Welcome to the world of HTC. If it's not too late, return it to the shop and get something else. I've persisted with mine for a little over 4 months but my patience is now wearing thin. Too many bugs and I'm fed up with having to perform soft resets on a daily basis. Mine is going up on eBay.

Post Screen Replacement problems with my Tilt

So, like many of you, I accidently cracked my lcd while it was in my pocket. Out of warranty, no insurance, and out of luck, I ordered a new one from the 8100blackberry parts people...
The screen replacement was really simple, but, now, I seem to have a new problem that I can't figure out. My phone seems to short out from time to time. One night, I was able to reproduce this by pressing on the left edge of the case, towards the bottom quarter of the screen. But, this is not always the case.
I've taken the phone apart 3 times trying to figure out what it could be, but there isn't anything I can find.
Anyone else had this problem? Any suggestions ???
Thanks,
-Tony

Anyone's G2x, or O2x have screen bleeding THIS bad?

Check out how bad the backlight bleeding is on my brand new G2x.. it's terrible. boot screen, images, video's, games. all show it. This app called DRAW! gives you a blank canvas to draw on, look at the difference.
MyTouch4G on left, G2x on the right, see how bad my bleeding is. I think a need a replacement for sure.
Mine doesnt have any leakage at all
I agree you need a replacement
Mine did. I sent it back. Not because of the light leackage though, I didn't notice it unless the screen was blank
I sent it back because of the re-boot issues. My new 2x is waiting at home for me today
Oh damn... sad for you ;(
I don't have any bleeding at all on my O2x, and i would replace it if i had that much bleeding.
But maybe you should hang on for a little wile until that phone is in stock where you bought it, so you don't have to be left without a phone for a week or so :]
bought online at tmo.com, I'm going to return it and just go buy in store so It will be faster in case I have issues again.

That doesn't look good we have here two O2X which great screen and colors no leakage...
However one with an auto reboot but thats another story.
Just go for a replacement .
Mine looks the same but i don't care much about it. Had 1 reboot in 1 month so no reason too change it for me.
That's mine (max brightness). I'm heavily struggling whether i should return it or not. I mean that's a lot of leackage but under normal conditions you don't recognize it when you don't know it's there. The only situation when you can see it quite good is in the dark when really the background on that spots is/should be pure black.
That's major leakage. I have just a tiny bit on the very top right corner. Not enough for me to return the phone. You should return it. Coming from a super Amoled screen phone, I can now respect the screen on my former Samsung Galaxy S. It also uses no power for the black colors on the screen.
The top corners of mine is bleeding. Not that bad though!
yeah I had this problem too and returned it with a pixel broken too. the guy from the store only gave the money back because of the pixel because he said that is normal. some have more some less. well... I think we discovered why this phone is "cheap" compared to other phones. build quality
The top right corner of mine o2x is bleeding, but I don't really care.
I bought a new G2X off Craigslist. Just noticed some bleeding as well on boot up. Will T-Mobile give me any issues as far as getting a replacement in store since I bought it off someone on Craigslist?
i can't believe how much lucky i am...
i have an italian optimus dual...
and it's PERFECT
no bleeding(i didn't know before your post, and i tried it quickly... perfect lines)
no reboots etc...

Same here, but no reboot. Is screen bleeding related to reboot ?
What app can I use to make the screen black like that to test for bleeding?
Try a drawing app, Multitouch Paint does it

Screen problems

Hey Guys,
Hoping someone can give me a hand here. Just got my wife a refurb HD7 from ebay and all was well until she took the kids to soccer and needless to say, one of them put a bottle of water with the cap half off in the same bag as the phone.
Usually, I'd say I was naffed and just get on with getting a new one but I think the phone has life.
The phone starts up, the lights on the function buttons at the bottom of the screen light up and if I turn the phone a certain way with light around it, I can see the screen and the phone functions. It almost looks like a negative of a photo but the screen just won’t light up.
Anyone have any ideas? Do you think I could change the screen and be good to go or do you think it is more than that?
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers.
Upgrading to Gingerbread
Hi , Can someone please tell if i can upgrade my HD7 to Gingerbread?
thanks
mobi,
For what you described, the problem regards the lcd. Changing it will most likely solve your problem. Nevertheless more opinions would be welcome as an LCD is not cheap.
zpassionate,
First of all, Gingerbread is not an HD7 upgrade since HD7 runs Windows Phone and not Android.
Second, you can not.
And third, this is not for sure the right thread to discuss this.
Best regards,
Filipe Meireles

Thanks Cryst. Cheap is a relative term. I bought the phone for $225 factory refurbished and it was less than a week after so I guess anything under that is a deal? Not sure if the logic really works but that is my story!
Indeed it is
Tell me, the light is out since the moment you power on the phone or you can see something for a little short time in the moment you power it?
Anyway I missed the part that you could see the screen (sorry, my bad), so the problem could be also from the backlight or the Backlight Inverter.
So in this case either you open the phone and you test it with a Multimeter or you try to find a cell phone repairement store.
Sorry I can't help more but since you can see the screen, the solution is not obvious.
It never lights up at all. I'm pretty sure its the backlight.
So in that case it's indeed a problem from the backlight!
That's tricky to fix at home because the welds are very small, so if you don't have the resources to do it at home, I'm sure you'll find a shop that does it!
Good luck on that!
Best regards,
Filipe Meireles
what you should do to every phone when it touches water or "drowning" remove the battery quickly and if you can dismantle your phone please do so and wipe dry everything try not to blow dry (too hot).If everything is conform dry assemble it back. And it can be use.
Tried the "Phone in container of rice" trick yet?

How to make sure that the screen is dead

I put my phone to charge before sleeping yesterday, when i woke up, i unlocked the screen and phone was charged fully,
Suddenly after 3 or 4 seconds my screen went black! but i still can hear touch sounds, my computer recognizes the phone storage and i can feel the vibration when i turn it on or off.
I've also tried wiping and flashing a stock ftf through flashtool, nothing.
So my guess is the screen is completely dead and i will be replacing it shortly but before
is there any way to make sure that the problem is with the touch panel only? so it's not related to the motherboard or any other component?
To make sure that screen is dead use hammer or other heavy and hard object.
You need to place it on the screen with good amount of speed to get give this object more power.
I would recommend dropping it in the middle of the screen so you could be sure that screen is dead.
Im not recommending using car or dropping it from high, because there is a chance that you would kill not only screen but also other components of the phone.

That's not funny at all.
Well... when I saw this title I could not resist...
But to be on topic. If fresh flash dont help, there is no "software" way to check if screen is dead for sure.
XZ construction is tight as hell, and only way to fix screen is replace it in service center OR make it by yourself.
On aliexpress you can buy XZ screen for less than 25 euro

http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Blac...Z-L36h-L36i-C6606-C6603-C6602/1901021035.html
Its not much, and if you played a bit with phones before its gonna take you less than 30min.
I ordered screens from ali few times, for my old Xperia Arc S and Neo V. no problem still work like new.
But because you need to remove back panel, I would recommend buying it too, its less than 7 euro for panel with NFC antena
You get all tools with it, and only what you need it hair dryer or wet towel that you put in microwave. Its necessary to unglue back panel.
PS. I know that it sound weird, but one time when I have Galaxy S and screen was dead... I throw it ""by accident"" on the ground... and its start working xD Im not saying that you should throw it... but you know... ""shake that baby""

I was already considering the "shake that baby method", it might be just a problem with some inner connection or cable or something.
That's why i was asking if there's is a method to make sure that the screen is completely dead, so i might not need to replace the whole panel.
And about the replacements, i read some reviews on similar products on amazon, most are complaining that they started to see blurry text, lower brightness, microphone not working and alot of other problems, you seem exprerienced with the procedure of repairing so what do you think?
Well, in terms of changing screens I bought screens only for Xperia Arc S and Neo V If we talk about smartphones :]
I speed almost whole day looking for it on eBay and Aliexpress. Of course before that I checked professional shops and local services, but its F hilarious that they want even 150% of phone price JUST FOR SCREEN....
I always sort list by number of orders, so I have chance to read more comments, and most of this time I spend reading them. If I found even single comment that say that quality is bad... I checked next one. And after few hours I had 2-3 screens to choose.
And in terms of quality... its hard to tell, most of problems are made by person who put that screen in phone, not screen it self. And because as I said build quality of new phones are tight as hell, 0.5mm difference and something is not working.
But overall quality of those screens that I had where good. I didnt had problem with brightness, ghosting(in moving object) or blurry text. I only had problem with less saturated colors. Difference is not huge, but if you spend with phone some time you see that its about 10-15% less saturated.
To be honest with buying something online that is more complex than brick and it contain electronic components its always hit and miss...
I could had luck with screen, someone could not have... Normally I trust online shops, but its better to spend whole day in front of PC than buying first product from the list...
In terms of actual replacement, instead of inventing wheel again, just check YT videos, watch few of them, and if they have link in description for screen, check them, sometimes they give link to screen that doesnt cost fortune and you know that you can get good quality product.
here are few of them:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dfXaze8AS2o
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_hXv-Fouio
Just remember to prepare everything, flat place for work, all tools, and few cups or bowls for parts... flat table or not, Its better to keep all screws in bowl :]

what do you think of this http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Blac...ame-Assembly-Replacement-Part/1449119790.html
This look a bit average looking at comments, most of problems are with dead pixels.
Weird that for XZ screens there are less offers that I would though :/
I found this one that look promising:
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-...6601-LCD-display-touch-screen/1902384532.html
and if you want whole front panel
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/For-...e-Assembly-Black-Replacement/32279043240.html
But as I said its hard to tell if you get screen without problems... I would say to check eBay or Amazon, but to be honest its all from the same place so what the difference?

anyone experience popping noise when pressing note 9 screen?

Hey!
Got a Note 9 last week and day after receiving it i noticed when holding the note 9 and pressing on screen in certain areas (near sides/corners/centre) it would make a popping noise, sounds like adhesive behind the screen not adhering properly or something like that. I got Samsung to replace with a brand new one and same thing with this one, it happens whether phone is on or off, it's definitely not rite as you can hear it very clearly, feels like some flex going on in screen when it happens as i can feel the screen kind of dip slightly when it makes the noise, but ok when it does not make the noise.
Curious to see if anyone else have had the same issue? gutted as loved it for the short while i had it but sending second one back now for refund as worried something will happen with screen further down the road and Samsung may not cover it. I know of at least 3 others who had this issue when buying same time as me.
Cheers.
Do you have a tempered glass installed?

Hey thanks for sharing that. This is the first link I got searching for this, I have it happen to mine note 9 too. It's such a bummer since I had it for only three days and will have to setup a new one from scratch if they have to replace it.
are you sure the s-pen isnt vibrating when you tap it on that side? remove the s-pen and tap it. i bet it goes away
Wow. No issues like that. I've had three Note 9s and all three have been perfect. I'd definitely return for a replacement. Weak or loose glue could seriously affect the water resistance, since it depends on a water tight seal between the screen and the frame. I'd never recommend using your phone in water anyway, but I at least like the assurance that if my phone takes an accidental dip. There's a good chance it will survive.

Yep real shame, my replacement was the same to, it's on way back, getting a refund, not worth risking something going wrong with the screen later down the road, i mean manufacturers do anything to not accept responsibility specially when it comes to screens. First one started on second day, it was great for the first day, replacement was doing it from the moment i took it out of packaging and holding it, it was worse than the first one.

agreed.
After studying the noise a bit more, it is definitely an issue with the glue. It will not happen all the time I press the screen, but it happens more often when the phone is a bit warm to the touch (e.g. charging the battery). Also, it appears to be along the side where the battery resides - I wouldn't worry about the battery itself, it just makes sense that the glue will get loose where it heats up more often (in my case, I don't stress the phone all that often for the other side where the SoC is to play a role). Anyways I'll be returning it tomorrow once the shops here in Berlin open 'cause now it's christmas break.
One extra thing that might be interesting, the back-side also has some sort of a glass-separation issue, at least it looks like that. Notice the circular smudge around and right of the DUOS label - I tried cleaning it but it comes back, I think the glass is separated at that point too, but just a tiny bit. I've had the phone for four days and haven't dropped/hit/scratched it AFAIK.

i agree with you, seems to be adhesive/glue issue, it did not happen all the time for me either but as you mention it, i noticed it more after recharging (when phone gets warm) so think you nailed the issue on the head to be honest.
I noticed it around the sides (edges) and the centre of screen, second one was even worse much more noticeable and was happening straight away after taking it out of box.
Something i noticed but never mentioned as wasn't sure but second one was the same, maybe it's normal but don't think it is, on the curved corners of the screen it appeared to me the screen looked slightly lifted not flush with the frame but only on corners.
I live in the UK btw. I was thinking a bad batch but seeing Samsung had a good deal on with cashback and discount i imagine they sold allot between the time i arranged to send mine back to getting the replacement which was a week so i imagine they would have been separate batches although i could be wrong.

Cool, thanks for the info. It's too dark in the winter days so it's hard to say if the glass is a bit off on the corners, but nevertheless, I will write back when I (hopefully) get a replacement one.
One last thing - you did speak directly with Samsung support? Did you buy it from their store or you just didn't want to bother with the store you bought it from?

I bought it directly from the Samsung online uk store. There was a discount direct from Samsung for students/people who work in certain industries so it could be bought for £699 (£200 off), but also they were offering £150 cashback bringing total down to £549, plus cashback by going via a cashback website meant i would have had it for around £504, also they were doing trade in so people could get even more off up to another £150.00 bring cost down to £399, then people got the samsung game deal thingy, don't play games myself but people can get a Fornite theme by downloading Fornite playing 3 games then you get the free theme, kids going bonkers for the theme, people selling the theme upto £100. So people could have the phone at a bargain price.
So I got a replacement, and just as you said, the display had the same popping sound out of the box. It happens like once a day, but since there is really no substitute for this device right now (stylus + good DAC, besides all the other great features), I'll keep using it and if it gets worse contact Samsung down the line for warranty/replacement. Decided to leave this as information if some other person happens to have the same problem in the future.

feel for you, such a shame and disappointing to happen a second time, it's a great phone, i did not want to risk it so sent second one back too. Fingers crossed you won't have any issues. Mine was happening regularly so like you say just keep an eye on it.
I don't have that issue even with the tampered glass on my phone.

i actually noticed it a few times.. like last night it was doimg it. sort of right above where the keyboard is in portrait mode..
it seems to happen when its really cold outside for me.. its not enough for me to have it replaced thankfuly
I can replicate this when I clean my screen with a microfibre cloth. It happens on pretty much all of the screen. I believe I can also see some light streaks in the screen when this happens. The popping sound happens regardless of the temperature of the phone. Will have to inspect it more to see if I can spot any other issues with the screen. I got mine in the UK just over a week ago. Apart from that I think the phone has been great so far. Not sure whether to replace it.
glad i sent mine back now to be honest, personally i would send back, as you say everything else is great apart from the screen popping sound. The worry for me is the screen might cause issues further down the road, screens are the biggest issue with mobile phones and manufacturers are quick to blame user and deny warranty.

My Unlocked US Note 9 does it too. Mine mainly does it on the right side near the middle. It's not enough for me to warrant sending it back; it still works fine and I don't see any screen issues when pressing on the screen. Also I bought mine used so I'm guessing the screen was replaced. If it gets worse, I guess I'll fix it then.
