give out some, we need to start by making a list, lets say by the number of posts, lol i will wont be getting invites since i have been more of a reader than a replier. anyways, but we need to think outside the box, we cant just cave in.
lets see,
our options are:
1. private ftp, maybe ce4arab.com will allow us to use thiers
2. torrents
3. irc
4. newsgroups, hate them since never got how to use them
5. files upload websites
6. gmail, or yahoo spaces
any more?
it has to be done, we need to do this, we will do it.
cheers
I think torrents are a great way to go. I prefer Pirate Bay since registration is closed at Demonoid it is harder to get many new users using for these purposes. If there are existing torrents pm me and I will be happy to seed as well.

I would love to help out by seeding. I have a T1, not a ton of bandwidth but plenty good to get these pushed out. If someone has something they want me to seed, let me know.

I would also be in favor of setting up a private FTP for those who have something to contribute. If it is not in the public eye then we shouldn't have a problem right. I have been using these ROMS for a while now and would love to help out. I have plenty of hard drive space for it, and a Dual Processor server on my T1.
Send me email if you wanna get something done. Perhaps we need a mini private forum outside of the public eye also, just a thought.
cease-and-desist letter from Microsoft....
While the idea is nice, I think It'll only help get Demonoid get a cease-and-desist letter from Microsoft....
Think you better upload them to newsgroups, like a.b.warez.pocketpc or something.....

I second this. Newsgroups are the way to go.

I just feeling around a bit. Wading the water.
1. Demonoid has an invite system in place allready.
I have just posted the torrents also on a PirateBay tracker.
And BTW the torrent on demonoid should be open to everyone unless i F^cked up again
2. You are right about deciding who's in or out.
I myself would only invite if i knew that either the user nows what he wants. I could see some of his posts for instance.
It's why having a discussion is a good thing. What do people think is smart. What do the Cooks want.
Do they want the roms to be totally available for everyone including users that should not be playing around with Roms but do add to the attention XDA gets?
As for me i don't care where i post the Roms. It's just that for most of my other torrents i'm a Demonoid user. I'll post them anywhere and seed them anyhow. As long as i don't get them from XDA directly it's none of their biz is it?

The three faria roms are available on PirateBay all people now need to do to help out is keep the seeds alive.
Maybe i should reconsider changing my nick there.
if anyone can please seed the PDAviet4 installer that would be GREAT!!! I have been wanting to try it out for a long time now, and i've searched every torrent site i know of and nothing comes up. I myself am helping out with the faria roms. If anyone can please message me with a means of a way to get it, that would be GREAT!
Thank you.
I'd definitely like to see postings of new releases to newsgroups as this is the fastest way to obtain anything that's recent.
I myself have a few roms to share :
buttons 1.05
molski (several)
faria V2 8mb
pdaviet3 / 4
orwells
underground
tmobile 2.26
maybe others...
but I dunno how to post to newsgroups or else
If s/o can explain, i'll be glad to help there
AKU3.2-1.0RC1 Wizard Rom
Yes the thread has been updated.
the
AKU3.2-1.0RC1 Wizard Rom
can now also be found on Pirate Bay.
I want to thank those people that are now reseeding the Faria roms.
I have never stated and will never state that I am the person that uploads these Roms.
Shame that not enough people have picked up on this thread or sollution.

Indeed seems like also RUU_Molski.Biz_AKU2.3-226102_22610105_024711_WWE-30MB-CF2-G3
&
RUU_Molski.Biz_Faria_AKU3.2-3000_3000_024711_WWE-30MB-CF2-G3
Are working fine on the Bay.
It's also funny to see how the 8Mb faria version is one of the favourites.
Running it myself and loving it.
Also funny to see how these Roms get seeded better than Movies.
(in other words to stay seeded even without leeches, which means a better availability, Yes it my make your seed list bigger, but some torrent clients have filters)
If only we can figure a workaround to MS request for new roms. As it clear that any new release has to be provided by a Cook. And that means a Cook can always be traced to it's afiliation and responsibility of getting the Roms out there. On th other hand A Cook is not XDA-Devs. They just use the Forums to discuss their builds! I asume that since this post (up until now) has not been blocked by an Admin. It means they do not condone this endavour. But still some input of what would be wise to post and what not. Like setting up some forum rules like not anwsering questions to users about where to find the roms. Because let's face it anyone that does not know how to find downloadable content should not be messing with their phoner?
So i'm still waiting for the big shots really. In the mean time i'll just continue my epic search for The Lost Roms!
I have a htc wizard (T-mobile MDA) and I'm not sure which rom to use in the following. What is the difference between them?
faria-htc-wizard-aku3.3-page-pool-8mb
faria-htc-wizard-aku3.3-page-pool-6mb
faria-htc-wizard-aku3.3-page-pool-4mb
Thanks for any help
Hey, I would be glad to host any file which is created for xda-developer in the Raphael section. I made a gaming website, which I didn't even bother finishing. I have about 600GB per month for one year, I'll be glad to host file for you guys.
If you are interested please contact me here. Or at [email protected]
Thank you.
How much space do you have?
About 60 GB, 20 GB with free space.
I've mirrored the entire XDA FTP, and that's about 20GB alone. Unfortunately, most of this stuff isn't on there. Especially the Raphael section...there's not much on the official FTP. For all XDA, I'd think more like 150GB, but not sure. I'm currently thinking about crawling the forum, harvesting links to archives, hashing the files, and providing a sort of automatic check for mirrors.
Once that's done, a report could be run to find non-redundant linked files, so that mirrors can be found for them and added.
Assuming certain commands are supported on the FTP side, one could even script an auto-mirror function. I really don't think it'll be necessary though. If mirrors are missing, you wget all those single-repo files, upload them to a fresh FTP, and then add those mirrors to the database. Easy peasy.
Any takers?
Hello Fellow XDA Brothers....
I am a hardcore XDA Fan and I can see many users have started posting their download link to other forums.
This is re-directing all the traffic of Xda.... as slowly XDA fans would stop logging on here and go on these sites.
We should take some steps to avoid this....
Wanted your views...
Even for normal users its really irritating to click on the link register then download ? how many clicks are we adding for one download ?
sometimes it is required so that you can download peoples work that directly conflicts in xda's rules, but they can't say anything about it since it is just a link to another site if you get the download from that site, but if you were to grab it directly off of xda then it would go against one of the rules.
or the person doesn't want their work on xda because of the attitudes that a lot of the newer users have that they are entitled to every little thing, and that is the only way you can access their work.
Simple answer, it's because it requires so much bandwidth, which costs money. Each ROM is 30-90mb, and that's only for Android, WinMo coud be bigger, I don't know. The site is kinda slow as it is (I'm not complaining, just saying) so I highly doubt large uploads will be enabled any time soon (current limit is 8mb for zip).
Humm...
Hey thanks for sharing your thoughts....
I have never posted a ROM or Apps... was nt having idea of rules
Still I could see that files were uploaded on servers like mediafire, rapidshare etc..
But now each member posts on different forums... which i did not like frankly...
So many devs come here on XDA and thats the reason why so many things are happening....
United we stand divided we fall.....
XDA Owners should think on this so everyone stays here...
Hey guys,
I just thought I should post this little tip about two sites I know of. Many of the uploads in XDA are mirrored in sites which have annoying download limitations. Some uploaders do it trying to make some cash but at the rate these download sites pay, I doubt they'd make a lot.
In any case, this tip is for people who like to create mirrors.
There are two sites that I'd like to mention. Namely, URL Droplet and sideCLOUDload.
Both these sites provide an unique feature. They provide remote upload to Dropbox.
http://urldroplet.com/ (300MB limit)
https://www.sidecloudload.com/ (25MB limit)
So, next time you want to mirror something, you wouldn't have to trouble yourself downloading it first especially if the file is large or you have slower internet or you use a volume based package.
These sites are also useful for downloading files from slow sites. You add the file to queue and the these sites will upload the files you want to your dropbox and you could download the file without any delays from your dropbox.
If you are new to dropbox, do consider using my referral link when you signup.

Great info.
But find it a little useless when you look at it?
Why upload it to someplace to then mirror it to dropbox?
multiupload does it to multiple well known file sharing sites in 1 upload.
I use dropbox and it's great but the tools you provide are more for important stuff. Like let's say you found a software or license package you need allot and you always wanna have it . Well then those sites will let it synch to your dropbox and then a copy is safe on your space.
Rapidshare also has this service now.
In case on this forum where the majority of shares are Kernels,Roms,Apps i would still say that file sharing hosts (not promoting here) are the fastest and best solution to share.
Google should actually make a service like dropbox.

I often see requests to mirror some files elsewhere since some of these file sharing hosts have annoying limitations. This is to mirror already uploaded files. Not all files.
As you know, dropbox has no limitations. Plus, anyone can save it to their dropbox without a problem. Multiupload is great but not a lot of people use it.
This might not be useful for everyone but it might save some time for many.
Google already has a dropbox like service. Google Docs comes with 1GB free storage and uploading as well as sharing for all files but additionally editing for documents.
Thx for the info.
Didn't know Google docs already had it never actually used it shame on me.
Anyways yeah got a point.
Another one then i can add to the usefull list is Rapidshare.
As free customer you have unlimited space & unlimited amount.
Downside is after 30days of inactive it gets deleted and the downloading has a waiting time.

Google Docs has no sync. Maybe that's why you missed it. RapidShare is great and Uploading.com is great too. But, I find the download limits annoying. Sometimes, Rapidshare and similar sites will run out of download slots for free users with no means of downloading the file at all.
urldroplet is great, I've been using it for quite a while. The 300MB limit isn't that great though. Is there something like this for google drive though, preferably with a higher (or no) limit?
Hi
I see alot of developers uploading their roms to free sites like hotfile, megashare and depositfiles. The problem is that these sites wont give users a pleasent download if the user is not a premium member.
Therefor; I would like to offer free webhosting for rom developers. I am planning that it should be ad free and with direct links. But i need your help.
I would like to host a system, so that I can create users on my site, so they can login, upload files and retrieve download links. note that many developers would like to have statistics on their downloads, so that should be possible too.
I dont know what system I should use, also, it's not that hard to make one from scratch, I just dont have the time.
I can provide mysql databases too if necessary.
Also, lets vote for a domain name :highfive:
I think there are already some platforms where you can upload and share your roms.
e.g. http://goo.im/ or google project hosting...
Also you did not mention what you would like to call your hosting service
rom-service.com
rom-service.org
rom-download.org
or something like that

Actually it's not just for roms, devs can upload whatever they like.
I have 750gb storage and 750gb bandwith. I am not even using 10gb ea. It's a shame to not put it in good use.
