How lucky am I today? I'm going to pick up a brand new HTC Diamond (T-Mobile Compact 4) for free.
Back in january I was told my upgrade for the Diamond would be £175.
I currently have the MDA Compact 3 (HTC P3300) which I still kinda favour over the diamond or any new phone mainly because of the roller ball and wheel which I've gotten used to. My P3300 has a rebooting problem during calls so I rang HTC support today and they said it could be serviced if it's still under the 2 year warranty. I found out my warranty expires on the 15th so that's lucky! So I needed a phone to use while it'll be at HTC in milton keynes and was just gonna go and buy some cheapo phone from argos. I rang T-Mobile and enquired on the current price of the Compact 4 (HTC Diamond) thinking it would still be about £175. They tell me it's discontinued and they're awaiting the diamond 2 (MDA compact 5). That would cost me about £80 but the compact 4 would be free but none in stock. So I rang a couple of T-Mobile shops and one shop has 1 in stock! So I'm going to pick it up now and it's free. \o/ Then I'll send my Compact 3 to HTC, and that will be free service too.
So, drinks are on the house. Order anything you like
Good stuff mate.
Just remember that you are entering into a new contract, most likely 18 months. Do try and negotiate a discount on your line rental, mobile companies are desperate for custom with the credit crunch!
Also, get them to chuck in web n walk for free if you can.
Actually, my nephew works for T-Mobile and I've had an employee call half price discount for years. So I pay £15 a month for web 'n walk and flex 25 package which is 5 hours free talk time (or £60 allowance). I never make enough calls to go over my 5 hours, or very very rarely. I told you I was lucky, lol.
Yep, I've always had an 18 month contract. I rang HTC again and they said if there are scratches or dents on the old phone they may not honour the warranty and mine has small dents in each corner. Actually, T mobile told me my warranty is 24 months, till 15th june, but HTC just told me that the manufacturers warranty is 27 months, giving me till 14th august. Anyway, I think a new battery from amazon.co.uk may solve my P3300 problems.
Ahhhhh yes. The old, and the new.

Confirmed. Just poped in yesterday to T-Mobile on Princess St., Edinburgh, asked for it and manager just took out one from under the counter.
In his opinion i signed the first contract in the UK (been in the shop at 7pm, stock arrived at 6pm) but I doubt it .
So for £100-handset, 12months contract, £20/monthly this toy is mine.
!!!!!!
That is ridiculous pricing!! I wonder how fast I can get up to Edinburgh...
Just been on the T-Mobile website, and they seem to be in the process of updating a few things... and the Vario II has gone missing from the list of available phones, so it looks like the Vario III may be coming!
Think they started shipping last Wednesday if you phoned them up. I phoned on Thursday, got mine Friday.
First contract in the country indeed
Me too, phoned Thursday, got mine first thing Friday 26th.

Heh, I've had mine since last Saturday! Some have had theirs since last Thursday, so that store manager is a week behind the times!
Sigh....
Did we really need yet another thread about T-Mobile availability....?
Anyway, give it a few more hours and the place will be flooded wit AT&T Tilt..
To be fair though, most of the other posts in the threads about T-Mobile are relating to upgrades, and no-one has really said a lot about pricing and contracts etc. I'm on O2 at the minute, but I like the look of Web 'n Walk and obviously am very interested in the Vario III, so I'm keen to hear what kind of prices new customers are looking at. I also want to be able to walk into the store and take a look at the handset, or order online, where most of the other posts (if not all) involve customer service phone calls.
Well, I got mine through Scancom. Ordered last Friday, £0 for the phone, on the Flext 35 package with 1gb WnW at £37.50 for 18 months.
an now due an upgrade. I have a vario2. I rang tmobile and they are offering me a vario 3 for £30 on a 18/12 contract and for £80 on an 12/12 contract... Aparantly they have none in stock and are going to call me back when they have more in a couple of days.
Is this a good deal ? I wonder if i should ty to barter at all. I have been on flex35 and W&W plus for 17 months now.
I no some funky pda phones... eg the xperia x1 will come out soon... should i wait .... or pay more for a shorter contract
You'll get many answers to this one, all different It all depends what you would use it for; I got the vario3 because it had High speed internet and built-in GPS. If you're looking for a workhorse that can be used to connect your laptop to the internet, then its worth considering. If you need high quality, high-speed graphics, then maybe not.
Its all about the need for features versus the desire for a new shiny toy. I waited until T-Mob had the vario 3 in stock, then switched to them from O2 (where I had the XDA exec and XDA2s before that)
i payed £30 to upgrade to a vario 3 after being with them for 18 months on flex 35.
the choice i had was £30 for the phone and £35 a month line rental for 18 months
or
£80 for the phone and £30 a month line rental for 18 months
the 12 month deals in my eyes arnt even looking at
It cost me £79 on the launch of the Vario III as an upgrade for my then ~2 year old Vario. I continued with Flext20 and £7.50 W&W.
Again it is an 18 month tie in but as I was on W&W before the Oct07 cut off I still get HSDPA. Tethering, media streaming, Push Email and Live Messenger all work on the basic W&W.
i got the phone for free on an 18 month flex35 with w+w after an upgrade. no reduction on my line rental (is still at £37.5), but free phone. isnt too bad. this was in january of this year.
free sounds good how did you manage it... how long was the contract
I got the same in november, free upgrade wnw+flext35 plus 3months free contract, u have to really barter and they have to be desperate to sell lol.
you have to know (and be able to quote) other tariff offers from the likes of o2 and orange (if they're better) it doesnt hurt to put a bit of pressure on them either, perhaps mention you're thinking of leaving. they want your continued custom so dropping a little it off isnt really that big of a deal to them.
ive heard as well that its best to try and call in the mornings, as there tends to be more slack for offers at the beginning of the day.
When I left Orange i was at least offerd a free Touch Diamond and an Okay 35 quid a month connection with there so called unlimited data package...
But yesterday we moved my mums phone...
The retentions guy basically wanted us to pay 40 quid a month for the contract. And wanted us to pay 150 quid for the phone...
Oh and Unlimited is now 250mb FUP... And he was even being very dodgy as im sure it was 500mb... he simply said "it depends on who you talk to"
I was a bit WTF by his attitude.
His attitude was not friendly by any means if anything it was aggressive insulting and uncaring.
I just found it really odd also that one week i get offerd a free phone a couple of weeks later they want 150 quid for it. Even with the contract. As if being a returning customer means nothing to them...
Anyone else had really bad experiences with them?
Oh and on that day we went to a Tmobile shop and got my mum a Compact IV Just waiting for the pack code to arrive to transfer the number.
In my experience;
Never take the first offer. Take note of all they have to offer, look at other prociders' contracts and then call back. You can usually negotiate something.
Always make sure you get through to Retensions, not Upgrades. Same handset, same contracts, different prices.
Prices do depends on how many 'credits' you rack up during the contract. If you pay minimum line rental and never go over minutes, you don't get much leverage on new phones/contracts.
Personally, I've always gone for 12 month contracts as I can't stand the thought of having one phone for more than a year!
I was on Orange, switched to O2, got the £35/month deal.
No more callers getting put through to my voicemail instead of my phone!
No need to go through Orange to do an upgrade, just visit one of the third party providers (car phone warehouse, Phones4U etc.) and they will upgrade you with a better deal than Orange will offer direct.
I got a free Diamond on my existing Dolphin £25 contract. Just walked into Phones4U and they offered to upgrade with no additional cost. In less than half an hour I had a new phone without having to change contract or number.
Orange!!
I was on contract with Orange for 10 years.... and when I told them I was leaving 'cos £8 a month was ridiculous for 30MB of data, some guy in an Indian call centre just said OK... 'OK'!!! TEN YEARS!
I've moved to vodafone... £30 a month, free Touch Diamond, 250 mins anytime, 150 texts, 500MB data... and polite call centre staff I can actually understand and who know what they're talking about!
I wouldn't touch Orange again if they offered me for free, every new device HTC release in the future! Good bye forever

I've kept it off ever since.
I oredred my Diamond with Orange by phone @ 9:30 at night.....
Phone was free, I got a car charger, loyalty bonus discounts....(600mins, Unltd txts, unltd Internet...well 250mb) = £22.50 a month : 18mnths
Chuffed
Im on orange with my diamond i pay £40 quid a month and only get 150 mb of internet so i got my fone unlocked and im on vodafone pay as u go now (even tho i cnt get on the vodafone live homepage)
ok it seems like everytime i exchange my device something goes wrong with the next one as im sure all of you can attest (on my forth exchange). The last time i brought it in they offered me a different device and of course i turned it down because tilts are the top..but now the fuze is out..how long do you think till they have refurbs avaialble..as soon as the 30 days after it was released is up? (for new device exchanges) or longer because i read in some other posts that people did warranty exchanges on their 8525's and got tilts so just wondering.
i just turned in my old tilt for a new one and asked the tech about the fuze... he said he didn't know the release date but they'll have them a month after the release. not sure on how accurate that is, but hope it helps. cheers
I would say keep your eye on the ATT website...when the Tilt is no longer available they will probably upgrade it then .
sounds right I figured it was probably a month..just hope when I exchange it I don't regret switching.. well hopedully I can test drive it in that grace period they give you with exchange by mail
When I was having problems with my Blackjack after the 4th time they gave me a Tilt.
YEAH JUST A UPDATE U CAN BUY THE ATT FUZE RIGHT NOW. ITS BEEN ON THE WEBSITE. $299 with 2year contract n after $50 MIR
I don't think they'll be handing out Fuzes anytime soon. I am sure they still have plenty of refurbed Tilts left. By the time they are offering upgrades, the 1-yr warranty on the Tilt will most likely be up.
Although I suppose that's not quite as relevant now that you can actually insure any* device on AT&T now.
* Except iPhone
When they stop offering the Tilt, they'll offer the Fuze as an upgrade from a defective item. I had an 8525 that broke 5 times. Everytime they said I had to stick to the 8525. Then on the last time, the CSR said they stopped offering the 8525 so I can upgrade for free to the Tilt.
On a side note, I played with one today and I do not like the phone. All of the features are great, but it feels like a "Klunker". Smaller screen, thick, have to pull the battery cover to get to the SD card. Don't think I'll drop 3 bens on that phone anytime soon. If I am going to spend that much, I'll spend a little more and get a better HTC item. My opinion anyways.
my friends brother told me that i could upgrade to a different phone like the blackberry bold when it got released...but i think my one year is up allready...dammit
god, i thought i was the only one calling into warranty repair every month! lol i felt like such a jackass!
i think i am on my 10th tilt? im out of warranty now but they did me a huge favor sending me another one...and im having a problem with my hardware keyboard and d-pad locking up randomly but rarely..hoping its just the custom ROM and not a hardware issue! haha
as for the fuze being a warranty replacement, dont hold your breath.

how soon was the tilt released when they offered the switch? i guess i mean how soon do you thin the tilt will take to stop being offered?
Im sure this thread should be in general but I dont see the tilt being discontinued anytime soon Rep says its still has its own uniqueness it will be around for sometime
Agree with AT&T for once
I have to agree that the tilt has that certain "je nai se quoi" for unique-ness. I also played with the fuze and it is uber thick with a seamingly tiny screen (just felt odd in my hands). I think the tilt is at a good point functionally that it has earned a place with AT&T.
Tilt is discontinued after december i heard? (maybe here?)
And simple way around this is have 2 phones and keep one contract a year off. Once i decide on what i want, the wifey gets the old tilt.
My wife has a Palm from ATT that drops calls. We have exchanged it 3 times now. The last time I exchanged it I asked if it was a problem phone. I was told that it wasn't but ATT has a policy that they will not continually make you exchange a problem phone. After 3 or 4 exchanges you can exchange your problematic phone "for a comparable phone". I was told that I could do it the next time if this new phone acted up. You can ask about this policy the next time you have to exchange a defective phone.
I was not told of any restriction on it having to be a refurbished phone. I am sure they only want to send a refurbished phone, but will send you a new one if you truly have problems. I am always polite and jovial when I call and I have not had one problem getting what I want from customer service in 3 years.
I can contest that you can get a NEW one from warranty this is how i got my Tilt I had a defective Palm end of last year after i got it replaced 3 times and continued to have problems i asked if it was possible to get a different phone that would have the problem. The lady said yes i could get and she suggested the Tilt, They wouldnt let me get the I phone (glad now i didnt) and when i got it brand new in the box a day later.
Another jacka$$ who has had about 8 replacement tilts. Twice had defective back-to-back refurbs. CS offered me a comparable, of which there was none at the time. Recently, I asked about the Fuze and they had no refurbs in warranty exchange. They also told me that an "upgrade" would require extending my contract.
very interesting...i did not know they did this...I am currently on my 4th tilt...and my warranty goes up in late December...hopefully they might do the exchange b4 then if not ill wait for something like the HD with a keyboard...
i just called warranty 15 mins ago..they didnt have the fuze but i got the blackberry bold
I spoke w/ a rep Tuesday night. 5th tilt. Two exchanges last week alone. At the time the Bold was not available. However the Bold released when, two weeks ago? Didnt take too long for warranty to offer that phone. For what its worth a warranty rep informed me that when an upgrade is available in the warranty dept they would offer it to an individual after multi. exchanges. Someone call next week and keep us posted (or maybe something else strange will happen to mine, again).
i've been looking everywhere for a good deal on this phone and havent been able to find it so if anyone is tired of theres id gladly take it. thanks in advance

If you are a new customer to AT&T I suggest for you to buy it online with Amazon which has free 2 day shipping and with 2 year contract goes for about 175 (150 after rebate). I did this to obtain my fuze and I was very pleased with how smoothly I was able to save soo much money (Sales Rep at AT&T wanted 300).

im already locked in a contract i wish i could
Not too much you can do locked into a contract like that, esp if you aren't willing to break into a new seperate contract with the full data plan, I had to buy mine new from ebay for $400. I sold my Tilt for $255 and that made up for most of it.
(Viva la $15 Unlimited Media.net!)
I am not eligable for an upgrade until next December and with HTC releasing a new device of my style (Wizard, TyTN, TyTN II...touch screen with slide out keyboard) usually halfway through the year and then finally getting to the US near the end of the year, that should work out just fine.
I will just have to sell off my Fuze by then, so if you are still looking to buy one for $300 by next December... hit me up.

When I bought mine about a week ago, Amazon had up an option for existing AT&T customers. Not sure whether the offer was the same, because as a new customer I didn't follow the link, but it might be worth giving the Fuze page on Amazon a look and seeing what it says...
I was only 11 months into my 2 year contract with my discounted Tilt. if you ask real nice most store managers can still sell you a Fuze at the discount (299??). they can punch in an exception on your account right at the store. I got my Fuze for that price , but did have to extend back to 24 months under contract again. If one store wont do it, try another. You will come across a store with a manager that will do it.
I just odered it for $150 with a $150 mail in rebate from htc and LetsTalk.com. It came with a 2 yr contract with At&t. I went to http://www.htc.com/us/where_to_buy.aspx and selected usa then HTC Online Store. I then selected HTC FUZE™ (AT&T). FREE Touch pro!

Was that a new plan or an upgrade/extension? I went to the site and it does appear to be for either but when I went to letstalk.com directly the deal was only being offered for new service and upgrades were at $249. What was your experience? Thank you.
First time at&t customer. I hope they offer this to both.
hey, i'm in need of cash and selling my FUZE, let me know if your still interested
