Hello all,
I'm getting ready to sell my Cingular 8125 / HTS Wizard and I have changed the ROM probably a dozen times but I cant remember if I unlocked it at some point.
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
GSM 02.25.11
OS 6.1.2.22
Based on that info can you tell me if its unlocked or if there is a way to tell other than putting a sim card from another carrier in it?

I flashed my firmware with one of the Cingular firmwares. (my mda was already unlocked) Now when I try to use one of the tmobile firmwares to flash back it gives me an error. This is what I have installed now.

Can anyone tell me what is going on here. The phone is working and the data services work. I need someone to post the link to the best firmware flash for my TMOBILE MDA (us version) I have service with Cingular. I need the ROM that has the best receiption and performance and the most features that will work on my MDA Please help.
if you want to go back to the T-Mobile original settings, you need to upgrade to the custom ROM and then downgrade back. If you just want to have the T-Mobile settings, stick with the 2.17 custom rom that Xelecin cooked. I've found that his 2.21 rom was a lttle buggy, but his 2.17 rom is spot on. It has the cid/sim unlockers built in.

I did that and gave the MDA to my wife. I am looking to get a new phone and lookng at the Cingular 8125. Will I be able to unlock this phone with any of the utilities on this site.
hi to all, I need help to unlock my vario from t-mobile Germany.
I have read to much but I did not find any way to unlock sim and cid.

Hhhmmmm....how did you do that? As far as I know those two has to be THE SAME, otherwise you'll get an unstable device and can brick it easily!
And please (!!!!!) read the forum....there are tons of threads on how to unlock SIM and CID, so I guess you still did not read to much.

I believe what are you said. but i just got it today from T-mobile as replacement.
Upgrade to the latest 2.26.10.2 T-Mobile Rom, you can find it on this forum.
I believe if you do that then everything will be okay for your device.
I hope they don't gave you a "refurbished" device.

so anyway to unlock cid that I can upgrade to other network without resk

i am very new to all this stuff on wizard upgrading and have tried to do alot of reading....
The was something on G3 and G4 that determines the which one i have from the IPL/SPL...
MDA Vario - T-Mobile UK
IPL - 1.06
SPL - 1.06
GSM - 1.12.10
OS - 1.6.2.4
these are the details of my phone...
can someone tell me what upgrades i can use for this fone?

Looks like you can use basically anything. Just CID unlock using the LokiWiz or aWizard utilities on the FTP and make sure to keep your IPL/SPL somewhat near your other versions. I'd reccomend, CID unlocking and upgrading to the latest version of a "stock" ROM like the T-Mobile 2.26 here http://www.t-mobileapps.com/downloadcenter/software_detail.cfm?id=80 and then play around with other ROMs. At least then you have a backup ROM to go back to.

I just received an HTC MDA from Ebay - it was advertised as unlocked.
When I boot it up, it shows the following:
IPL: 3.08
SPL: 3.08
GSM: 02.25.11
OS: 2.26.10.2
It is branded as T-Mobile, and has a T-Mobile ROM installed, but I know my AT&T/Cingular SIM is working with it - so I know it's at least SIM unlocked.
How can I tell if it is CID unlocked? If it is, what is the next step? I would like to put a Cingular 8125 ROM on it so I get the Cingular defaults, etc.
Download and install a copy of Wizard Service Tool(WST), then use that to view your CID status, which will tell you if your device is CID unlocked or not.
If it is unlocked, just start your flashing life, otherwise head to the Wizard Upgrading forum ans unlock it again.

You may use the tool to get valuable basic information about your Wizard (among others), e.g. to find out that you got a G3 ...
As for the radio-only-update: if I am not mistaken you need to CID unlock - basically it is a ROM update except the ROM contains the radio only but no OS nor IPL/SPL.
